Quicktime causes ehrecvr.exe in Windows MCE to crash

I'm not sure why I am getting this problem now but every single time I install Quicktime it causes an error with ehrecvr.exe saying that the memory could not be written and gives memory addresses. When I uninstall it the error goes away. I am thinking that one of their codecs is conflicting with windows MCE. Does anyone know if there is a work around for this or am I just stuck not being able to use Quicktime?

So it appears that Kodak EasyShare software was the culprit - I removed it and everything works fine. Now I just have to figure out how to make my camera work nice with it and then I'll be ok.

    Hi all
I'm running Windows 7 (32bit) and lately Quicktime won't launch. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing but there's no difference. I get an event log error shown below when trying to run it as an Administrator in case that was the problem.

iTunes won't run either, but I'm guessing this is due to the Quicktime issue? I've tried uninstalling both and just installing standalone Quicktime but it still won't run.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Perfect, thanks.
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000
Unknown module for iTunes, QuickTime not launching either ... nowadays the first thing I check for with that combo is if another application (other than QuickTime) has dropped old QuickTime componentry in non-standard locations on your PC.
First we'll adjust some view settings on the PC.
    1. From the Start menu, click Open.
    2. In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now, in Computer, open your C drive (or whichever drive your operating system is installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "System32" folder.
What files or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file or folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • ITunes and Quicktime don't work on Windows 7 64-bit

iTunes and Quicktime don't work on Windows 7 64-bit. I tried to uninstall and install the package according to Apple support article (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) but still the same problem. I even tried to stop the Bonjour, it didn't help either. When I try to run either iTunes or Quicktime I get a Windows error message "iTunes has stopped working", with details like this:
    Problem signature:

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Taken as a whole, the symptoms suggest that another application (other than QuickTime itself) has stashed old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • HT5016 how to install QuickTime 7.7.1 at window xp computer?

how to install QuickTime 7.7.1 at window xp computer?

    Sources I have is:
    - jdk-6u21-windows-x64.exe
    - ogs-3.1.2.2-windows.exe.
    - I created folder in c: call "java".
    - setup jdk-6u21-windows-x64.exe in (C:\java).
    - You may need to set JAVA_HOME in Environment variables with new java home (e.g C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_21) and you can add this in the Path variables:
    C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_21;C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_21/bin;C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\jre;C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\jre\bin
    - Double click on ogs-3.1.2.2-windows.exe and start setup glassfish server (I choosed Custom Installation --> Install and Configure).
    - After installation you may need to set java path in C:\glassfish3\glassfish\config\asenv.bat
by adding this line set AS_JAVA=C:\java\jdk1.6.0_21
and add in C:\glassfish3\glassfish\config\asenv.conf  this line:
    AS_JAVA="C:\java\jdk1.6.0_21"

  • Is it true that current version of Mozilla Firefox including its updates can currently cause Windows 7 and/or Windows XP to crash?

I was advised in the first week of September 2013 by our IT contractor, that the current version of Mozilla FireFox (and its updates) is causing computers with Windows 7 to crash? (NB: specifically, we have Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, 64bit). Is this still the case, and if not, do we need to upgrade to a newer version of Win7 (if one exists). Also, is there currently a problem with using Mozilla Firefox on a computer with Windows XP Home Edition, version 2002, service pack 3? NB: We have a server and our computers are on a network.
Thanks heaps, as would really like to change back to FireFox when possible.

That shouldn't be the case but most likely what I can think of is the graphics driver conflicting with Firefox. We can troubleshoot this issue if you'd like to.

  • Apple doesn't list quicktime download for 64 bit windows 8.1

However, I have a 64 bit windows 8.1. Will the Quicktime 7 player install on Windows 8.1 or is there another version available?

I am having the same problem.  I'm wondering if anyone has successfully installed on a windows 8 machine?

    Thank you

You can't one way or the other. Serial numbers are platform specific and platform swaps only apply to current  versions, meaning you have to upgrade to CS6 and make the switch.

    Hi Deklan
Why I dont know a lot about windows media centre myself yet having only just purchased a G20 a week ago.
I can tell you how I am using s-video in and not with media centre itself.
I am not sure what software the G10 came with, but I have been using Intervideo windvd creator. this allows me to record tv through s-video and then edit/burn it etc. It saves the files in mpeg format you decide the rest. You have to make sure you set it so it knows you are using s-video of course.
    hope this helps

  • Quicktime Will Not Close Open Windows

After I record a video Quicktime refuses to close any windows from those recordings.  When the red X is clicked quicktime will lag out for a few seconds at the end of which the window has not been closed.  The only way to get the window to close is to quit Quicktime with the "Close windows when quitting an application" preference enabled in the System Preferences > General.  If this preference is not enabled, Quicktime will refuse to quit and the program must be Force Quit.
I've gone and done the usual troubleshooting steps like rebooting, deleting preferences, etc...  This does not solve this issue leading me to believe it's either a poorly thought out "feature" or a bug.  Unless there is some new paradigm of closing windows that I am not familiar with of closing window, thanks to Apple;s new paradigm of changing tried and true methodologies for new "simpler", "let us do that for you" ones, this is extremely annoying for someone who want to itterate through multiple video takes quickly without unnecessarily tieing up system resources.  If I make a video that I don't want I want to just trash it and be done with it.
Anyway, does anyone know if there is any way to fix this so that I don't have dozens of videos active?

    Lets do a few things.
    1. Update QuickTime. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
    2. Open up QuickTime player.
    3. Click on Edit> QuickTime Preferences>Advanced.
    4. In the center of this section there is a "Video" section select Safe Mode.
    5. Click on Ok and go ahead and close out of QuickTime.
I have also noted that there are SEVERAL bugs with QuickTime and Nvidia Chips.
A few things I suggest you do is to update all of your drivers, and install any pending Windows Updates.
Please post if this worked for you.

    Hi whatisitagain,
Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

  • Bad Image iTunes.exe  c:windows/system32\d3d8thk.dll

I started to download 4.0 for iPhone and iTunes upgrade displayed, so I clicked OK. Download was successful installed no error. Clicked to open got this message:
Bad image iTunes.exe c:windows/system32\d3d8thk.dll designed not to rum on windows or it contains an error.
Uninstalled iTunes from system. New download of iTunes still get same error message.

    d3d8thk.dll
You're having trouble with one of your DirectX Windows operating system files there.
Perhaps the first thing we should try with that one is an sfc /scannow, as per:
[How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833]
Does the scannow find/repair any damage? If so, can you get iTunes to reinstall/launch now?

  • Starting Firefox in Private mode from the pinned ico in taskbar causes Windows Explorer to crash.

Starting Firefox in Private mode from the pinned icon in taskbar (right click, choose "New Private Window") causes Windows Explorer to crash almost everytime, but not always. Very odd.
Didn´t happen with previous versions of Firefox.
Firefox 22.0, Win 7 Ultimate with all updates applied.

    Hello Paul,
That's a very odd behavior indeed. All I can think of is that an add-on is confused and makes Firefox crash. The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

I received an ITunes and Quicktime update notice on my Windows 7 PC, from Apple this morning. During the update installation, RealPlayer installed. What gives? Why is Realplayer installing with the Apple software.

Thanks for the reply. I went back to check if there was a history in windows (Event Viewer) but could not locate it in Win7. The only updates that were in the Apple Updater window were the Quicktime and ITunes. Had I let the Realplayer continue on its own, it would have installed the Google Chrome and other apps. I let it finish installing and then removed the entire program. I do not remember checking or seeing anything saying that realplayer was being downloaded until after a reboot was requested from the ITunes Update Installer.
I just thought it was strange since I do not use Realplayer and have not downloaded any software for it.
I am on a corporate PC with a pretty thick firewall, but something may have slipped through.
    Thanks again for the assistance.
