Quicktime 7.1.5 & internet browser problems

Hi--
Ever since I installed the new QT, some website content I used to view with no problem has been replaced by a greyed-out QT logo with a question mark over it. I tried reinstalling, changing MIME settings and restarting numerous times with no results. Only Safari seems unaffected; Firefox and AOL continue to have this problem.
Can anyone give me some help with this? It's be so appreciated!

I have the same problem and tried the Reinstall of Flash 9 fix but it did not resolve the problem.
This problem started when I bought my new MacBook and migrated the content from my iBook HD. Didn't have any problem with the iBook

  • Internet browser problems

Hi I have recently noticed that when I go to my internet browser bar it will start to load but then stops and I have to shut the page down and start again, as anyone else experienced similar problems?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Internet Browser Problem

I have (up until today) used Mozilla Firefox as my internet browser. Today however it suddenly wouldn't work. I checked my wireless connection. I checked my firewall connection. I checked to see if Internet Explorer was working (it is). I downloaded another browser just to make sure. It doesn't work either. So my problem is that the only browser I can currently use is Internet Explorer and I would rather not. I have a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6872. If anybody could explain what the heck is going on or what I am doing wrong I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank You!

I answer questions about IE - not other browsers.

  • Sony Bravia internet browser problem

I have a new Bravia KDL-42W829B TV. I went onto google maps using the internet browser and the 'cursor' is stuck on the map and I cannot move it. If I press options I do not get an enter URL option or bookmark option. If I exit the browser using the return button and go back onto the browser it returns to google maps with the highlighted(cursor) area again stuck on the map. What do I do please? I had set google search page as the start page but it does not start on that. It starts on the last web site viewed, so I cannot use the internet on it except the apps. I have already contacted Sony support after having the TV for a few days when I could get sound but no picture. That was cured via a factory reset. I am starting to get dissapointed with it after one week as an owner.

    Hi fjgamboa,

  • Internet browser problems (white block at bottom of screen)

    Hi,
Recently I have been unable to properly use the internet on my BlackBerry Curve. Over a quarter of the screen at the bottom when I go on the internet is white so I can't scroll down so it's unusable. I've noticed although it is accessing the internet the little blue loading to the intenet bar when a page is loading is no longer showing at the top of the screen too. If I search for something like a restaurant or something on Google for example, the first restaurant will show in the list but because of the white block and no scroll down bar I can't look at anything else. It's very weird. Can anyone advise me as to what might be happening, I'd really appreciate it.
    Many thanks

  • Safari / Internet Browser problems on iBook Clamshell

    Hi.
I have just purchased an iBook clamshell for my partner off of ebay.
The actual system works fine and it has been updated to OS X 10.3.9 but I have a few problems which I am really frustrated with!
Basically, it needs an update for an internet explorer browser. Everytime we try and go on to Yahoo, Facebook or MSN for hotmail, it just won't load properly. I have run the Java updates and the software update but It still won't work. I tried downloading the latest safari but it wouldn't work because the system was too old!
If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • QT browser problems

i have had this problem for sometime now. i use windows XP. i have the latest version of QT 7.02 i think. i can play a downloaded video with quicktime. like a music video or something sent to me as an email attachment. however, if i go to a website that has a quicktime video i get the white screen with the quicktime "Q" and a "?" over it. as if it were a broken file or something. to verify that it is not a problem with the website, i have visited the same site(s) using different computers. so i know it's something on my end. i use both internet explorer and firefox. both have the same result with quicktime.
this is a very frustrating problem and i would be eternaly thankfull if someone can help me out.
    thanks,
    -brad-

Jacumba, if I may jump in here. don't know if fsupkt's problem is the same and/or related to mine, but it does seem many are having these problems with QT even with mac's and other systems. I too have XP on a Dell XPS400 and am having play QT problems when trying to view on _line movies especially_. I posted here in another topic but have not had any responses after several days. Below is my post on yet another (non-Apple) website page.
    ============================================================
I previously downloaded Apple Quicktime to my Dell XPS400 with XP Media Center Edition on which I alternately use Firefox and IE browsers because some web pages require IE although I like Firefox more than IE. Quicktime worked very well initially. I use it to view internet TV and video clips and movies. WMP and REAL also work very well for formats that require those players. All players initialized and operated automatically without any help or call up.
At some point, I assume when I upgraded Firefox, Quicktime (from 7.1 to 7.2), or possibly when some other application such as JAVA automatically upgraded themselves, Quicktime refused to load, or if it did load the video/movie I chose on such websites as Beelinetv.com, it would be extremely slow, blocky, broken up and intermittent. (Perhaps someone can check Beelinetv.com with their rigs to see what they get). It seemed as though I was trying to stream with dial up when I actually have DSL which often tests at 1.5 mbs but at least 1 mb. So I suspected that my connectivity had been affected. Or else I thought my Quicktime plug ins or extensions had been modified, changed, corrupted, or otherwise affected by the 7.2 upgrade.
I then plugged in a backup HD that had a Quicktime installation before I upgraded anything. That Quicktime installation performed flawlessly. I have been careful not to allow any changes or upgrades on that backup HD that I thought might be relevant to this issue in case I need to compare HD settings or copy the backup with updates to my Raptor which I want to continue to use as the main HD.
I would prefer not to have to go to the backup because it is old enough to have considerable data missing that I would have to save from the main HD that's corrupted and transfer to the back up HD, thereafter copying the backup to my main HD to get back to normal.
    ============================================================
Now Jakumba, for what it's worth I already tried doing what you suggest about closing browsers. I also tried various combinations and settings in preferences after switching browsers but then closing the respective browser but it did not help. I'm starting to think that Apple may have gotten too careless in their ambition to compete with Gates, thereby sacrificing their software quality, accuracy, and reliability I have respected and trusted. That's not a criticism, just an observation. The only conclusion I can make so far based on the problem sequence I have described is that Apple's 7.2 upgrade changed something in non-apple software programs (such as Adobe) that was nevertheless Apple/QT related. And now maybe that's embedded somewhere preventing any version of QT 7 from streaming on line video such as movies, EVEN THOUGH ODDLY ENOUGH IT PERMITS TRAILERS. I presume that's because trailers and some other video have different plug-ins, extensions or formats.
Might also mention that although my Raptor internet security software has been upgarded to registered Trend PC-cillin, the settings in that progarm have been checked to be sure the website firewall was not a problem (it's off) and so on with other appropriate spyware/virus settings.

  • I cannot play any Quicktime movies on the Internet Explorer. What can I do?

Hi, I always check in the movie trailer page on apple to enjoy some movie trailers, but, since a time ago, I cannot see any movie trailer on the internet explorer, when I got into the movie's trailer, it show a white question mark (?) above the Quicktime simbol (Q)and the trailer won't show, I uninstalled and reinstalled again the quicktime 7, but I still cannot see anything.
Can anyone help me to solve this??? There are now like a thousand trailer I haven't see because of this!! lol
    Thanks,

I've posted this elsewhere, but I wasn't sure how to link your question to the other one....
I had the exact same problem and came across some instructions that helped me, so you might give these a try yourself:
    1) open QuickTime Preferences
    2) click the Browser tab
    3) click the MIME Settings
    4) select Miscellaneous - Miscellaneous file formats
    5) uncheck Flash media (if it's already unchecked, then click the Use Defaults button at the bottom)
If that still doesn't fix the problem, continue with this:
    1) within QuickTime Preferences, click the File Types tab
    2) select Misceelaneous - Miscellaneous file formats
    3) uncheck Flash media (or Use Defaults button if necessary)
For some reason, these two lists aren't linked to each other. So when you change one, it won't change the other automatically. There might be a feature to link the two, but I'm not aware of it at this time.
Also, be sure you have the latest Macromedia Flash Player (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash)
    Hope this helps!

  • I have BIS but can't send/receive email, surf with internet browser

i have BB Curve 8520. My BIS was running smoothly (sending and receiving emails real time and surfing the net through BIS), until i noticed when i tried to reply to an email that came in, it won't send. i noticed that it's fluctuating. i was able to send the email after a few minutes... then a few minutes later, i received a replied email from my friend, and when i tried to send my reply, i wasn't able to. also, i can't surf using the browser with the "internet browser" as default. i tried using my wifi and then suddenly all my emails started coming in, all emails that were not able to go through hours ago. my big question was why do i need to turn on wifi just to receive emails. but since i had my BIS for 2 months now, i can send and receive emails and surf through BIS itself without turning on the wifi.  also, i can't use any of my apps like facebook, twitter, yahoo messenger, etc.  They used to work fine with BIS... but now, i have to turn on the wifi connection, so i could log in with them.  aren't these supposed to be running through BIS only?
I have GPRS on top, not gprs.
so, i wiped out my BB and deleted all third party apps. when this was done, i received emails telling me "Your handheld has been registered with the wireless network" and even got "Activation Server" emails telling me that the emails that i have previously set up are now up and running. so i thought my BB is now ok.. i tried surfing, it was okay. after like about 5 minutes, it was down again. tried sending email but can't... i turned on the wifi and boom! the emails started coming in again.
i have the Host Routing Tables and my Service Books in my BB. I have GPRS (not gprs) on top which means i have active BIS.  i have registered my HRTs several times... and resending my service books... same thing...
-My carrier has not reported any data outage.
    - I'm in an area where I've had RIM data services (for months now). It has always been working well. I've never really had any problems with my BIS until 4 days ago when it just suddenly stopped sending/receiving emails, surfing through internet browser, using facebook, twitter, ym apps, etc..
-the big mystery is when i turn on the wifi, the emails suddenly go through and i can send emails. i can open apps that used to only run on BIS. this is ok i guess, but i could never do any of these if i'm not connected to wifi.
-i've read somewhere that it may be some application error or something, so I've wiped out my BB thrice now, deleted all third party apps, everything is clean i guess, but still I end up with the same problem.
-i updated my OS, same problem.. wiped it out... used BBSAK, reinstalled OS... same thing...
can you help me out with this? i have tried battery pull, wipe out and OS reinstallation lots of times but same problem happens...

  • My 6th generation Ipod Classic will not eject, works fine otherwise and properly goes thru sync cycle.  A message shows files are in use and device can't be ejected.  If I close my internet browser it will eject properly every time.

I have a new HP Pavilion running Windows 7 with lots of memory and a terabyte of storage, using iTunes 11 with a 6th generation Ipod Classic.  Have used my current iPod for years with no problem until today; when I try to eject the device iTunes stops responding, there is a delay of about 10-15 seconds until a message box pops up: "the ipod cannot be ejected as there are files in use."  It also won't eject from the windows taskbar, same type of message appears. iTunes remains unresponsive until I click "ok" on the message box. I've reset the ipod twice and disabled the "enable disk use" button for the ipod -- with no change in symptom.
I am not certain as to the fix but am 100% sure that the problem does not occur if I close my open browser; it occurs only when I have an Internet browser open.  I experimented with Google Chrome that I normally use, and also with Internet Explorer -- when either browser is being used the ipod cannot be ejected.
I've used iTunes 11 for about 3-4 weeks and this problem had not occurred until today.

I have had similar issues with mine, happens mainly if I transfer songs and then decide to disconnect my iPod to listen to them with my IEMs (I use Interenet Explorer in my case and it is not neccessarely up when this happens, so I seriously doubt it is an issue conencted to the web browser). I have no patience for this so my trick is I try to eject it from iTunes, if that does not work, then I bring Windows explorer up, right mouse click on the iPod mounted drive and select Eject. It gives me the same warning but there is a third button selection called Continue. When I choose that it just disconnets the drive anyway and the iPod is finally disconnected. It seems to work each and every time I do it so this solution is fine for me. Would be intersting to see what the real root cause of this is because I started getting this problem with the newer iTunes 11.
