Quicktime 7.1 adds artifacts to movs

Has anyone had a problem where Quicktime 7.1 has been adding artifacts to movies that were previously rendered and they looked okay before?
The movies were rendered with the Animation format and they looked as clean as possible.
Now I open any one of those movies and I see horizontal artifacts that look like badly rendered fields.
Any thoughts on that?

I have an iPad 3 with 64 GB of storage.  I am out of space, but when I add up my movies music and apps, my usage isn't even close to 64GB. I used to have about a dozen movies.  One day they were just gone and couldn't sync back on. I used to think it was a syncing problem, but it is storage.   I have done a hard restart.  I have deleted some junk from "memory".  I have tried to "clean up" my iPad, but I am missing a ton of space.  Is there a trash can that I need to empty?  Are my movies still stored but inaccessible?  I have read forum posts about an "other" category in stoarge which I don't see on my iPad.  Not sure what else to try.

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
An "other" larger than aboutn 1 1/2 GB usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.  Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:

  • QuickTime cannot open the file: "trampoline.mov"

I just got a new 2.1 GHz Power PC G5 iMac with 2.5 GB RAM, 500 GB HD running Tiger 10.4.5. I used migration assistant to transfer over all my apps. etc. from my PowerBook. I tried to open Quicktime (version 7.0.1) and I got this error "QuickTime cannot open the file: "trampoline.mov". I have no idea what this means or what it is referring to. I have no knowledge of the file "trampoline.mov". I am also getting "Can not build a preview because of a problem w/Quicktime" when I try to save a document in Photoshop CS2. It appears to save the document, and the error disappears. Once, however, I left the error message up on the screen for a few minutes, and I got a "generating preview" message that appeared underneath the error. It got stuck roughly in the middle of generating the preview, and I had to force quit the application. I would appreciate any help or advice on fixing this problem. Thank you, Regina

Upgrade QuickTime to version 7.0.4 and your troubles may disappear.
The trampoline.mov file is part of the QuickTime Player app and is used to "bounce" you to the Internet. Remove the check mark to "Show Content Guide" when QuickTime Player is launched (Player preferences).
I don't know why you're getting a QT error when using Photoshop. Check the Adobe Site for updates.
I suspect some settings got mucked up during the migration from your Powerbook.

  • Quicktime won't play audio of .MOV files

Quicktime displays the video portion of .mov files from my digital camera, but the audio sounds like a (very loud) jackhammer, and seems to hang. Ditto with other viewers (irfanview, etc.) that depend on Quicktime.
However, Nero ShowTime plays the same files just fine.
It's as if quicktime didn't fully install codecs, although uninstall/reinstall sequence didn't help, and no messages indicating any problems.
PS... it used to work great (months ago) -- no clue how it was broken.
    VPR-Matrix (Intel sysboard, P4 1.8GHz)   Windows XP

I'm experiencing the same problem, with the only difference that my qt has no video on one account, and behaves normally in another account. I compared the versions, but the seem to be the same.

Can you give us the details of your project, codec etc.
Can you check the drive you are exporting the master file to and the file itself for permissions and specifications.
Have you tried opening the file with something like VLC

  • When I have made a movie in Imovie and I want to transfer it to Theater I get the following comments: Imovie is updating your Theater, You can't add or remove movies right now. Please try again in a moment. I have reinstalled,  Imovie to no avail

when I have made a movie in Imovie and I want to transfer it to Theater I get the following comments: "Imovie is updating your Theater, You can't add or remove movies right now. Please try again in a moment". I have uninstalled and reinstalled Imovie to no avail, cleaned with "Onyx" etc.

This simply means it is set to Automatically update and you should not have to do anything with it.
When you put new music in iTunes , it will automatically go on the iPod next time you connect it.
This is the default to make it very simple and very easy to use.
If you want to do it all yourself, iTunes prefs -> iPod.
Set to Manually manage songs and playlists.
You have to drag songs to the iPod and delete them from the iPod.

  • How to add pdfs n movies from my PC without creating ne library

How to add pdfs n movies from my PC without creating ne library... Does iTune has ne converter tht can convert movie into format that iphone can play..

That's easy, while connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. If your iPod shows up ok in iTunes you can change it to manual from there.

  • QuickTime new install hangs, freezes executing MOV files?

    Once worked?
A iTunes user I have removed & reinstalled ITunes back having same issue never fixed awhile (I did not know it was I QuickTime thing)
I tried to run any video in iTunes or podcast and it freezed.. I lost mouse keybd everything Reboot!
That was iTunes on another ticket suggested that I remove & reinstalled... same problem, never did solve it?
Today I tried QT, running a MOV from fresh boot, to execute a MOV file, one that worked and I created a year ago..
I went repair soft and apps in control panel, then finally remove & reloaded it, Quicktime still freezes when executing a MOV file.

1] Try it with another user account (make one if you need to in Apple menu > System Preferences > Accounts)
2] If its only happening in your account:
Inside your hard drive, in the Users folder should be your user home folder (with your account name.) Within that folder is a folder called Library... open that and look for a QuickTime folder within, pull that QuickTime folder out to the Desktop. Do the same for Internet Plug-ins and throw away the ~/Library/Caches/QuickTime folder too. Then, open Preferences and pull out com.apple.quicktime... (all of them) and the QuickTime Preferences file.
Then log out (Apple menu) and back in (or restart) and try again.
3] If its happening for all users then try:
Pull the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plist to the desktop (Your QuickTime Pro registration is in that file so don't throw it away, just move it out, restart and try again.)
4] If there are still problems, try repairing your disk either with the OS X install disc (run Disk Utility from the menu bar) or by rebooting in Singel-User-Mode and running fsck. Then repair permissions with Disk Utility.
Let us know if you still have trouble.

  • Add a home movie from iTunes to Movie Theater?

I have an old home movie from a few years ago that was already edited in iMovie and shared to iTunes. Now that iMovie Theater is available, I'd like to add that home movie, and others, to iMovie Theater. Is there a way to add them back? The original projects and library assets have already been deleted from iMovie.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi pmpknetr21,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you want to import previously created movies from iTunes back into iMovie. Once in iMovie, you can move projects inside of iMovie to iMovie theater.

  • Recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion then Mavericks. I have Final Cut Express and when I export to Quicktime, and open to play the movie, Quicktime starts to "convert" it? What is this about????

Recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion then Mavericks. I have Final Cut Express and when I export to Quicktime, and open to play the movie, Quicktime starts to "convert" it? What is this about????

My existing movies are all the following types straight from FinalCut
    Apple Intermediate Codec, 1920 × 1080, Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz
This particular movie is 6.66 Gb
The new Quicktime player in OS Mavericks converts these to the following format:
    Apple ProRes 422, 1920 x 1080
Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz
And a movie size of 6.48 Gb
Please, please can someone tell me why?

  • I just installed quicktime 7.7.2 to watch movie trailers, works but no sound

I just installed quicktime 7.7.2 to watch movie trailers on http://trailers.apple.com/trailers.  It plays the trailers OK but there's no sound.  Any ideas?  I have Windows XP.
Quicktime installation also changed the association on an m4v movie that played perfectly with the VLC movie player, but plays real jerky with the QT player and also there's no sound.  Any ideas?
    Thnx

I just installed OuickTime 7 Pro in my Mac Pro Ver 10.6.8. The video I am trying to view is codec h264 Compression dvcpro 50 hd. I have audio but no video. It says I need other software with QuickTime for it to work. Dose anyone know what I need?
H.264 video should be supported by your basic Snow Leopard operating system. The DVCPRO HD family of codecs is part of the Apple "Pro" codecs package which is normally installed as part of a "Pro" video editing suite installer or contemporaneously installed separately as part of one of the newer pro editing apps like FCPX. if you already have one of these pro suites or apps installed or available, then re-install the correct codec package that is missing. If not, you will need to purchase a Pro suite or app to be able to install the required codec package.

Not from Apple directly, but you can try Best Buy. They say that they'll accept non-US credit cards as long as the delivery address will be in the US.

  • Quicktime X double-click to start movie?

    Hello,
In previous versions of Quicktime, you could double-click a movie to start it and click a movie to stop it. (Or the other way around, its muscle memory for me.)
However, in the new Quicktime player, this doesn't work. Does it work for anyone else? (If it doesn't I will submit a "bug" request.)
    Thanks,

    Hi,
You hit it on the head... previous versions of QT...
I was able to open QT, then from the QT Menu bar, click File/Open File. Navigate to a QT formatted file and open it. But some of my older QT versions won't work and I think this link might shed some light on this issue.

  • How to make each playlist for each movie songs ? when i tried to add songs all movie songs comes in row , its very difficult to find which movie song belongs?

how to make each playlist for each movie songs ? when i tried to add songs all movie songs comes in row , its very difficult to find which movie song belongs?

Thank you! I put some self help hypnosis tracks to listen to on my iPod. I did not want to go to the next track automatically, I wanted to listen to them individually, one at a time. (If I fell asleep, I did not want to 'wake up' in the middle of a different track.) Your information helps me understand that I need to re-load this playlist onto my iPod from my  Mac computer, only first, I need to UNCHECK the boxes in front of each track so the iPod will STOP each time after playing the selected track. It is too bad that so many functions are not availabvle within the iPod, but that is probably why they can make it so compact.
