Quicktime controls don't load in browser
I have just uploaded my website to my server but when I check it on my browser the quicktime music player doesn't appear as it used to. A gray box appears where the player used to appear which when you click on it, it brings up the player but if you're new to the site you wouldn't know to do that. The player it brings up looks like a new design so I'm wondering if the thing has been upgraded but they forgot to make it iweb friendly or something. Anyone any ideas???
They didn't forget anything in iWeb.
It's not even an iWeb issue , since iWeb doesn't care about audio or video controllers.
The audio and video plugins care.
Which controller do you see ?
The QT Controller? The HTML5 controller or the JavaScript controller.
It also depends on which browser you use.
I also get different controllers when I disable flash with ClickToFlash which then uses the HTML5 controller to play the videos/audios.

Browser images have suddenly stopped loading on my browser. WAP still works fine but webpage images are not downloading using the browser. I have cleared the cache, checked all the settings and it just won't work in BB. If I switch to Firefox all is OK again but some pages like FB just don't work in this mode - you can't post. If I go to the image address it loads and then it will show that one image on the original web page - because it's cached. HELP driving me nuts! I have got 111 meg of application memory free and 519 meg free on the media card.

Quicktime movies don't show in browser
Was having trouble with quicktime movies playing in Safari and Firefox. Each time I got the broken Q, I would restart the computer and it would work for a while. Upgraded to OS X(10.5) in hopes that might help. It didn't. No matter what I do no Quicktime in browser or a places like myspace. Any ideas?

Quicktime Controls Not Working in Browser
The Quicktime controls, play button, scrub bar, etc., do not work when I play a video in a browser. The controls display and react to clicks, but do not affect the playback of the video. I'm running 10.4.11 with QT plugin version 7.4 in Firefox 2.0.0.11.
It seems like this mostly occurs with Oreilly's Safari training videos. Other videos like Apple QT trailers play okay.
Firefox does play the video correctly sometimes which seems like its the first time during a day that I play it near as I can figure. Restarting Firefox doesn't help.
In Safari 3.0.4, the controls work with errors such as the play button rewinding the video.Maybe this will give somebody else some clues. I'm trying to display .TIFF files within IE7 or Firefox using the appropritate plugin for each. I'm on Vista32. Have installed latest ITunes and QT. Seems to be a problem with file associations with QT. Vista associations show FF as default player for .TIFF (same thing if I switch to IE7). QT MIME settings agree that FF or IE7 are default app for .TIFF. In both FF and IE7, "opening" a .TIFF file with either IE7 or FF causes QT to get control of the browser window and does not display the .TIFF file (as it used to for both FF and IE7). The .TIFF file is opening correctly with other apps, only having a problem with browser plugins. Not sure how to fix this, so will probably give up on .TIFF files in browsers for a while and see if somthing in QT gets fixed. I'm using QT Player v7.6.4 (518.35)and FF v3.5.2 and IE7 with all maint. Evidence says QT is getting control even though it should not be and is getting in the way of valid plugins.
I can however, start IE7 and manually point to a .MOV file and QT uses the QT plugin and plays the .MOV file ok. The same thing happens with FF. Open FF and manually point to a .MOV file and QT plays it ok. The problem for me is QT getting in the way of .TIFF file displays. The QT troubleshooting page shows QT installed and running ok. -
Forms 11g with Webutil don´t show in browser IE 9
Hi people,
I have a problem with Webutil. I installed th Oracle Forms/Reports 11g in Red Hat 5.5 x86_64, and when is necessary run a pure Forms, it´s works.
Now, when I will try run a Forms with Webutil, don´t show in browser IE 9 - Win 7 64bits - Java Plug-in 1.6.0_25 Using JRE version 1.6.0_25-b04 Java HotSpot(TM) Client.
What can be to show only a gray screen and dont show my Forms ? In java console don´t showed any error, neither in WLS_FORMS.log and forms-diagnost.log.

1. The JRE crashed after startup. Many times, but not always, if such a crash occurs it will leave a JRE dump file on the desktop. Its content may help to identify the cause.
2. The Forms runtime crashed at startup. Many times, but not always, a Forms dump file will be created on the server. Its content may help to identify the cause.
3. The Forms runtime was unable to start at all. This can occur on unix systems when/if there is a resource or permissions issue. One of the more common causes is if the file descriptor (nofiles) value is set too low.
4. The applet is actually running, but has attempted to display a dialog box and is awaiting your acknowledgement, but the box was wrongfully sent to the background behind the browser. A similar issue was reported in one of the JRE 1.6.0_xx series, however I don't recall which one. Uninstall your current version and install the latest which is 1.6.0_27
There are other possibilities, but these are most common.
I would recommend the following:
1. Uninstall any JRE older than 1.6.0_27. Reboot. Install 1.6.0_27
2. Set networkRetries=5 in formsweb.cfg
3. Set FORMS_TIMEOUT to 15 (default). Setting to a high value as you have is not recommended and is rarely necessary.
4. Verify that the test form works. For example:

5. It appears that you are trying to use WU_TEST_106.fmx. Instead, download an updated version of this file (the name has also changed)

"Don't load tabs until selected" option no longer there?
I have installed a new version of Firefox (long overdue) from version 17 to 31. I was able to customize everything to my liking after some fiddling around but one setting remains that I cannot rectify. Firefox's options menu no longer seems to include the "Don't load tabs until selected" checkbox as can be seen in this screenshot

"Quicktime Streaming failed to load because of an unknown error"
iTunes and Quicktime will not load, install, or uninstall because of at some point the popup message "Quicktime Streaming failed to load because of an unknown error" appears. Succesive reboots and removal of SpyBot (which may have denied access to Quicktime because of a registry setting, which of course may still be the cause of the problem...) have not fixed the problem. Any ideas?
I have struggled with the same problem for the last few years and could not find any adequate answers. Being a person who likes to run his PC clean and mean, I had stopped all those Apple Itunes / Quicktime applets and deleted Itunes application as I preferred other Media players & converters. Recently my Nokia 6300 phone suite would send me the same error every song I moved from PC to phone. The clue was that I had chosen Optimised AAC format instead of stock standard MP3. Working on this hunch, I re-activated Apple's Software Update from the Scheduled Tasks items of Control Panel to update Quicktime, Itunes and Safari. Now I have AppleMobileDeviceService.exe, iPodService.exe, iTunesHelper.exe all running and I do not get the error anymore. There is also the Bonjour (DNSResponder.exe) service to be considered. See:-

"Movie" template - odd quicktime controls & login
I have created a web site in iWeb 08, and on one part of the site I have links to six pages that use the "movie" template. Three of these have 640x480 videos, about a 50MB file, and three of them have 320x240 videos, about 25MB files. I have password security set at the site level for these pages.
On the Mac:
1) Clicking the link to go to any of the movie pages throws up the login dialogue box. I don't have to put in my password, if I just click login on the blank dialogue, it proceeds to the page. But why throw up the dialogue at all when I'm already authenticated at the site level? This seems to be something about Safari, as Firefox works properly.
2) The quicktime controls on the embedded movie don't work as they should. Left-clicking the play button does nothing. However, right clicking plays the movie. Everything works as if the mouse buttons are switched. I can, however, double left-click in the movie and it plays/pauses. This is true whether I am in Safari or Firefox.
On the PC using Internet Explorer 7:
1) The security works as expected - no dialogue for the movie pages, just for the site as you would think.
2) The quicktime controls work like you'd expect.
Bottom line - the site works as I designed it on PC, but not Mac. Is there something wrong with the Quicktime plugin for Safari and Firefox? Does Safari have issues with the security from iWeb?
BTW, I am at the newest versions of all products, including Leopard, Quicktime, Safari, Firefox. The PC I tested with is running Windows XP.
Anyone with similar problems or insights into this problem?

I will try to clarify your doubts.
In the output below both resources (proxy-connections and ssl-connections rate) are configured with a min percentage of resources (column Min), while 'Max' is set to equal to the min.

Most columns are self explanatory, 'Current' is current usage, 'Peak' is the maximum value reached, and the most important counter to monitor 'Denied' represents the amount of packets denied/dropped due to exceeding the configured limits.
On the resources themselves, Proxy-connections is simply the amount of proxied connections, in other words all connections handled at layer 7 (SSL connections are proxied, as are any connections with layer 7 load balance policies, or inspection).
So in this particular case for the proxy-connections we see that Peak is equal to the Max allocated, and as we have denies we can conclude that you have surpassed the limits for this resource. We see there were 17872 connections dropped due to that.
ssl-connections rate should be read in the same manner, however all values for this resource are in bytes/s, except for Denied counter, that is simply the amount of packets that were dropped due to exceeding this resource.
For your particular tests you have allocated a min percentage and set max equal to min, this way you make sure that this context will not use any other additional resources.
If you had set the max to unlimited during resource allocation, ACE would be allowed to use additional resources on top of those guaranteed, if those resources were available.
This might sound a great idea, but resource planning on ACE should be done carefully to avoid any sort of oversubscription, specially if you have business critical contexts.

1) When a resource is utilized to its maximum limit, the ACE denies additional requests made by any context for that resource. In other words, the action is to Drop. ACE should in theory silently drop (No RST is sent back to the client). So unless we changed something on the code, this is what you should see.
To give more context, seeing resets with SSL connections is not necessarily synonym of drops. As it is usual to see them during normal transactions.
For instance Microsoft servers are usually ungracefully terminating SSL connections with RESET. Also when there is renegotiation during an SSL transaction you may see RESETS, but this will pass unnoticed for end users.
2) ACE will simply drop/ignore new connections when we reach the maximum amount of proxied connections for that context. Exisiting connections will continue there.
As ACE doesn't respond back, client would simply retransmit, and if he is lucky maybe in the next attempt he will be able to establish the connection.
To overcome the denies, you will definitely have to increase the resource allocation. This of course, assuming you are not reaching any physical limit of the box.
As mentioned setting max as unlimited might work for you, assuming there are a lot of unused resources on the box.
3) If a new connection comes in with a sticky value, that matches the sticky entry of a real server, which is already in MAXCONNS state, then both the ACE module/appliance should reject the connection and that sticky entry would be removed.
The client would at that point reestablish a new connection and ACE would associate a new sticky entry with the flow for a new RSERVER after the loadbalancing decision.

Cant access quicktime control panel
I may be stupid or somethin, but I can't find the **** quicktime control panel to upgrade to the pro version.
I looked through my computer's control panel, there is only one user on it, but it looks like there is also an old administrator user there too.
There isn't anything about quicktime in my control panel, and I looked through the quicktime files in the c drive and didn't see anything about a control panel there either. Somebody got an idea? Because I just spent a worthless 39 dollars, and am seriously considering making the switch to linux.Thanks. I do have a lot of appreciation for the macintosh-expecially since they came out with the os x. There's no doubt about it, it will be my next computer. If only I could get one at work.
But until I can afford that new computer, it's easy to convert my windows machine into that friendly linux that I'm getting used to.
There's no mistaking that Apple is the best in the business. But with windows, it's always one thing after another. I bought a new computer a year ago, the one I had lasted me 6 years, was expecting this one to do the same. But alas, a few viruses later it was toast. HP didn't give me the software to start over, so I had to do a system restore. Needless to say I don't have time to dig through my entire hard drive deleting the remains of the virus. But hey-no problem, because I have another one on there now.
And AIM is causing some wierd things to happen with the ui, among many other problems I constantly have.
So, instead of buying a new version of windows xp, which I can only re-install twice, I'm switching to my friendly linux. Then when I can, it's apple.
I really think the only reason people don't switch to the mac is because the first time you use it, it's different enough to be confusing or even frustrating. But after the first week, anybody should be using one with confidence. Some people might need some kind of tutorial or something.

Exception Error from the Quicktime control panel/Update
When I press the Update button under the Update tab, I get the following error:
An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\Windows\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDD "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QuickTime.cpl",QuickTime"
Quicktime seems to run correctly and says I have version 7.4.1 installed, so I'm not really worried as I wind up having to manually install any updates anyways. Also, I have automatic updates disabled, I have removed the autoupdater from my startup (slowed down my windows loading), and since that Bonjour service is annoying and nonessential, I have turned it off as well.
If any of these are the reason for the error, I'm willing to live with it. Just thought I'd let you know about the update error.+When I press the Update button under the Update tab, I get the following error:+

Do you have an nVidia video card in that PC, Drakaran? That seem to be the common factor for people with the Update tab crash with 7.3.1, 7.4 and (presumably) 7.4.1 (and also the crash when they try using "Help > Update Existing Software" instead of using the Update tab in the control panel).
One way around it (for some folks) is to go to the Advanced tab in their QuickTime control panel, and check "Safe mode (GDI only)". With that setting in place, OK out of the control panel, restart QuickTime and try another check for updates. -
Color swatches don't load properly
iMac running 10.6.4. CS4.
I recently had a HD failure. I was able to clone my HD to external, replace HD (bless that apple care!), clone back the HD. Not sure if it's related to my problem which is this: the swatches don't load properly. For instance, if I select pantone process, I don't get a list like DS 13-1, DS 13-2, etc. like I should. No matter which library I select, only pantone swatches are available. Here is a QT movie of what I mean. My question is this: How do I preserve my PDF exports and print settings? I tried exporting and it seems that only the top preset actually exports. Do I have to export each PDF export setting separately? Same with print settings? Seems kind of tedious. I was hoping t export all my print and PDF settings before deleting prefs.

The print presets went in one go. The PDFs don't. The save button is grayed out.
Later on: I quit ID, started up with Command-Option-Control-Shift. If deleted my print settings but not my PDF exports. I reimported my print settings. I opened a new doc and created a rich black swatch but when I quit ID and reboot, no rich black. I think I ask this question everytime I trash my prefs but how do I make my prefs stick. All boxes also have a stroke which I don't want. No stroke, no fill, rich black swatch in the color swatches. Thanks. -
Latest Quicktime doesn't play films in browser
Looks like the latest Quicktime has a bug or something, because it is not playing any animation what soever on my browser (firefox). Keep seeing the quicktime logo with a question mark....

"QuickTime Streaming Failed to Load. . . . ." error pop up
Hi all,
I recently did the automatic upgrade for QuickTime after it asked if I wanted to download & install it. Ever since that time, whenever I load a program that requires QT, an error pop up comes on the screen that says "QuickTime Streaming failed to Load Because it was Already Loaded".
This error pops up even though no other program is using QT and QT has not been started separately. Now if I click on the pop up's "Okay", the program will go ahead and start. It's just a pain to have that popping up all the time now.
Any thoughts?

JerryI have struggled with the same problem for the last few years and could not find any adequate answers. Being a person who likes to run his PC clean and mean, I had stopped all those Apple Itunes / Quicktime applets and deleted Itunes application as I preferred other Media players & converters. Recently my Nokia 6300 phone suite would send me the same error every song I moved from PC to phone. The clue was that I had chosen Optimised AAC format instead of stock standard MP3. Working on this hunch, I re-activated Apple's Software Update from the Scheduled Tasks items of Control Panel to update Quicktime, Itunes and Safari. Now I have AppleMobileDeviceService.exe, iPodService.exe, iTunesHelper.exe all running and I do not get the error anymore. There is also the Bonjour (DNSResponder.exe) service to be considered. See:-

Some QuickTime Controls Won't Display in Safari
I have a website created with iWeb and published to MobileMe. I'm running Snow Leopard.
On my site I have about 15 audio files consisting of MP3s that I dragged onto web pages from out of iTunes. These were originally imported into iTunes from CDs.
Most of these audio files on my web pages appear with QuickTime controls underneath them and play just fine. But in the case of five of the files, no QuickTime controls appear, only a QT icon with a question mark in it.
This problem only occurs when I access my website from the MobileMe server. If I publish the site to my hard drive, all the audio files appear in my browser with QT controls and there is no problem.
Also, the problem only occurs if I use Safari. Firefox displays the QT controls for all the audio files.
Further, once I display a page with one of the audio files in Firefox, as long as I keep Firefox open, Safari will also display the QT controls for the file correctly.
Other people who have tested my site with Windows and Internet Explorer have reported to me that they have no problem with any of the files.

I am baffled by this problem, but it seems to be a problem with Safari.
