Quicktime 7.2 Full Screen

Using Quicktime 7.2 and the newest iTunes 7.3.1 and am having a small problem on fullscreen within the QT software. No matter what the delay is set to, the full screen controls will not disappear. If it is turned off, it won't appear at all, but the cursor will not disappear either. Both of these things worked fine in 7.1.5 with the upgrade and latest Windows Updates being the only changes. Does anyone else notice this behavior?
Specs in signature.

I have this problem as well.
Only with a much earlier version of Quciktime for windows did this ever work properly for me. This hasn't worked for me for over a year. However, if you have a dual monitor setup, use your mouse and click on the 2nd monitor. The focus goes to the desktop and the controls then dissappear. The only problem is you have the task bar at the bottom of the screen, I coloured mine black so you cant see it and you also need 'Auto-hide task bar' turned on.
So interestingly enough if you set the focus else where the controls do then dissappear, so it must be a bug, i've yet to try uninstall / re-install as I dont know where abouts all the hidden folders and files are. Probably somewhere in 'Docs and Setts'.

• Quicktime wont stay full screen when streaming?

I have latest version of Quicktime, on MacOSX 10.5.5, and whenever playing streaming video from the internet, it wont stay full screen. Whenever theres a pause, it quits full screen. Is there anyway to fix that?

Hi J. thanks for info yesterday although i think its actually a bug.

• QuickTime 7.2 - full screen for everybody, and some new pro features

QuickTime 7.2 addresses critical security issues and delivers:

- Support for full screen viewing in QuickTime Player

- Updates to the H.264 codec

- Numerous bug fixes
There are also some new options for QuickTime Pro users, inside QuickTime Player preferences.
General:
- Timecode:
-- Show timecode when available
-- Show absolute frame numbers
- Other:
-- Enable Final Cut Studio color compatibility
When enabled, video is not displayed using ColorSync. Source colors are read with the 2.2 gamma and are displayed in a color space with 1.8 gamma.
Full Screen:
- Movie Size:
-- X for widescreen movies
-- X for standard movies
-- X for other movies
Does anybody know more about what was improved with the H.264 codec (any updates on color shifts etc.)?

You may want to post this in the QT forum. You may find more interest there.
Good luck.

• Can I have control Quicktime to play full screen?

My QT player will allow me to choose a full-screen mode when
I play movie clips. Is there a lingo method to make a QT movie
scale to full screen like this?

Hi
Following Robs answer. I had been using Mpeg advance script
(below) to force a video to go full screen. This worked great with
MX however the effect seems to have changed with MX04.
It now leaves a small gap at the bottom of the screen hiding
the in built QT controls - Any ideas how to remedy this.

• Quicktime X Secondary Full Screen

I have used my pro version of Quicktime 7 for presentations for many years. I have grown very attached to the setting that allowed me to hit "Command-F" and the video would jump to a secondary screen (my projector) and play the video. I have noticed that the newest version of Quicktime doesn't have all of the pro settings, but wanted to see if there was a way to play the video to a secondary screen with a shortcut. With Quicktime X I have to pull the video over, hit "Command-F" and then hit the spacebar to start the video. And once the video ends I have to pull the video back over. VERY CUMBERSOME for just showing a video. Are there any plans to fix this, or shortcuts that can fix this issue. Seems like Quicktime took a major leap backwards while also making the software better.

I believe QuickTime X is getting significantly improved in OS X Lion. You could try the beta if you're a developer or try filing a bug report with Apple. Hope this helps!

• Possible to view quicktime in full screen on external monitor?

Hey All!
Im wondering if there is any way to view quicktime movies in full screen (or use front row for that matter) on an external desktop set up us as an extended desktop (as opposed to mirror). This seems like quite a dumb thing to not be able to do.

This is a problem for most software on the mac, especially games. My experience has been most software uses the primary - in this case the macbook lcd - as its display monitor. There are a few ways to fudge it to force it on another screen, but quite frankly I find that the only way to use a macbook pro and external monitor is with the lid closed.
This is generally the best solution as the menu bar is always stuck on the primary anyway.
To use the macbook closed simply wake the computer from sleep with an external keyboard or mouse the laptop and the primary will now be the external monitor.
The only real downside is how do I now use the isight????

• Automatically open movies in Quicktime Full Screen

I know that if I open a movie file in Quicktime I can go to to:
window/show movie properties/presentation/enter full screen mode when opened
& then the movie will start on full screen when i play it. But how can i avoid this step if i want all movies to play on full screen by default ? How can i edit Quicktime to open full screen every movie?
Can i enter a command on terminal and it will do the trick? or a script? automator?
thanks for any ideas or comments ; ) i really hate to do an extra step.

Limnos, thanks for your reply ; ) On VLC you go to preferences, choose full screen as default and voila, from now on movie files will open full screen. I am sure there is a way to make full screen the default view option on Quicktime but until now I can't still find it : (
ps. I know is command+F but lets be minimalist, if you don't need this another step, lets avoid it ; ) -as i said on vlc you cant avoid it. I know Steve dislikes extra steps if unnecessary, i also do ^_-

• How to get Quicktime to always open full screen?

If I click a video file I want to watch it. So I have a script to get it to play straight away, but how do I get quicktime to go full screen when a video file is loaded?

Command-f after the file has opened.
Use QuickTime Player Pro to set the movie "Presentation" properties to have the file open at full screen at launch.

• Quicktime Full Screen

Is there anyway to get Quicktime to play full screen through my website? I tried the usual right click method and this did not work. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

YouTube does not use Windows Media Player either.
Think FLV.
There are free Flash players that you can embed in your page. 'Flowplayer' is one of them.

• Need help to play a DV file in full screen mode w/o losing resolution

I just finished a 20 minute film using iMovie, and in order to share it, I created a Quicktime DV File using the Full Quality mode. However, when I play the obtained Quicktime file in full screen, the images become blurry and the titles are unreadable, so I am forced to sticking to the standard size (which is relatively small).
I need to project this video THIS SAME WEEK on a screen in front of a large crowd and the largest screen size for Quicktime to avoid pixelation is very small (1/6 of my screen).
Is there any way in which I can get a larger resolution DV file than the one iMovie creates? How can I share this with the audience w/o having to project it from the original iMovie file?
HELP PLEASE...!!!!! I am desperate, so any urgent advice will be greatly appreciated. And please note I am a novice at iMovie (first time I used it). Any help to increase the resolution quality of my DV file will be EXTREMELY HELPFUL.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Any help to increase the resolution quality of my DV file will be EXTREMELY HELPFUL.
For faster editing iMovie 08 & 09 uses single-field processing. This means every other horizontal line of the video is thrown out, which reduces the sharpness of the footage. iMovie 06 uses all of the image, I think you will find it looks better.
iMovie 06 and iDVD 09 is a terrific combination.

• Video output to full screen?

I have a situation where I need to synch multiple separate recorded backing tracks with video in a live performance situation with a live band. I was told that Logic 8 allows for outputting full screen video synched to music tracks. I have tested this and gotten as far as having my Quicktime video synched to the backing tracks - all working weell, however I cannot output the video to full screen mode. I can output just a Quicktime file to full screen mode, but not Logic.
Are you able to do this on Logic 8 or was I given bum information about it's capabilities when I bought it? Do I need a specific video card maybe (I didn't think so since Quicktime works in fullscreen mode).
I'm using a PowerBook g4 currently.
Thanks!
Sean

Sorry guys but this is a bit confusing to me- I am not that familiar with the video stuff...
I know that if I run Quicktime on my Mac and go to full screen mode then it works fine. It even works with my Mac hooked up to a video projector. So my computer can output full screen (in Quicktime). However, Logic will not go into full screen mode when I tell it to.
So, since I can go into full screen mode in Quicktime does this mean that Logic should also be able to - or does this mean that the Logic program requires this box you're talking about in order to do full screen mode?
Also, I'm not sure what this box does exactly or what I have to "import" and where I have to "import" it to.
Again I am making videos that will accompany a live band but must be synched to the backing tracks and the drummer's click track that will be located on my Mac laptop. So all I need is the video that is synched to my Logic song file to output to full screen when I connect it to a video projector.
Thanks...

• Adding Full Screen Function Within Browswer

We are nearing completion of a video project that on our web site we have several quicktime movies that I need to play full screen when they click on the movie link. I can do this within quicktime and also if I type in a URL from within Quicktime, but how do we program that function so that it will open in full screen function by clicking on our links? Any help would be so much appreciated.
Rob

Kirk,
I copied the wrong part. Here it is again.
Need a little help with QuickTime embed tag for both IE and Firefox.
We have completed the development of a new mechanism for transmitting very large files over HTTP and I would really like to showcase this new mechanism with QuickTime, my favorite media player. Problem, I do not know how to build the embed tag that will play the Full Screen like what is seen here on the Batman trailer: http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/batman_begins/trailer4/
Key Point: I do not want to use iTunes as they did with the Batman trailer.
When the solution is completed, I would like to have a web page that allows my users to select from a link to play the video in full screen. Once the request is executed, the browser will start playing the video in full screen within the browser.
1. Is it possible to do this without iTunes?
2. Is it possible to do Full Screen without leaving the browser? I understand that you could create an XML file to do this but it calls the users local QuickTime player, which I do not want to do.

<?quicktime type="application/x-quicktime-media-link"?>
/>
"clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC8 0-D3488ABDDC6B" width="320" height="240" codebase="" class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab">"http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab">

Please advise how I can create a solution with QuickTime to deliver Full Screen video from the embed tag without leaving the browser. Thank you in advance for any advise. As soon as we have completed the beta test of the new HTTP mechanism, I look forward to turning it over to this list first. You will be able to load video, VR’s very very very fast.
Best,
Donald

• Open movies in quicktime full screen by default

I've got a question regarding quicktime pro for windows: is it possible to launch movies in full screen by default?
The thing is that the movies will be shown on a video wall. The actual computer that is connected to the video wall is mounted directly behind it, a few meters above the ground, and cannot be used as a work station. Therefore, any changes to the media files playing on the video wall are made from another pc via Remote Desktop Connection: transfer a new media file to the start up folder and then reboot the (video wall) computer. This is why it is necessary that movies open in full screen by default. Is it possible?
Thanks!

Thank you so much! I never thought of changing the movie itself - I only tried to change the player settings...

• Full screen quicktime at 1680 x 1050

Have any of you heard that quicktime running full screen at 1680 x 1050 can be a problem because the 1050 height is not divisible by four???

Because that's a low barrier to entry (a content provider could just add a few pixels to make it 1052 and take advantage of the computational savings), many of the recent ones like MPEG-4 and Sorenson work better given these dimensions. I think older codecs like Cinepak may have have a divisible by 2 but I'm probably wrong about that. (Cinepak doesn't look very good anyway).
Perhaps one of the "archive" formats like PNG or Animation might play at the same speed, but they're quite computationally intensive as well. What are you trying to accomplish at this specific resolution?
