QuickTime 7.3.1 will not uninstall

I tried to update to version 7.4.14 but the older version will not uninstall. I get a splash screen that says "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resourse that is unavailable" it goes on to say "Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'QuickTime.msi' in the box below. I've got the install exe for 7.3.1 but do not know how to extract the QuickTime.msi from it because when I run the old executable for 7.3.1 I get the same splash sceen above. Doee anyone know how to resolve this?

With that complex of symptoms, let's try the following procedure.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Now launch Windows Installer CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find any QuickTime entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those QuickTime entries, and click “remove”.
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
3. Open Program Files.
4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx. (If “Hide filename extensions for known file types” is enabled on the PC, then those two files will appear as “QuickTime” and QuickTimeVR”.)
7. Restart your computer.
Now try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • After downloading latest quicktime update, itunes store will not load

Has anyone had this same problem after downloading latest quicktime update. iTunes store will not load.

This happened to me today as well post installing the latest version of itunes.   I did a search on google for the error and came across a recommendation to :
Note: Start Windows in Safe Mode to complete any of the following steps if you're unable to access Windows normally due to the msvcr80.dll error.
If, and only if, you're receiving the msvcr80.dll is missing error when you open Apple iTunes, do the following: (skip this step if your msvcr80.dll error is occurring with a different program)
Uninstall from Windows the following five programs in this order: iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and finally Apple Application Support. If you have iCloud, remove it as well.
Uninstalling these programs in Windows is done from an applet in Control Panel called Programs & Features (in Windows 8, 7, or Vista) or Add or Remove Programs (in Windows XP).
Note: Songs and playlists in iTunes will not be removed when you uninstall the iTunes program or any of the other, already-mentioned Apple programs. If you'd still like to back them up, they're usually located in the My Music folder in Windows.
Download the latest version of iTunes from Appleand note the location you're saving it to so you can find it once it's done.
Run the iTunes installation as an administrator. If you're not sure how to do that, see How Do I Open an Elevated Command Prompt? for help. That procedure shows you how to open the Command Prompt program as an administrator, but the steps are essentially the same for anything, including the iTunes installation package you just downloaded.
A general overview of removing and reinstalling iTunes can also be found here on Apple's site but the above procedure seems to work better in this particular situation.

  • I upgraded from 3.6.13 to Beta 4.0 and now Firefox will not open at all I tried to uninstall to start again but it will not uninstall either it does nothing.

I uninstalled Beta 4 and re-installed 3.6.13 now Firefox will not open at all I tried to uninstall to start again but it will not uninstall either it does nothing, I have been using Firefox for a long time but cannot resolve this problem can anyone help and give me a solution please. As I use Firefox as my web browser it is very frustrating.
The fact it will not uninstall appears to be something completely new as nobody I know who uses Firefox has ever encountered this in the past.

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • I have installed a free download from an older version adobe reader and it will not uninstall?

Most programs unistall easily from the control panels add/remove programs icon application.
This older version i installed on my computer will not uninstall.
    Any sggestions.
It tends to stall out or not uninstall at all.
There is not even an unistall choice available any more on the add/remove programs.

You can try using this tool to remove all traces of previous version(s) of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • "Apple Mobile Device Support" will NOT uninstall from my computer, so I am still unable to upload iTunes

"Apple Mobile Device Support" will NOT uninstall from my computer so I am still unable to upload iTunes.  I have tried it multiple times in multiple ways and after the uninstall always fails.  Solutions to this specific problem?

I don't know... A link to the official repair advice is given at the top of my user tip. There was a new build of the iTunes 11.1.4.62 setup file released yesterday which is supposed to install cleanly on any system still back on iTunes 11.1.3.8, however they are still giving the same advice for problem systems that have already been upgraded. I.e. the new installer won't repair a currently borked install.
You can download 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and unpack the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file into its components, then try installing them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). AMDS might not install right now, but you may get a more useful error message as to why not, and you might be able to run iTunes even if you can't update your devices at this stage.

    Hey petanque1,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues installing iTunes for Windows. The following article outlines the error message you are receiving and a potential resolution:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Some Windows customers may experience installation issues while trying to install or open iTunes 11.1.4.
    Symptoms may include:
"The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer"
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 126)”
"Runtime Error: R6034 - An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly"
"Entry point not found: videoTracks@QTMovie@@QBE?AV?$Vector@V?$RefPtr@VQTTrack@@@***@@$0A@VCrashOnOverf low@@***@@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\WebKit.dll”
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
    1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
    2. If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    3. Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
    1. Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
    2. Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using theMicrosoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    3. Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Can I get Quick time video on iPad 2? Specifically, when I receive an email with quicktime on it, it will not play on the iPad.

Can I get Quick time video on iPad 2? Specifically, when I receive an email with quicktime on it, it will not play on the iPad.

Hello.  I have AV player hd.  When I touch and hold the Quicktime icon that is in a received mail message, a prompt comes up "Open in AVPlayerHD".  I click on that and a black screen opens up with the following on it:
1--A red line at the top with a short white slider button on the right hand side.  There is a time listed at each end of the red line that says 00:00
2--On the left hand side of the screen, near the middle, there are 4 icons, a colored 'x', a dialogue icon, a circular arrow and an 'i' in a circle.
3--On the right hand side there is a + and a - sign with '1.00x' in the middle of the two.
4--At the bottom of the black screen is a play icon plus forward and fast forward icons.
When I press the play icon it changes to a stop icon.
So, even though I have AV player I cannot play this Quicktime slideshow.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Java Runtime will not uninstall!

I just tried to install sun's java vm (v.1.4.1_02), but nearing the end of the installation, the install would not go any further so I had to cancel. Now my system says that the runtime environment is installed, but if I try to uninstall it in the control panel (I'm running xp), the uninstall fails. Everything seems to go ok, but when finished, the java entry is still there in my control panel. Please help. Thank you.

I have the same problem. I had two versions and the latest uninstalled but the 1.4.0_01 will not uninstall or at least it still exists in my control panel. I want to completely start over with java but I don't want mulitple versions at the same time. Please help or direct me to the answers to completely remove java.
    thanks

  • OEI will not uninstall

We have a problem in which Outlook Email Integration will not uninstall. In Windows XP, in Control Panel | using Add/Remove Software, OEI goes through the uninstall process but it doesn't actually get removed. There is still an entry in Add/Remove Software. OEI will not install because it still detects a previous install.
Is there a way to manually uninstall all traces of OEI so we can reinstall it?
Additional Info: All users are local admins.
I have fixed this on one computer by doing a System Restore and backing it up to a Restore Point before OEI was installed but would rather not have to perform a System Restore each time this happens.

Make sure that when you uninstall OEI that you do not have MS Outlook loaded.

  • PS 5 will not uninstall

This will not uninstall under any circumstances. I keep getting a message to close Photoshop.exe, but is not open. It is closed. Help.

    Hi Iwasgr8,
Even though CS% Photoshop might be closed there might be a process running in the background.
Please open task manager and go to processes and right click on the Photoshop.exe and choose  "end process tree".
If the error still persists restart the machine and then try to uninstall.
Thank you for posting on Adobe Forums.

  • HT1923 I cannot install the latest version of itunes as it instructed me to uninstall the version I had, which I did, but the "Apple mobile device support" will not uninstall.  This has left me with no itunes .  Help please

I cannot install the latest version of iTunes as it instructed me to uninstall the version I had, which I did, but the "Apple mobile device support" will not uninstall.  This has left me with no iTunes and the new version will not install until I can uninstall all the old components.  Help please

You could try downloading and installing 7-Zip (free) and downloading a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe installer, unpack the installer into its components using 7-Zip then try installing AppleApplicationSupport again. It may still fail to install but you may get more useful error messages as to why not.
