QuickTime 7.1.1 for Mac

I have a PowerBook G4 running OS 10.3.9. I just upgraded to QuickTime 7.1.1 and now the audio does not work on any quicktime files I try to run.
I have checked the volume levels as well as the new A/V feature. Nothing has gotten the audio to work.
Currently, there is no reinstaller available for Quicktime 7.1.1 -- I tried them all but they would not run. Any suggestions on how to get rid of 7.1.1 or how to get the audio to start working again.
Thanks

I don't have Garage Band.
I don't use third party audio software -- just whatever came with the computer.
I couldn't adjust the Audio MIDI Setup audio settings (as indicated in my previous post).
I did trash everything QuickTime related and reinstalled QuickTime 7.1.1. I also installed some third party media player that can play QuickTime files. I have since trashed that player, and now the sound in QuickTime works. I don't know if that is what did it, or even if that is a surefire solution (I suspect that trashing files is generally a bad idea), but it worked for me.
Thanks for everyone's help though. I appreciate it. I think those solutions would probably work on one of the newer versions of the PowerBook - mine is about 3 1/2 years old.

= New version of Quicktime installed but application reports it needs to have that version installed =
Open Application > Utilities > System Profiler and check the Quicktime version in Frameworks vs. the version in Applications.  One person had re-installed their operating system.  It had kept the newer Player application but had reverted to an earlier version of the underlying support framework files which many applications utilize.  Re-installing Quicktime 7.7 took care of the problem.  Do this manually, not with Software Update.

  • HELP!  HELP!  HELP! ****** With Quicktime 5.0 Pro for Windows

I'm in desperate need of a registration code (key number - approx 20 characters) for Quicktime 5.0 Pro for Windows. I have the "free" version of Quicktime 5.0 for Windows, but the poorly designed "Movie Shaker" software from Sony will only work with Quicktime 5.0 for Windows . . . which I have, but I need to unlock some of the grayed out features which require the "Pro" Version.
I've gone to Apple's website and purchased Quicktime 7.0 Pro for Mac and Windows . . . numbers won't work in older versions. I've called Apple Support and they will not provide anything for software that they no longer support . . . thus my "catch 22". I've tried all of my friends, assoiciates, E-bay, everything . . . no luck.
If you are a good samaritan and have a registration number to Quicktime 5.0 Pro for Windows, please e-mail to [email protected] THANKS!!!!!!!!

What a dilemma and a mess you've gotten locked into.
Begging for a key code (to a no longer sold product).
I read (before I purchase) the compatibility of the export formats of a camera.
Knowing Sony's history (and their use of proprietary codecs) I've stopped buying anything they sell.
You may be stuck in yesteryear.
Sorry my response doesn't give an answer.

  • Firefox for Mac preferences shows .qif file format for quicken as "quicktime image format"-wrong application and won't let me select anything else

    Post to Firefox forum; Oct.2011
Re: Quicken 2007; Mac OS 10.5
Problem: can’t import or download Qif format files into quicken from bofa or Chase. Mac can’t recognize; how do I set preferences in Firefox (or Safari).

    Hello,
I previously used Firefox on my old Mac G4 with OS 10.3.9; the above issue existed with that system and Firefox 2.00.2 (or similar). I then "tried" to move to a G5 Mac with OS 10.5, hoping that an updated Mac Operating system and updating Firefox would solve that problem.
I'm now working on my son's MacBook Pro, OS 10.5.8, 2.4 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo; 2gb Memory; 2 gb 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM.
I still have a problem in Firefox Preferences trying to download .qif files. BofA Mortgage accounts only allow downloading of .qif files. My .qfx download works fine, but the error message is as follows:
The error message is that this is a corrupted file or one that Preview doesn't recognize.
and it is still a problem when trying to download Quicken .qif format files for our B of A mortgage.
The preferences for Firefox under File Helpers won't let me name the extension I want; instead, it CONFUSES .qif (Quicken Interchange Format) with .qtif (Quicktime Image Format) for Mac.
Therefore, when I download .qif files and try to import them to Quicken, I get a message that this is a corrupted file:
    thanks for any help.

Well, in the end, I just gave up and deleted the photos, in the hope that it was something to do with them. Took some more photos and they seem to have imported without any problems at all.
Given that the same irksome photos loaded on the wife's macbook without so much as a murmur, how weird is that?
Still- all's well that ends well. Thanks for the suggestions- much appreciated.

There is no QuickTime System Preferences pane in 10.6.8 or later.

  • Registration Key Invalid - Quicktime for MAC

I purchased Quicktime Pro for Windows sometime ago and I'm now trying to unlock the Pro features on a MacBook Pro within OS X and I'm getting an "invalid registration" message when using the Pro Key for Windows. Do I need a separate unique key for Quicktime Pro for MAC?

That way it's always been, different keys for different platforms.
I can't think of any software developer that provide you keys for both platforms. For example; photoshop.

  • My recent purchase of QuickTime 7 Pro for Mac OS X upgrade doesn't do "screen record" on my Intel Mac Pro with system 10.6.8. Apple won't accept responsibility and refund my money.

QuickTime 7 doesn't offer that, but the built-in QuickTime X Player does. You may find another use for the key.

  • QuickTime 7 for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later difficulties

Hi, I have a mac 10.3.9 and I had a older version of quicktime (don't remember wich one) and I downloaded that quicktime for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later. Unfortunately I can't hear the sound when I download long movies thrughtt websites such as http://www.cityofanime.com. It works for short movie trailers and such but not for long movies so is there anything I need to upgrade to make quicktime work the sound properly because it really is anoying to just look in the picture but not hear anything for 30 minutes.

What kind of software I need to download for the 10.3.9 quicktime for the sound to work? Please I want to know if you know.

  • Quicktime version  for Mac OS 10.2.1

I can't find a version of Quicktime that will work with Mac OS 10.2.1. Everything available on the Quicktime downloads page seems to only be compatible with older or new operating systems.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Somehow my os 10.2.8 installed QT 6.5.2, which requires an os of 10.3.9 or greater, through my Software Updater. I didn't even realize this until recently I noticed my Qt would not work. When I go to download the most recent QT for my os (6.5.1) it won't let me got to the install because it says I already have a newer version installed. Problem is it doesn't work. I tried to use the QT 6.5.2 Installer again to try to uninstall it, but it won't let me get to the uninstall point because I don't have os 10.3.9+.
My Software Update log shows that QT 6.5.2 has been installed. I need to get QT totally uninstalled and then start over.
    Any suggestions?
    tks
    Scott
