Quicktime 7.5 wont play in safari

I have just updated to version 7.5 in Quicktime using my Macbook Pro and now unable to watch, for example the keynote address by Steve Jobs at the WWDC.
Fortunately the update came thru while I was watching the address on my iMac G5 still running Q/T 7.4.5 and I delayed the update till it finished.
Anyone have ideas as to what has happened?
Alan

Have tried your suggestions by running permissions repair/disk repair - all OK. I also tried to remove and re-install safari (which is the subject of another thread because something went wrong!!!) Had to resort to a partial erase & install which took me back Leopard 10.5.
Used the install disk and found I couldn't log back in under any circumstances. However, I somehow have now been able to login and currently am running Leopard 10.5.3 , Safari ver. 3.1.1 and Quick Time 7.5. and the same old problem persists that I am not able to watch the Keynote address in Safari.
It loads to the point where you see the two bars to the right of the q/t window and then turns black
with the words "no picture". In trying to open q/t after using Safari I get a error message saying the "movie could not be opened" - "operation could not be completed. OSStatus error -1409"
I am able to watch it on my iMac
Any other suggestions please.

I have uploaded and embeded a video to my website but cannot view it in Safari as it tells me there is a problem with quicktime (just keep seeeing the quictime logo). I have been able to embed the video using 'iframe' or 'real media' when using Firefox but nothing works in Safari how do I fix this?

    Two questions:
Do you have the latest version of Flash installed? Flash was recently upgraded to 9.0.45. To determine your current version click here.
If updating the plug-in, make sure you use the Intel version. Also, once installed, "repair permissions" using Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
Do you have Flip4Mac installed on your machine? If not, I suggest installing the free plug-in Flip4Mac plug-in. This converts Windows Media Player files to a Quicktime format.
Flip4Mac's preference file is located in the System Preferences panel. On the panel, Plug-ins - 1st and 3rd boxes checked; Movies panel - 1st box checked.
Repair permissions using Disk Utility in your Utilities folder when you are complete.

  • IWeb Published Quicktime Movie Won't Play in Safari. Only Quicktime Logo Shows.

I created a movie using iMovie and, after publishing my movie, using iWeb, to my MobileMe account, I visit the site using Safari, and can only see the Quicktime logo instead of my movie. When I use Firefox to view the page I created, it shows fine. I'm all up to date on my software and OS.
Any help you can offer me? It seems like all the Apple pieces aren't working well together.
All my other published movies still work fine. It's just this most recently-published one that won't show correctly.

    Hello to you all.
Translation excuse my English, I unfortunately can not do better. I have the same problem as you, I created a site for our travels in Brazil and I put videos on a page:
    http://marc.rollmann.free.fr/marc.rollmann3/Cinema-Tropical.html
Avenida jazz, Jazz avenida2 and Muritiba.
They are compressed in H.264 .mov. Only one works well on my macbook leopard snow and air ipad ios8. The two other Jazz and Jazz2 run on iPad but not macbook. Sometimes I succeeded, but this is very rare. Can anyone tell me please what I should do or not do?
    Thank you to you.
ps i have clear safari cache

  • MY QUICKTIME IN LEPORD WONT PLAY ANY MOVIES

I HAVE CLIPS THAT USETO OPEN WITH OLD QUICK TIME BEFORE UPGRADE TO SNOW LEPORD AND NOW NOTHING OPENS UP IT JUST SAYS MOVIE LOADING AND IT WILL SIT THERE NEED HELP

    You may be correct.
I am posting the following for general information:
The following only applies to those running Tiger or Leopard:
If you are experiencing trouble viewing QuickTime movies with QuickTime Player or the QuickTime browser-plug-in follow the steps in the link below to ensure that QuickTime is properly installed on your Mac
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/troubleshooting/
If you having problems watching WWDC Keynotes, tutorials or Trailers on the Apple website, check your Quicktime Player 7 settings in System Preferences:
Under Streaming, set for Automatic, enable Instant On and Play Immediately.
Under Advanced, click Mime Settings and ensure that Streaming (both kinds) are enabled.
(Note that if you are running Snow Leopard you should be using Quicktime Player 7 and not Quicktime 10.) Snow Leopard does not have a QuickTime System Preference pane. No MIME Settings options. No streaming settings. If a User has migrated from 10.5.8 then those settings have moved over (but no changes can be made). QuickTime Player 7 is in your Applications/Utilities folder (if you've got it installed). If not you can install it from the Snow Leopard DVD (Optional Installs).

  • Quicktime 7 wont play h.264 video??? how can i change that?

    Hey there
I just tried to open a avi file in imovie and noticed that i could not import it. so i opened it with quicktime, but all it does is pop up a screen telling me, that a certain codec is missing.
I would get that codec if i only knew which one.
The weird thing is, that the avi file i try to open is in H.264. it's a HD video-file.
Also, opening it with VLC is no problem, but as i wanted to edit/cut the video-file, i need to be able to open it with iMovie...
I'm running OS X Leopard, 10.5.8, all updates installed, iLife 09, Quicktime Version 7.6.4 Pro...
The info on the video-file i can get is the following:
    Format: "h264", 1920x1080, Millions
    FPS: 105.20
    Data Rate: 28.57 mbits/s
Any help on this one???...Im a little desperate tbh!
    THANKS in advance

ok, i uninstalled them... still no video, just audio.
yes...i can watch them with vlc, but my intention was to open them in iMovie, so I can edit/cut it... iMovie wont recognize the file as importable, thats when I realized thet Quicktime wont play it either!
So I figured, that once i get Quicktime to recognize it, iMovie should rec it too.
So my current situation. audio: ok, video: nothing
btw. its an .avi file. It came off of my toshiba cam
    any ideas?
    thanks in advance

  • Quicktime wont play video content from youtube

hi there i recently purchased an imac i have been sent a link to a video on the youtube web site when i try to view the video all i get is the quicktime symbol with a question mark in it.
could anyone please tell me how to view the video i have already downloaded the flipformac to view media player content
i just dont understand why quicktime wont play the video
    thanks in advance

    Go to Adobe.com........
If you can see their site...it about 99.9%, you have the flash plug-in...But, for lack of doing anything else... re-install the flash plug-in...At one point in installing the plug-in, make sure you close out all bowsers.....

  • Quicktime wont play video ANY VIDEO and I cant fix it

I have downloaded all of the software on the quicktime website and it still wont play any of my videos. all of my stuff has different extensions and i have tried a ton of varieties of them but still nothing.
Does anyone know what i could use to fix this.
I have been looking in the forms all day but i cant find any suggested software at all.
Please Email me at [email protected]
This is not what i expected from apple or any of its products.

What is the format or file extension you're trying to open via QuickTime Player?
QT can open dozens of file formats and sometimes you need third party components or codecs to view non supported formats.

  • Quicktime wont play my xvid-imagine files, even after downloading the componets it said i needed

I have uninstalled and re-installed quicktime several different times. Every time, it tells me that I am missing componets. So I went to the componet page and downloaded the xvid (thinking thats what i needed considering thats the file my movies are in), but it still wont play. I have also tried changing the options to the safe mode (gdi only) and still nothing. Is there anything else I can do??

Try using http://ninite.com/java/ninite.exe to install Java. Please note that even though you download it you have to double click it to get it to run and install.

  • Quicktime wont play anything

I recently downloaded a .mov file and it played fine, but now quicktime suddenly stopped playing it. I double click on the file and it takes a while for quicktime to even open and when it finally does it wont play the file. It opens and the movie file's name is changed to "Untitled 2" in the taskbar. There is no audio or video either. Then when I go to File->Open File and click on the one i want to play, it takes a second and then an error message appears that says:
    Buffer overrun detected!
    Program: C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QuickTimePlayer.exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled quicktime several times and I also downloaded the latest Quicktime/iTunes and it still gives me this message. I also can't play any other of my files in quicktime.
Anybody know what to do to fix this?

I recieved the same thing a couple of months ago and started to research it but never followed thru with it. I monitored it with a firewall at the time and still have what I jogged down in a notebook.
A computer you were communicating with at IP address ** has attempted to access a different port then exspected. Port 6970, this port is commonly used by Gate Trasher Trojan. Gate Trasher Trojan is a Trojan Horse program. This port 6970 is also used by Real Player and QT to recieve streaming media data.
That is what I had written at the time, certainly not a fix, but may provide some insight.

  • Quicktime wont play my movie

quicktime wont play my video cd's. when i drag and drop... it says there is an error opening it up.

Quicktime has it's limitations and can't, natively, play certain video formats.
Try VLC.  It should be able to play anything you throw at it.

  • Quicktime video email attachment wont play

I have a Quicktime email video attachment (470Kb) that wont play on my iPod Touch, just get the message 'This movie could not be played'. It plays fine on my computer so its not corrupted. I have no problems playing YouTube videos etc: so I cannot understand what the problem is. Any sugestions?

There are QuickTime formats that will not play on iPods because the video format is not correct. Height, width, frame rate, etc. are all important to whether or not a video can be played on the touch. (I could send you a link to the touch specs but it seems overly complicated.)
If you have QuickTime pro, you could convert the file to one that could be played on your touch. Even if you don't, you could copy the file into iTunes and run the iTunes conversion program on it.

  • QuickTime wont play .mov file

Does anyone know why QuickTime wont play a .mov file from an iLearn 08 training DVD. It would not import into iMovie, which is what the file was for, iMovie training. When I try to play it tells me that QuickTime does not have the software to play the clip then directs me to the quick time components page. The file has a 1920X1080 dimension and it has a HDV 1080i60, Integer (Big Endian) codec. I have downloaded various codec packages for quicktime such as flip4mac, perian, etc. Can any one help me out?

    Hi,
I actually did contact the publisher and they were very helpful. Here is a copy of the email they sent me. It should solve your problem. Good luck!
Thank you for contacting Peachpit Press. We apologize for the errors with
these files. The QuickTime clips used in chapters 5 and 6 were encoded by
the author using the HDV 1080i60 codec. iMovie 08 only works with the 1080i
codec. At the time this book shipped, iMovie 08 was not available for
    testing.
New files are available at peachpit.com here:
    http://www.peachpit.com/store/product.aspx?isbn=0321502671
Click on the Updates tab and the page will refresh, showing you the
replacement files. You may also request a replacement DVD.
    Sincerely
    Dominic
