Quicktime 7.3 Overrun error

I upgraded to 7.2 then did the 7.3 Quicktime + iTunes update right after now I am unable to start iTunes or Quicktime. Here is the error I receive when starting Quicktime

I tried uninstalling but I just get these errors.
Uninstalling through the Control Panel

Uninstaling through Uninstall Application

I would appreciate some assistance in fixing this so I can sync my iPod again. I would either like to repair this (repair option in the installer fails) or remove Quicktime and reinstall it.
Much thanks.

Fixed it
I installed and ran Windows Install Clean Up
Removed Quicktime that way
Deleted Quicktime directory from C:\Program Files\
Deleted Quicktime dierectory + files from C:\WINDOWS\system32
Rebooted PC
Download and installed Quicktime 7.2
Then ran Apple Software Update

  • Issue with running QuickTime Windows.  Buffer Overrun Error - C++ Library .

Initial problem was Buffer Overrun Error (C++ Library) when clicking on QuickTime after installation. IE. QT would not even open. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831875#appliesto
    I took these steps:
    1. Tried to uninstall QuickTime by itself (it failed).
    2.
    3. Manually deleted apple, itunes and quicktime from the entire system (where ever it let me).
    4.
    5. Manually took out from the registration the apple stuff.
    6.
    7. Left the items in the recycle bin (in case there were any real issues and I needed something restored).
    8.
    9. Performed a registration cure (RegCure).
    10.
    11. Took off my entire Anti Virus.
    12.
    13. Dropped down separately the QuickTime and separately the iTunes on desktop.
    14.
    15. Tried to install QuickTime from one of the two saved files on my desktop, but encountered a serious fault
    16.
    17. It needed the QuickTime Installer to remove QuickTime itself, else it crapped out and nothing happened. This complained for a QuickTime.msi file which was a problem.
    18.
    19. Went to the recycle bin and restored only components which were marked QuickTime Installer.
Removed the QuickTime instead of Repair.
Went to the website and Installed QuickTime 7 directly.
It opened on the desktop after installation.
Installed iTunes separately from the desktop and it opened directly.
    Rebooted my pc.
    Enabled all my Security (McAFee).
Opened one by one the QuickTime and Then the iTunes.
Created a computer restore point with a narrative for the future.
This was a very difficult task and required a lot of steps. I am glad you helped me with the removing part. Its great to have everything working again on my pc.
I hope this was helpful - it took me ageges to fix.

I'm experiencing exactly the same bug. Matter of fact, it's the first time in years that I've run across this kind of 'problem' when using non-beta software from a major player. Too bad. This really reflects poorly on Apple's credibility.

  • Quicktime buffer overrun error with windows

    Hi
I hope that some one out there can help me!!!! I have tried to install the new version of quicktime 7.4 but it won't install. And everytime that I try to open Quicktime player is gives me an error which reads:
    Buffer overrun detected!
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue exection and must now be terminated.
I have tried to uninstall quicktime and reinstall it several times. I have also used recure to try and fix it. If anyone has any more suggestion other than going to the geek squad I would really appreciate it. I have been trying to fix this for a while. Oh, I did try to go back in the recovery too and that didn't work either.
    Thank YOU

  • Quicktime Buffer Overrun Error On Vista!!

I keep getting a buffer overrun when trying to open quicktime or itunes! I've tried everything: updating, reinstalling, repairing, using an older version.. all to no avail. I can't stand it anymore! I haven't been able to update my ipod in months and I'm going crazy! Does anyone know any other solutions other than the ones listed above? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Quick Time (Audio Preferences) fails to launch with buffer overrun error

It all started a few weeks ago, after installing itunes7.0 for windows, and itunes began to annoy me (indeed drive me mad) with an error message :
"an unhandled win32 exception has occured in itunes.exe [3840]" at startup / closing immediately afterwards.
After numerous uninstall/reinstall/clean the registry/system restore attempts I managed to solve the issue-- BUT only for a few days..It failed again and so I went through the itunes support forums even found an entry
"iTunes 7 for Windows: iTunes fails to launch with an unknown error"
which suggests that my issue could be solved by :
"Open the QuickTime control panel and select the Audio tab.
In the Devices section de-select the Safe mode (waveOut only) option and click Apply."
But to my surprise, when i selected the Audio tab (and the Audio tab ONLY ) it presented me a "buffer overrun error" which indicated that the internal state of the program has been corrupt and it would be shutting down now..
    It's such a nuisance..!!
Please, help, and your help will be deeply appreciated... !
I have tried to revert to the older version and it didn't work..

let's try swapping out your existing QuickTime one more time. we'll take a few additional explicit precautions this time.
head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • ITunes/Quicktime 7.3 upgrade error - can't uninstall previous version..?

While trying to install the new version of iTunes and Quicktime, I get an error while installing:
I checked the folder, and the iTunes.msi file is definitely there.
When I quit the installer, it said to try the Tools > Download Only option in the apple update software. I did it, and opened the iTunes.msi file, and got the same error.
I also tried uninstalling iTunes from Add/Remove Programs, but the same box in the picture above pops up.
    Any suggestions?

With those ones try the following procedure:
first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.

next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:

now try another itunes install. does it go through properly this time?

  • Port overrun error while reading data in queue

I am trying to read data from various wireless sensors(5-6 in number)  which are communicating with my PC using rs232 port.
the size of data from each sensor that i am getting is 39 bytes.
I want to extract some bytes of these data for which i am using a string subset function.
Now the issue is due to the high baud rate i am not able to read data from each of them individually because before one set of data is worked on another set arrives and port overrun error occurs.
I am trying to do this using queue but could not find a possible solution.

This shouldn't be a difficult problem, as serial communication is "slow" (compared to the speed of the CPU).  You want to take advantage of LabVIEW's parallel nature and have each of your Serial devices running in parallel, taking 39 bytes of data and passing it to an "Extract useful information" subVI.  Note that you can use the same subVI for each of the 6 lines, and the time it takes to "extract the useful information" (by doing some string parsing) should take no more than a few microseconds, so it can easily be "shared" by all of your serial devices.  Alternatively, you could make this VI reentrant, so a separate and independent copy would be assigned to each device, again allowing parallel operation.
If you are still having problems, post some code.

  • I installed itunes and quick time  but when I try to open itunes I get a message that reads "quicktime failed to initialize (error -2096)"

I installed itunes and quick time  but when I try to open itunes I get a message that reads "quicktime failed to initialize (error -2096).  I have removed both itunes and quicktime from my computer and re-installed them and I still get the same message.  What do I do to get itunes to work?

That one is often a compatibility mode problem. Try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):
iTunes for Windows: How to turn off Compatibility Mode

  • When I try to open iTunes, I receive a QuickTime failed to initialize (error-2096).

When I try to open iTunes, I receive:  "QuickTime failed to initialize (error - 2096).  It also tells me to unistall iTunes and then install iTunes again.  If I uninstall iTunes, will I lose all my songs and videos?

Follow these instructions to completely remove Apple software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Then use free Ccleaner to repeatly repair your registry until it's fixed.

    download iTunes again from Apple.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
If you have 64bit Vista or Windows 7, look for the seperate download of iTunes for that further down the page.
Once installed, use the Apple Software Update under your Start Menu to fully update all Apple components.
Your content will remain on the drive in the Music > iTunes Folder, nothing is deleted.
You should be making backups of your content regularly, either through iTunes or via copying the iTunesFolder in your Music folder to a external drive.

  • Itunes and Quicktime won't start, error

my itunes/Quicktime suddenly failed to open. I get a message saying iTunes needs to close. This happened after it would not close by itself one time. I've tried to remove programs from my pc then readd them but the same error keeps happening. Can anyone help me?

    hi Double_Duce!
Message: Quicktime failed to initialize: error #63441
"Please make sure Quicktime is properly installed in this computer."
After clicking OK... the IntallDriver Module shutdown...
    Then Quicktime Error: 1606 - "Could not access network location QTComponents/. {retry} / {cancel}
hmmmm. it's actually a bit unusual (in my experience) to see both of those error messages together like that. (the 1603 at the end of the chain is just sort of a "by-blow" of the previous problems, and if we fix those the 1603 should go away of its own accord.)
let's first try doing something that has worked in the past with both of those initial error messages.
first, download and install a copy of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility (we will be using it later on):
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
then we'll try to uninstall any existing QT on your PC. use the QT portion of the complete uninstall instructions given here:
Troubleshooting iTunes, iPod Software, and QuickTime installation on Windows
... if you run into trouble on the uninstall, use the Windows Installer CleanUp utility to remove any existing QuickTime installation registry entries, and then use the uninstall instructions as a guide to a manual QT uninstall.
but even if you don't run into trouble, run the utility anyway afterwards just to make sure we've cleaned out any leftover registry entries.
once the QT has been scraped out, we'll try the careful standalone QT 7.0.3 install again.
does it go through okay this time? or do you get another error message?
    love, b

I recently began taking an online class. We are required to watch multiple videos. I was able to watch the QuickTime videos before, but now whenever I launch the videos in QuickTime I get the Error code 401. My teacher does not know whats wrong, because I do have authorization to watch the videos, I am just not sure how to go about it.
