Quicktime Conversion to Windows Media

Hi,
I just finiz editing a 8 minutes movie.
When i try to export it using Quicktime Conversion to _Windows Media_, the exported file is only 30 seconds long.
I'm puzzled. Anyone knows why?
If i export to Quicktime directly, it is ok. However, when i copy it to my laptop (Windows) and open it with Quicktime 7.2, i got problems playing it. The movie is just blank white but i can still hear the audio.
Any advise? Thanks.

It's probably because you only have the trial version of Flip4Mac installed, which only gives you 30" max export times. If you want to make full use of Flip4Mac, you must invest a little cash.
There are a few different options/prices, but to get at least the basic export options I think it's about £25... might be wrong... you can of course invest in 'Episode' (also via Flip4Mac website) that will give you every possible export option and more, but costs a lot of money.

  • Export Using QuickTime Conversion To Windows Media (.wmv)

I have Final Cut Pro HD version 4.5 that runs on my G5. I have a problem when I try to export video to Windows Media file (.wmv). After I select Export / Using QuickTime Conversion and than choose Windows Media in Format box, Final Cut does compile a .wmv file. The only problem is that it's only 30 sec. long when the original video that sits on Timeline is 2 mintues long. When I export the same video to Quick Time file, everything works perfectly and the duration of .mov file is the same.
I tried to set in and out points, but it made no difference.
So now I can't make a file that can get played on Windows computer that has only Windows Media player. And .avi file is not an option since I can't get one compressed enought, so it turns out too big. I understand that I can buy some third party software to make .wmv file, but I want to make sure that out of box Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 can't make Windows Media files before spending extra money.

You need to buy the full version of flip-4-mac to encode/save to a wmv. Sounds like you only have the trail/free playback version...
You need either the pro version or studio version:

    Hi
Does anyone know if there is a way to convert quicktime to windows media player. I need to run both files on a web site. I am on a macintosh so let me know if there is a way

You can use Flip4Mac Studio or WMV-9 Export Component.

  • Quicktime Installation and Windows Media Player in IE 9

Upon installation, Quicktime becomes the add-on player of mp3 files in Internet Explorer 9 when running under Windows 7 (x64). I want to return that function to Windows Media Player. Every prospective solution I've come across so far has no effect, including altering preferences in Quicktime, changing file associations, and managing add-ons. Definitive solution, anyone?

If the website you visit to view these mp3 files is setup to use QuickTime player to handle them. Than changing file association preferences may not make a difference because the HTML is written for QT to handle

  • Camera movies to quicktime player or windows media player

  • Can I use quicktime to watch windows media streaming with authentication?

I everyone. I am running into a problem here. I have a Mac Book Pro and would like to watch some windows media streams. Until last month I was using Quicktime to watch them because they were not protected. But beginning on this month they implemented a security access where we need to put login and password in order to watch the stream.
If I try to acess that mms using Windows Media Player or Real Player on Windows, it opens a pop up asking for my username and password. However on my Mac Book Pro I can't get to this authentication screen using any player.
I have tried Quicktime, but also tried VLC, Real Player and Windows Media Player 9 for Mac. None of these play the mms since they started using the authentication scheme.
Can anyone help? Can I somehow authenticate to the sever and watch the mms on my Mac Book Pro? (I know I can use a Virtual Machine and watch this on Windows, but I would prefer to not depending on Windows)
    Appreciate any help!
    Denis

Sorry, I should have clarified that. MMS is the stream protocol used by Microsoft Media Services (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MicrosoftMediaServices) .
I know Quicktime could run it if I have Flip4Mac installed, that's why I could watch those streams until last month. The problem started after then applied authentication to those streams. Now when I go to Quicktime, select "Open URL" option, and add the stream mms address (mms://link), it just doesn't do anything. It is something with the authentication because when there was no authentication it just worked perfectly.
Is there any way to make Quicktime authenticate to a Windows Media Server?

  • Quicktime conversion to Window wmf format

I have a quicktime file that I need to convert to a windows wmf (or avi) format for placement on a website. The quicktime file is output from Final Cut Pro using the compressor -- problem is that I need to crop the resulting quicktime file to an unusual aspect ratio, greatly reduce the size (pixels by pixels, not by file size), and convert to a windows "wmf" format. My question basically is -- can anyone recommend a MAC application that will allow me to do all of the above in one pass -- I can't seem to find one that will accomplish all of these tasks -- I thought Cleaner would, but my copy won't let me -- I keep getting error messages such as "no audio track, wmf requires an audio track" or "movie size not supported" -- anyone have any suggestions??? Barring a MAC application, is there anything on the PC side that will???

    David -
Thanks for the help . . . I have the free flip4mac plug-in installed, but it never dawned on me that the full version would solve my problem . . . I haven't used Cleaner for awhile, but I thought it was supposed to be the heavy hitter in conversion scenarios . . . but it's given me nothing but trouble and no solution . . . thanks again for pointing me in a fruitful direction . . .

  • Quicktime pro and windows media formats

    hi !
im using win xp pro and have installed quicktime pro to convert my videofiles for my new ipod
that works fine for .avi-, and .mov-files but not for .wmv or m.peg movies
what plugins do i need to play/convert these types of files too ?
    thanks for feedback !
    Kurt

QuickTime can't even be used to open WMP formats without third party software help. On a Mac we use http://flip4mac.com and pay extra money for the feature.
As I stated above, QuickTime Pro can't extract audio from muxed formats so you must start with a third party application. MPEG Streamclip works for Windows and OS X and is free.

  • Quicktime slideshow to windows media?

Windows OS users can open and view your .mov file with the free QuickTime Player.
To convert to WMP formats requires QuickTime Pro and one of the upgrades from http://flip4mac.com

  • Downloading and installing windows media components for quicktime

I am relatively new to Mac and haven't really installed much other than Handbrake. I was trying to install windows media components for quicktime or even windows media player for quicktime in order to play .wmv files. However, anytime I click to download something, NOTHING HAPPENS. No download appears, nothing goes to my download stack, nothing installs. Is there something I need to know when attempting to download and install something on my Mac that I may not just know coming over from the dark side of windows?
    any help is appreciated

Yes, good advise...Flip4Mac is essential for WMV content. Here's a list of other things you might need for the various formats out there.
    VLC
    Real Player
    Perian
    Adobe Flash
    Streamclip

  • Please help. export .wmv file via QuickTime Conversion

Use FCP HD 4.5 QuickTime Conversion to export a short movie which is about 2 mintues long. I only can get exported files in 30 seconds no matter I selected default format QuickTime Moive or Windows Media. Any thing I missed?
I cleaned all markers on TimeLine, but still same
(I am using Power Mac G5 with OS X 10.4.5).
    thanks

It means your material is outside of 'safe' levels...luminance, chrominance or both.
    Quick fix...apply Broadcast safe filter
    Best fix...use Color Corrector 3-way.
You should also post a new thread with a new topic.

  • Cannot create Windows Media with PRE 8 - Writer not found

I have recently installed PRE 8 (paid single user) on my Windows 7 dual-core machine, and I have installed the 8.0.1 patch.  I can import, edit and render video and audio just fine.  I can save files as AVI and MPEG, but whenever I try to save a my movie as a Windows Media file, the rendering progress bar is displayed followed immediately by a pop-up entitled "Export error" with notification "Writer not found."  I have reinstalled PRE8, turned of my antivirus, but nothing seems to resolve this problem. I cannot seem to find any remedy on the web.  Anyone else experiencing this issue?

As I mentioned above I am running Windows 7 (omitted above: 64 Home Premium Edition). I have all updates installed, and I have verified I have latest device drivers.  With regards to QuickTime, I am suffering from the accursed "Error 46: Could not load or fine Quicktime Active X control." So I am running withouy quicktime, but do I really need an Apple product to produce Windows Media?
I have tried to correct the Error 46 problem by using the "Subinacl/Reset" solution desribed in many places (e.g. http://research.gerger.com/?view=lab:en&aID=1006 under "Quicktime Annoyances"), but that solution isn't working for me.  I can see that the issue is with registry priviledges -- no one can read the QT registry keys once QT is installed ("Insufficient Priviledge"). I suspect this solution isn't working, because I never installed an account named "administrator" on my machine, and it looks like the reset.cmd script assumes that you have.
I sure hope I don't need Quicktime to produce Windows Media, otherwise, I have spent a lot of money on a tool (PRE 8)  that won't serve my needs.
