Quicktime Error When Reinstalling iTunes

Hello,
I recently had some problems with iTunes on my desktop which required me to reinstall the software. After reinstalling the software and trying to run it, it gave me an error message saying I had to install a later version of Quicktime. I downloaded the newest version of Quicktime and tried to install it and got an error saying the version I tried to install was older than the version I had installed. I then uninstalled both iTunes and Quicktime and removed registry entries with the program Registry Mechanic and reinstalled iTunes WITH Quicktime included. I received the same error message saying I had to install a later version of Quicktime. I then tried to reinstall Quicktime and got the same error I received before. iTunes and my ipod both work fine on my laptop, so the problem seems to be just with my desktop. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • QuickTime error when starting iTunes

I have a 30Gb Video iPod. I have a new laptop, and moved software over from previous laptop using PC Relocator. I get an error message when I try to start iTunes: "QuickTime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.0.3 or later. Please reinstall iTunes." I removed both iTunes and QuickTime through 'Add/Remove Programs' in the control panel, and reinstalled iTunes from both the original install disk and from the iTunes website, and got the same error. I also reinstalled QuickTime version 7.0.3, and get the same error. Has anyone run into this problem and gotten it fixed?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Go here and rool down to the section "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer" then disable any antivirus programs and reinstall iTunes from the net http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
If that does not nail the issue, try installing the standalone version of quicktime here http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html

  • Quicktime errors when installing itunes.

I've been trying to install itunes for the last couple of days and have folowed the instructions provided by apple. When I try tpo run the program I always get the following ' Quicktime error. Quicktime failed to initialise (error-2096). Please uninstall itunes , then reinstall itunes again.
I've done this abut half a dozen times and it's not working. Getting a bit fed up with the whole thing.
    Anyone got any ideas??

You should find the compatibility tab if you are looking in the right place.
Could you confirm what you did.
Open My Comupter, then the c: drive
    Open c:\Program Files\Quicktime
    Right click on Quicktimeplayer.exe
    Select Properties.
The compatibility tab should be right there.

  • Quicktime error   when opening itunes why?

I have used itunes for a while with a Nano, i recently got an iphone.  Now no matter wht i do i get a quicktime error.  It says Quicktime was not found.  I have a hp with windows 7.  I have deleted about 6 times and reinstalled.  I have cut off all protection running.  I have followed the instruction on this web site.  Please help!

For those reading this who do not have a QuickTime settings icon visable in their Control Panel window - look to the top left of the Control Panel window and click on Classic View.
The QuickTime icon will be visible.
I did have K-Lite but I installed it as part of WMPod after I had all this palarva, thinking I would then be able to sync via Windows Media Player. Not so, Windows Media Player did not recognise the plug in - did not have it listed in the options windows.
    When I double clicked on the QuickTime icon in Control Panel (classic view) I got this message;
An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL
    "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Quicktime.cpl",Quicktime"
I had in fact deleted what I thought were duplicate QT plugins (there were half a dozen in the Programs\Internet Eplorer folder and more in Mozilla).
So I downloaded QuickTime (again) and selected repair once the installation window was up. Double clicked on QuickTime in Control Panel again.
    Same message again.

  • Quicktime error when opening itunes.

When I open itunes I keep getting this error:
    AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 7.1.1.5 ModName: quicktime.qts
    ModVer: 7.1.6.200 Offset: 0006f333
looks like some type of quick time error. I started happening after the 7.1.6 upgrade. Any suggestions?

Quick Time will not open. "I get a Buffer overrun detected!" error message. This error is given by Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. The steps I have take so far are to uninstall itunes and quick time, delete the temp folder, run MS clean up utility, run CC cleaner and cleaned up the registry for the uninstalled items. I then went back and reinstalled quick time and then itunes. I still get the same error. Itunes will open fine after a reboot. After a while it does not open anymore.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

Thanks for posting the link.  That worked for me just fine.  I had previously uninstalled & reinstalled Itunes but that didn't work because I was not removing all the folders associated with it. Have a great week!

    Is there a solution?

    Hey there Rodney274,
It sounds like you are getting an error from iTunes when you launch it. I would try the troubleshooting in this article named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
Start with troubleshooting for 3rd party plug ins section, then the rest of the article if needed:
    Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
    Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
    Does iTunes launch properly now?
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

My itunes can not upgrade. it is looking for athe Itunes.MSI file, but it is unable to find it on the C:drive.  How do I correct the error, and reinstall Itune for my Iphone, Ipad and Ipod?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • TS3212 I get an apple application support error when installing itunes. It says uninstall and re-install.  Does not work.  same message.  What is a solution?

I get an apple application support error when installing itunes. It says uninstall and re-install.  Does not work.  same message.  What is a solution?

Is that an error 2 message?
If so, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • TS3212 I tried to update my itunes to the most current version. Gave me an error saying an app has made an attempt to load the C RUNTIME LIBRARY incorrectly. Then later it a new message saie windows error 1114 Reinstall Itunes. I don't want to lose my dat

I am unable to update my itunes. I received the following message. "An app has made an attempt to load the C runtime librarhy incorrecly. Showed this number R6034 " It stated contact the applications support team. Tried again and received Error 7 windows error 1114 Reinstall iTunes and I need help. Thanks

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
