Quicktime Export Audio greyed out

I have QT Pro. When I try to export a movie in any format the audio is always greyed out and I can't switch it on. I tried with different files from different sources and it always the same case. What is wrong with my Quicktime? How can I fix it please! I would appreciate any help!

Your files are MPEG-1 and QuickTime can't extract the audio portion of them.
Use MPEG Streamclip to convert them to QuickTime formats. It will extract the audio.

  • Quicktime export, colors washed out

I think this question has been asked before but I just couldn't find a good explanation in the archives. Wondering if anyone knows why, when I export my movie out of FCP to h.264 and then playback in quicktime, the colors become much more muted and washed out. This has been happening for awhile now, and its been driving me nuts and now I have a project that is absolutely going to hurt because of it.
I want the bright vibrant colors that I see in my canvas in FCP -- what gives? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Yeah, sorry, this was actually a graphic created in Motion 3 then sent to FCP to sync with some audio and other sound effects. The entire workflow is HDV 1080p24, compressed to various sizes of h.264 and meant for web only. Because it is meant for the web, I have bypassed a calibrated monitor and am just doing all the work on my Apple Cinema displays.
Like I said, I can take the exported h.264 version from FCP, open it in quicktime and hold it up right next to my FCP canvas and the luma and chroma values are noticeable muted, less vibrant, and just not as much fun to look at.
I have played around with the general settings in Quicktime, specifically the "Enable Final Cut Studio color compatibility" option, but still no change. I have read other places about this being a gamma issue once the movie is played back in Quicktime, but I really don't know what that means.
All of my software is about as up to date as you can get.

  • AppleTV export: Audio goes out of sync on long videos

I am using Quicktime Player Pro to compress several long (30-90min) videos to watch on my other Apple products. The AV sync is perfect in my original movies (they are NTSC 29.97 DVCPRO50 with uncompressed AIFF 48KHz audio) However, when I export using any of the h264 presets (AppleTV, iPod, or iPhone) the audio becomes out of sync near the end of the video.
This seems like a bug. Is there some way to correct this?

Trim into smaller clips well under 30 minutes. Encode each separately then join them after. You can encode the clips a lot faster in MPEG Streamclip (free) and in a batch list as well.

  • Motion 5 Share/Export Buttons Greyed out

Hi, just got Motion 5 on it's own for a project we're doing in FCP7 and for some reason all the "next" or "share" buttons in the export menus are greyed out or disabled. We've messed with a lot of settings but to no avail.
Is there something I'm missing here? There's nothing written on the Motion product page about requiring Compressor or FCP-X to export and I haven't found anyone else online with this issue.

So there's nothing I can do to get this fundamental part of the software working? It's pretty stupid if it can't save.
The only option I have to take this higher is to get Apple Care video and that's $800 for something that appears to be a bug in Motion validating an external framework. From a software design perspective, the only reason that I'd want to grey those buttons is if there were a setting in each dialog that you needed to set before you could export or you were only using a trial version and you wanted to stop people from exporting it or if the dependent framework (e.g. ProApps export manager) wasn't validated in the registry within motion.
If they throw anything else at me like you need FCPX or Compressor or Lion then that's not right either since they had no mention of that on their website when I purchased it.
    This is just really frustrating!

  • Audio greyed out after a while

    Hi all,
Can't seem to find a definite solution to this. When I keep my iMac on for several days going in to sleep mode every time I leave it for the night I end up with a greyed out speaker icon and thus no sound.
When going into the sound settings and changing between either 'internal speakers' and 'wavtap' it activates the icon again but still no sound. Restarting, unplugging does not help. Plugging in the headphone jack, nothing. out again. nothing.
One time it worked changing. Now it no longer does.
Then strangely enough when typing this message I was still using my itunes and playing a songs and suddenly during a song it suddenly started playing again. Definitely some driver issue.
Anyone a solution that is not about restarting the PRAM?? I mean, there should be plenty of people having this. What is going on? I recently changed to mac it this bugs me a lot.
    Thanks guys.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update, select 'View update history' in the left hand pane and then select 'Installed updates' link in the following window.
Locate update KB2962407, right click it and select Uninstall.  When done, restart the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates'.  You'll see the update you just uninstalled being offered again - right click and select 'Hide Update'.
After this you may or may not need to delete and reload the Audio driver - if you do, the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 8.

  • QuickTime captions menu greyed out

I created closed captions using MagPIE, and placed the captions in the same file as the base media. I've selected "Show closed captions when available" in Edit/Player Preferences. But the captions do now show up and in View, the menu for Show Closed Captioning is greyed out. What is missing?

    Hello there
    Export Settings
I used codec settings and export settings you had set in the project you shared for MXF OP1a embedding to closed captioning. Embedding to MXF -- I could see 608 and 708 closed caption in the resulting exported MXF in PPRO CS 7.1. In "Export Settings" via File-> Export-> Media, I also tried other Video Codecs under Video to see if this could make a failure to embed closed captions into MXF -- but I didn't see a problem.
    Preferences to Import Closed Captions
Nothing special needs to be done for PPRO to import closed captions embedded in MXF or MOV files, if the caption data is there, and the user has "Include Captions on Import" checked under Preferences-> Media then that should do it.
PPRO Monitor Settings to Display 708 CC
One thing to check, is in the Source and the Program monitors -- see if under the wing menu "Closed Captioning Display" "Settings..." is set to CEA-708 -- if it is set to 608 or to a different service not matching the 708 service your CC data is associated with, then you will not see 708 closed captions in either monitors if this is not set right.
Other OP1a MXF Embedded CC files
You also could post the other two OP1a MXF files that you see are giving you a problem, not showing closed captioning in PPRO CS 7.1, and I can look at them and see what I see.
Thanks, as always, for following up.

  • PDF Export option greyed out in DIAdem 11.1 with Win7 64-bit

In DIAdem Report tab, the "PDF Export..." (Under menuitem "File") option is visible but greyed out.

    Hello NI_LV_82_User,
The DIAdem PDF output is not compatible with Windows 7 (DIAdem 11.1 was released in July 2009, Windows 7 was made available in October 2009). The DIAdem R&D department is currently working on a fix to add this functionality under Windows 7. We are working to provide a solution as soon as possible and will make the release of the Service Pack known here on the forum as soon as it is available.

  • File Export is greyed out in after effects

I was working on a movie project to export into flash professional but when
i get to the export function its greyed out....
i've done this action a few days ago and it worked fine now i can't do it.
I thought because i imported different jpegs into the project that maybe this was the problem so i went back to the project which had allowed me to do this in the first place but the export feature was also greyed out...
    Anyone?

I tried Selecting one comp, multiple comps
, its just weird...could it be a preferences thing orcomp settings?

  • Itunes 5.1 Audio Greyed Out

Hi, I am trying to build a home media library, and am ripping all of my dvds to mp4 using Handbrake. My computer is connected via HDMI to an AVR, and the 5.1 sound for movies purchased through iTunes works great. When I rip DVDs, I rip the audio in two tracks, a Dolby Pro Logic II aac track, and an ac3 passthough track (for surround). When I try to play this in iTunes the aac track works fine (labeled "English (Stereo)"), but the ac3 track (labeled "English(Surround)"), is greyed out. When I play the file in VLC the surround track works fine. How can I play the surround track in Itunes?

I have the same problem using OSX - in videos including 2 audio tracks (original and AC3) AC3 is greyed out. Strangly enough the video plays in QT7 (language can be choosen from the menu) but NOT in QT Player and iTunes. Neither does AppleTV3 allows the AC3 track to play.

  • Why is "Export Video" greyed out? I need to export an AVI (PP2.0)

Yes, I'm still on PP 2.0. I've never seen this until today where Premiere won't allow me to export my AVI with video as Microsoft DV AVI. It will if I switch it to Microsoft AVI. (See screen print image.)
I've re-booted, I've tried importing the settings that I had previously saved for times like this. Still nothing. When I open ANY project, now, I have the same issue. Any ideas?
I remember with an old version of Premiere when something quarky like this happened we'd have to delete the prefs and then re-open the project for the prefs to reset. Is there something like that for this?

Problem solved. In the past, I have actually had Video mistakenly uncheck and rendered out AVI's that were audio only. (I only work with DV AVI's, although it's entirely possible a setting got switched to the non-DV.) So this time I simply panicked when I saw it grayed out and don't ever remember it being like that. Hunt, you are right that even though it was grayed out, it was still checked, so I did a test movie and the video IS there. I'm a bit embarrassed that I didn't try this sooner. I simply panicked.  Thanks guys!

  • Quicktime exports are washed out, low contrast

    Hey-
This sounds like a classic gamma problem, but i don't know where to look to fix it. Basically, my edit looks one way, but when i export the quicktime of the timeline, playback in quicktime is washed out, drab, low contrast, and has less saturation than it does in the edit in FCP.
Anyone know how best to address this? is this a gamma issue IN FCP? I expect, when export my quicktime, that playback in the quicktime player and on other computers (i've looked at it on a windows machine as well) will look the same way it does in my FCP edit, and it doesnt.
    Help, and thanks!

    Chris
afraid you are mistaken, looking at the file on a PC will be quite different to looking at it on a mac and I am thinking this may be where your issues start.
(Sorry if the following is sucking eggs)
Go to your display preferences/color and check what is set there, return to a default profile or even better calibrate your displays. The way QT displays a files is different to the way FCP does, (citation needed). Also typically a mac is set to a gamma of 1.8 whilst a PC is set to a gamma of 2.2. This used to be a real problem creating mpg1 content for PC's, had to create a gamma setting specifically for display on a PC. I must admit that I am now creating wmv's, (Flip4Mac) for insertion in Powerpoint and corporate web and gamma is no longer an issue.
As you said classic gamma problem, also try using one of the prepackaged compressor settings with no tweaking.

  • Export a Quicktime puts audio out of sync.

    Hi
I've just cut some footage capture on my iPhone.
When I export the quicktime the audio is out of sync. When I play the final cut timeline it's fine.
    Any suggestions please?

Hi - Do you want the detailed explanation or the quickest solution?
    If the quickest solution:
    Click anywhere on your timeline.
Type Command + 0 (zero) to bring up your sequence settings.
    When it opens change
    !http://www.spotsbeforeyoureyes.com/SeqSettingH264.jpg!
    to this:
    and click OK.
When you have done that a red render bar will appear over your sequence, click anywhere on the timeline and type Command + A and the type Command + R to render it all.
    Now export your Quicktime movie.
Hope this helps. If you want the detailed explanation post back.

  • InDesign CS3, Cannot Export (greyed out) or Print

HELP!! I am having trouble Printing and Exporting in InDesign CS3 only(mac osx), I can Export and Print on all other Adobe programs that are installed on my computer.
I can also still create a PDF through the Adobe PDF presets, but cannot EXPORT or PRINT!!! Under the File Settings, Export is Greyed out, while Print is Black, but nothing happens when clicked.
Any ideas???... My printer driver is working good as I print to 3 printers at the moment and make pdfs of a regular basis and this has never happened before. It just seemed to happen out of the blue when I turned my computer on one morning. I've been working the long way around for now, but now need it fixed desperately!!!

The classic question is what were you doing just before this? Programs usually don't stop working for no reason "out of the blue," so most likley something else has changed on your system.

  • Export Audio Option is Missing

I have a simple project set up - 3  video clips making up the movie, and 2 audio clip - as part of a training/testing.
I need to export the audio (they are mp3 format)
However, when I do File->Export->Audio, I have only the following choices:
    Media
    Adobe Clip Notes
    Title (Greyed out)
    Export  Tape (greyed out)
    Export to EDL
    Export to OMF
I am guessing I have something configured incorrectly, but haven't been able to find out what.   Any ideas?
    Thanks

Curious.  I don't have that option.  Though I am still using 4.1.0.
Have you tried the standard method of File>Export>Media... and calling up the correct settings there?
