Quicktime 7.7.4 Issue

I have been using a GoPro Hero3 Silver Edition (filming at 1080 30fps) for the last month and everything worked great until yesterday.  Yesterday I returned the GoPro and got the Black Edition for the better quality recordings, and when I was setting up the new camera, an Apple Update popped up and said there was a new version of Quiktime (7.7.4).  I installed it.  This morning I went out and shot some video at 1080 60fps and when I returned to view it on my computer I was greeted with some very drab colors and very choppy video.  So, I hooked up the camera directly to my tv and it worked just fine.  Smooth as silk with very vivid colors. Back to the computer I went, and the same thing... drab colors and choppy video.  I decided to try the video in MediaPlayer... it was exactly as the camera direct to tv was.  Sharp, smooth and vivid.  It looked live.  So I opened up some old videos to check them in Quicktime.  They were drab but not choppy.  I decided to run the video side by side... one in Media Player and one in Quicktime.  Again the same thing... Other than the fact they were running from the same video file, they looked and played totally different.  MediaPlayer played the video with beautiful quality, but in the Quicktime Player window, the video was choppy, fuzzy, and flat in color.  I uninstalled the new version of Quicktime and reinstalled the last version I had (7.73.80.64) to see if that would cure the problem, but now even that version plays video poorly.  I just reinstalled 7.7.4, but am very frustrated that it looks so crappy especially when I am working with Quicktime created files.  Any suggestions as to what has gone wrong?

  • ITunes 10.6/Quicktime 7 1080p playback issue/frame skipping

I have a playback issue with the 1080p videos on the recent version of iTunes - 10.6. I also tried playing the same videos on Quicktime where I was able to find that the videos were playing at around 20fps as opposed to their normal rate - 24fps~25fps.
I seem to barely meet the 1080p playback requirements on iTunes, but I know that I'm able to watch 1080p videos on Window Media Player(WMP) 12 without any issues. Aside from WMP, I'm able to watch 1080p videos on Youtube whenever hardware acceleration is enabled. I assume that WMP utilizes hardware acceleration as well.
The playback issue/frame skipping is probably caused by iTunes 10.6 not using hardware acceleration.

  • Quicktime X ac3 + ACC issue

    Hi all,
I've been slowly but surely trying to get all of my DVD's into itunes over the past few years and until everything was working wonderfully. I've been encoding for Apple TV with HB. (i'm only backing up movies which i own on DVD, which is legal. just wanted to get that out of the way).
Since the upgrade to SL I've noticed that Quicktime X will not open m4v files that have both ac3 & AAC audio. these files still playback fine in itunes, on the ATV, and in quicktime 7. I'm just curious if Apple is working on a fix for this issue. I would think they would have had the forethought to build in support for those of us who are specifically backing up their media to work on ATV and in Quicktime.
if their are any workarounds anyone has discovered i'd be happy to hear that as well!
    thanks,
    static14

Another thing i have found in regards to this issue and quicktime is.
When you join two clips that have both been encoded with handbrake at apple tv setting. So they both have aac as first track and ac3 as second. When they are joined together and then saved as a .mov file (so without exporting). The resulting file will play fine in itunes and quicktime, but on the apple tv, at the point where the second clip has been joined on, apple tv looses the audio.
The audio is playing as ac3 on the first clip.
Also to note when played in itunes, with joined clips you dont have the option to select between ac3 and just aac. But when playing the clip on appletv my av unit definitely shows the first clip as playing in ac3.
Any ideas as to what the story is?
What is quicktime doing when it joins the two clips?

  • QuickTime Safari Plug-In Issues

Hi, I have a 2010 mac that runs on snow leopard and I have both QuickTimeX? (latest version I think) and QuickTime 7.6.6 installed. I tried to stream a video clip on safari the other day, and while the graphics were fine and smooth, the audio would produce static "pops" like a "ch" sound at intervals throughout the clip. The period between the intervals was characterized by no audio. So basically "ch" silence for  5 seconds, "ch" again, silence for 5 seconds etc. video being fine.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Your "kitty" feed works just fine for me using Safari and Snow Leopard.
Difficult to diagnose the cause as there is no longer a QuickTime "System Preferences" pane where settings can be tested.
The "negotiating" is talk between your streaming server and the browser plug-in. Once things are settled out playback begins. And it works for me but not for you.
Test the page using a different User account. This helps rule out many issues.

  • Quicktime and macam -user issue?

i have recently installed the macam driver into the library/quicktime folder in order to use a webcam ...
and everything works fine with all kinds of applications-BUT i have had to create a new user so that skype recognises my webcam....could there be some corrupt preferences in my "old" user database?
    or why could that be?
    all help highly appreciated!

Problem resolved. I have been unable to get Firefox's reported solution to work, but was able to get resolution by loading firefox with profile manager enabled.
    ./firefox -profilemanager
This will allow you to create a new profile. I then copied out of ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox the new profile and placed my bookmarks from my original profile in the new profile folder. I then proceeded to trash and delete all instances of Firefox and the preferences. Restart and download a new version of Firefox. Make sure that Quicktime preferences has been set to not handle Flash Media. Install the new version of Firefox you just downloaded. Start up Firefox with profile manager turned on in terminal with the command above. Once you have started and created a default profile replace the profile folder contents in ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox with the contents of your clean profile created earlier. This should resolve the crashes and resolve the Quicktime issue.

  • Avid Quicktime Reference to iDVD - issues

    Hi there,
I'm having a couple of problems with attempting to get a good DVD from an Avid QT reference video. First, any blacks - dips or fades - are taking on the white background of QT. I have the export set to fill empty space with black but I still get the white flashes and the fade up and down to to a white screen. This is obviously an export QT issue. My other issue is that I am getting a lot of stuttering and artifacting during movement in the DVD that is burned in iDVD. I am new to iDVD but like the ease of use so far - I hope you can help me solve some of these issues.
    Running a G5 dual 2.7, OS 10.4.6; Avid Express Pro 4.8.4; iDVD 5; Quicktime 7.0.1
    Thanks for your help.

Open the oringal video in Quicktime Pro 7. Extract the timecode... Open the ProRes video in Quicktime Pro 7... Copy and paste (Add to Movie) the timecode into the video ... AS SAVE. (There's no video compression doing a SAVE AS.)
It works here... Russ can you confirmed this please. Want to make sure this is what the OP wants. The timecode shows in the Movie Properties window  for the SAVE AS ProRes video.

  • Quicktime Player play mov issue

    Hi
Why Quicktime Player play mov have wave line?and MPlayer play is look fine.

a very old version of Final Cut, Final Cut Express HD 3.0 ... I bought a Nikon D3100 DSLR
The Nikon D3100 records video as H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.   This is not usable in FCE.  You will need to convert the video to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec in order to edit the video  in FCE.  Try using MPEG Streamclip to convert the video clips from your D3100.  Also, before importing the converted clips into FCE, select one of the FCE Easy Setups that matches how you shot your video ... 1920x1080i60 for example ... create a new sequence and then import the converted clips.
That said, I think you may still run into some issues with such an old version of FCE.  FCE 3.0 only supported DV and HDV video, neither of which exactly matches what your D3100 can do.  You will be better off upgrading to Final Cut Pro X, the current version of Final Cut.

  • Quicktime 10.2 Playback issues

Anyone noticing flickering while playing back HD video files on Quicktime 10.2?
The two files I tested are H264 at 1280x800.
I've also tested both files in VLC and the flickering goes away.

I have the same issue. H.264, Linear PCM Videos (mov) from a Canon DSLR are rendered with frequent flickers, as though one of the frames or a small sequence of frames are black, or of significantly lower exposure. Occurs whether using Quicktime Version 10.2 (603.6). I also tested in VLC; the video plays without flickering.

  • Quicktime -50 Error (New Issue for Me)

    I have OS X 10.9 and FCP X 10.0.9
I'm doing a project with h.264 footage that is simple - a talking head in front of green screen, keyed, lower third in beginning, Photoshop PSD still background under. Audio is secondary WAV synced with FCP X's auto sync in Events feature.
I'm doing about 35 of these, each a separate project in FCP X. The events are on a 3TB internal hard drive on my Mac Pro that has about 2 TBs free.
What I'm experiencing is I do one of the projects, render it out using the Apple Devices 720p preset (fast encoding), and it works perfectly. I duplicate that project, change the edit point of the same exact video event, share it and about 90% in it stops and gives me the Quicktime -50 error.
If I duplicate that project (just the project file) and then share it, it renders fine. I delete the other project that gave me the error, and then I continue.
Some give me the error, some don't. It's all the same assets.
I haven't figured out why it gives me this error.
    Thanks!

  • 10.4.11  or QuickTime or Mail Movie Issue

I've recently started sending short QT movies via Mail. Prior to 10.4.11 the only issue I had was that movies sent from my eMac via Share (the small window/file size option) to an Intel MacBook came in as an empty file. I learned how to Export the file down to a small window and sent that off with success. However, I believe after going from 4.10 to 4.11 something happened. Using Export, when I attached the file to a Mail message the .MOV came in as an extremely small window and duplicated itself slightly askew over the other. I tried trashing the QT preferences -- did not work. Tried installing the 4.11 combo. No luck. I couldn't find a relevant Mail preference and didn't want to trash it because of all the settings that go into it. I also noted that some of the files I reduced for Export did not show up in a desktop folder. When I searched via Spotlight it said the file was there but it was not to be seen. I ended up going into an old iMac on my network which still had 4.10 and all worked fine. What's up? I don't know whether this is a system, Mail, or QT problem to even start to find an answer -- any help appreciated.
    Thanks ... MarkD

Wait for what? This tip explains that no one has a crystal ball
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1502615&tstart=0
Also, if your Mac is G5 or less it is highly unlikely anything new will come out that will make it easier, since 10.6 does not work with it.
Without any specs for Lion, any guess about if the wait is worthbit would be futile.
Is your Mac ready for 10.5 or 10.6?
Are all your applications and drivers ready?
Is your data backed up at least twice?

  • Quicktime Export as WMV issue...

Recently I've been having an issue converting some videos to WMV versions. In the past I have taken my .mov files from Final Cut, opened them in QT and then exported as a .wmv without issue. Now it seems I keep having an issue every time i try to export as a .wmv
I select it as an option and I get an error message every time that says "Parameter out of range!" "This version of WMV Export does not support the specified frame size."
Does anyone know what this means and how I can get it fixed? I just want to convert my .mov to a .wmv for a client who has windows media player.
    Thanks,
    Mike

You may need to reinstall or update your version of the Flip4Mac codecs. If you continue to have problems, you may have the best luck if you take up the issue in the Flip4Mac forums.

  • Installing itunes + quicktime rolling back action issues

hey, i know this has been mentioned before, but i have been searching hours on end to try and fix this and nothing so far
I just got an ipod touch, and when i go to the apple site to download the itunes and quicktime, i go to install and it keeps rolling back action and in the end it says that "quicktime was unable to install, itunes needs quicktime to install". I tried downloading both of the separately and they both keep rolling back actions. I dont have itunes or quicktime installed on my computer previously, and I am running them as administrators.
this is really frustrating as I cant even turn on my ipod touch because I cant install itunes, any help with this problem?
