Quicktime content will not play in Internet Explorer 8 or Chrome

Hi,
So I go to the apple website to watch some ads, the iMac videos and movie trailers.
I have quicktime 7.6.4 installed and working.
I have Tunes 9.0.2 installed and working.
I have Vista 64 bit home premium installed.
Internet Explorer 8. Quicktime content will not play. Neither the Mac ads, or the iMac videos or the movie trailers. I get the message "Quicktime required. Free download".
Google Chrome. Quicktime content will play the Mac ads and the movie trailers but will not play the iMac videos although it does try to load the video but fails to play it.
Firefox 3.5.5. Quicktime content will play the Mac ads and the iMac videos and the movie trailers.
Help.
Thanks

Just ran into this same problem after updating Itunes and Quicktime.
Got a Ipod Touch for Christmas, and downloaded latest version of Itunes and Quicktime and installed it without issue.
Quicktime movies (Mov) play fine, and mp3's play via Itunes, but in IE8 all I get is "QuickTime required. Free download" when I try to play movies on-line, such as trailers from the Apple Movie site.
Checked the plug-in folder for IE and all the QT files seem to be there.
I have uninstalled Itunes and Quicktime, restarted and re-installed but I get the same result.
Anyone got any clues ?

  • Flash Player is enabled, ActiveX Filtering disabled, yet Flash videos will not play in Internet Explorer 11

I have enabled Flash Player in add-ons for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 8.1. I also disabled ActiveX Filtering as instructed while trouble shooting... Yet, videos still will not play on webpages shown in Internet Explorer. How can I fix this, since I have already followed instructions from Adobe completely? Flash Player is supposedly already be installed in Internet Explorer 11, but it is NOT working.

Long story short, the video site is probably going to need to change their content before it works in IE11+.  I'd need some links to affected pages to tell you for sure (and even then, the complexity of websites these days makes debugging pretty painful).
In the meantime, you might just want to use Chrome for the sites that otherwise don't work.

  • Quicktime X will not play some Apple Mpeg 4 Movie Files

    Hi,
Having a strange issue.  Quicktime X will not play some of my Apple Mpeg 4 Movie files anymore.
The files open fine in Quicktime 7, but not Quicktime X.
I receive the error message "The document could not be opened. A required Codec is not available"
I have installed other codecs (Flip4Mac as well as Perian), but no luck.  Have re-installed Quicktime X (10.1) and software is all up to date (running Lion 10.7.2).  The movie file works fine if I import it to iTunes as well.
Called AppleCare Support and they could not come up with an solution.  Does anyone here have any ideas?
    Thanks!

(BTW, I just realized this was an MPEG-4 topic - my issue wasn't necessairly centered around that architecture)
Yes, I naturally assumed that you were having problems at some point with MPEG-4 Part 2 or Part 10 content.
Since I mentioned "from," I should have mentioned what the codec/wrapper was (it was captured into a .mov file using DV/NTSC via "Capture Now" in Final Cut Pro studio V7, via an analog-to-digital converter).  What makes this confusing is that files captured with the same settings sometimes open right into QuickTime X with their audio/video intact, and at other times, only the audio shows up (where upon opening that same file in QT 7, we can see both audio and video). Interestingly, the problem files icon shows up on the desktop as the generic movie icon, whereas the "normal" files' icon is the first frame of the video.
May we assume at this point that the source video data is DV-25 with 16-bit Interger (Linear PCM) audio sampled at 48.0 KHz and it is the scratch MOV file that may or may not open/play correctly in QT X but always opens correctly in QT 7?
Ultimately, though, this is an unimportant point in solving my issue. Why? Well, if I can successfully open the problem files in Compressor (e.g., see/hear the video/audio), then I can theoretically re-compress (or "re-wrap?") them to whatever codec I want - ideally one 100% compatible with QuickTime X.
I took a test file, placed it into Compressor, and applied the DV/NTSC setting to it (yes, I know, the same setting the file already had). After re-encoding (which took very little time), the file was perfectly executable in QuickTime X - both Audio and video showing as to be expected, and no real difference in quality (not that VHS source is quality to begin with).
This sounds as if the "problem" file's container may be the source of the problem. As I don't know if your Compressor test is passing the data through to a new faile container, I would make an additional test here. If your version of QT 7 is keyed for pro use, I would simply use the "Save As..." File menu option to to create a new file container. In fact, I would probably just create a "reference" file rather than another "standalone" file here—a very, very fast operation—and then open the secondary file in the QT 7 "Properties" window to ensure all of the data tracks (1 video, 2 audio, and 1 timing) are present. If all looks good, I would then try opening the reference file in QT X to see it it now plays. (I.e., whether you use a reference file here or a standalone file, the object is to see if the QT X player will now recognize all contained data tracks whether resourced by reference or physically contained in/via the new wrapper.)
Could this have been answered without knowing the complete "from" specs? Probably… which is why I posted to the help forum in the first place - the goal being some other reader may have had the same issue, and had a handy solution or suggestion, saving me the time of experimentation (what forums are great for).
I don't know about you, but I would still be looking at profile/level combination settings to see if an an assumed MPEG-4/AVC video and/or AAC audio settings had been properly encoded for QT playback.
I have no doubt that there's a technical difference between the files that created this issue in the first place. But, the solution of re-compressing with an identical codec did the trick, which for this project is good enough for me.
Recompressing data is slower than rewrapping data which is slower than rereferencing the data pointers. But, if your solution works, then that is all that matters.

  • Help Flash player will not run in Internet Explorer 11?

I have downloaded Adobe Flash Player and it will not run in Internet Explorer 11.  I have done the things suggested in the help/forum section. What else can I try?

This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Flash video, .4fv files in particular won't play in Firefox - Any one have any suggesstions? I already updated my Flash player and plays in Internet Explorer and Chrome

If you look at this page in Firefox, http://www.vpi-corp.com/Empower-Demo/index-iframe.asp, you will see that the html portion of the page loads, and if you right click in the white area in the middle, the Flash is present as well. I can view this page correctly in Internet Explorer and Chrome. I have tried to export the movie as far back as Flash 7.0, but will not resolve. I have also been able to see this video for a while in Firefox, but then mysteriously went away. Any help would be appreciated. I suspect some patch to the programming on this page will be necessary.

That f4v file is send as text/plain, maybe that is causing it

  • My verticle Spry menu will not work in Internet Explorer

I know a lot of people have posted about similar issues, and I've researched multiple "solutions" on multiple forums for something that will work, but nothing has solved the problem so far.
Here is a link to the prototype homepage: http://www.abrasivesales.com/indexnew.html
Everything looks great on my mac when opened in Firefox or Safari, however when opened on Internet Explorer on a PC, the menu ceases to be verticle, instead extending horizontally past the end of the screen.  Also, the menu items adopt a white background color, and none of the submenu items will appear when their parent menu item is rolled over.
PLEASE HELP....this issue has kept me from launching the site for a week now, and my superiors are wondering why this problem is taking me longer than it did to build the homepage in the first place, so I'd love to look like less of an idiot.
I assuming this is a CSS issue, so I've posted my CSS code below:

I solved one of my own problems.  It turns out I still had a setting for width set to "auto" instead of a pixel amount.  So now my menu displays normally and my submenus are no longer invisible.
One one tab, "Products", I set the top at -430px, which internet explorer seems to ignore.  I'm so close!  I'll search for the answer but any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Quicktime 10 will not play video, only audio

    Hi -
I cannot get my .mov files (with codec that is DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, Integer (Little Endian)) to play video in Quicktime 10... it will only play audio. That said, my .avi files from my digital camera play fine. I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.4. Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

  • Portal content is not displayed with Internet Explorer

    Hi colleagues,
We configured our SAP portal for anonymous user access. The first time this anonymous user accesses the portal, the content of the first page in the navigation is displayed correctly in the content area. However, if after that the user selects another page in the navigation (or even the same first page), the navigation is performed (i.e. corresponding node in the navigation is selected), but no content is displayed in the content area - just a blank page.
This problem happens only with the anonymous user (if using other users it works fine) and only if using Internet Explorer. I found a SAP note - 872618 (Internet Explorer May Appear to Stop Responding), describing a similar problem with Internet Explorer, but the offered patch by Microsoft is for older versions of Internet Explorer only (6.0 SP1) and is not applicable for my version of IE, which is 7.0. The content is displayed correctly with Mozilla and also with IE, but with the other, non-anonymous users.
    Portal version is 7.0 SP12.
Do you have an idea what could cause this problem?
    Many thanks,
    Georgi

  • After last uppgrade, Quicktime Pro will not play audio on my avi movies.

After last update, I will not get the audio on my old .avi movies. Does Anyone else have the same problem?

That actually did the trick. Well played. It would be nice if that were in *any* of the support documentation for AirPlay.

  • Itunes will not install on Internet Explorer 9

New Laptop Sony.  I downloaded iTunes64Setup and receive this message "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid WIndows Installer package".  Any input would be great appreciated. Thanks!

iTunes (nor any other application) installs on Internet Explorer 9 because IE9 is an application.
What version of Windows is actually running on the computer? 7? Vista?
Maybe try a search of the forums for the exact error displaying, there are several similar threads in the "More Like This" section to the right.

  • Crystal XI viewer will not open in Internet Explorer

I have a web site using ASP and we are using Crystal XI as our report program.  We developers have created the .msi file that is distributed to our QA and Production Servers so that all users can run reports and see them in Crystal Viewer using IE using any PC.
The problem is that only we developers can see the viewer in IE.  Any client that runs the reports on a virgin machine (no Crystal loaded) only gets an IE window with a red "x" in the upper left hand corner.
Does any one know why the viewer will not display?
The .msi file I created holds these fiels:
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Licence.msm
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Runtime.msm
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_ReportEngin.msm
    Microsoft_VC80_ALT_x86.msm
    Microsoft_VC80_CRT_x86.msm
Plus a dll that is custom to us.
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?  As I said it works just fine (the viewer is show in IE) on any machine that has had Crystal Reports loaded prior to the run.

Intermittent rights issues when trying to auto-deploy ActiveX controls on a machine is very onerous to resolve.
Because of security concerns, typical corporate machines prohibit users from auto-downloading and installing ActiveX controls.
When the ActiveX control is required on a machine that's locked down, the ActiveXViewer.cab file must be physically copied to the machine, and a user with administrator (preferrably local admin) rights must manually install the CRViewer.inf found in the cab file.
CR.NET and Java Reporting Component has a HTML-based zero-client viewer, that do not encounter issues with ActiveX (unless the ActiveX print control need to be used for client-side printing).
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Once I installed FF 7.0.1, all websites with Quicktime videos will not play. Each page says I need to install QT. I'm on a Mac, OSX Lion. Everything worked in FF 6.*

I'm using a Mac, OSX Lion. I've been using Firefox for years. Lately I've been using version 6.**, meaning I keep the version up to date as updates come out. Quicktime videos have never been an issue. But, once I installed FF version 7.0.1, websites now tell me I need to install QT. This makes no sense. Worked in FF 6, doesn't work in FF 7. Videos on Apple's website won't play in FF 7.0.1. Says I need to install QT. Makes no sense, QT is part of the OS X Lion install.

I had the same problem with divx also and here is a solution that will work for both first install the firefox add on Add-on Compatibility Reporter that can be found here
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
next restart firefox then install the add on unplug that is found here
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/unplug/
once that is done you might need to make sure that unplug is enabled. if done correctly after its setup you should be able to use the web player you have installed in windows to stream the videos you find on the net.
