Quicktime error # -2095..AHHHH

" Quicktime failed to initialise. Error # -2095. Please make sure Quicktime is properly installed on this computer"
Ever since i attempted to upgrade my itunes that keeps popping up. The upgrade went well, but when i tried to open itunes or even quicktime, it wouldnt open. I've uninstalled and reinstalled over and over. Tried to upgrade Windows xp and looked at my firewall settings. I have 400 songs on there ......how can i get this fixed????

hiya!
the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.0.4 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.0.4 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

Hey Jack- Where did you find QuicTime 7.7 for Windows download?  I can't find v7.7, all Apple website links lead me to QT 7.6.9 as I noted here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3239439?tstart=0

  • Help Please: Error 2095 when I try to run Quicktime

I'm running XP and am trying to install iTunes and Quicktime to get my son's iPod working.
I've looked at many of the threads here and have tried many of the solutions (and spent hours on the phone with Apple and Microsoft support), but no success. I've used Install Clean Up to get rid of first installations, deleted files from C:Program Files and System 32, deleted Quicktime from the registry, rebooted without background processes (including Norton), downloaded (again) the stand-alone version of Quicktime and intstalled, but still I get error 2095 - "Quicktime failed to initialize".
I've also noticed that when I try to remove a Quicktime installation with "Add/Remove Programs" I get the following error message: "Could not access HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\Quicktime\Registry Backup\Content Type". Thus, my earlier decision to delete Quicktime from the registry and re-install.
Anybody out there have any ideas? Thanks.

okay, let's try getting an install log for an itunes 7 install to the Apple Engineers for a look. (that may cast some light on what is going on with the QT part of the installation proceedings.)
    1. Open a commnd prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it to this email address Put the URL to this discussion thread into the email, so that the person who gets it has some context … in general, give as much info as you can.

  • Error# -2095

I need help, have upgraded to itunes 6, with quicktime 6.5
and now everytime I try to open either, i get an error message ERROR#-2095. I have tried to upgrade quicktime, but keep getting told that the old version cannot be removed and the upgrade just breaks down.
And why is it impossible to email apple for an answer.
    PLEASE HELP. NO MUSIC!!!!!!!

I think I have fixed my computer - I had the same problem with the eror 2095. The way it finally let me get back into my music was to hit the Quicktime subject, then FAQ's for windows on Quicktime - "how to uninstall Quicktime" link and then follow from that to the download of the new quicktime. Don't know why it was any different but this let me get straight back into everything and the only difference that I can see is that I now have a prominent quicklaunch icon. good luck

  • Errors 2095 and 63443

    Hello,
After upgrading Itunes, my internet has stopped working and Itunes and quicktime no longer work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times with no success. In mycomputer->Add/remove programs, it says that itunes is still on my computer even though all the files in its folder were deleted and it was uninstalled. When I click on quicktime, I get error # 63443 and Itunes gives me error #2095. Has anyone dealt with similar problems/ these errors before that could help me out? It's difficult to get by with only having the internet at work!

    hi daaaaave!
    Error Number: 0x80040707
    DLL function call crashed:QTInstallcode.quicktimepostinstallproc
okay, we'll work through the two most common causes of that beast in this post.
    (1) you can get the 0x80040707 if you try to uninstall QT from inside a different user account from the one that QT was originally installed in, or if you try to install a higher version of QT in a different user account from the account that it was originally installed in.
so if you've got multiple user accounts on that PC, see if you can uninstall your existing QTs from any of those accounts. then try the standalone QT 7.0.3 again.
... but if you can't uninstall from any user account on the PC (or doing so doesn't help) ...
    (2) the 0x80040707 may indicate a badly broken QT where the breakage involves the QT installation registry entries.
what usually works with those is downloading and installing the Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
... and then using the utility to remove your existing Quicktime installation registry entries.
after doing that, try the careful standalone QT 7.0.3 reinstall again. does it go through this time?
    keep us posted.

  • Quick time error #2095 - this will solve it

if you have had problems with opening itunes and have reinstalled again and again and you get the message error....2095. then there is a problem with quick time. and you may be like me and unable to uninstall quicktime for some reason or other.
just leave itunes properly installed and then go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
this lets you download quick without itunes and this should then solve the problem....hopefully

    Perfect! That explains everything.
An exception occured while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL"C:\WINDOWS\system32\Quicktime.c pl,QuickTime
Some program other than QuickTime has stashed old QuickTime componentry down in your \system32\ folder. (Codec packs, some freeware media players, and video/audio file converters are the usual culprits, although some games.) That's what is causing the QuickTime error messages.
Have you installed any codec packs or video conversion utilities or media players on the PC? If so, what's the name and the version number of the package?

  • Hi.  Ever since I downloaded the last itunes and quicktime update (a week or so ago), I can't access any video podcasts or movies I have stored in itunes.  iTunes keeps crashing and telling me I have a quicktime error.  Do I uninstall quicktime? or?

Hi .  Ever since I downloaded the last itunes and quicktime update ( a week or so ago), I can't access any movies or video podcasts i have store in itunes on my pc (vista).  iTunes crashes and my error reports tell me it is a quicktime error.  Do i uninstall and reinstall quicktime, or completely uninstall itunes and reinstall it -- if so, what will i lose?  Help, please!

  • Quicktime error -2048 when trying to play.mov files.

I have been frustrated this weekend trying to find a solution to a problem that has only recently occurred accessing some digitised VCR tapes that had been archived on an external HDD. These are files that played back fine on my Quicksilver after I had recorded them, but now give a "Movie Not Available" message in Quicktime. However when opened in VLC I get a debug message box with the following information posted below. Any clues as to what might be the problem?
I recorded the files from my VCR using an ADVC-100 DA converter over firewire into BTV Pro which created .mov files (DV-PAL). When I try to open the files in BTV Pro, I get a message box "There was an error opening the movie. No Movie found. Error code 20,-2048" Did a search for this error and -2048 appears to be a Quicktime error, so am wondering if there is a problem with my installation of Quicktime. I have got all the usual suspects in stalled, Flip4Mac, Perian, VLC. Mpeg Streamclip but can't get the file to open. The external HDD is Mac formatted but I found some info about problems with missing resource forks in older .mov files causing problems if copied to NTFS HDD's.
Any ideas as to where to look next will be appreciated.

Well it used to work fine so I think so. When I try and run the installer you linked to I get a message saying that a later version is already installed- isn't it built into the latest QT releases? One thing I thought of- the original files I think were made on a mac so there were some resource fork files of 4K size. I deleted these as I kept trying to open them by mistake, but then after this trouble I dragged them back out the trash to the original location but it didn't fix the problem- could that have caused some sort of association problem?

  • In attempt to burn blu-ray, I get QuickTime error 0.  Takes hours to export a 7 minute movie from timeline, then get notice it fails.  What's going on here?

New problem just started 24 hours ago.  When I try to export from the time line to create a QuickTime file, a 7 minute movie on time line takes 3 hours to export and then the export fails, where as a few days ago, that export would take about 10 minutes at most.  I get the same failure notice when I try to share to blu-ray, DVD, or Vimeo.  Tried to use compressor, no such luck as compressor failed to make a .mov file.  I get QuickTime error 0 message about 5 minutes into trying to share to Blu-Ray now.   Does anyone know what is going on here?  I'm running latest update of Snow Leopard on an intel Mac Pro and the latest update to Final Cut Pro X.  I've also installed QT 7.6.6 to use in creating time lapse movie files.

Same problem here, too. Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 on OS 10.6.8. However, it is only doing it on ONE of my projects. A 4-second test project burned successfully.
I'm  actually going to use iDVD to burn copies for a few people, so I only need the movie file from FCPX.
Would someone please post best export settings for use on a DVD? In FCPX, the project is  in HD (1080p) with all media optimized to ProRes 442. I know it will have to be down-sampled to DVD resolution, but I've always been curious to know what settings will result produce the best possible quality in DVD resolution.
    Thank you!
    Bart

  • Quicktime error code : -3

My Toshiba Tecra S2 laptop running XP Pro SP2 went in to standby and froze there (common problem). Upon rebooting iTunes "has encountered an error and needs to close" every time I try to run it.
I have uninstalled, re-downloaded and upon attempting re-install I get "Quicktime error code : -3" and the install fails.
This is driving me crazy. Any ideas

I deleted the iTunes folder in MyDocuments/MyMusic (renaming iTunes.old instead of deleting will preserve files)and re-installed and everything appears to work.

  • Quicktime errors during install, uninstall, or run

Quicktime errors during install, uninstall, or run. No error code. It just says it encountered an error and must exit.

I located a previous response that satisfied my issue. Below is the process that allowed me to use quicktime.
The "fatal error" in this context has (recently) been indicating trouble with old, misplaced QuickTime componentry lurking about in your system.
(Whether or not the message is a symptom of that problem seems to depend on what version of old misplaced stuff is lurking and what version of QuickTime proper we're trying to install or uninstall ... but in recent times, there's been an uptick in fatal errors being caused by that.)
So let's try investigating that possibility first.
First we'll adjust some view settings on the PC.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in "My Computer" open Local Disk C: (or whichever drive your operating system is installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "System32" folder.
What files or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file or folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • Compressor 2 - Quicktime error 0 revealed

After upgrading to the latest version of QT, FCP5, DVDSP4, and Compressor 2 with all the latest fixes I could not compress a 1 hr 46 min video on my quad G5 without getting the dreaded quicktime 0 error message. I spent days trying to get around this and finally settled on getting the job done through DVDSP, (see my post "compressor 2 what works for me").
I finally decided to track down the problem by spliting my project in half to see which half was failing. Then I spilt that half in two and so on for hours until I found the problem video. Turns out I had a "spin 3D" transition between a slow motion clip at 50% and a clip at regular speed. I added 1 sec of regular speed to the slo mo clip so the transition would fall between to clips at regular speed and the problem was solved. My 1hr 46 min video compressed in 3hrs 30 min. (still not as quick as the 1 hr 10 min from DVDSP4 but thats another story).
Conclusion - "Quicktime error 0" seems to be Compressors way of saying "sorry this is too complex for me." I am sure there are other combinations of transitions, filters, etc. that will cause this problem as well so APPLE, IF YOU ARE READING THIS we need a fix.
I will try more expirements but complexity in the time line seems to be the cause of compressors failure due to quicktime error 0.

I am having the same issue. I have recently purchased quicktime pro and updated to lion, I dont know if that is that causes the failure but this *****! it's the 4rth time i try to compress a 15 minute file, it takes about 3 hours and when there is 10 minutes to go.... pooooof!!! game over!
