Quicktime corrupted for iPad 2 videos - no hand cursor controls

I have a 32-bit Dell XPS M1210 laptop and a 64-bit Dell XPS 435 desktop - both of which have had hard drives recently formatted and authentic Win 7 SP1 installed. Not much on either but IE8, Office 2003, HP Printers, Live Mesh, Avast, Google Earth and a few insignificant programs which are not common to both machines. Neither had ever had Quicktime installed until today since I just started rebuilding both. Wanted to watch the iPad 2 videos just posted. Downloaded current Quicktime, installation flawless.
Quicktime will not run properly on either machine. Same exact corruption problem on both despite 64 vs. 32 bit etc. The videos play, the black centered controls for Pause, volume etc. are there, however I cannot use them. Cursor blinks to a hand for a split second as I hover over controls, but then changes back to Arrow pointer and is not clickable anywhere on video. So, I can watch the video but can't pause, rewind etc. - no controls.
I have an old Dell XPS-410 Windows Prof. XP SP3 with Quicktime 7.69.80.9 which runs the videos perfectly, pauses controls etc.
Since the only thing in common with these two machines where Quicktime is corrupted is Win 7, I suspect problem may be centered there? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. If I go find OLD quicktime clips online which have the simple gray control bar at the bottom, they do work to pause etc. AFTER the clip finishes downloading.
Any help would be appreciated.
Ruth

The ipad is certainly no replacement for a computer/laptop.
It is used in conjunction with a laptop/computer. It is simply a big ipod/iphone.
I would not even consider the ipad for your needs.

Where do I find manuals for photoshop touch for ipad (not video tutorials)?

The best way to get quickly acquainted with PS Touch is to do the built-in tutorials. There was a "quick start guide" of sorts, but as far as I know, they haven't updated it to reflect the latest version as of yet.

  • Rented video from iTunes for iPad but video is missing?

Rented video from iTunes for iPad but video is missing? Can anyone help

You're sure that it completely downloaded? There may be a downloads button at the bottom on the right side of the iTunes Store app if the movie did not finish downloading.
Did you look in there to make sure that it fully downloaded?
You can also search for it. Swipe down from the middle of the home screen to get to the search field at the top of the screen. Type in the name of the movie and see if it shows up. If it appears, you can tap on it and it will begin to play but that will also start the 24 or 48 hour timer that you get to watch a rental once you start it.
If you are not ready to watch the movie, don't tap on it. But if it shows up in the search, you know it's on the iPad so the next thing that I would do is reset the iPad and then look again in the videos app.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

What is available for iPad random video chatting?

Thank you for answering. I checked on Chatroulette and a couple of others, and they stated you needed Adobe Flash Player, which of course is not available with Apple products. Maybe someday they will get that worked out.
    Thanks again so much.

  • Reconnecting video in iMovie for iPad

I'm having trouble getting iMovie for iPad to reconnect video files.
Recently I edited a fairly large project in iMovie for iPad with video clips all taken from my iPhone 4. I synced the clips to the iPad by going through iTunes and transferring them as a photo Event. From there I was able to work with the media and finish the project, but somewhere along the line I re-synced the iPad with my MacBook, and the Event that contained the media I was working on was taken off the iPad. Obviously, when I re-opened iMovie I noticed this accident by all the little yellow triangles everywhere.
Since then I've tried everything I can think of to get iMovie to recognize the same clips I have since re-synced back into my photos library, but have been unsuccessful.
Any ideas what could be wrong? Or is it, once the media is disconnected the link is gone forever?
Here's the vague and relatively unhelpful quote from Apple's support page in dealing with this problem:
    "Resolution
    Missing Video clips
If your project contains a video clip that is stored in either of the following locations, moving the video clip from its location causes the yellow triangle to appear:
The Photos app. (A video clip would be stored here if it was synced to your iOS device from a computer).
The Camera Roll. (A video clip would be stored here if it was recorded using the Camera app, if it was imported via the Camera Connection Kit, or if it was moved to the Camera Roll from the iMovie Video Browser)."
You can see how if you move the clips from these locations, the media is disconnected... obviously. But there is apparently no way to reconnect that media, as you can do on the Mac version of iMovie. Actually, iMovie on the Mac will even locate missing media for you. Not the case here.

Yes the video I have imported appears in the photos app

  • Encoding movies for iPad

    Hi guys!
I'm currently upgrading a clients site for iPad support (video playback) and I'm have a VERY hard time producing videos that will actually play on iPad.
    I'm using the following specification:
"H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;"
The software I'm using is Adobe Media Encoder and my preset fullfills all the requirements above but it just won't do and I've spent a whole day trying to get it work. iPad seems EXTREMELY picky about its videos. Ditching Flash might be a good idea but this is just insane.

Any help will be extremely appreciated because I already lost a whole day due to this!

Try encoding a small source video directly in iTunes and then check the specifications afterwards in Quicktime (QT). Better still, open the video in QT directly and export it for iPad playback. Then follow the first step above.

  • How to use HTML Video for iPad in iWeb

I agree with all the advantages of HTML Video. How do you use html video on your iweb site?
I want my iWeb site video to be viewable on iPads.
I have learned the technique to use the HTML Snippet tool in iWeb to successfully post Flash video. I created all of my animations using Kenote's keyframe ability and have exported them to Quicktime and then have converted them into flash with Vertical Moon's Video to SWF. Then simply upload the SWF file to a folder on your idisk, then use the Flash Video insert HTML Snippet and insert the idisk url of the SWF file and you are done. What is the technique for HTML Video?
I have found some HTML video encoders, here are the links:
http://www.projekktor.com/ the technique is not clear to me and appears complicated.
http://www.brightcove.com/en/ this one is way too expensive at $99 a month.
http://jilion.com/sublime/video this one looks great but is not yet available and I am guessing it is a converter that will make your iMovie Quicktime into HTML Video.
I have all of the i-Apps and Final Cut Express (2 revs out of date). Can I get the proper HTML video file from these programs, unless I am missing something I don't think so.
Most people do not believe I made my site completely with Keynote and iWeb but here it is. http//www.falcon-pacific.com
Thank You Very Much for considering my question. I will put the results on my iWeb site and the exact procedure and acknowledge all the sources of the solution.

I want my iWeb site video to be viewable on iPads.
Your videos ARE viewable on a iPad. No need for explicit HTML video coding.
If you export your movies to iPhone that's all there is to do. You can do it in QT Pro/iMovie
And HTML Video is a HTML code, not the movie itself :
    <video width="480" height="270" src="movie.m4v" controls></video>
I use the iPad simulator in the SDK :

How can I troubleshoot video issues?
I setup the iPad device (G711) and then placed a call to a Jabber for Windows (G729) phone. Audio worked fine but no video. I changed the Jabber for Windows to G711 and video started working?
Is Jabber for iPad going to support G729 and if so when?

  • How can i use original audio track in video editing for iPad 2?

I am struggling to understand how the video editing apps work for iPad 2, and specifically, to understand why all the editing apps I have looked at explain how you can make these terrific video clips by ADDING audio tracks from iTunes, or. From the audio library. I just want to use the original audio on the tape?  Is that so strange? Today I took a video clip of my daughter singing with her guitar. I wanted to shorten the length a bit, so I downloaded a couple of Visio editing apps. When I pulled the clip out of my Camera Roll storage into the video editing screen, there was no sound at all, though there were ways to add other sounds ( for .99cents) most frustrating is that nowhere, does Apple explain this.  The tutorials just show someone editing a video of their friends ( with no sound) And adding text and music, as if it's normal not to include the actual sound that originally accompanied the video clip.  Seems like i wouldn't be the only customer who would prefer to hear my daughters own voice Ina video of her singing, and would like thisexplainedbefore I started downloading editing apps. If it can't be done, couldn't This be posted?

I am not understanding your question, or your complaint, if it is a complaint.
I movies takes a video clip, including its audio track.
You have the option of mutimg it, or of importing some other sound from your music library, or narrating.  What other option do you want?

  • I want to use a retro TV screen as a mask for an imported video. It works and previews correctly in iBooks Author but not when previewed on my iPad. Any workarounds or suggestions welcome.

    Hi there
I've been trying to give my imported videos a new spin by using the screen on a retro TV image to play the video on. I've masked the screen in Photoshop, saved it as a transparent .png and placed it onto the page. I then place the video, size it to fit the screen, send it to the back and, as if by magic, the video appears to play on the TV. However, as soon as I preview the book and go to view it on my ipad, the video is back in front of the TV and the illusion is lost.
Is there any way around this or am I going to have to make all my TV screens the same rectangular shape as the video? Also, is there any way I can stop the video being played full screen? Some of my videos are over 50 years old and the quality is pretty poor at full screen.
    Many thanks.

    Don't rely on 'Preview'.
Share/Export as .ibooks file and then drag that to iTunes and sync to your iPad.
Still no joy, find a pre-processing recipe ( that includes export for iPad) that doesn't spoil the quality in the process.
Just keep in mind that low quality in means low or lower quality out, in this example.
