Quicktime audio files extremely slow loading on webpage

I have loaded four audio files onto one page of my website that I created using iWeb. This page is incredibly slow loading and just won't play on many people's computers (mac and pc alike) (including mine!).
Is there something I can use for audio files besides the quicktime player? Is there a way to have the page load faster?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes. You can use a flash player like the examples on this demo page: Audio Players.
More player types and even a jutebox player is explained and demoed on Roddy's iWeb for Musicians sitge on this page:Music Players.

  • Safari is Extremely slow loading pages, like Hotmail, eBay, CNN,

For the past few days, Safari has been extremely slow loading most all pages, especially Hotmail, eBay, CNN, etc. Apple support hasn't been able to help. Hve done all the normal stuff, Reset Safari, restarted, etc.... eventually reloaded Leopard, with all updates, 10.5.2. Still slow uploading pages. Have checked network with speedtest.net, Download 5019 kb/s, Upload 363 kb/s. Was told by everyone I asked, these were good speeds, "normal." But it takes 20 seconds - 60 seconds sometime to upload a page. Have watched "activity monitor" under network, "data sent" goes out fast, data received seems to come back but then stalls. I'm not sure of what numbers I should be getting on the return. Any suggestions????

  • Quicktime audio file to CD for playing on a CD Player can you help

I have a quicktime audio file (which seems to show as a movie?) which I have on my desktop.  I want to burn it to a CD so that my uni tutor can listen to it on a CD player.  Can you help.  I get all the way to the burn thing in disk utilities, but it won't burn.  I'm thinking it needs to be saved in another format?

Oh, thank you Martin.  I've cracked it right the way to burning the file, but it doesn't play on a CD player.  I definitely brought it through iTunes, but it shows on the CD as a Quicktime file.  I think this may be the problem.  Liz

  • Importing Quicktime Audio File into itunes

I have a couple quicktime audio files that I'm trying to import into my itunes library. When I try to simply drag them into my itunes library it will not accept them.
Also I tried using the import control from the itunes window, but when I choose the the quicktime file to import it also will not go into my library. These files where orginally windows media files inwhich I converted over using the "flip4mac" program to convert the windows media files to quicktime files, but neither file type will import into itunes.
These files were simply voice recordings from a digital recorder, how do I get these audio files into my itunes library?? ... Thanks

Ya, looks like the file is still a real WMA file and all that application did was give your QT the ability to play WMA files perhaps? I am not familiar with that one. You need to locate a WMA to MP3 file converter. Some that come to mind are MediaMonkey, EasyWMA, and there are many others. Those first two might both be shareware programs and I don't have any first hand experience with them. I really haven't had the need to do this type of conversion (yet) so haven't looked into the various applications. Perhaps someone reading this can chime in if they know any free ones that work.
In the meantime, hit up versiontracker.com or download.com and do a search and see what you find. But the root cause of your problem is that the file is still in the wrong format for iTunes and iPod use.

  • I am trying to import quicktime audio files into FCPX and it's saying they're not suppored - Help?

I am trying to import quicktime audio files into FCPX and it's saying they're not suppored … Help?

Here is the How to import in itunes 11. Including the Join tracks option.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12278
Also if you have imported them then  this article gives a good understanding of how to tag these songs
    http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/audiobooks.asp
the other option would be to use an App like Audiobook Builder to stitch the tracks together in upto 12 hour long sections and sends to itunes automatically. It is available in the App Store. There are others available, Audiobook binder is free

  • Importing audio files without slowing down site?

Being new to mac and iweb, i have found that with my photo gallery web site that when i attach an audio file to play when a certain page is viewed that my site load time is dramatically slowed down.
Anybody know how to speed it up?

The files used in those flash player examples are just the mp3 files from iTunes. You upload them to the Music folder on your iDisk (or to a folder on your server), copy the code from the demo page, paste into an HTML snippet, get the URL to each audio file and you;re ready to go.http://discussions.apple.com/images/status/ball-05.gif
With iTunes I suppose you could reduce the bit rate and sample rate to lower the file size but that will reduce the audio quality. You can do the same with more control with Audacity, a free audio editing application. If you take the time to learn how to use an HTML snippet you'll get superior results.

  • Extremely slow loading a wiki page on localhost?

    Howdy,
I've set up a wiki on my localhost using mediawiki (php module in Apache.)
Safari is extremely (~15mins?) slow loading the main page, but I have no trouble loading this page in <1 sec using either Firefox or IE. I have tried the usual cleanups of Safari support files (trashing plist, cleaning up fonts, clearing history/cache, resetting Safari completely, etc.). Strangely, the file will eventually load if I let it go for more than 15 minutes. Any refresh or 'back' actions cause a new wait time to load.
I don't seem to have any problems with other pages loading from my localhost server and I don't have any trouble loading other mediawiki pages on other servers.
    Any suggestions?
    LL

One more interesting piece of datum:
I also experience this very long delay when I try to load this same wiki page from Safari on a powerbook on the local network.
However, again Firefox has no problem with the same page.

  • Quicktime audio file on my iPod shuffle?

I want to record a story I'm reading.
I assume I can use quicktime for that?
If so, how do I get that on my ipod shuffle?

After recording yourself using QuickTime Player, use this command.
    File -> Export...
If you recorded as a video (not audio only), choose Audio Only for the Format.  When you click Export, this creates a 256 kbps AAC version of the recording.  Find the audio file and open it using iTunes.  iTunes imports the file and it should appear in the Music library.  If you want it to appear in iTunes as an audiobook, do a Get Info on it.  On the Info window's Options tab, set the Media Kind to Audiobook.  You can now sync this item to your shuffle as desired.

  • I'm trying to import .amr or QuickTime audio files into an imovie 11 project

My only option under Edit>import is movie, so, when I choose "movie" and locate the file on my desktop, it is not available (grayed out). How can I convert the original file [downloaded from my cell phone (.amr)] to to some form that I can use in imovie?

    gwenfromknoxville,
I have a solution for you.  I had the same problem this morning and got creative.  Here's what I did:
    Fast iTunes Pre-prep preferences check:
Preferences > Import Settings > Import UsingSelect "MP3 Encoder"
    Converting .amr file
Open .amr file with regular QuickTime (or Pro version if you have it)
In QuickTime save as "movie format" to your desktop
Drag that new file into your iTunes
Locate file and right click it
    Select "Convert to MP3"
That will give you an MP3 audio file to use in iMovie or iTunes.

  • My Audio Files will not load??? Help please!!!

This is my first time to audition and it started with me wanting to do advanced editing from premier pro to audition.
However as you can see nothing loads, waveform or playback. This is the first to audition, so its possible im missing something very simple...
    Thanks in advance!

Adobe Phone Support is complete crap. I seemingly got hung up on after a long time of silence and being asked to hold on as he appears to look into my situation.
My work around for my solution I figured out myself is to do this:
Right click the audio file in the media browser and open into audition from premier pro. The extracted file I then edited in audition and then had to drag the extracted file from media browser in premier pro to the timeline sequence.
Right clicking the clip the premier pro time line and editing in audition screws up the extraction process creating a tiny file that does nothing.
I can make it work but it doesn't work the way Adobe intended I presume.
    Pretty irritating.

  • Echos in QuickTime audio file when I play a page in Keynote.

I have a project that was created in Excel, placed into a PC Powerpoint program, and then sent to me, whereupon I placed it into my new Keynote program. I had earlier trouble getting the screen to stay open until the video was finished, so I decided to just get by with audio clips.
I made one audio clip with QuickTime as practice. I saved the QuickTime movie. I placed that icon onto the Keynote page. Then I heard echoes of about 2, maybe 3 voices speaking and music which I thought I had deleted I swept the page for invisible audio files but found nothing.
How can I take away the echo?

  • Safari is extremely slow loading web pages, i have to latest software, no updating needed

Safari is really slow loading internet pages and uploading images. I have the latest software update. I just purchased this mac book pro within the last 3 months..just frustrating that it's already this slow so soon....Any suggestions? I called tech support and nothing they walked me through helped. He was going to reinstall everything but I wanted to wait and see if there was anything else I could possible do before considering I just got this notebook, I hate to reinstall everything. It seems like there should be a simpler solution...

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including your login items.
Launch the application(s) and test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

  • Load data from file extremely slow due to refresh

    Hi
I am loading a data from a csv file to an existing table in a PeopleSoft schema on Oracle 11G. The process works fine except that it takes an extremely long time. I suspect that this is because SQL Developer is refreshing the table list on the left hand side which for PeopleSoft 9 takes a long time because there are 65,000 tables in the schema. If my suspicion is correct it would seem a bit strange that I would need to refresh the table list when I am importing into an existing table. Can anybody confirm this ?
As a side note I have tried DBMS_STATS.GATHER_DICTIONARY_STATS (or something like that) but this has not improved the performance of loading the large object lists into the LHS or the object details in the RHS with PeopleSoft 9 - is there a way to improve this performance.
    Cheers
    Mark

There are many possible reasons for slow performance, not least the fact that sqldeveloper is probably inserting a row at a time. The best tool for this kind of job is sqlldr which is generally blisteringly fast.

    Hi
Apologies if this has been posted before.
I downloaded the update of Quicktime, I also have pro installed, and it takes FOREVER, if at all, for anything to play. My macbook sounds like it is going to explode with the effort of getting anything to play.
If anyone can help that would be great.
