QuickTime 7.5.5, Cannot Play Embedded Video on this Update

I recently updated te the latest version of QuickTime Update (7.5.5), and for some reason, I cannot view emedded or streaming video...for example the new promos and TV commercials on Apple.com, etc...I see the QuickTime logo, with a large question mark in front of it....am I missing a plugin of some sort, or what's the deal? It worked fine before? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi I'm having the same problem over here.
Quicktime worked just fine before the major iTunes update a few days ago. I first noticed this problem when I couldn't see Apple's new commercials for the new iPod touch games on their website, and then tonight, as I was on the interblag, any embedded audio or video content wouldn't play, but instead just stared at me with a "?" mark.
Even sites that have a "download" link for audio (the ones where once you click on the link you are taken to a dark grey screen with just the quicktime player in the middle and the song will start playing), you know, the ones where you have to right-click the links and choose "Download Linked File" won't work, because when you right-click the link and choose "Download Linked File", your Safari download will stop and say "error- missing file" or something like it.
To rule out any easy fixes that you might have in mind,
- Latest hardware/software (iMac 3.06GHz, Leopard 10.5.5, All software up-to-date...)
- Tried re-intsalling quicktime (which requires computer restarts)
- Tried trashing quicktime THEN re-installing quicktime
- Tried re-installing quicktime, then re-installing flip4mac
- Tried threatening my computer verbally
Along with xharris, any help with this problem would be lovely.

Hi All
I downloaded an iBook - the latest Max Hastings - that includes embedded videos. However on my iPad2 although the book is readable where there should be videos to play it is replaced with text saying 'Your device does not support this embedded video' I have tried deleting and downloading again and it is also the same on my iPhone5. However, someone else on the iTunes website has said it plays fine on his device. I am going to wait for ios7 to see if it works with this. Any other ideas? Anyone experienced this before with iBooks?

Someone mentioned to clear all website data and history in safari, stupid but it was either this or the below that fixed it

I cannot play a video .mov file in Photoshop Elements 12

The Photoshop Elements Editor can't play video files. The Organizer can, but only if they are supported formats. Formats like AVI, MOV, and others are not true formats but containers. The video within them could be encoded by any one of a vast number of codecs. You can find out with the free utilities GSpot or MediaInfo (Google them). Certainly GoPro and MJPEG can cause problems for Elements.
For more help, once you know the format of your problem files, you'd be better off posting your question in the Premiere Elements forum.

My iPod mini, 4gb is hard to get serviced obviously because they dont make them anymore

It's called a dock connector, not a USB port.
i found a product in the online store, that i guess you place the ipod mini on, and it gives you up to 20 or so more hours of time but then it says that you have to have a firewire port or cable?
What is it? The firewire port is on the computer, not the iPod.
If the original battery is going bad, the first thing to do is get that sorted out.

How to play embedded video in PDF

Hi, does anybody know if it's possibible to play embedded video in PDF. We created PDF's with embedded MP4 content that plays nicely in Adobe Reader Win/Mac version but not under Android.

We are sorry, this is not yet supported in Adobe Reader on Android.

Cannot play any video (even youtube vids) on my HP TouchSmart 520 with Windows 8 in Metro Mode.

Just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8.
Upgrade was uneventful.. went very smoothly.
Problem is now I cannot play any videos in the new Metro Mode (I tried using various apps... Video, youtube player, etc).. not even youtube videos.
However, when I select Desktop mode.. everything still works fine.
Any idea what is wrong ?

Welcome to HP's forum. I do not know much about Windows 8. Reading this fact sheet it says that you need to purchase the media software and upgrade to Windows 8 pro. This one is in general section. Will installation media be available for purchase? Back to Windows 8 requirements. Is Windows Media Center included in the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro? Least you are able to watch videos in other mode until you figure out what is best. Good luck frrw. Ounce you have figured out the software purchases you should post it to help others out. My computer is to old for upgrade. No drivers were made for it.

Flash wont play embedded videos only on some accounts

Here is my system and software configuration. Windows7 - IE8 32 bit -- latest Flash version. Flash plays embedded videos under administrator account but not on the other user accounts. Youtube and tests on adobe site shows flash working on all accounts. I've checked IE security settings and kill bit in the registry. Harware acceleration does not make a difference. I've unloaded and loaded Flash multiple times even in the other accounts changing account type to administrator temporarily. Nothing will make it work. I've checked firewall and Norton AV turning them on and off. I am out of ideas and out of patience. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, just wanted to tell this is exactly the same problems I have. And I have tested like you said. My administrator user account can show embeded videos correctly, but both my non-adm user account can not show correctly embeded. And tried to change non-adm account to adm - did not help.
System: Vista home, IExplorer 9
Videos on Youtube.com plays perfect and the adobe "about" flash page shows I have installed latest and I see a spinning logo with my non-adm users.
I have also checked the kill-bit in registery.
But I did find out something, unfortunally it's not a solution, but a clue what's going on - I hope.
If I open this example webpage, all I can see are 2 blank frames and a icon in upper left corner.
If I open same weblink with my adminastror, I can see the videos.

After alot of search on the web, I found some ideas. Copy the below text and save it as "test.html", and open the file in IExplorer. This html text is a mix of collected html-text from above webpage and added some from youtube.com where you get the html-code to copy&paste to embed. The source at end is using IFRAME methode.
The only visible embeded sources using my non-adm account are those that has a "classid" added or IFRAME methode. If there is no "classid" my non-adm account only sees a blank frame and icon in upper left. My administrator account does see ALL sources.
But how to fix that I can see all embeded as non-adm user - sorry, I have no clue
One extra thing: I noticed when running IExplorer as non-adm user, I can see a line in the process-list in windows taskmananger, process-name "FlashUtil10n_ActiveX.exe" with info-text "Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 10.2r152" if I try to view a webpage with flash source.
If I do the same thing with my administrator user this process is not listed in windows taskmanager.

I did some homework on your camera, and it appears to be recording H.264 video compression, Linear PCM Stereo, with a .mov file extension.
Let us do a check list to make sure we agree on the details...
a. You cannot play back the video in the Elements Organizer 12
b. Can you import this video into Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace with the program's Add Media/Files and Folder/Project Assets? Does it then show up in Project Assets with an image in the thumbnail? Can you drag the video from Project Assets to the Timeline and have the Edit Mode monitor display that video and play it back there when you hit the monitor play button?
From what I have read of your camera, you could be recording 1920 x 1080 @ 60 progressive frames per second. Can you supply an information on that? What are you or the project setting as the project preset (See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio.)

Cannot play Flash video in Chrome 64bit

I cannot play Flash videos in Facebook when I upgraded my Google Chrome on Windows 8.1 to the latest 64bit v.37 and Flash player to v.15 . The error message was "Can't load plug-in". I enabled Flash players in the plugin section, reinstall Chrome. Nothing worked until I "downgraded" my Google Chrome to 32bit. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Rebooted Windows and it is working. Note to self : It is good to reboot the system after a few weeks.

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Can't play embedded videos in Safari

I'm using Version 6.0.2 and I can't play embedded videos. Youtube is fine but if someone includes a video in a blog post, for example, there's a big white blank space where the vid is supposed to be. It happens in both Safari and Firefox. I've paused AdBlock and can't think of what else might be causing the problem. I'm running Virus Barrier X6, if that's any help, although it hasn't been a problem in the past. Could it be an extension?

After some messing around, I found out that I can't press the red/white play button on the middle of the picture. For some reason, that isn't clickable anymore. Instead, if I press anywhere on the picture preview except for the red/white play button, then the video will play fine.
I Don't remember having to do that before, but at least I can watch embedded videos again.
