QuickTime 7.1 download

My son downloaded iTunes 6 and was prompted to download a newer version of QuickTime. We uninstalled our older version of QuickTime and tried the free download of 7.1. When we click 'Save', QuickTime installer begins, but after the installer completes, we get a promt stating that some files were corrupted and we need reinstall a new version. If we click 'Run', again, the installer begins, but a window states that there is a problem with the security certificate and we can't proceed. What should we try next? Thanks in advance for your help.

hmmmmmm. if you've got itunes 6.0.5.20 already installed, and that installer seemed to work fine, we might be able to do an end run around the current problem with the QT installer.
first, make sure you've got all versions of QT removed from the PC via Add/Remove.
then reboot the PC. then let's try a repair install of itunes. go into Add/Remove, select itunes, click "change/remove" and then select "repair".
(in the normal course of events, this should install a QT 7.1 as well as repairing itunes.)
does that get a QT 7.1 into the PC?

I downloaded Quicktime 7,then downloaded Quicktime Pro but when I try to register Pro nothing happens. What am I doing wrong

in QT,  go to QT Player  >  about QT Player
if it shows a QT pro logo you have upgraded to pro OK
If not,   did you include the full details in the registered to box, eg>    "Mr John Smith"
also, copy and paste the reg code from Apples email, dont type it in.

  • Quicktime will not download and install

I had to reinstall windows and all of my programmes i just downloaded the newest iTunes but Quick time appears not to intall along with it. i tried intalling the stand alone quicktime but all i got was the picture viewer.. Am i missing something where is Quick time? HELP!! i just spent hr's copying video from my digital camcorder

    Hi, Irish,
Try using CCleaner (that stands for "crap" cleaner) to do a good uninstall of QT. Go to ccleaner.com.
Then install the standalone version 7.0.3 of QT. Do not install version 7.0.4 if you're using XP.
    Good luck!
    Tom.

  • I need the quicktime plugin, but everytime I want to install it, the whole quicktime player is downloaded without the plugin.

quicktime plugin from aplle can only be installed with the whole quick time player.
I download it but nothing happenes, videos still cannot be streamed in firefox.
I tried to install the plugin manually out of the quicktime file, but it seemes as though the plugin was not downloaded with the player.
Did I do everything right? what is going wrong?

I see that I have the QT plugin 7.6.6 in my 'installed plugins' list.  I was wondering if this was a carry over from previous versions of the OS and perhaps this is screwing everything up.
No. Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl923
Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link  even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)
The page loads fine for me, but it takes a ittle while before it does so after the Quicktime icon shows.

  • Quicktime 7.5 download

Hi, how do i download the latest Quicktime 7.5 for my mac at home from a windows machine?

Actually, it still is way fussy. They've made the links circular too, so that when you go to the specific version page, it redirects you back to the auto-sensing page. I used your link to the specific Leopard installer for 7.5. Thanks. I'm trying ot get the tiger version for v755 and even using the download section of the Apple site, it redirects back to the crappy "Oh!-you're-on-a-windows-machine" garbage.
So, I'd need to know the specific name of the file being downloaded to tack on to the end of "http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/nph-reg3rdpty2.pl/product=21078&cat=59&platf orm=osx&method=sa/download". Without that, I can't download anything. I got that URL from the bottom of the generic QT download page. Click on Version Availability, then scroll down that page and click on Apple Care, then on THAT page, to the left there's a link, so click on whatever flavour you want of the 755 version...uh-huh, a specific download page. Now click on the 60.18 MB to download it (note the URL is what I pasted above) and, OH! wow, we've gone in a circle.
I took a stab at guessing the filename based on the established pattern for filenames, but to no avail. I like the apple products, but this is just more evidence for me, another log on the fire, that their customer care, consideration, and design is absolute crap. Why do they make it SO impossible to download EXACTLY the file one is looking for? I can get on my MAC at home and download windows patches to store aside for a windows machine that can't get on-line...so why can't I grab certain apple installers the same way? How much of a clue does Apple need that if you want to post a file to serve the customers, then just post the **** file plainly!
BTW, on the page two steps before the loop above was complete, you can download the v75 installers w/out issue.

  • Can Quicktime videos be downloaded to DVD?

    Hello All,
I have a family video that was recorded with a miniDV camcorder. There is about 10 minutes of it that I want to share with relatives. At first I was going to make several copies on miniDV tape and then I thought about using one of those USB compact flash units. Then someone told me I might be able to email my relatives a Quicktime of the 10 minutes.
Here is my questions: Can I email this DV footage as a quicktime or would it be better to up load it to something like Vimeo.com and my relatives can download it from there? Also want is the quality of a quicktime file compared to a DVD or a quicktime file compared to miniDV footage?
    Thanks for all your help.
    Mike

You could burn a "data" DVD using the Finder and mail that out. The QuickTime file would be about 2GB's in file size and would require them to copy it from the DVD to their machine (DVD media is too slow to play it).
You could use iMovie to create a QuickTime .mov file that could probably fit on a CD.
You could use iDVD to create a standard DVD that could be viewed on any player and TV.

  • Quicktime hangs on download page.

I just reinstalled my OS (XP Pro).
I am trying to reinstall Quicktime.
I go to the Quicktime homepage, then click on download.
Several moments after this, the page stops responding and I have to go into Windows Task Manager in order to force shutdown the page.
I have attempted this several times, but the same thing always occurs.
Irritated, I tried to download it to my GF's laptop, only to get the same problem.
    What is going on?

Saving to remote locations can sometime cause problems. Try saving to desktop. If that's not it, the program may be corrupt. Try to export as .WMV -- WMV exports are made possible for Quicktime by installing a 3rd party app called Flip4Mac which does the job for quicktime. If that still fails, I might try and re-install quicktime if possible. If that doesnt work, then maybe optimize/defrag your harddrive to see if that helps.

i cant download quicktime!ive never had i-tunes before!
    im using a windows 2000
ive followed all the instuctions on the apple service site!

    hi katherine/eddy!
hmmm. okay, let's try another standalone QT 7.0.3 install. this time we'll take a few additional precautions.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.0.3 installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.0.3 Standalone Installer
if you get an error message on that install, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.
if the install goes through, will your itunes launch?

  • Remove Quicktime as Default downloader

Hi, I believe this is the place to get my question answered. quickly. I apologize if this is the wrong place for this question. I did do a search in the archives but missed the subject if it is there. Right now I am very annoyed because Quicktime, with the updating of itunes, has installed itself and taken over my downloading. I want to remove this as a defulat when I download an ipod video. I updated itunes on my IBM Thinkpad and now Quicktime wants to handle all my downloads and I do not it want to. I need to convert files for use on my Treo and need the download the way it comes from the website. Quicktime gives me the option of saving the video but only if a I purchase Quicktime Pro, and I am certainly not inclined to do that now that Quicktime has hijacked my computer. So, I need help diabling QuickTime from being the default downloader for videos, for example, the free ipod downloads from from Channel Frederator (great cartoons by the way). I have tried to figure this out and have not succeeded. I have even uninstalled Quicktime but then itunes won't work. I was perfectly happy with the way it was before the upgrade and despair of ever getting back my control over downloads. Please help me. Thanks Sherrill Hondorf

Use the QuickTime Control Panel. Not sure which tab but you want to open the MIME Settings window.
Remove the check mark for all the file types you don't want the plug-in to open and restart your browser.

  • Quicktime grabbing MP3 downloaded files!

    Hi folks,
I am downloading some songs from mp3search.ru (very very cheap mp3 site) and they are downloaded as iTune files (which is what I require), however, when they download fully they become Quicktime files!
I now have to change them individually to be opened with iTunes but they remain QT files!!
How do I stop QuickTime from being the default and dictating itself as the main MP3 player?!
    Thanks
    Tc

In the Finder (the Desktop) select one of the files (presumably with a name ending in .mp3) and "Get Info" from the File menu on the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the "Open with" section (click the black triangle so that it points downward) use the pop-up list to select iTunes. If iTunes is not in the list, select "Other" and navigate through your Applications folder to iTunes and select it, then click "Add." Now click the "Change All" button. That should associate all files ending in .mp3 with iTunes.
The icons may or may not update anytime soon. If they look like QuickTime icons, they should still open iTunes when double-clicked. If you have further trouble, post back here again.

I have come to the conclusion that Quicktime is not being downloaded when I get the software off the internet. What do I do?

    hi Bob!
yeah, the main link on that page leads to an itunes/QT installer bundle. (it's my pet peeve about that page.) the link to the QT standalone installer (on that page) is in those little "bullet-point" links down and to the right.
alternatively, here's a link through to the standalone download page:
