Quicktime audio file on my iPod shuffle?

I want to record a story I'm reading.
I assume I can use quicktime for that?
If so, how do I get that on my ipod shuffle?

After recording yourself using QuickTime Player, use this command.
File -> Export...
If you recorded as a video (not audio only), choose Audio Only for the Format.  When you click Export, this creates a 256 kbps AAC version of the recording.  Find the audio file and open it using iTunes.  iTunes imports the file and it should appear in the Music library.  If you want it to appear in iTunes as an audiobook, do a Get Info on it.  On the Info window's Options tab, set the Media Kind to Audiobook.  You can now sync this item to your shuffle as desired.

  • Importing Quicktime Audio File into itunes

I have a couple quicktime audio files that I'm trying to import into my itunes library. When I try to simply drag them into my itunes library it will not accept them.
Also I tried using the import control from the itunes window, but when I choose the the quicktime file to import it also will not go into my library. These files where orginally windows media files inwhich I converted over using the "flip4mac" program to convert the windows media files to quicktime files, but neither file type will import into itunes.
These files were simply voice recordings from a digital recorder, how do I get these audio files into my itunes library?? ... Thanks

Ya, looks like the file is still a real WMA file and all that application did was give your QT the ability to play WMA files perhaps? I am not familiar with that one. You need to locate a WMA to MP3 file converter. Some that come to mind are MediaMonkey, EasyWMA, and there are many others. Those first two might both be shareware programs and I don't have any first hand experience with them. I really haven't had the need to do this type of conversion (yet) so haven't looked into the various applications. Perhaps someone reading this can chime in if they know any free ones that work.
In the meantime, hit up versiontracker.com or download.com and do a search and see what you find. But the root cause of your problem is that the file is still in the wrong format for iTunes and iPod use.

  • Quicktime audio file to CD for playing on a CD Player can you help

I have a quicktime audio file (which seems to show as a movie?) which I have on my desktop.  I want to burn it to a CD so that my uni tutor can listen to it on a CD player.  Can you help.  I get all the way to the burn thing in disk utilities, but it won't burn.  I'm thinking it needs to be saved in another format?

Oh, thank you Martin.  I've cracked it right the way to burning the file, but it doesn't play on a CD player.  I definitely brought it through iTunes, but it shows on the CD as a Quicktime file.  I think this may be the problem.  Liz

  • How do I move MPEG audio files from my iPod to my library on my computer???

Can someone tell me how to move MPEG audio files from my iPod to my library on my computer? Somehow all my songs on my iPod are MPEGs and they won't transfer to the library. I really don't want to loose the music, and there doesn't appear to be an option to convert the MPEG to a ACC file while the MPEG is on the iPod. Please help....

iTunes/iPod does not provide a way of copying tracks from an iPod to iTunes except for purchased music. But iTunes can play MP3 files without conversion.
Here are some ways of getting files from an iPod to your PC:
    Copy from iPod to PC
It is important not to allow your iPod to sync with an empty library. If it is set to synchronise automatically you will get a message saying your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to sync – it is important to press cancel as syncing with an empty library erases all music from your iPod.
You can also prevent auto sync by holding down shift & ctrl as you plug in your iPod and keeping the keys held down until the iPod appears in iTunes.
Once you are connected, you need to set your iPod to manage music manually.

If you have an iPod with iTunes Store purchases on it, you can use it to copy your purchases to other authorized computers.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
However this is not allowed for other music.
This MacMuse tip tells you how to copy music from your iPod using Windows Explorer, but it is a bit fiddly:
    http://discussions.apple.com/messageview.jspa?messageID=797432
Otherwise you can use third party software to manage the transfer, there are a variety of programs out there, some free and some that will copy ratings and counts as well as the music files. Here is a selection, check them out and see what suits you.

  • What is the audio quality on an iPod Shuffle?

I have just received a free iPod shuffle. I would like to know whether the sound quality is different on all different models/varieties of iPods. I am an audiophile and quality is 1st priority. If one has music files as AAC format with highest bit rate possible, will it sound exactly the same on a Shuffle as on an iPod classic, or what about an iPod touch? Where can I find a description of the different audio quality of playback on these different size devices?
    Thanks

Apple does not publish audio specs on the various iPods and this information is tough to come by. They all sound pretty similar, some will have slight differences from others due to the difference in chipsets used.
Personally I think my 1st Generation iPod Shuffle has slighter better bass than the 2nd Generation Shuffle, 3rd Generation is on a par with the 1st Gen, my fifth generation iPod sound cleaner than my 160GB iPod Classic and I prefer the 2nd Generation Nano sound to all of them.

  • I'm trying to import .amr or QuickTime audio files into an imovie 11 project

My only option under Edit>import is movie, so, when I choose "movie" and locate the file on my desktop, it is not available (grayed out). How can I convert the original file [downloaded from my cell phone (.amr)] to to some form that I can use in imovie?

    gwenfromknoxville,
I have a solution for you.  I had the same problem this morning and got creative.  Here's what I did:
    Fast iTunes Pre-prep preferences check:
Preferences > Import Settings > Import UsingSelect "MP3 Encoder"
    Converting .amr file
Open .amr file with regular QuickTime (or Pro version if you have it)
In QuickTime save as "movie format" to your desktop
Drag that new file into your iTunes
Locate file and right click it
    Select "Convert to MP3"
That will give you an MP3 audio file to use in iMovie or iTunes.

  • Original audio file names in iPod

I notice whenever itunes puts music on the iPod it completely rearranges and splits the audio file (lets say mp3) into many mp3's and into many folders with totally different (and weird) file names.
Why is that and is there anyway to keep it as the original file name?
Preferably I'd like to keep all of my audio files and folders in the same organization as I do on my computer. Am I asking too much?
    Thanks

Since it seems as though Im not going to get an answer from Apple, I might as well describe my specific concerns about the iPod.
This discussion was actually from another thread I posted on.
I just do not like how the iPod handles audio files internally. Yes there may be quirky work arounds that may come close to what I would like, but it simply makes things more complicated than it really had to be. Especially since I have a ton of music that may or may not have any tags. And without a unique tag for each audio file I would not be able to import the files correctly. Also I couldn't tier my music files into many files and folders. I can make playlists for each folder, but I cant make one folder for Bach then inside that folder have many Bach albums that have their own folders. And of course, which in turn may have their own folders also.
This is 80GB remember. Thats a ton of music. I do not think its at all reasonable to use the same file structure that Apple uses for there other iPods, it just doesn't organize it well enough to be efficient.

  • Echos in QuickTime audio file when I play a page in Keynote.

I have a project that was created in Excel, placed into a PC Powerpoint program, and then sent to me, whereupon I placed it into my new Keynote program. I had earlier trouble getting the screen to stay open until the video was finished, so I decided to just get by with audio clips.
I made one audio clip with QuickTime as practice. I saved the QuickTime movie. I placed that icon onto the Keynote page. Then I heard echoes of about 2, maybe 3 voices speaking and music which I thought I had deleted I swept the page for invisible audio files but found nothing.
How can I take away the echo?

  • Audio files on my iPod not in iTunes by my choice

In order to save space on my macbook I would like to load my iPod touch with all of my audio files and then remove them from my iTunes/computer.
This is mainly for getting my audiobooks and video onto my iPod but it's quite a lot and I don't have a need for them on my computer after I load them.
Is this a good idea, is it possible? Will this interfere with getting updates and charging when attaching iPod to my computer?
I don't yet have the iPod Touch. I want it for Xmas but would like to know if this is a possibility before I decide on which model to get.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
    ~Jenn~

You can do this if you manually sync music to your Touch, but in my opinion it would not be a good idea. Are you really that short on space on your MacBook? If so look into getting an external drive.
If you don't care about losing these books and videos by all means put them on the Touch and delete them, just realize if you have to Restore the Touch you will lose all of them.

  • Quicktime audio files extremely slow loading on webpage

I have loaded four audio files onto one page of my website that I created using iWeb. This page is incredibly slow loading and just won't play on many people's computers (mac and pc alike) (including mine!).
Is there something I can use for audio files besides the quicktime player? Is there a way to have the page load faster?
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes. You can use a flash player like the examples on this demo page: Audio Players.
More player types and even a jutebox player is explained and demoed on Roddy's iWeb for Musicians sitge on this page:Music Players.
