QuickTime de-install fails
Hi
next time iTunes tells me to upgrade I will check discussion groups first - the latest version seems to be still in beta. Well, here is my problem.
Tried to install 6.01. InstallShield started but never finished, so I had to kill the process. After several tries to re-install and de-install I decided to manually remove iTunes from the registry and use a registry cleaner to keep the registry consistent. I also removed all the ~ProgrammFiles\iTunes directory.
iTunes doesn't show up any more in the InstalledSoftware Dialogue.
Tried the same for QuickTime but I failed.
And now I cant deinstall QuickTime and the Software List shows it is still available.
How can I get rid of the inconsistent QuickTime installation.
My plan is to remove installations of iTunes and QuickTime and do a reinstall of version v5.x which worked fine for me for several months.
Help is pretty much appreciated

Hi,
OK, as discussed in MRBOOS's thread this is what I tried:
-windows installer cleanup utility
iTunes did not show up - good!
I removed QuickTime
-run standalone QuickTime install - in verbose mode
after a while the process hangs again.

QuickTime Install Failed Error Code -3 - At Wits End Ready to Return IPOD
I have been trying to install QuickTime with Windows XP for the past 8 hours. First, I receive the message Install Failed Error Code -3. Then I uninstall software and download and get Error 1722 and the Error 1603 Fatal Error. I'm in a vicious loop of installing/uninstalling. Called Apple technical support and they walked me through the same steps I've been going through all day and I still have the same results. I'm ready to return my daugheter's iPod. I have looked at all the technical help available and have completed every recommended solution with no success. What am I missing? Suicidal in Chocolatetown, USA.

QuickTime 7.1 Failed to install on Windows XP X64
Just tried to install the latest version of QuickTime on my system. The install failed on QuickTime, now it all screwed up and corrupted. Wondered if this was tested in Windows XP X64 systems? Any suggestions on getting this fix, it doesn't work at all. I tried to uninstall, but it no longer in the Add and remove list.

1. Click on Start Button
2. Select Settings --> Control Panel
3. Double Click Add Remove Programs.
4. Once open, it might not show the Patches, check the box that says "Show Updates". It just left of the "Sort By" Name, Date, etc.
5. Find Patch number KB908531 and uninstall it.
6. Run the 7.1 install again and see if that works.
7. Windows detected that that patch was missing and downloaded it again to be installed. For now I left the patch in the queue to install later.
I see some people are rolling back to an older version of Quicktime, until this issue is fixed. Getting the older version might be a pain.

Quicktime 7 gone from Utilities - Install fails
I used to have Quicktime 7 Pro installed in Utilities. Now it has disappeared.
I downloaded the Install program and it gets to the point of 'Select a Destination' and fails.
Message: "Quicktime can't be installed on this disk because Quicktime X is already present. Please use Software update to install the appropriate version of Quicktime for your Mac."
So - my question is - is Quicktime 7 Pro now dead - and should I go find a replacement?
Thanks. Thanks! That must be the answer.
Wow - Apple has really spoiled me - I'm so used to things working without any effort that I didn't even read the instructions on the download page.
Just for the record - a couple of things
1. Quicktime 7 Pro was installed and working sometime in the past - so the conclusion is that a Mac OSX upgrade removed it. In spite of the fact that the QT7 docs say that if a copy exists it will be maintained.
2. I downloaded Quicktime 7 on my OS X 10.6.4 system, from Apple - but no caveat there.
3. On attempting to load Quicktime 7 - it failed with an error message that was completely bogus. -
I'm trying to install itunes version 7. I keep getting this message.
error 1905.module c:\program\files\quicktime\QTOcontrol.dll failed to unregister HRESULT -2147220472. Contact your support personnel.
Anyone know how to fix this?I got this very same error - I clicked okay twice, which didn't do anything, and then the x button.
The program went on and ended up installing! It seems okay at this point.
Wierd huh? -

QT 7.4 install fails - You do not have the appropriate access privileges."
well.. first off.. hope this right forum. It's happening qith a Quicktime 7.4 install but its not Quicktime issue..
Got the 7.4 Software Update along with 2 others (iTunes was one). I'm on my Mac, logged in as the admin, only account on the machine.
The two other installs downloaded and installed fine. In the SAME INSTALL session the QT 7.4 reported "You do not have the appropriate access privileges."
I've ran permissions fix with Apple disk util and OnyX, no help, install fails and reports same.
Here's the Console:
1/26/08 6:26:23 PM Software Update[3382] arguments=(null)
Model Name: Power Mac G4
Model Identifier: PowerMac3,5
Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (2.1)
Processor Speed: 1 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 2
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 2 MB
Memory: 1.5 GBsorry for the sys confusion I simply forgot to set ox version on the reply. I'm installing from the Software Update on the Mac, so... software update is choosing what to install, not me.
I have fixed permissions using Apple Disk Util and Onyx. Several times, repeated, and from startup disk, backup system clone, and the install CD. All complete showing a few items as "file changed, did not fix."
I really don't care that much about getting the QT 7.4 update but it really bothers me that I'm having this problem. The problem concerns me more than not having the update. -
Premiere & Media Encoder show Quicktime presents but fail on encode
My Premiere & Media Encoder CS6 both show Quicktime presents but fail each time I try to encode directly to Quicktime with .mp4 codec.
Quicktime is installed on my machine, which runs Windows. I'm using Adobe Creative Cloud CS6.
Goal: to use the Quicktime format and sucessfully encode video sequences as .mp4 files at various settings.BUMP! To this thread as I am still having an issue encoding QuickTime files. Below is a quick recap with some new information.
All testing is done on a system running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 with Adobe Media Encoder CS6, CC, and CC 2014 (same results across all versions).
The failure occurs after a few seconds of attempted rendering, with only the following message from AME:
"Encoding Failed
Export Error
Error compiling movie. Unknown error."
Important note: This problem DOES NOT exist on a similar system running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1. So it would appear the problem may be OS specific to Windows 7 Professional (although there are a few forum threads with people experiencing the problem on Macs as well).
That said, here's what happens on the Win7 Pro system:
QuickTime movie encoding fails at 1920x1080 both from a dynamically linked Premiere timeline and from a rendered file.
TESTS:
1) H264 video with AAC audio FAILED
2) H264 video with uncompressed audio FAILED
3) Uncompressed video with AAC audio FAILED
4) Sorenson video with uncompressed audio FAILED
5) Uncompressed 10bit YUV .mov with uncompressed audio WORKED!!!!!
Of course, a :30 second television commercial rendered this way is near 5GB and is not the way most broadcast stations want a file delivered.
To sum up: all of the HD presets and custom settings for QuckTime with any sort of compression, fail to render on systems running Windows 7 Professional.
Here is a link to a similar issue, but the solution listed did not work in my case.
Quicktime encoding using x264 encoder failing in AME 6.0.2.81 and Mac OS 10.8.2

OS 10.10, MBP 2011 i7, latest updates. I ran the installer by opening up the app package and invoking the install via terminal. at the 75% mark ( download finishes ) the installer fails. in the terminal I got this maybe helpful error message. any idea on getting flash to install ? its worse because I've run the uninstaller so parts of various websites don't work now
Sok, its a permissions error because the installer isn't at the right run level, even asking for my admin password. if I do
sudo Install Adobe Flash Player.app
[enter password]
Installer now runs. it generates a bunch of error messages in the terminal

The installer certainly thinks that you still have a previous ConfigMgr client installed. Perhaps you haven't completely removed it. Use ccmclean.exe from the SMS 2003 tool kit.
If that fails, why not just rebuild the server - you've said that this is a fresh install. I don't like too much messing at the beginning. This can be difficult enough - you need to start with a clean installation of the product.

ProClarity 6.3 PAS install fails on Windows Server 2012
We are trying to install PAS 6.3 on Windows Server 2012 and the install fails with the following error
The following requirements are missing:
Windows Server 2003 SP1
We have successfully installed on Windows Server 2008 R2, so it really isn't a Windows Server 2003 SP1 issue.
Has anyone successfully installed on Windows Server 2012? Is there a way to force the installer not to check for the OS?
Thanks.
KevinI have a PAS server running in Windows 2012, by doing exactly the same pre-requisites that you do in Windows 2008 r2 (iis, Framework, SQL ADO 2005 / 2008). With the Windows Server 2003 SP1 message you can avoid it by doing a really simple thing that
is right click the setup file --> properties, and head to the "Compatibility Tab" and run it with compatibility mode Windows 7, also run it with Admin permissions. This let you pass by the message and let you install the product. Remember, after the
installation, you need to check all the IIS config, folder permissions, that you did in Windows 2008 x64 installation. Also, the App pool needs to work with .NET 2.0 not 4.0.
Good luck!

G5 10.5.8 Combo Update codec overrun - install fails
Hi,
I still have my first mac, a Power Mac G5, but it has been acting as a center speaker stand for some time now. A couple of years ago it started playing up, I spent hours and pounds trying to fix it, gave up and bought a shiny new iMac. So with the festive season upon us and orders to tidy up, I thought I'd have one last try at fixing it before turning it into a drinks cabinet.
As I recall, it all started to go wrong one day when I tried to download a large update to something. When I tried to install the update I got a Codec Overrun error and/or a Corrupt File message. As it stands today the machine is running a clean install of OSX 10.5.6 and I am failing to install the MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8.dmg upgrade. I currently have 2 copies of the update.
One copy on the desktop was downloaded directly from the Apple support site. The .dmg opens and verifies OK and I can launch the MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8.pkg. This runs through the installation sequence, past the password but finally comes up with an error message "Install Failed. The installer could not validate the contents of the 'MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8' package. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
Another copy in my downloads folder, put there by the Software Updater, doesn't get that far. It comes up with "Warning,The following disk image failed to mount. Image - MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8.dmg, Reason - codec overrun."
So far I have tried:-
Memory - run third party memory checker application (can't remember which one) and found no faults.Tried different set of memory cards
Hard disk - run all the disk check and repair utilities, re-formatted, repartitioned. Tried a different hard disk.
OSX 10.5.6 - reinstalled from original disks several times.
MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8 - downloaded via Software Updater process and direct from Apple Support website. Downloaded via wi-fi, ethernet, different Mac, different PC. Always get the exact same file size.
Resetting the PRAM etc
New standby battery
Installing in Safe Mode
Swearing.
None of this has worked. I get some different error messages but they are all variations of "codec overrun", "corrupt file" or "Install failure"
Anyone got any other ideas? Or should I just get on with the drinks cabinet conversion?
ThanksThat message isn't a space available message. If you bring up Disk Utility, how does it say the partition is formatted, ie, partition format, write status, and partition map scheme? Assume SMART status is verified, yes?

Family Pack Leopard install fails G4 Dual 1.2Ghz
All, I purchased the Leopard family pack and have successfully installed it on an Intel Macbook Pro and a G5 2.3Ghz DP machine - flawless, no problems during installation or after.
However, any attempt to install on a G4 Dual 1.2Ghz + 2Gb of RAM + just bought a Seagate 500Gb Barracuda internal drive (well within the designated technical requirements), I've tried the following.
1. Booting the G4 off the Leopard install DVD, I get the following error: Failed Install message = "The Installer could not validate the contents of the Essentials Package...".
I can never get beyond this point. After receiving this error, the internal disk isn't even recognized on the bus - I have to pull the disk out, put it in an external case to reformat it. I've even tried a low level format and also had Seagate replace the disk thinking it was defective.
2. I then thought it may be an issue with putting the Seagate disk in cable select mode versus master / slave configuration. The Seagate is the only hard drive in the machine. I have tried both cable select and master/slave configuration - both freeze after install, etc. without fail.
3. Tried installing Leopard on the G4 by connecting it to the G5 in target disk mode. It installed, but routinely just freezes (NEVER had this issue with Tiger on this machine).
I do see lots of people posting issues with the "The Installer could not validate the contents of the Essentials Package..." error.
For the record, after successful Leopard install using technique #1 and #3 - I am also unable to run the Migration assistant - it fails every time with a kernel panic. I'm not having any trouble with the Leopard install media on any of the other 2 machines, nor did I have issues running the migration assistant.
Any ideas are appreciated. thx, themdg - you said you put back your 2-512 original RAM cards and tried to install Leopard and the install failed. But my original, factory-installed RAM was third-party RAM which prevented me from installing Leopard, giving the “essentials” error. Only when I purchased RAM from Apple, and used only that RAM to install, could I get it to work correctly.
Check your original RAM. If it is not the Apple brand, it may not work because of that, even if it was the factory-installed RAM.
After I installed Leopard with only the Apple RAM, I added back the third-party RAM and I’ve been running Leopard flawlessly since.
It seems the installation software, which meticulously checks the installer disk for flaws, should also check the RAM to see if the installation will be successful (i.e., check to see if it is going to produce the “essentials” error) and also check to see if you have enough valid RAM to install, before it begins installation, and to let the user know there will be a problem unless the RAM is changed to valid cards.
I “assumed” I had enough valid RAM when I first tried to install Leopard because I had a G5, but it had only 256 MB of non-Apple brand RAM (minimum of 512 is required). A direct check of that by the installer and letting me know it was a problem would have saved me a lot of trouble checking lots of other potential problems, like a bad installer disk, a third-party drive, etc., before I figured out it was insufficient and incompatible RAM for the installation.
I read the minimal requirements for installation of Leopard and probably someone will say I should have checked all those before I tried the installation, but I didn’t, as I’m sure many others have not, because we “assume” Apple had tested it and would prevent us from making any mistake like this.
Previously Apple made their software and hardware to “just work” by providing error messages before we made an error and we have come to rely on that. But they overlooked this problem on this update. It’s the first time I’ve had a problem with an update from Apple.
I’m still a loyal Apple user, but I’ll check requirements a little closer with future updates. -
SCOM agent install fails Error 80070035 - the network path was not found
I have deployed SCOM 2012 agents to most servers (2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012R2) in our estate but some either fail to install or are not monitored. I assume the two problems are related, but for now I am concentrating on the servers that fail completely.
Installation is from the Discovery Wizard and I have about 20 servers that fail of various server versions.
So looking at one specific server that is failing to install the agent - a 2008 standard service pack 2
The firewall in on and file and printer sharing is enabled for domain, remote administration is enabled for domain
I added a specific rule to allow TCP 5723 and 5724
DCOM is enabled
I can Ping the target server from the SCOM server by both name and FQDN - both return the same IP and our DNS server has only one entry for this server
I can browse to the admin share \\server\C$ from the SCOM Server, using the same account that I specify for the agent install that is a domain admin with rights on this server (and on the other servers the agent
did install to) and the server has plenty of disk space available
I am not sure what else to look at so would welcome any ideas
ThanksHi Petro,
I have a Agent installation failure cheat sheet, For your error 80070035 it is said to perform a manual installation.
So i would like to understand which version of SCOM is this ? 2007 R2 or 2012 or 2012 r2 ?
Also check if your agents have the WMI service started and enabled ?
Also if yours is a SCOM 2007 R2 do you have a RMS & MS in your management group ? If yes then Pushing the agent installation from MS may cause such issue. So would suggest you push the installation from RMS.
Also check if your Network connectivity meets the minimum requirement as recommended by SCOM. Below is applicable for Both SCOM 2007 R2 & SCOM 2012 & 2012 R2.
Component A
Component B
Minimum Requirement
Root management server or management server
Agent
64 Kbps
Root management server or management server
Agentless
1024 Kbps
Root management server or management server
Database
256 Kbps
Also check if you have any Anti virus / Firewall which is blocking the install / communication. If yes disabe or add the "Monitoringhost.exe to the safe list or what your feature is.
Check if you have another IP assigned to the NIC card and remove it tempraurly andchecl.
Also post the event logs of the Agents which are in not monitored state for analysis.

This problem occurs if the LockFileTime.txt file is located in the following folder on the remote computer:
%windir%\422C3AB1-32E0-4411-BF66-A84FEEFCC8E2
When you install or remove a management agent, the Operations Manager 2007 management server copies temporary files to the remote computer. One
of these files is named LockFileTime.txt. This lock file is intended to prevent another management server from performing a management agent installation at the same time as the current installation. If the management agent installation is unsuccessful and
if the management server loses connectivity with the remote computer, the temporary files may not be removed. Therefore, the LockFileTime.txt may remain in the folder on the remote computer. When the management server next tries to perform an agent installation,
the management server detects the lock file. Therefore, the management agent installation is unsuccessful.
