Quicktime audio & video out of sync in premiere cs5

i filmed a video using the built-in isight camera in my new macbook pro and the QuickTime video recorder.  the videos look and sound fine, but when i put them into adobe premiere cs5 for editing, they audio and video get out of sync.  how do i keep this from happening?
thanks!

In most cases I convert to PNG format (Portable Network Graphics) rather than JPG. File sizes are larger than JPG but rarely prohibitively so (and if they are I will then use JPG) .
Importantly, for this generally insignificant increase in size, you get a perfect lossless graphic with PNG.
For example this whole screen capture (1920 x 1200) shot is:
  694K  PNG (lossless)
2,341K  JPG (lossless)
  493K  JPG (standard lossy)
Note that the forum scales images for display. To actually see it at full resolution you would right-click the image and 'Save As Image ...' to then view it in your favourite image viewer (I use VuePrint, XN-View and FutureixImager to view images).

Neale

  • Audio/video out of sync (audio delay) with PowerBeats wireless earphones.

I am having a problem with audio/video sync between my  PowerBeats Wireless earphones with my MacPro and MacBookPro. I have tried pairing, playing the video, pausing the video, turning off the PowerBeats, tuning the PowerBeats on, then starting the video playback again. I have the same audio delay so this not working for me. Anyone have an update as to how to fix this audio/video sync problem?

I am playing MPEG-4 movie files. I did open MPlayerX from my dock, then pulled down File to select Open which then did show the folder where these movie files are stored.  Then I was able to select a movie file, open it, and use "Decrease Audio Delay" to closely sync the audio with the video. I say closely because it is not perfect. Rather than stepping each increase or decrease in one tenth of a second, perhaps a finer adjustment would have been in milliseconds. This is the adjustment that I have with my AVR to sync the audio with the video, so I know this is a possible increment adjustment. The perfect adjustment was in between -0.4 and -0.5 second, however, this was not possible in one tenth second adjustments. The closest adjustment was with -0.4 second rather than with -0.5 second. So, adjustments in milliseconds could have been very near a perfect sync. Perhaps later versions of MPlayer will offer the adjustment selection in milliseconds. Nevertheless, this is working much, much better than before. Thank you so much. I have spent most of this day researching this problem and you have come up with by far the best solution. This problem goes all the way back to 2010 and possibly beyond for Apple products. There are hundreds of reports documenting out of sync audio/video issues with no solution that works as well as MPlayerX. Even the Beats support staff have no idea of how to resolve the audio/video out of sync.

  • Buffering pauses and audio/video out of sync, single RTMP stream w/ simple embed

    Hello,
I am running Flash Media Server on my dedicated CentOS host, and finally connected a single RTMP stream fine and am able to embed and play back the stream, but I am getting constant buffering pauses (approx every 5 secs) and audio/video out of sync by at least 5 seconds. My CPU with Flash Live Encoder is a powerhorse, never over 25% processor or ram usage while streaming, and my upload internet speed is averaging 6-8 mbps which should be more than adequate. I fear the issue is server side, however port 1935 is open and in use, not firewalled on CPU nor the host.
    Any suggestions would be great.

    Hello,
Thanks for the reply, I am using embed code generated with Flash Media Playback, as follows:

  • IMovie Problems: Photo import and audio-video out of sync.

    Photo import problem:
Some times, I have problems importing photos onto my new project, the photos will appear to be that just one same photo when played. It does not transit to the other photos following the first, it's just stuck on the first. Is this just an issue with iMovie '11? Are there any other ways to resolve this problem?
    Audio-video out of sync:
I've checked some other discussions but I'd like to raise this issue again for APPLE. There are problems exporting my 7-minute film - the video and audio go completely out of sync no matter what format I export it to. There are not a lot of clips used. I'm now trying the method to detach the audio files from the video, hopefully it works.
These issues are bothering me, in addition to a failed firmware update on Mac OSX 10.7.2 a few weeks ago. I couldn't open my computer and I had to go to the Genius Bar to have them help me backup my files on my computer and reinstall the whole system again. Anyways, any help to the above iMovie issues are greatly appreciated. Just wish that Apple will address these current issues and not just focus on improving their products with awesome features ._.

  • Audio video out of sync?

Every movie I have rented and purchased the audio is out of sync with the video. If I pause the movie sometimes it goes back into sync but doesn't last long before it goes out of sync again. I have been trying to resolve this issue for the past week. I have turned off everything on the computer that manages audio, made sure all drivers and software is up to date. I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled. I've set itunes and windows bit rate the exact same and nothing seems to fix the problem. I am running Windows 8 on a new Samsung laptop, previously I was using a Gateway laptop with no problems. From my reasearch the past couple days i see this has been on on going problem with itunes users and I hope someone has a fix. I just rented a movie from Xbox Video and it worked perfectly. I think I am going to have to make the switch to Xbox but I have movies I have downloaded to itunes and would like to watch them.
    Any help would be appreicated.

    Hello bjwilson22,
I was researching the symptom you describe and reocmmend this article named Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7 video playback performance issues found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1718
It is pretty length, but also thorough and I feel has the best advice to help troubleshoot the issue.

  • Audio/video out of sync on 'video' app

    Hi all,
I own an ipad 2 (iOS 5.1) and have purchased video content from iTunes.  I've downloaded the content to my ipad and played the content via the pre-installed 'video' app but the audio is out of sync by about half a second.
I have tried restarting the ipad and re-downloading/downloading other titles but the audio is still out of sync.
Does anyone have a solution to fix this?
    Thanks in anticipation!

This is a software issue..... do you have a bluetooth headphone?  If so, try watching a video with it and you'll see it better in sync.  iPad delays the audio to make up for the bluetooth normal delay of (150ms?)..... it seems that when you're not using a bluetooth device, it still delays the audio by that amount.

  • Photo booth - audio video out of sync problem

    Hi
I'm using Mountain Lion 10.8.1 and Photo Booth 5.0
Photo Booth has severe audio video syncing problems!! When I record a video, the audio is out of sync with the video.
I managed to get it to "sort of" work: every time I want to record a video, I restart the program. I also wait a few seconds to say something after I started to record. Movies longer than a couple of minutes are always out of sync, even when I restart the program....
Untill now I haven't been able to find a sollution for this problem. I searched the web and more people are having these difficulties and don't know how to fix it either....
Maybe someone here knows the answer to fix this problem?
I hope apple will fix this problem in their next update???
    Nice regards!

    Hi
I found the solution for the audio / video sync problem in Photo Booth!!!!!
Go to your Launchpad and open audio/midi configuration. Make sure that your input and output has the same settings. I changed the input and output to 2 channel 16-bit 44100,0 hz. And this did the trick for me!!
Now I can record as many video's after each other without restarting the program and they are all synced one hundred procent!!!!
    PROBLEM SOLVED ;-)

  • Audio & Video out of sync in itunes but not quicktime

My audio and video has never been in sync in itunes. It has been years since I have been able to watch a movie using iTunes. When I use quicktime, everything is fine, but when I use itunes, the audio and video falls out of sync. I have tried all of the suggested steps from http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1718
    I am running iTunes 10.4 - 64 bit version
    I have Windows 7 64 bit
6 GB or Ram, Quad core i7 920 cpu
2x Nvidia Geforce 285 - I have tried running it in SLI and not in SLI
I'm constantly updating my drivers and as of today (7/24/11) I have everything up to date.
Does ANYONE know whats going on?! I love using iTunes, but this is just rediculous!

I have the exact same issue, it is preventing me from using iTunes to purchase Movies and TV Shows.
    I too have an Intel i7 - 6GB RAM, and GTX 460.
    Drivers are up to date.

  • Audio/Video Out of Sync (PE 10)

I have read some posts regarding this, but they have not been helpful.
I recordered audio/video with an ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T in 720p .mp4 format.
When importing into Premiere Elements 10 on a Windows 7 (64bit) PC, the audio and video are sometimes out sync when editing, and when they are rendered to the final product, they are always out of sync.
I have tried changing to other formats (.avi), as some people stated that variable frame rate issues can come up when using a non-camcorder to record video, but the .avi actually made it worse, to the point that only the audio played.
I turned my PC off and on again, and killed all background actions on the PC.  The video plays fine in Windows Media Player and VCPlayer.
If anyone has advice as to how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.  I've spent 7 hours on this project, and am more frustrated than ever.
    Thank you.

    nierielimladris
I have downloaded your AVCHD.mp4 video, checked its properties, and studied its performance in Premiee Elements 10 Windows 7 64 bit from the point of view of import, playback of rendered Timeline in Edit Mode monitor, and playback of an AVCHD.mp4 export of that Timeline content. I stared into the monitor to watch the lip movements as the sound played  back. In any of the following I have not observed any out of sync audio.
    MediaInfo basic properties included
    a. AVCHD video compression, frame size 1280 x 720 @ 15.119 progressive frames per second (variable frame rate with minimum = 13.501 and maximum at 18.793)
    b. AAC audio, mono.
Premiere Elements 10 project preset that I used was
    NTSC
    AVCHD
    AVCHD LITE 720p24
In Project media, Interpret Footage told me that it recognized a frame rate of 15.0710.
Rendered the Timeline content and watched the lip movement as I listened to the audio. No out of sync audio.
    For export,
    Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    Presets = MP4 HD720p24
under the Advanced Button/Video Tab, I set for 1220 x 720 @ 15 progressive frames per second. The export settings dialog under Advanced Button/Video Tab looked like the following
I watched the playback of this AVCHD.mp4 export and again did not observe any out of sync audio.
All video playbacks were with Windows Media Player 12.
Have you worked specifically with the video clip that you provided for download? If you have and you
found out of sync audio, then I am suspecting that this might be a system rather than a video problem.
It is a way out stretch, but...there have been some strange display goings on with Premiere Elements 10 and NVIDIA video card drivers recently. For all these cases, the answer has been rolling back the video card driver instead of the typical "making sure you have the latest version of the driver installed". What video card are you using in your computer?
Please review and then we can decide what next.

  • Importing Captured Video from XSplit. Audio/ Video Out Of Sync

So, I have looked all over the Adobe site before posting this question. When I import video (regardless of using the file>import or dragging the file into Pr6 directly) the audio and video desync really really fast.
I've seen some thins all over, but it seems people are dealing with old vhs files, and iphones. That certainly isn't the case here.
I recorded my files through XSplit Broadcaster. It was a local recording, nothing livestreamed. I have never had issues with Pr6 or any sync issues before. When I view the file before importing, in windows media player, ebverything is perfect. Everything starts and stops at the same time, every action comes with a sound spot on. Nothing is out of sync. However, when I plug the file into Pr6, the playback goes mental. So, i figured that I could just encode the file, and maybe it was just a playback issue. This is very much NOT the case. When I encose the video it desn't get any better. This shows me it's definitely not just a playback bug, but something with Pr6.
First of all, is this isolated to the most recent version? I havent recoeded in a month or 2, but I've never had any issues sending xsplit mp4 files through Pr6. Definitely not with audio/ video desync. If anyone could help me out here, i would be more than greatful. I don't have any leads because as mentioned already, everyone else was dealing with iphone videos or old VHS files. Mine are all Mp4 files, recorded locally and directly through XSplit Broadcaster, and the video plays perfectly fine in windows media player. The only thing I have to go off of, is something about constant/ variable frame rate. But again, I have never experienced this issue before through any xsplit recordings. In the meantime, I'm off to test other samples.
I don't know if it helps, but the video in question is roughly 40 mintes long give or take. It's one of the longest videos I've has Pr6 process, but it sahould by no means be an issue. I have 16GB of ram available, and 9-10 are dedicated souly to Pr6 and it's encoder.
I can not stress enough that I have never had any issues before over the past almost a year of using Pr6 to edit my videos. PLEASE respond only if you have potential ways to help me, not just for discussion points.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I don't have a lot of free time, so I need this issue resolved as fast as humanly possible. Time is money, as they say.

  • IMovie ' 08 Audio/Video out of sync!

For some reason my audio/video in a 50:23 minute captured video are out of sync in iMovie '08. If I reveal the original .dv file in the finder and open it with Quicktime IT IS IN SYNC, but in iMovie it seems to start ok, but gets increasingly out of sync later in the video. This is evident in the Event Window, in the Project Library, and after exporting to Youtube. I've tried everything here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA25603?viewlocale=en_US
    - Yes the DV camera WAS set to 16bit audio.
    - I just updated Quicktime and iMovie, deleted the events and re-imported the seemingly okay .dv file, but they were instantly out of sync in iMovie again.
    - Since "extract audio" isn't available I tried to do it as described here:
    http://imovie08.blogspot.com/2007/08/how-to-extract-audio-from-clip.html
    ...but it didn't work.
    Any other ideas?

...A guy at the following discussion about the same issue says this:
    http://forums.mactalk.com.au/11/49711-imovie-hd-sound-out-sync.html#post608307
"iMovie doesn't lock the audio to the video - it's an old, old problem
either you import in short segments so the sound doesn't get too far out of sync
or you buy Final Cut Express - it does lock the audio to the video"

  • IMovie '11 Audio & Video Out of Sync

Hey guys like a lot of other people, I am having a problem with my audio & video synchornization with iMovie '11 on a 2011 Macbook Pro.
The video: Using iMovie '11 9.0.8-  It is 1 hour and 53 minutes long recorded through the Facetime HD Camera (1280 x 720). Audio is recorded through the internal mic.
Audio & Video get out of sync approximately 10 seconds into the video and gets progressively worse.
I have tried detaching the audio and exporting it in different formats. I have tried viewing it in MPEG Streamclip, VLC and Quicktime and it's all out of sync.
It also says "Indicates clip frame rate (24fps) is not a multiple of the current project (25fps)."
    HELP!

Thanks AppleMan1958 for the info. I will give it a try.
I would much rather keep things simple and not have to spend the money and time to learn Final Cut Pro X. It just seems silly for Apple to not include such a simple feature in iMovie 11 and force us to do these workarounds.
I am trying to make some instructional videos for my wife and I am finding I need to purchase more and more items. First a better camcorder to replace the flip with it's limited zoom and poor light ability. So I decided to get the new Canon HF R 400. Then of course a better mike so I got the Zoom H2N. So the room is a little dark so now the CN 160 led lights. Wait now I need an adapter because the Canon doesn't have a shoe to attach the lights. Oh now it seems recording HD  footage means it needs to be transcoded into files that are 6 to 10 times larger so now I need a large external drive. So I guess a workarround in imovie is better than purchasing FCPX.
The good part is that there are people such as yourself on these forums to help us newbies as we blunder along.

  • PP CS4: .avi audio/video out of sync

Hi, I just got Premier Pro CS4 because I felt too limited by Vegas Movie Studio.
I started a new project and imported the video files I wanted to use, but I'm having a strange issue. When I import .avi files and scrub through them, the audio will not skip forward, it will continue to play in order from the beginning of the video. Also when I import .avi files, a ! appears in the lower right-hand corner. When I click on it, it says: File importer detected an inconsistency in the file structure of [file].avi Reading and writing this files metadata (XMP) has been disabled.
This does not happen when I use .mp4 files.
I suspect if I converted my .avi files to .mp4, the problem will be solved (I am testing this theory now), but I literally have over 100 .avi files and it's taking a long time to convert one file, let alone 100+.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Do I need a codec? I have a DivX codec installed. Do I need to uninstall it/get a different one?
Thank you for the help! I'm looking forward to using Premier once this issue is settled.

Xvid is the open source version of DivX. They are very, very similar.
I would convert all of the DivX and Xvid material to something that PrPro can handle perfectly. If SD material, on a PC, then DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV would be perfect.
While some have actually gotten DivX, or Xvid files to Import, into PrPro, few have been without some fairly major issues, such as no Video, bad Video, no Audio, or horribly out of sync Audio.
Those two CODEC's are delivery-only formats, and are not really meant to be edited later - only viewed.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - I use an older shareware program, DigitalMedia Converter 2.7 (Deskshare), and it works well with both DivX and Xvid, going to DV-AVI. However, Deskshare has vastly updated from version 2.7, so I have no idea how well the new versions work.

  • Audio/video out of sync after export

My son Charley and I are working on a simple project, where we have imported an MP4 file into Premiere Pro, then edited it, with no problems, but when he exports the file (either to an MP4 or FLV), there is a small but noticeable audio-video sync problem on the exported file. There does not seem to be a sync or other problem with the source file, nor with the edited file as viewed within PP. But on the exported file, the audio seems to run slightly ahead of the video.
When we upload one of these exported files to Youtube or Vimeo, the sync problem seems to become more noticeable than in viewing the exported flv or mp4.
We cannot find a solution in searching the Forums. Charley consulted with another more experienced videographer, and they tried for hours to no avail.
Charley is using Premiere Pro CS5.5 on a Mac (MBP Mid-2009 2.53 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, using OSX 10.6.8).
We see lots of discussion about frame rate. Charley put the settings to 'match source' but maybe there is something else we're supposed to do.
He can post screen shots of all the settings, if that will help. Adobe provides no phone support for PP and just sends us back to this Forum.
    Any help  much appreciated.
    Michael Lanning

Kevin: OK, that's helpful. Charley is at work until 3:15 Eastern; in the meanwhile, I'm trying below to reply to your inputs; sorry if some of my questions are illogical, just reflecting my confusion.
You say to match source settings, including audio sample rate, and (I think) that we should do that by creating a new sequence at which time we select the clip and drag it to New Item button. Perhaps doing that would make some of the following questions irrelevant, I'm not sure, but here they are:
We did not check the box "Match Sequence Settings" (just under 'Export Settings'); should we have done so?
On Presets, and using FLV vs H.264:
Do we need to leave the 'Match Sequence Settings' box Unchecked if we want to use a YT or Vimeo Preset?
FLV does not seem to have a pre-set for YT or Vimeo, but does have one for 'Web.' H.264 does have YT and Vimeo pre-sets. As I've mentioned, we have been trying to make this work with FLV, as Charley found that H.264 was giving us (worse) sync problems. Maybe we should go back to H.264.
You say that "if these things don't work, "...try an similar H.264 preset to upload to" YT. Do you mean to suggest that we try exporting in H.264 instead of FLV? (If that's not what you mean, and if we still work with FLV, then I don't know what "an similar H.264 preset" would be; do you mean like the 'Web' preset?
Whether FLV or H.264, I'm unclear how ensure audio sample rate matches source.
Codecs listed on source file are H.264, AAC; does that imply that under 'Basic Audio Settings' on Audio settings tab, we should use an AAC codec rather than the MP3 now indicated?
Should we be determining the bitrate settings of the source (ie, right click the file within PP to find the properties, including bitrate?) and then using that bitrate?
Or do we resolve all this about audio sample rate simply by creating a new sequence as discussed above?
I hope these questions make sense. Thanks again for your help.
