Quicktime error -37 when importing video files

Anyone know how I can import my videos successfully? Whenever I try to do it now, they don't show up and i get the error message.

Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. If this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Otherwise, please provide additional details...for example:
What, exactly is the true file format? Not simply the file extension, but the true format?
Does the file extension match the true file format?
Where was the file created?
Does the file work on other devices?
Do other format video files work OK on your device?
What is your exact OS level, and what exact app are you using to try and play the file?

"Red Error" when importing video files

Hello, I tried importing video files (.MOV) into Final Cut Pro X but this "red file error" just comes out and I don't know what to do. I even tried importing my video clip from my iSight camera but it just shows that red error. I feel like every video file imported gets "redded". I don't know how to solve this problem. You have "Proxy media" selected under Preferences->Playback, but you are not creating proxy media for your clips on import. That's why you get the red clips.
This is easy to solve. Either:
1) Create the proxy media for your clips, by control-clicking, and choosing "Transcode Media..." and checking the box for proxy media;
or
2) Choose "Original/Optimized media" in Preferences->Playback.
Proxy media uses less disk space and is easier to handle than either the original or optimized media, but is of lower quality; but you can do all the editing in proxy, and then just before you are done, switch again to original/optimized. This way you get lower overhead when editing, and still get the better quality result.
This may be even more relevant for older, less powerful macs, or when you need to use an internal drive, or a slow usb drive with FCP X. If you have a fast mac and a fast drive, you can work away without transcoding, for the most part (multicam clips and other heavier edits may still warrant a transcode).

Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 constantly crashes when importing video files

I have not used Premiere Pro in a while, but recently when I tried to import video files (from .m4v, .mp4 and .mov) the program stops working, the "importing" window doesn't progress and I get the rainbow wheel of "death".
I read some other posts where some are having similar situations and some users suggested moving the file from an external hard-drive to an internal one (I have a 1TB external hard-drive) but that didn't do squat either.
Once the program is frozen I'm forced to "force quit" the program.
Does anyone know what I can do?

I am having the same problems, but my program locks up when trying to playback .MTS files that are shot natively on my GH2. It will not render or export anything & when you try and scrub or playback footage it gets the spinning wheel of death. To finish my last project, I had to transcode all the .MTS files to .MP4 files and it worked fine. Also, anytime I shut down PP, I have to force quit the program for it to shut down. No external devices, except a external hard drive. I changed from a Thunderbolt Seagate 1TB (single 7200 RPM) to a Drobo Mini 2 TB RAID 5 in the MIDDLE of this problem, thinking the issue was the drive was to slow to keep up - NOT the case… it still happens with the new drive.
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?I am not completely sure to be honest - I believe it is the factory settings.
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?both!

Audio problem when importing video files.

Hello everyone,
I just started using FCP X a few days ago for a university project and I seem to encounter an audio problem when importing videos in .mp4, .mov format or via the import from camera option.
Indeed I need to import videos in .mp4 and .mov format into FCP X. The import in itself is normal I can see my videos into the events/clips library and if I play them from the library I can hear the sound quite perfectly.
However, when I want to edit my videos and put it in the timeline, there is no audio. As a result I started to think that my videos could be the problem so I tried the option "import from camera" option using the Isight camera of my macbook pro but the same things happened. I could hear the sound from the events/clips library but not from the timeline (I can't see any audiowaves in the timeline).
I found a solution using quicktime and extracting the audio of the video in .m4a then importing the videos files and the audi files corresponding but it's a long process and a waste of time as FCP X should be able to import the audio of my video into the timeline directly. Especially if it can read it from events/clips library.
I hope I explained myself clearly and you could help me resolve my problem.

You have an incorrect setting when you edit. Try trashing your preferences. Post screen shots of your timeline and toolbar.

Error 3307 when importing build file in Essbase

We have a level-based dimension build file, which is a CSV file with 5 fields and some 13,000+ rows. We are getting 75 errors in the .err file when importing the file using a load rule. An extract of the .err file is as follows:

I have double checked the existing members and there are no duplicate member names / conflicts here. Can anyone please suggest what the issue might be? I found a similar post at the below but this was not fruitful:

This typically means the member was added to the outline already to another parent either prior to the dimension build or within the dimension build and in your dimension build settings you do not allow moves of members.
For example your member G4S If you look in your outline, I'll bet you find it (either as a member name or alias) and its parent is not "G"

Error message when importing video

Hi,
I receive the following error message when trying to import .flv file in Captivate 6:
I tried restarting the project several times, as well as creating new flash file, with no luck. This is only a 3-slide project with the video embedded on a slide, and will publish as SCORM.

Hi all Thanks for the rapid response. However I have sort of found the problem but not the solution. I tried loading direct from the card but that failed in the same way. So I had a think what had changed and it was only one thing. It has always worked before because I was using my XP desktop machine. I am now using a W7 laptop. So I went back to XP and hey presto, it worked. SO what does that mean? Any ideas?? Only obvious difference is the OS. In answer to why I am loading from Photoshop. I have loaded 150 video clips from the card from a compact camera.( Been on safari!) I am using PS to sort and tag for various things, then send one group to PE . I ended up that route because they loaded into PS and not PE. So in summary:- I cannot load either directly from card or via PS, video clips into PE on W7, but I can on XP. I can load same into PS and view OK in PS on W7. In case you need further info, but I suspect its a windows issue? OS=W7, PE V7, PSV7, On the W7 PC it says... BIT rate=705kps!,Sample Rate=44khz,Channel count =1 Says image is avi but I thought it was mpeg Nothing else running Its a big fast empty machine, you could have the numbers if you really want but I don't think its relevant Sorry its abit long . Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer Crashes when Importing Video Files

I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 10 to 12. Now if I import any of my videos, they import onto the hard drive but as soon as Elements tries to bring them into the catalog, Photoshop Crashes. When I re-open the Organizer, it crashes as soon as it processes my files. If I delete the video file from my hard drive, then it doesn't crash. I have lots of videos that were imported under Photoshop Elements 10 and they don't cause any problems.
I uninstalled Elements and re-installed but that didn't help.
I deleted my preferences but that didn't help.
I updated to 12.1 but that didn't help.

I have checked on another Windows 8.1 computer and it doesn't have problems so it isn't a general problem with Windows 8.1.
Also, it isn't a problem with that particular catalog (That catalog worked on my other computer and I get the error with a new catalog)
I re-downloaded Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package and updated it since that seems to be what MSVCR100.dll is used for but that didn't help.
I get the problem with .MTS and .MT2S (AVCHD) video files but don't have the problem with .MP4 files.
I tried with a Safe Boot but I still have the problem.
I did a file cleanup using CCleaner but that didn't help either.
I ran System Mechanic to fix registry problems but that didn't help either.
I tried disabling my Norton Antivirus and Firewall but that didn't help.

I do not have any version of Premiere Elements installed.
I never removed any files. This is a clean installation from a couple months ago when I got my new hard drive.

Error message when importing motion files into FCP

In FCP.
I choose a clip/clips in my sequence. Then choose send to motion project and follow the directions from the training dvd.
By unchecking (embed "motion" content) then save the file with a different name. Then continue with making my graphics over the video clip/clips.
When I am done I then shut off the video layer of the clip in the motion timeline. Then I save the project. Then close Motion and try to import the motion project in FCP.
When I try to import, I get an error message stating "File Error: 1 files(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown."
I go back to the training file to try the same procedure and it works fine.
Go back to my own project and it doesn't work.
Any ideas? Anyone?

Don't know what the deal is. But I made a new sequence in my project and copied my other sequence with in the new one and then tried to do the whole clip step for step process of send to motion and importing back in and it worked!!!!
I check all the listed settings of my sequence in my browser window and both the old sequence and new sequence are the same.
I am happy that I can move on with my work, yet I am frustrated with the fact that I am not sure exactly what the problem is.

.THM Sidecar Files Not Included When Importing Video Directly From Camera (Canon 7d)

Lightroom (3.4) has always copied the .THM sidecard files when I have imported video files from my Canon 7d using a card reader. However I am on a trip and have forgotten my card reader so I have been copying directly from the camera and for some reason Lightroom is not copying the .THM sidecar files and thus I am missing all my valuable metadata such as camera, exposure, focal length, ISO, etc. associated with the video files. Very frustrating!
Any ideas?

Also because I do not have a card reader I cannot grab the .thm files myself. Mac OS X (and I think Windows) just see the camera as a "device" and offer to import but do not give me direct access to the files. Maybe if there is an app that will allow me to do that when the camera is connected I can work around this for now.

Even when I select a specific media type (or multiple media types) for ingest, Prelude imports .JPG etc. I want to only import video files.

Prelude will ingest only the files that you have selected (checked the box next to) in the Ingest Dialog. Can you provide more information or screen shots of what you Ingest Dialog looks like BEFORE you ingest and what your Project Panel looks like AFTER you ingest?

When I import video files, iphoto empties itself...

After a lot of recent iphoto problems (every time I imported photos, iphoto emptied itself...), a lot of iphoto library management, new libraries, etc, I also bought a new card for my camera just in case it was a source of corrupted files...
Anyway. Since I've started out with yet another new iphoto library (and all previous photos & libraries erased from the computer) and a new card in the camera, I've had no new "disappearance acts"... that it until today :
I imported photos from another camera than mine (photos that had previously been imported without any problems to iphoto 09 and also to iphoto 6 on two others Macs). An all to known message came up saying it couldn't import one file, an avi video.
I said OK... Closed iphoto and re-opened it. It told me I had to "update my thumbnails" and then iphoto showed up... empty. (Every time I get that message that's what happens - no matter if I say OK to updating the thumbnails or not).
All the missing photos can still be found in the library (via "Package Contents"). But before I start reconstructing, reimporting or making a new library, I'd like to know why my iphoto won't import video files at all anymore (it never had any problems with that before), no matter what format, why it leads to iphoto emptying itself and what could be the source of the problem??? (other than the usual "damaged datafile"... ;-)).
Also - because I'm getting really tired of all these iphoto problems - what's the best alternative photo application for Mac?

Forget that last remark I made. I'm totally losing it. Of course the first will show the date of when the last photo imported was taken and the library6 will show when it was imported.
I do however have another question: is it possible that iphoto can corrupt photos?
This is why I'm thinking this might be the case:
Just so you know, I still haven't trashed my last iphoto library (meaning I can see my "lost" photos in "show package contents" - but when I open iphoto it shows up empty).
I have a photo on my desktop.
It was one of those I imported into my last iphoto.
I dragged it from my desktop to iphoto - and it imported without any problem.
I then dragged the same photo - but this time from the originals folder in "show package contents" - to iphoto and was told that the file could not be read or imported.
I've tried with two other photos and got the same answer : the photos can be imported from the desktop to iphoto but not from the originals folder to iphoto.
Is this normal?? (maybe because I'm importing a photo to a place where it already is???)
Just for "the fun of it" I also tried importing a video I made (which can be viewed of different players on my computer) and was told it couldn't be imported or read...

Error when importing EPS files in Publisher 2010

Whenever I attempt to insert an EPS file (possibly other image types as well) into a Publisher document I get a prompt asking for what type of file the source is and then this error:
"An
error occurred while importing this file."
This is running as a Citrix Published Application running on Server 2008 R2 and I've found that this does not happen outside of Citrix. If i login directly to the server via RDP or right from the console I do not get this issue. I've posted in
the Citrix Forums and it looks like this is something to do with MS Publisher and not being able to use the Explorer shell.

There was another article but I cannot find it for the life of me at this time but it suggested that you uninstall and reinstall Office or repair Office.
I did both with no luck.
I am able to get Citrix to open up publisher with the shell by initiating this command:
explorer.exe /root,D:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\MSPUB.exe
With this command firing up Publisher I'm able to import EPS files with no problem. However I cannot pass an argument to this command so double clicking documents in our Citrix portal do not open up the document but rather just opens up a blank Publisher
file. So this isn't a good "solution."
I should not have to make this command to just be able to import images as a workaround. Anyone run into this in their Citrix environments? Microsoft, do you have anything that can be tweaked with Publisher to allow this to work as normal in
a Citrix environment?

I was able to get a workaround for this. I made a .cmd and put this into it:
if [%1]==[] explorer2.exe /root,D:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\MSPUB.exe %1
if [%1] NEQ [] "D:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\MSPUB.exe" %1
You will need to change your paths to your MSPub.exe and if you are using explorer.exe change that as well. We use explorer2.exe since we've found issues with using the original explorer.exe.
Once you have that CMD file made. Save it to your Xenapp boxes in the same location and then point your published app to that file to launch Publisher.
This worked for us but I'm not sure if it will work for anyone else but give it a go and let me know.

I'm not sure if the culprit is today's update, but I am having problems importing video files in Kdenlive and OpenShot. When I try to import .MTS / .MKV / .MP4 video files, both programs immediately cease to work.
