Quicktime 7.04 and i Movie
Does anybody know if this new quicktime 7.04 would export clips to DV Camcorder or not.. Please advice.
In the recent 7.03 had a bug that i Moves would not export
unless using quicktime 7.01. I was just wondering if Apple fixed
this problem. So, let me know.
Thanks.
Yuki
I've been exporting quite happily with 7.0.3, and am about to upgrade to 7.0.4, so I hope it (still) works!

QuickTime Streaming Server and Referenced Movies
Does QTSS adjust it's stream depending on the client device and bandwith like HTTP referenced movies do? Are referenced movies strickly for HTTP delivery or can QTSS make good use of "hinted" reference media?
I can create and stream hinted HD movies with no problem on QTSS. I can also create referenced movies via QuickTime or Compressor and even know how to add the "hinting" perameter to the Compressor workflow for referenced movies. I have the option to use QTSS or the Web Server to stream my HD content but would like to know what is the best option for backward compatibility, browser support, etc.
Thanks, Yo Bro!Yo .. I am appauled at the lack of support for such posts .. and the limited answers for those looking for streaming support.
I am trying to learn too .. currently running EvoLV to provide my solutions .. but it is not enough.
Trying to assemble those of us interested with links.'
Have you found any usefull answers?

After recent QuickTime updates fcp and QuickTime will not open .mov files captured on my FS-H200. I put this onthe quick time thread and they sent me here.
and NEVER do a software update unless you've got a clone of your startup drive so you can restore your system to it's working state if something goes wrong.

I upgraded some things and Quicktime stopped playing MPEG-2 movies (black screen)!
I upgraded some things and Quicktime stopped playing MPEG-2 movies (black screen)!
I need help, I was ending a project and now it just plays black!
I have quicktime X.
HELP! PLEASE!
thank you.Quicktime was working fine, I am not sure what Quicktime it was. I upgraded Java, I am not sure if I upgraded Quicktime. After that all quicktime movies with "MPEG-2 Video, Linear PCM, Timecode" codecs started playing black with audio in the background. iMovie was not used. Thank you, I am beyond desperate and I am starting to think no one can help me with this.
Then I am not sure how your created the MPEG-2/PCM MOV files. Files not imported via the MPEG-2 Import codec would normall remain in their long GOP compression format which it not edit compatible in QT based video editors. Those that are imported via the codec to make them edit-compatible then need the codec for proper playback in QT based players/editors.
Since you now say that "Quicktime is working fine," am I to assume that it is After Effects that is playing "black" screen videos and that the files play fine in the QT players? Since you also mention the files are time coded, am I to assume you used FCP or some other app to import the files (which may use the same sort of import workflow) or am I to assume it is the timecode data itself that you feel is now causing the problem. In either case, a Java update may have been a security update that is now causing your current issue by disallowing access to the required playback component for some unknown reason which Apple is unlikely to divulge if it refers to a software security risk.
If problem is general on your system, then do you have a short sample file that you can upload for testing purposes on my Snow Leopard system? At the very least, this may confirm if the problem is general to all updated platforms or local to your individual system and/or user account. -
Premiere Elements 13 has stopped importing MOV. files. Quicktime is installed and working.
Nowconfused
I tried to get background information on the video from your camera but all I could find so far is that the camera is probably recording
1080p (1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 or 30 progressive frames per second. What are you (manually) or the program (automatically) setting as the project
preset to match the properties of your video source. See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio even if the fields look grayed out.
How are you importing the files into the Premiere Elements 13 project - with the Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from a computer
hard drive location or are you making a USB connection between the camera and computer/Premiere Elements 13 and using Add Media/Video ..../Video Importer? Could you possibly have changed the way you are importing the files into a project?
Would it be possible for you to send a small sample of one of these .mov files that will no longer import? Maybe in a Dropbox link that you include in a reply?
Do you have any of the older files still available - the ones that did import at one time? If so, will they still import into a project or do they now not import?
More later.
Thanks for the follow ups.

Quicktime does not convert my .MOV file into a watchable format on Quicktime
Hi guys!
I won't give you all a long sob story but basically, I went to my first music festival over the weekend and uploaded my videos onto my friends computer, I then uploaded these videos (i took with my iPhone) to Google Drive. When i got back onto my own computer, I download the .MOV files from Google Drive, these videos would not convert into a watchable format. It gives me the message -
"QuickTime Player can't open "IMG_8788.MOV". To see if additional software is available that will enable QuickTime Player to open the movie, click Tell Me More."
It says that Quicktime should support MOV files. I am using version 10.3 Quicktime player with iOS Mavericks. I really want help with this issue as I will be devastated if these videos are lost. My friend obviously deleted them off his computer because they did take up alot of space!I won't give you all a long sob story but basically, I went to my first music festival over the weekend and uploaded my videos onto my friends computer, I then uploaded these videos (i took with my iPhone) to Google Drive. iPhone recorded files should already be compatible QT X v10.3 (and QL) as is in the MOV file container. However, the process of downloading, uploading, and again downloading the files may have created some sort of issue causing QT X to not properly "recognize" the content and thus, wants you to check for additional support.
In any case, will the files open in any other media players? (E.g., VLC, MPlayerX, NicePlayer, QT 7, MPEG Streamclip, etc.) For instance, if the files open in QT 7 Pro, MPEG Streamclip, or VLC, you may be able to copy the data to a new MOV file container which QT X will open and play. (I.e., this procedure does not recompress the data and is reasonable quick. Also not sure if using the "Command-D" Finder option to "duplicate" the file will create a "readable" file or not but you might try it.) -
How can I save finished and shared movies from old iMovieHD-projects
Hi there, I have a big problem:
I have found some old iMovieHD 6 Projects. (.iMovieProject) that already have been finished years ago.
Now I would like to save the finished movies outside the projects but I can't find a way to do this although I've been searching in the www for hours.
When I go to the folder 'shared movies' I find a small .mov file - it's only some KB big.
I can start this and the movie plays with no problem im QuickTime Player 7, the quality ist quite ok - original films were .DV from a camcorder.
When I use iDVD I can take this movie without problems and burn it as DVD or .img on my hard disk.
In this .img I can find the folder VIDEO-TS where I can find the movie al .VOB. But the Quality is really awful.
How can I save the finished movie right out of the folder 'shared movies' in the best quality, maybe as .mov or other ?
I can't install iMovieHD 6.0.3 because my old iLive install-DVD was sold with my old macbook years ago and I don't know if it would work anyway on Mavericks 10.9.5
Now I have iMovie 10 and 11. Importing the old projects would not solve the problem because only the original clips were imported, not the project itself.
Would be QuickTime Pro a solution ? There are items like 'save as' or 'export' but I don't know if it works with this kind of files...Save the clips as Quicktime files (full quality), then you can import them into later versions of iMovie. An iMovie 6 project would not be compatible with recent versions of iMovie.

I have a PC computer and an i-phone 4S. I set up an i-tunes acct online w/ icloud. After a recent update my PC started receiving an error message on start up. It says "AppleSyncNotifier.exe - Entry Point Not Found". It also says, " The procedure entry point smlTextreaderConstName could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml2.dll". I click on OK and it moves on. It doesn't seem to affect my computer, but it's annoying. Any ideas on correcting this?
UPDATE - (Made a second post so it'd be clearer)
I uninstalled Office 2003, then iTunes, then all of the associated software (Mobile Device Support, Apple Update, Quicktime, EVERYTHING)
Reinstalled Office 2003, then Office 2003's Service Pack 3, then all Microsoft Updates for Office 2003. Then I configured a blank Outlook profile, no data other than the IMAP info for my .Mac/Me account. Then I downloaded (didn't used my existing copy) of iTunes 7.7 and reinstalled. Sync'd phone. Changed MobileMe settings. Told it to sync contacts and calendar with Outlook. It warned me because it was the first sync. Told it to take ALL of the MobileMe data and replace the data on the computer (which was blank.) NOTHING showed up in Outlook. When I tell it to sync Contacts with the Windows Address Book, it works fine.
In Conclusion, it still won't sync with Outlook, when it's set to Sync with Outlook I still get the annoying MAPI errors. So I switched to to Sync the Contacts with the Windows Address Book, and I'm backing up my WAB file now with my nightly backups.
I suppose we'll see if it gets fixed when I format/reinstall on Vista Ultimate in the next month or two. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open and willing to try them.
On a completely unproductive note: Despite my love for Exchange, I hate MAPI. -
Quicktime having trouble playing animated movies
I have a few movies I downloaded from DC++ that I want to play, but quicktime says it's unable to play them because it's missing software. I have the newest update of QT, and the movies I have trouble playing are only animated ones, such as corpse bride, team america, and final fantasy. Whats up?
If QuickTime can open the files then go to the Window menu and select Show Movie Info to see the Format: for information on what animation codec may have been used, then try to find a suitable QuickTime component for playback... the link below may help with that.

Quicktime playback bright and gray, compared to FCP or After Effects
OK, this is so confusing, I have been working with Quicktime for years but I can't seem to resolve this issue:
I bought a MacPro (Xeon) and for some reason all the clips I create in Final Cut Pro or After Effects don't play back correctly in Quicktime. That is, unless I use the 'Animation' codec, then they play fine. But the strange thing is, whether I use DVCPRO HD, DV, or H.264, they all play back too bright and gray in Quicktime. But when I import that same file into either FCP or After Effects it looks like the original composition.
SO- the color is there, it just doesn't play back properly in Quicktime. The truly strange thing is that I tested the same clips on my other Intel and my G5 and the clips play back fine on those. After reinstalling Quicktime the same issue persists on my Mac Pro.
Any ideas why this might be happening??
Thanks in advance to the wizard who can help me clear this up!
2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon Mac OS X (10.4.8) A Waning Positive Outlook
2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon Mac OS X (10.4.8)This works out fairly well. I'll give you two options on one stage of it:
1. Go to the first frame of your troublesome movie, Command-B to Select None, then do a Copy.
2. Open Preview.app, Command-N to make a new document that looks a lot like that frame you just copied. Once you see it, do a Copy.
3.1. In QuickTime Player, Command-N and Command-V to make a single frame movie of that image.
3.2. A different way, do a Save from Preview, to make a JPEG. Open that JPEG in QuickTime Player, Option-Right Arrow to get to the end.
4. Go to the original movie, Select All and Copy. Back to the new movie, do a Paste.
At this point you either have a movie that is Video compressed for the first frame, or JPEG compressed, depending on whether you did 3.1 or 3.2. In most cases I would choose 3.2.
Do a Save As, Self Contained, and you should have a movie where the first frame gets repeated, and the movie is forced into RGB mode. -
How do I export my iMovie '11 video and burn it to a DVD? I've tried 'Share' - 'Media Browser', 'iDVD', and 'Export Movie' but always get an error message indicating that my movie is too long to publish. Thoughts? Additionally, what does 'File' 'Finalize Project' do?
Instead of Share to Media Browser, what happens if you try Share Menu > Export Movie... (choose Large size) and save it to the Desktop?
If that fails try Share Menu > Export using QuickTime...
Then pick Movie to QuickTime Movie, then click on Options... which is just to the right of Export
Under the Video section click on Settings...
Then in the pulldown menu at the top, titled Compression Type: Choose Apple Intermediate Codec. Then click OK. And click OK again, and save it to the desktop. Once the .mov file is created, you can import that into iDVD and most likely it will work in Wondershare Creator if you prefer to use that instead. -
OSX Quicktime crash while editing large mov file
Hi there,
I just upgraded OSX today. I was trying to split the video (4GB mov format) using QuickTime player. It worked fine if I only split the video once. But if I wanted to split the video foor around 10 times, Quicktime just crashed and gave me the following report. Can anyone help me identify the cause of this case? Many thanks!!!

Thunderbolt Bus: MacBook Air, Apple Inc., 23.6I found out, from Apple telephone support, that the reason why I couldn't do anything with the .mov file was because I originally created the file on a different Mac, but more to the point, in a different OS. I created it in Snow Leopard 10.6, using Final Cut Pro X, then copied the file to a Mac running Leopard 10.5. I guess you can't convert a .mov file if it was made in a higher OS. So I took it back to the computer running 10.6 and converted it there, then brought the smaller movie over to the 10.5 Mac, into iTunes, and then made an iPad version.
