Quicktime 7 UNINSTALL on macbookpro

I need to get QT7 off and QT6 on because I have a PRO
key for 6. I cannot get 7 off the MBP. I delete all
QT references from the hard disk but when I try to install
QT6 it always says there is a later version installed and
it won't let me install 6.
Anybody have any ideas? Please.

Botcha,
Re-Install QT7 - and then use "appzapper" to de-install the app (search Google for it). Then you should be able to install QT6. Now, be aware, GT6 is NOT universal! So it will need to run under Rosetta.
Persoanlly - I'd fork over the cash for the QT7. I did, and the advantages (HD for one thing) are just awesome...

  • HT1926 When Installing new version error is quicktime cannot uninstall old version

When trying to install new version of Quicktime, I get a error message that quicktime cannot uninstall old version. This also affects Itunes to work. Get Message Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. I think not having quicktime working affects my Itunes from launching.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATION" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up").
In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC. Now try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • QuickTime Not Uninstalling - HELP.

I have Windows Vista and recently when I tried to open iTunes it would open a window saying Windows Installer and sometimes it would actually open, not all the time. So I recently uninstalled iTunes and tried to reinstall it but it says I can't due to I already have the newer version of QuickTime so I went and tried to uninstall QuickTime and it won't let me. And a window pops up saying that I already have the newer version, but I'm not installing it!

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25 2010. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Quicktime - cannot uninstall  (prior to trying to install itunes)

When I try to install itunes a message tells me I have a newer version of quicktime installed and the installation cannot proceed
so I try to uninstall quicktime and get the same message - it seems to try to run installation not uninstall.
try to install latest version of Quicktime from apple site but still get the same message.
sadly no techie but can follow instructions/advice.

so I try to uninstall quicktime and get the same message
That usually indicates damage to the Quicktime.msi and related installation configuration information.
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.

(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • QuickTime keeps uninstalling on my computer

I have ITunes on my computer. It worked well for quite some time. Lately, everytime I open ITunes, I get the message "Itunes requires QuickTime. Please reinstall ITunes". I reinstall and it works. However, when I shut my computer down and then log back on, QuickTime is gone again. How can I stop this from happening?
    Thanks!

  • Having problems updating Quicktime  tried uninstalling said old version could not be uninstall path does not esist

cannot update quicktime installer says path does not exist

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/the-specified-p ath-does-not-exist-error/0178c3c2-c2d7-48b5-b286-a7e701af3773
C:\Program Files\Apple Software\SoftwareUpdate exe - SoftwareUpdate exe would be the file, does it exist? If so double click on it. If it doesn't update QuickTime. Does the user account have administrator permissions?
Right click SoftwareUpdate exe - Then go to Properties > Security Tab > Advanced Button > Owner Tab

  • Need quicktime reversion/uninstall

HELP! I have been running Final Cut Pro 3 stable for some years. Today I made the fatal mistake of installing automatic upgrades, including quicktime. Now I cannot boot into Final Cut Pro.
I am running OS 10.3.9. I tried the quicktime 6.5.2 reinstaller but it won't work. On my Mac HD it says "You cannot install this software on this volume -- does not contain the appropriate version of Quicktime."
I have my quicktime pro license which I purchased twice over the last 5 years.
What should I do at this point to get FCP back on line?
    Thanks
    -John
No way can I upgrade OS because it would render tens of thousands of dollars of hardware obsolete.

    See my post here.

Important! You must download the combo update for 10.3.9 and Pacifist (use version tracker) which you can use in demo mode.
And have a copy of the version of QuickTime installer you want to use.
It's may be a bit too tricky for you, but I've done it at least 5 times with success.

  • Quicktime won't uninstall

When my dad updated his itunes (on windows xp) the program stopped working completly. we backed up the itunes library and tried to repair the program. When that didn't work we uninstalled it and tried to load it up from the original disk. That also didn't work. The windows reporting feature told us to uninstall quicktime seperatly (because that is the problem) but we can't get quicktime to uninstall in the add/remove programs function of windows and now we are a bit stuck. Any help would be appreciated

Try installing QuickTime standalone, not regular over the top of it all.

Other way around. Folks report not being able to uninstall or reinstall QuickTime (and typically get your error message) after having installed one of those packages. So the first thing we try is uninstalling those other pacakages (if they are present) to see if we can get QuickTime to uninstall or reinstall.
