QUicktime 7.2 Pro Player no longer sees my Inspire 1394

After updating to QTPro 7.2 I'm no longer able to use my Presonus Inspire 1394 as an input device. It only does it in QTPlayer. Logic, Soundtrack, Garageband and even iChat see it as a valid input device. Definitely a bug.
I thought it might be a corrupted system so I spent a day reformatting, reinstalling etc. Worked great under 7.1.6. Ran the 7.2 update, no more Inspire.
Hope Apple gets this fixed soon. I'm using Soundtrack now to do my simple recordings that normally would be done in QTPro.

Do an A&I install, update to 7.1.6 and wait for a version that works. You should really clone your system to a bootable disk with Super Duper then when you run into these problems, boot into the clone and then clone that good system back. I have clones for all my macs and do this regularly.

Thanks. I just closed Itunes, came back today to check it out and the pull down menu with "Computer" or "Apple TV" was inexplicably back again and everything now works. I had tried restarting Itunes, the modem, and router before with no luck. Anyway, it's magically working.

I was finally able to resolve this issue. I went to LaCie's site and went to the support area to find troubleshooting steps for my particular drive. It turns out that the problem was corrected when I swapped the power supply cord of the "troubled" drive with another LaCie drive that I have and that seemed to resolve the problem. Thank you Tony for your help. I appreciate you guys!

HT1338 Quicktime Player no longer plays under Mountain Lion

Quicktime Player no longer plays under Mountain Lion. It loads, I can see the video but it does not move when clicked on to advance. It does move page by page mannually with the arrow buttons but does not play when clicked on the video advance button.

Is this a known problem?
Yes, if you mean that the MOV file may contain data that is not supported by the QT X AV Foundation, Modernizer, and Convert 64-bit QT X structures embedded in the Mavericks and Yosemite operating systems but still supported by the 32-bit QT 7 structure still included in these operating systems and/or supported by the "open" codec configuration accessible by QT 7.
Has the format of mov files been changed?
I don't believe the file container format has changed but security updates and/or Mavericks/Yosemite codec support limitations may fail to recognize or support a particular file container/data compression format combination. Since you have not provided any information regarding the data actually contained in the MOV file, it is impossible to be more specific here. However, in most cases it is possible to use any of the available FFmpegX based transcoding utilities to manually convert unsupported data to file/compression combinations that are compatible with both QT X and QT 7 based apps under any current Mac OS X systems.

I first import all my assets, build my DVD, which may include one or more menus, pictures, music, etc. I use the simulator to test all aspects of video before burning. Making sure that the end jump works, if I add chapters, going to each chapter making sure buttons and end jumps for the chapters work. When I am satisfied I then go to burn/format function and delete or reuse any folders that the computer advises. The resolution is SD, display mode 16.9, Lossless linking, red laser, single, one side 12 cm. Thats about it. Haven't had a problem in the past just wondering what I could be doing wrong now. I am workingo on an imac, MAC OS X, 10.7.4, 2.93 GHz, Intel Core 17, Memory 8GB, 133mHz,DDR3.

i have x-mirage1.06.6 running on my 10.6.8 minimac wired to my lan, and my 10.9.5 macbook pro sees it wirelessly & can display on it just fine.

ITunes + iPhone 3G = no longer sees

I have a problem with my iTunes, it no longer sees my iPhone 3G.
Here's what I did:
- I uninstalled the Asus AI Load (manages the power of the USB ports when products Apple is connected).
- I deleted all the iTunes preferences (folder "iTunes" in Music).
- Depending on the Apple forums and the docs, so I put the DFU mode and I restored.
- I completely uninstalled components Apple and I have reinstalled (the last DL
iTunes).
Nothing worked!
I am in Windows Pro 7 x64, x64 with iTunes + iPhone 3G 4.1.2.
My mac, it is well recognized. By cons when I plug in Win, my iTunes stopped responding, but such moves well and I recovered photos.
If you have any tracks would be cool because I like (finally) to synchronize my phone!

Well I'll give this a try, but I see no reason why this should necessarily help. My phone has been plugged into a USB port on an Iomega MiniMax external hard drive and has been instantly recognised for weeks before a couple of nights ago.
Its extremely frustrating that on a £1200 computer you only get three USB ports - absolutely pathetic considering the mini has 4. I've seen apologists for Apple saying that the keyboard gives you more, but what if you use bluetooth? And as anyone knows - try using a keyboard hub for anything more than a mouse, and misery soon results!

ID no longer sees my iPad via Folio Builder

I've run into an issue where InDesign CS6 no longer sees my iPad via Folio Builder. It was working perfectly for weeks during my app build. Was able to conduct unit tests throughout build but for some reason InDesign no longer sees the iPad. When I connect the iPad to my macbook pro via usb, iTunes detects and recognizes it. I have all the recent software updates installed. I even reinstalled Adobe Viewer app. I make sure Adobe Viewer is running on my iPad and cable is connected. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Premiere Pro CC no longer reading embedded captions

Premiere Pro CC no longer recognizes captions embedded into a Quicktime file using the XDCAM HD 422 50Mbit codec.
We created several hundred files using the new Premiere CC - all by attaching .scc data to a Quicktime file using the XDCAM HD 422 50Mbit format. We had another department that would then open those files, trim as needed for different deliveries, and then re-export - maintaining the captions throughout the process.
However, as of yesterday - Premiere CC is no longer reading the embedded caption information when we re-open the file in CC. If I open the file in Quicktime, I can display the captions. Also, our Vantage system and Baton file analyzer BOTH see the captions - so they are still there. However, Premiere CC no longer recognizes them. This appears to only be a problem with the XDCAM codec as I found a file encoded to ProRes 422 with embedded captions and it opens up into Premiere CC and properly locates and separates out the captions onto V2 as expected.
I'm really stumped on this one. I've tested 5 different Premiere systems here (all Mac based) and it's happening across all of them. It was working fine previously. To my knowledge - we didn't do any updates to these Premiere system since this started happening.
I tried some of the usual stuff - restart, trash preferences, update (it did download and install the most recent Dynamic Link update but didn't find anything else). Still stuck.
Any suggestions would be REALLY appreciated.

Well - that's consistent with the additional testing I've done. Any MPEG based codecs do not work - while ProRes, DVCPro and others work fine upon re-import. I could have sworn we had it working previously as we've been doing the export - reimport workflow since CCs release but I'll have to go back and look at the exact file formats they were using for the last few weeks. Perhaps someone goofed on our encoder settings and they were somehow going out to some non-MPEG format for a few weeks.
Hopefully getting the importMPEG function to work in a future update is high on the priority list.

Has anyone seen this phrase - Future Pro Player Edition?

I purchased it, I got a key to enter. I enter it. I get this line following the key code - Quick Time Key: Future Pro Player Edition.
I get no access to any fo the advertised Quick Time Por benifits. My requests for support from Apple leads only to a run around. No one seems to be able to explain what this is all about. Any suggestions? I have run a search using those key words in every data base I can find and get no responses, including this forum.

I have the same problem on a laptop that was just delivered. I installed quicktime version 7.1.3, and then loaded the just purchased quicktime pro key. The system says that it is Future Pro Player Edition. I suspect that since the original system had quicktime 6 installed, something remains in the registry which makes that quicktime pro still think it is quicktime 6. I have made numerous requests to the apple store for help with their product, and all they could do was direct me to this web site.
Any ideas as to what I can do? I have uninstalled quicktime and then reinstalled it, but the error remains.

Does anyone know if there is a way to convert quicktime to windows media player. I need to run both files on a web site. I am on a macintosh so let me know if there is a way

I am puzzled how you could have exported anything if you don't already have QT Pro, unless you used some third-party encoding program. As far as Cinepak goes, you must keep in mind that it is an almost ancient codec and lacks the superior quality of many newer codecs at low datarates. However, assuming your source file is high quality, you can try a 320x240 Cinepak avi using 30 FPS, a Keyframe interval of 60 and a datarate of 180Kbytes a sec. Those are the settings enabled for the 2X CD encoding preset in QT6. That will take the file size up to about 10 megs per minute, if that is acceptable to you. While it will not be equal to H264 or Mpeg-4 it would not look terrible.
To answer the question about Pro doing better, it is not really an issue. If you have an encoder program that can set the parameters I mention above, it will look just as good as the file that QT Pro would export using the same settings.

HELP! HELP! HELP! ****** With Quicktime 5.0 Pro for Windows

I'm in desperate need of a registration code (key number - approx 20 characters) for Quicktime 5.0 Pro for Windows. I have the "free" version of Quicktime 5.0 for Windows, but the poorly designed "Movie Shaker" software from Sony will only work with Quicktime 5.0 for Windows . . . which I have, but I need to unlock some of the grayed out features which require the "Pro" Version.
I've gone to Apple's website and purchased Quicktime 7.0 Pro for Mac and Windows . . . numbers won't work in older versions. I've called Apple Support and they will not provide anything for software that they no longer support . . . thus my "catch 22". I've tried all of my friends, assoiciates, E-bay, everything . . . no luck.

Can't set Quicktime as default media player

I have Quicktime Pro 7.1.3 on Windows XP Pro (SP2)
When I insert a DVD movie to play...the dialogue box for me to choose an application only has Windows Media Player. I can use Quicktime to watch the movie. Also, I can't even set Quicktime as my default media player under "Start->Set Program Access and Defaults->Custom"
There isn't an option for me to set Quicktime as my default player anywhere. I've tried setting the preferences in Quicktime to recognize those file types but still nothing. I know that Quicktime is installed correctly because I can use it to watch .mov files and watch Quicktime content on the web.
Any suggestions as to how I can get Quicktime to be my default media player or watch a movie using QT?

QuickTime Player is not licensed for MPEG-2 playback (the format found on DVD's). It will never be able to view "Hollywood" DVD's because those contain CSS (encryption).
