Quicktime Coversion only Coverting 29 sec???

Everytime I try to export and convert my finished product in FCP to a WMV format (because YouTube turns all of my .MOV files to nothing but a black screen with audio) FCP only converts 29 sec of the sequence!
What is goin on here??

That's what I thought as well, yet every time I try to upload and h-264 movie (I mean a 2-2.5 min movie) the upload "times out". Or I have tried several times to publish to YouTube straight from FCP and that has yet to work!
I did find that if you export and "convert to a quicktime" this seems to work and takes about 1/4 of the time to upload...I know its a lesser quality than the h-264 but its all I can get to work!
Thanks for taking the time to reply. If you have any more ideas please help!

It is strange. I thought 10.x might be the more recent but it also locked up when I tried to the web export. I ran into the no autoplay issue with the webpage so I'll need to look elsewhere to replace a Flash gallery... oh well. Looks like there are probably JS option that might work.
    Thanks.

  • Quicktime movie only has the first song in the play list. after export

when I export an album to quicktime the quicktime movie only has the first song in the play list.  The slide show works in i photo with all songs in the playlist but the quicktime only takes the first song and repeats it over and over

I used the garage band method to string the songs together.   Then used the mega song to play with my album. and it even exported to the quicktime movie.  Thanks for the post.

  • Quicktime will only play my video once

When I download a video sent to me via my FTP server, quicktime will only play it once. If I try again it will post a message saying something along the lines of "Quicktime is unable to open this file" because it's not a format it recognized. The files were made on a Mac and were exported with quicktime pro as a "export for web" changing the file extension from .m4v to .mov. Also when I upload it to youtube, the audio does not get uploaded. Could it be that changing the file extension is creating all these problems? If so, how can I get around it? What setting could I use to export a small version of the quicktime as an .mov comparable to the web export?

Unfortunately this will not help you much, but I discovered this problem on my XP Media Center box AND my Vista laptop. It happened around the same time. All of a sudden, QT movies would only play once. I'd close the browser and it would work again, just once. I use Safari and Firefox as well...guess what, they both work fine. So there is a work around...don't use IE. I do get a QT plugin error though, it says the plugin did not initialize. Seeings that it used to work fine and stopped on both machines at the same time, I'm assuming it was some update, but using Safari or Firefox is quicker and easier than troubleshooting IE...

  • Quick time only plays 3 secs of my video

i downloaded a video and quickime only plays 3 sec of it

I too have video non-play problems ALL the time with video downloads. Sound is fine. The video starts and stops, but the sound continues on fine.
I'm wondering if it's a codec thing as I can download these non working .avi files to my Treo 650 palm phone and they play without problem.

  • Why did HandBrake only copy part of DVD? It shows chapter 1-17 but only got 17 sec. ?

It shows chapter 1-17 but only got 17 sec.? I downloaded newest versions of HandBrake and vlc 64 bit. I went through the copying process twice and when I opened the movie I  only got 17 sec and a still picture - different one each time. It took and hour or more to copy each time. What else can I do?

You have to select the chapter on the DVD which represents the entire video you want to encode.
If the video is made up of 17 seperate chapters, you have to select each chapter individually and add each one to the Queue. Once all 17 are in the queue, click start and the 17 chapters will be encoded into 17 seperate files.
What version of VLC player did you get? If it was version 2, you may need the additional vlc library. Just do a search and the result is readily available

  • Quicktime will only show 3-4 minutes of a 60 min avi file, why is that

quicktime will only show 3-4 minutes of a 60 min avi file, why is that

    Hello Chris,
when selecting DV format for your iMovie project, iMovie converts everything to that format - and DV video is 13 GB/hr.
..... because this makes me have to split up my entire project (about 8 of these videos) into 2 DVDs with a total run time of 15 minutes (!?!).
A DVD will hold up to 120 min of (compressed) MPEG-2 video, and iDVD will take care of the compression for you - in fact it is not concerned with the physical size of your movie, only with it's length.
    hope this helps

  • Why does Quicktime 7.1 Pro stop playing my .MID files after only 30-40 secs

My MIDI files have the sustain pedal permanently depressed, and after 30 - 40 seconds, Quicktime 7.1 Pro goes silent when replaying them. This does not happen on other computers such as Windows XP using a Soundblaster card. I assume that it is a fault with Quicktime. If I click on pause, then play, then playback resumes for a while and then cuts out again.

More details. Running on Windows, CPU usage climbs steadily to 100% then the music cuts out. CPU usage remains at 100%. Running on a MacBook, CPU usage climbs to 25%, then the music cuts out. CPU usage remains at 25% until the end of the MIDI playback. This problem applies to Quicktime for Macintosh and Quicktime for Windows.

  • Export in QuickTime with "Only Hyperlink"

Hallo! I've a problem! When export in QuickTime from KeyNote, setting "Only hyperlink", the keys with the
action back do not only work while next it works. This happens even if inserts the numeration of the page. Can you help me??!!! Thank you very much!

OK, I may have found the source of the problem: when i tried to play the movie file that I had inserted in Keynote on my PC, Quicktime asked for a codec. In Movie Inspector, I saw that the video was encoded in FLV1...
Any idea where I can get this codec for QT WIndows (I'm searching for it and haven't found it yet)

  • Opening bank data files in a PDF format not working, the file defaults to Quicktime and only displays one page.

Opening bank data files, while logged into the bank or brokerage sites, by clicking on the PDF or file name icon, is supposed to open in PDF format but instead opens only a single page in Quicktime. This also happened several years ago in Leopard and required the removal of Quicktimeplugin.plugin. I have tried doing that in Lion with no success. Any thoughts?

    Gerry Brown wrote:
"from that page" does not make sense.
The file exists in a folder on your machine, correct?
If not, you need to download the file from your bank. Or use "Save as" in the browser.
No the file is on the Webpage he is visiting.
@ OP Right click on it and select Save File As. then save it to your HDD. Then open it.

  • May (free) Quicktime 7 only be installed on more than 1 home computer?

My family has several home computers, and would like to:
Have (free) QuickTime 7 installed on more than one of those computers at a time.
(Potentially) use (free) Quicktime 7 on more than one of those computers at the same time.
However, the QuickTime 7 EULA (End User Licensing Agreement) clearly says:
    2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a
single computer at a time. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and
you may not make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time.
    Are the
"install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a single computer at a time"
    and
"may not make ... [allow it to] be used by multiple computers at the same time"
restrictions meant to apply to free software such as QuickTime 7?

In my opinion no, the quoted statements only refer to software purchases made independently by the end user such as a QT Pro license since by reductio ad absurdum one might conclude:
QT is a software download to be used as both a free multimedia player and a system "structure" which is required by other applicatiuons such as iTunes and QT "Pro," as well as, all current Mac operating systems along with Mac specific apps like iMovie or GarageBand. To apply the general EULA interpretation to all sytems and platforms would literally mean users can only have a single operating platform in any given household and also implies that Apple is breaking their own licensing agreement every time they sell more than one computer to a family since they would be including illegally installed softfare to an end user. (Brings up another interesting question: If operating multiple systems with iTunes illegally installed by Apple, does that make Apple guilty of illegally selling products through the iTunes, App, Book, and other stores accessed by iTunes?)
However, if you really want to carry this question on to a logiocal conclusion, then you can always apply for a QT developer or site license which will allow you to either distribute or install QT to/for others and, since the software is free, the cost of these licenses are also free.

  • Why is QuickTime export only using 2-4 cores?

I'm trancoding video in QuickTime Player 7 (to H.264 and AAC), NTSC dimensions and good quality. It's taking quite a while, but it should be going faster for what I have. I have an 8-core Mac Pro, but the export process only ever goes a little above 300% CPU usage, meaning that it's using 4 cores max. My CPU isn't maxed out by anything else, and I have 3GB of free RAM.
Transcoding video is supposed to be a totally parallel task, but it's not using all of my cores. Any explanation or fix for this?

Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder will take all the resources it needs to do it's work.  If it's not using all available resources, it's because it just doesn't need them.  One possible reason for this is you're using an effect that's just very slow.

  • Music store only plays 5 secs of a tune.

Anyone having a problem where the music store will only let you preview 5 seconds of the track????

    Matthew:
Try deleting your iTunes preference files (com.apple.itunesxxx.plist, in your user's Library -> Preference folder) and see if that helps.
Welcome to Apple, and come back if that doesn't help.
EDIT: Whoops - you are in the wrong forum. You need to repost in the iTunes for Windows discussion forum.

  • Embed Quicktime Locally-Only for Presentation

In the past I have successfully embedded Quicktimes on HTML pages (IE) for local-only/kiosk PC presentations using:
    <embed src="C:\kiosk\movie.mov">
However using the same string type for a MAC embed (Safari) isn't working, I get the Quicktime logo with a question mark through it
    <embed src="/Users/mymachine/Desktop/movie.mov">
    Any pointers in this arena?
    Thanks!

Just place the html and movie in the same directory (same folder).
    html+movie=<embed src="movie.mov">
Or you can put movie in fold with html outside of it.
