Quicktime error -50 (as many people)

Since yesterday I can't use Compressor anymore from FCP X: I have an error -50. I already watch previous threads, I did many things (like putting QMaster to the trash). I know I can do export the media from FCPX and then go to Compressor but you're not supposed to do it when you bought expensive softwares. I want it to work like two days ago.
The videos are from a canon 7D, I already export through Compressor many videos the past few months and yesterday I did export once a 1-minute video, then with the same video it stopped working. Now it doesn't work with any video.
If anyone knew why it just stopped working it would be great to know. I am prearing a few big projects and I need Compressor to work correctly.

This is not an incitentical problem, I beleive it's structural. I have the same problems and it's since a couple of months. At this moment, I only can solve the problem by export the sequence to to Proress 422 (HQ) and then use the compressor. However, it's an extra step at my creation workflow.

Quicktime Update Seems to Have Killed iChat for Many People

I keep seeing the same problem from so many people after the latest Quicktime update...
Everyone tries the 443 port setting, the Quicktime/Streaming speed setting, Internet sharing setting, etc. but something is definitely wrong, because I suddenly have two friends who now can't video when it was working fine before the update. And neither is using a router, so it removes all the potential router setting issues.
There seems to be many people on this board with the same issue.
BTW, the Apple "genius" actually suggested it was probably the camera that was broken, after they walked my friend through all the standard settings (the camera works fine). But I'm not going to bring that up because I'm reading A New Earth and that's just my own ego talking.
ANYWAY -- Ralph Johns? You've been dealing with this a lot - doesn't it seem like more than a coincidence that all these iChat issues keep recurring? Or am I insane?

It is more likely the Time Machine and Airport update than Quicktime.
This update changes the OS level although it still calls itself 10.5.2 it can not be "repaired" by installing the Combo version over the top. (you get and error message that the Installer and OS don't suit each other)

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components; this won't affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Office 2013, click icon nothing happens, no errors, no eventlog, MANY clients with this issue

We're an IT solutions provider for companies of all sizes as well, as residential users, and we've been plagued by a new Microsoft-caused issue that's seriously affecting our client's perception of us since it seems like 'you didn't fix it the first
time' or 'you sold us the computer', so it's our responsibility to fix for free.
We've experienced this with 17 people so far, ranging from residential clients with systems that have come from big box stores and from systems we've sold with Microsoft Office 2013 and basically the entire suite stops working.
If you click an icon, you may see an hour glass for a few seconds and nothing happens (but usually nothing happens at all, as though you didn't click it).
Diagnostic steps:
No errors in eventlog, neither under system or application.
No third party add-ins, sometimes it's a stock install on a new / fresh system.
Starting Microsoft Office applications in safe mode, like winword /safe, has no effect.
A quick repair or an online repair will not resolve the issue, it will say it's done but issue still exists.
Microsoft Office 2013 cannot be uninstalled, we always receive the same error code: 0-4
Some systems do not have third party antivirus, some are simply using Microsoft Security Essentials.
This affects all Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook.
Makes no difference if you use another user account or run-as admin.
All Microsoft Office 2013 updates have been installed.
The installation source is undetermined but recent issues stemmed from a physical media (.ISO) install from Microsoft's latest source.
You cannot start the software by clicking on documents created with Office applications.
The only way to remove Microsoft Office 2013 is with the removal tool "O15CTRRemove.diagcab".
The problem returns after a random period of days and no client can relay the actual cause of the issue, it seems random in nature. After the issue is experienced, we go through the same steps including the necessity to utilize the removal tool.
This seems to be a new issue that's come out of the blue within the past few weeks, at least on our end. When 17 random people call out of the blue with the same problem, it suggests it's Windows Update related.
I'm really hoping someone has some insight into this Microsoft glitch and knows of a secret hotfix or special trick to prevent it. I attempted to call Microsoft and it would be more enjoyable to punch a concrete wall since you're dealing with useless people
in a foreign country who can't really comprehend the seriousness or technicality of the issue, and don't really care, and aren't skilled enough to provide
insight.

I understand the flash you are receiving while launching Excel or Word is very fast. However just wanted to check if it is possible to get a screenshot of it.
Also, are you able to work fine on Excel or Word even after receiving the flash.
It seems the Office installation might have not been done properly.
There is a possibility, everytime you Uninstall any application, there are still some patches left behind which could cause an issue while Installing the same application again or even after Installation is successful, it sometimes gives
issue while launching the application.
If you want to give a try, you may try to Uninstall the product using Offscrub by clicking on the below link & then can have a fresh installation again.

Abhijeet, the box flash happens too fast for me to capture a screenshot of it but I believe it's similar to the smaller box activation process (enter your email).
Word and Excel work fine whenever this is observed.
I'm skeptical that this is a "not done properly" kind of scenario, especially when it applies to so many people and many have brand new computers. How can you take a Microsoft Office disc and install it improperly on a new PC? Or how can a person
go through Microsoft's https://officesetup.getmicrosoftkey.com/ setup, use the software for months and suddenly it stops working? If this is a 'not done properly' scenario, then this is a failing of Microsoft's
installation source. I can't reiterate this enough, the software works fine for people since installation date and then randomly stops working at a much later date (but many of them failed last month and this is a newer issue).
I'm starting to get frustrated again as I'd already stated we've used your linked removal tool in my first post and the problem has returned for another user by which I'd used it and reinstalled the product. The client who's PC we have now, one we'd sold
them, needs to be returned to them and while Microsoft Office is currently working, I was told that if this happens again, they're "going to throw the f#(*@ computer in the river". No joke.
If we're at the point where we've moved past evaluating logs, registry keys, or file versions or anything along the lines of a developer determining how this Microsoft bug occurs, then I'll return the system back to the client and hope for the best.
Three strikes and I'm out with this one but perhaps the delayed startup is the final solution... I just wish I knew for sure as we've had a bad year taking a beating for Microsoft's products and their support is the worst in the industry.
It's further frustrating that since I'd touched base with Microsoft via phone calls, the only person who's been able to provide any insight into the issue is me.

I have had numerous issues. Originally, I couldn't get video to work at all in Leopard (worked fine in Tiger). I just recently did all of the following things:
Set QT STreaming to 1.5
Set bandwidth (in iChat) to 500kbps (Comcast)
Deleted iChat prefs and ichatagent prefs
Set parallels network to "host only" (was on shared)
Reset PRAM
Reset security port to 443 (in iChat prefs, server settings)
Restart iChat (obviously)
Right now, all of my buddies are currently offline, but I did test with apple's auto-bots and interestingly, I'm getting video to work with appleu3test01 and appleu3test03, but I get the same connection problem as before with appleu3test02 ("There was a communication error during your chat"). I'm curious what's different about this bot's settings. I'll report more when I get to test with a real person.

In attempt to burn blu-ray, I get QuickTime error 0. Takes hours to export a 7 minute movie from timeline, then get notice it fails. What's going on here?

New problem just started 24 hours ago. When I try to export from the time line to create a QuickTime file, a 7 minute movie on time line takes 3 hours to export and then the export fails, where as a few days ago, that export would take about 10 minutes at most. I get the same failure notice when I try to share to blu-ray, DVD, or Vimeo. Tried to use compressor, no such luck as compressor failed to make a .mov file. I get QuickTime error 0 message about 5 minutes into trying to share to Blu-Ray now. Does anyone know what is going on here? I'm running latest update of Snow Leopard on an intel Mac Pro and the latest update to Final Cut Pro X. I've also installed QT 7.6.6 to use in creating time lapse movie files.

Same problem here, too. Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 on OS 10.6.8. However, it is only doing it on ONE of my projects. A 4-second test project burned successfully.
I'm actually going to use iDVD to burn copies for a few people, so I only need the movie file from FCPX.
Would someone please post best export settings for use on a DVD? In FCPX, the project is in HD (1080p) with all media optimized to ProRes 442. I know it will have to be down-sampled to DVD resolution, but I've always been curious to know what settings will result produce the best possible quality in DVD resolution.

Sorry no one has been able to help you guys directly. I found this completely useless (and hopelessly out of date) discussion but it points directly to everything that is wrong with the MacOS these days, real people cannot use vital functions. If you can figure out what this means or how to gain access to the "macerrors.h" file, please post back and help the rest of us.

QuickTime Error 46

The infamous QuickTime Error 46, been around since.... well a long time!! I'm running Windows 7. I downloaded the QuickTime Player and installed it with no problem but when I try to run it I get an error box that says "Error 46: Could not load or find the QuickTime ActiveX control." I get the feeling surfing the web that this would help a lot of people. The closest answers I can find go back several years and pertain to Windows Vista. Can someone please help me figure this out?

Export To YouTube - Quicktime Error -50

While I have exported this project for YouTube via Share, I had to make some additional edits = Re-shooting two smalls pieces of footage. Now when I try to export via the Share option in FCP-7, somewhere in the conversion, the exporting stops and I get the following Quicktime Error:
Share Failure
Quicktime Error -50
The YouTube conversion stops at that point. I did upgrade to 10.6.8. I have never come across this error before. Anyone have an idea what is going on??

Thanks!! As it turns out, after reading many comments on the Creative Cow, I tried a couple things first before trying your suggestion (which was also recommended on the Creative Cow site). Since I had just updated to 10.6.8 I repaired permissions. I also checked all the clips in the sequence since I did a lot of coping and pasting. Turns out the two new clips I added i accidently pasted some filters two or three times. After deleting the duplicate filers, the was able to export just fine. I suspect the added filters caused the issue with Quicktime.

Quicktime Error -50 when doing mp4--ever resolved?

I'm having a problem with Compressor that was perfectly described in this thread from last year. In fact, I'm just going to quote what that poster said because it applies exactly to me:
I was trying to compress this 3 minute long clip using "MPEG-4 Improved NTSC Small Progressive" setting but it always failed, and in the log/history i always find the following status:
Failed: QuickTime Error: -50
I have tried another MPEG4 configuration, and some seems to work (NTSC for CD) and some don't (NTSC for fast cable streaming, NTSC Large Progressive). Has anyone experienced this before? Any help or advice?
This question seems to come up every once in a while but nobody ever seems to answer it. Has anybody figured out how to deal with this?
(I've tried deleting the plists for both Compressor and Batch Processor, and I've updated all my software. I've found that if I export a reference movie, and then import that into Compressor, I am a little less likely to get the "Failed: Quicktime Error -50 message... but I still get it much of the time. )

unfortunately Jacob, no one answers it because we dont know. let me rephrase that: i dont answer it because i dont know. shoot, try calling apple support, THEY DONT KNOW! and good luck trying to get one of the software guys on the horn or reply to an email!
there are many errors in QT that are "meaningless" (as in we dont know what they mean since there is NO documentation).
what seems to solve a lot of issues for many users, whether it be QT, compressor, FCS, or even DVDSP related is to do a fresh reinstall of your whole computer. this is NOT a very popular answer however and i can understand why.
many times however, i hate to say this, it is user error, or the user just installs or updates without optimizing the computer or OS first. they just feel they can install a software, and POOF< it works, and why not, since thats the way its SUPPOSED to work, but many things in life are not that simple!
there are just sooo many variables that go into a VERY complicated computer, and it seems when even a fraction of those variables are NOT happy, and it can be anything from an undeleted file to a bad or corrupted library, that the end user has problems with another application that has NOTHING to do with the corrupt file.
i would recommend, a fresh install of the app. although it seems it might not work, or you have already done it, since you did actually search before just posting. then i would recommend a fresh install of the OS, and then one by one your apps. if that is NOT an option, then i cannot help you and i would recommend calling apple's support
i wish i would be able to read the QT errors to be able to help you, but i cant!

Batch monitor Quicktime error -50

Can anyone shed any light on what QuickTime error -50 means?
I'm encoding iPod and RTSP streaming files, (with closed captioning SCC files referenced in the additional content area of compressors inspector window.
When the files are encoding in the batch monitor window, many will give the quicktime error -50, if I run them again, most will encode fine but a few may still give the -50 error. Running those that error again a third time will encode fine.
It's very frustrating that this error keeps popping up.
I have completely wiped my boot drive and installed the FCP suit and Mac OS, twice, (formating the hard drive each time) so as to make sure that I had a clean install of everything. I reset all of my minimal settings by hand for the encode templates in compressor and I still get this -50 error only on my Mac Pro.
I also have a G5/quad that uses the exact same settings and version of FCP suite, and it never errors. I have the exact same setup on both machines, same number of internal hard drives, using the same drive name designations in both machines, (identical in every way, that I can make them) as far as using the FCP suite, (compressor especially) and I am still getting this very annoying QuickTime error -50 in the batch monitor.
All software on both machines are current with the latest releases of the Leopard OS, QuickTime 7.6, and FCP suite.
Any I idea of what QuickTime error -50 means would greatly be appreciated. I'd like to stop having to re-run these files multiple times to get them done.

HELP - batch fails - quicktime error 0

Hi, I sent a qt file from final cut to compressor and tried to used the dvd - mpeg2 best quality 90mins setting.I have tried 3 times and every time, about halfway through, it stops and says "failed: Quicktime error 0. I'm trying to make a file for dvdsp. Im not sure what else to try

There is probably something terribly wrong at that point in your movie. Bad media file, bad render, missing font, no way to know from here.

Compressor error "QuickTime Error 0"

I am trying to compress a 7 min. video using Final Cut Studio outputting directly to compressor, after about 45 min. of compressing I get the error message "Failure Quicktime Error 0"
Settings: 2 pass VBR 6.7 - 7.2, 16 x 9
This movie does have alot of transitions, effects etc.
I am able to compress a Sorenson version for review.
Any guidence would be greatly appreciated.

...Some more info on this topic.
I tried the same process on another G5 and got the same error so I don't think it's a machine specific related problem. I also tried rendering the video via Quicktime export uncompressed and got the error: FXScript Divide by 0. Now I think it must be one of my effects or several that is causing the problem.
I am going to go back to previous versions of the project and see if I can render, then perhaps I can isolate the problem. I'll let you all know if I solve it. I have searched the threads and google but have only found more people with the problem and no solutions.

Knowing how many people is connected to my airport express

I have an airport express and is encrypted how ever I would like to know how many people is connected to it, is this posible?

I would like to see things like who's connected to my airport express, and whether the airport has been able to get an IP address from the DSL modem, and so on.
Can the airport management tools do this? I tried installing the version linked from www.apple.com/support/airport, but got the error "This application requires Airport 3.4 or later." However, I've installed Airport 4.2 already.
Is the shareware Airport Monitor Utility the only way to go for this? I had a hard time interpreting a lot of the information it was giving me...

I can only backup when I chose in settings from Content Copier "Include only memory card."
In time I installed some applications in phone (I read post from cracker1979), but I haved same problem after I received my phone, I only create contacts and tryed to Backup, with same error mesage!
