Quicktime export options, want 480x360, can I????

Currently Iphoto 5 when you go to (share > export) to export to quicktime it allows 3 sizes. Small (240x180) Medium (320x240) and Large (760x480).
Since I like to use 480x360 I have to go through a second process and export from quicktime again to get that size.
Is there any way to add this option to Iphoto5 so that it exports directly out of Iphoto in that size or is something I'm missing?

idealconcepts:
No. Even iPhoto 6 has only those three options. You may have to create your slideshow in iMovie where you have greater control over the exported size.

  • Quicktime Export options are missing (only in AME)

    Hey,
I already searched around for a while and also found another thread in this board, as well some info in the official documentation, saying that AME only installs certain export options, if it's not installed within the proper package of applications (like premiere or after effects).
Well, I did install it as part of the Master Collection, and also have both Premiere and AFX up and running.
The Initial install was a horrible procedure, since there was still some photoshop cs6 beta file lurking around and just wouldnt leave, even with the CS cleaner tool.
When I finally managed to install CS6, everything worked fine, except one major flaw.. When I export a file from premiere as a quicktime, everyhting works as it should. But when I hit "send to AME", the quicktime preset just doesnt make it's way over to the media encoder, but I have only h264 and 4 other formats to choose from. Just no QT available. (I'm on a mac).
I already tried installing the entire package over the original installation, but it didnt help. I also have CS6 installed on my macbook, where everything works perfectly fine. I compared the media encoder folder on both machines and it's identical in size. In the library I wasn't able to find any media encoder related files.
Please, does anyone have any Idea how to get QT export in ame up and running again without going through a complete cleansing of my system and reinstall the whole package? I'm in the middle of a project now and would really like to have it working.
(it worked before in cs5, btw)
    THX

Just like chfilm I have the same problem with AME CS6 on Mavericks.
I came here after having resolved another problem, namely because Premiere Pro (PP)
and AME were not even launching as soon as the Quick Time Bundle Host were being loaded on the splash screen – same thing happened with PP (see screenshot).
A Forum discussion for that is here: https://forums.adobe.com/message/5521256
I followed the correct answer suggestion and deleted two files in AME as well as in PP.
They were called "ExporterQuicktimeHost.bundle and ImporterQuicktimeHost.bundle".
    Except, that I didn't have a file called "ImporterQuicktimeHost.bundle" but a plain "ImporterQuickTime.bundle".
Since the Quicktime Presets in AME are now missing, I think that this problem is related to the problem of this thread.
Here is what I tried to resolve the case of the missing presets:
    - I tried out the solutions under post #8 (the correct answer)
    - and #25 by leejk of this thread.
    Neither worked for me.
    - I also tried uninstalling the whole adobe suite and used the Adobe Cloud Cleaner Tool and then reinstalled the Adobe Suite.
    Nothing changed.
    - With the newly installed Adobe Suite, I followed post #4 of this thread Uninstalling AME CC
to make sure, my files weren't corrupted. (If you look into the thread: instead of a version 7.0 I had a version 6.0.)
Btw: Before uninstalling the whole suite, every application, including PP worked – except of AME.

  • QuickTime on Yosemite wants but can't convert .mov files

I have upgraded to Yosemite and wanted to watch a .mov file that worked fine on Snow Leopard but on Yosemite I get that QT wants to convert the file but then can't. An Error message gives me the opportunity to learn more. I don't learn any more. Does anyone know why QT on Yosemite can't read and play .move files??

Does anyone know why QT on Yosemite can't read and play .move files??
Under Yosemite and Mavericks, the QT X player is not allowed to access proprietary/third-party codecs installed by the user for playback. If you have not removed any codecs during the Yosemite upgrade, and assuming the codecs are QT 7 playback compatible, you can install and use the QT Player 7 for Mac OS X 10.6.3 or Later app (if not already installed on your system). This QT 7 player is compatible with Mac OS X v10.6.3 thru Yosemite and allows access to codecs for which a user has configured his or her system—assuming those codecs are compatible with the QT 7 player. (I.e., since the file played under Snow Leopard, chances are good that QT 7 can play it also under Yosemite.) Other possible options would be to play the file using a free third-party media player like VLC or use an app like HandBrake to convert your file to a QT X v10.4 player compatible file. (Oops! • Still Frame Quicktime Export with Interlace. what can I do?

    hi.
do you know how to avoid the interlacing happening when making a still frame with quicktime conversion in fcp? I need some stills for promotional purposes but the interlacing is a problem obviously.
    thanks for you help.
    best rob

2 ways- make a freeze frame and export a still of that or de-interlace in photoshop.
The problem is you are throwing away half of the vertical resolution. If you're going to be printing these, they'll look like heck. I understand there's a niftyplug in called genuine fractals for photoshop that does a decent job of up-rezzing.

  • Best export options in QuickTime Pro to burn a dvd with?

I'm trying without luck to establish a workflow where i edit original content (combine image and sound, add credits) in QuickTime Pro then i need to burn the resulting movie to a dvd. This seems near to impossible.
I have finally figured out i need third party software to do more converting before it can be burned (i worry that every conversion robs a bit more quality - i had to do conversions initially to get my content from dvd given to me by the videographer or from my VHS-to-DVD converter into QT Pro, what a pain!). So i've got something called DVDFlick to convert into ISO image containing VOB structure, then use ImgBurn to actually burn the ISO image to cd, to get a playable dvd.
What i can't figure out is what is the proper format to export out of QT Pro? I tried DV/DVPRO and AVI both, but those resulted ultimately in audio skips on my commercial dvd players, as well as a movie that won't play the audio in Windows Media Player, but will in other DVD software players.
I was under the impression i needed to export as MPEG-2, but i can't find that anywhere in QT Pro export options. I notice there is an MPEG-2 add-on for Windows from Apple Store, but it only talks about playback from dvd, not going in the opposite direction like i am, where i want to save as MPEG-2 from Quicktime Pro. Please help make sense of all this
    -steve

Sorry, but you cannot export from QuickTime as MPEG-2. As you discovered, the MPEG-2 Playback Component is, as the name implies, for playback only. You'll need to work with the developer of your DVD creation software to determine why you're getting audio skips. Normally a DV export works well, but as they say, your mileage may vary. Any export will depend on the quality of the source media. You may need to look into different software for creating and burning your DVDs if DVDFlick continues to give you problems.
    Regards.

  • Quicktime 7.1.3 not showing the Flash FLV Exporter option.

I have a macbook with FCP 5.1.2, Quicktime 7.1.3 and Flash Pro 8 installed.
The same as with my G5, but different release of FCP (FCP 4.5 HD in G5)
On my G5 all is fine. I see the FLV export plug in.
The problem is in my Macbook : I can't see the FLV export plug option in Quicktime (export) nor in FCP (file>export>via Qt conversion).
I've made the same installation process in both machines.
Perhaps a problem with the Flash 8 Professional installation on Intel Macs ?
    (That installation was well finished)
Anyway, I can encode with the FLV standalone encoder that comes with Flash 8 pro, but sometimes the plug in is a shortcut way to get a FLV file on the fly.
Could anyone help me to resolve that situation ?
Many thanks in advance. I always got a solution from you Guys!
    Daniel

    QuickTimeKirk, thanks for the reply.
Yes, I think as you that the problem is from FLV exporter from Flash 8. It is not Universal. I will not go backward with QT. I prefer to wait until the UB Flash 8 Pro see the light..... or Flash Pro 9 (for sure it will be Universal)
    Thanks again !

  • What export options in Quicktime Pro or Final Cut Pro should I select to export  HDV video in .MOV files to highest quality Windows-compatible files?

I have some HDV video files imported through iMovie to .MOV files with Apple Intermediate Codec.
I need to convert these to Windows compatible video files of the highest possible ( least loss) quality.  What export options in Final Cut Pro or in Quicktime Pro should I select?  The codex in the converted files must not be Apple Intermediate Codec, for which there is no Windows version.

Okay, I read the whole Flip4Mac website.
Flip4Mac is an application for Apple computers.
Perhaps my question was unclear.  When I posed it I was thinking of asking somebody with an Apple shop to do the conversion for me, and wanted advice on settings for his QUicktime Pro /Final Cut Pro that would produce the highest quality Windows -compatible files.
The Windows version of Quicktime will not play Quicktime files with Apple Intermediate Codec.  You get black screen video, although the audio does come through.
So here's what I need:  I need a Windows application that will transcode Quicktime files in Apple Intermediate Codec, with no loss or very little loss, to WIndows-compatible files.   All Windows, all the time.  Thank you.

  • Where can I find explanations for all the export options?

[ Re-posting this from the iPhoto & iDVD branches ]
When I export a slideshow in iPhoto 9, choose 'Custom export' and then hit the 'Options' button, a dialog pops up with Video & Sounds options that can further be explored. In the Video section, I can click on the 'Settings' button, amongst others, to reveal lots of things that can be tweaked (Compressor Type, Motion, Data Rate & Compressor).
Where can I find help and explanations of what all these settings do, when to change them, why they should be changed, to what values and what effects these all have on the overall output?
Apple has a user manual for FCE4 on their web-site and I recognise some of these iPhoto slideshow export settings from similar dialog boxes from within FCE4. Does a user manual for iPhoto 9 exist also? I can't find it on Apple's web-site.
It has been suggested to me that these are all standard QT settings/options - hence the re-post to this forum.

It's always been up to each user to find all of the "hidden gems" in any OS software. Most of us experiment, test, try, fail and try again with all the options. Along the way we learn what works, what doesn't. I've played, poked and prodded QuickTime Pro for the last ten years and even wrote a "book" about it. I have over 200 bookmarks to resources and links that help me sort things out.
    Onto some answers:
    1. on your list is actually a three part question. Since you probably can't burn a true "HD" DVD we'll leave that part out.
You can easily "share" your iPhoto files with iDVD and burn in SD 16:9 format. You need to learn nothing about the compression options as iDVD will do all of the work. The Web based file formats (from the same source file) are an easy "trick" in QuickTime Pro.
QuickTime Pro includes an export option "Export for Web" that will make up to 4 "versions" of your source file and even write the html code for you to copy/paste into your Web pages. It creates up to 4 versions (iPhone, iPod, Desktop and cell phone) with just one export and writes html page code that can "read" your connected visitors "speed" to serve up just the right file for the device.
Your number 2 question is answered by your SD DVD media device. Can't make a sow's ear into a silk purse. But you could use QuickTime Pro export options to create a "true" HD file and display it on your HD TV. If your HD TV includes HDMI connections (and all should) you could either connect your camera directly to the TV (via cables) to display the "raw" video captures or use iTunes (free) application to export HD video to an appliance like Apple TV.
My "book" (a downloadable PDF) does include an explanation about nearly all of the QuickTime available codecs but it's probably not needed for your particular workflow. The built-in preset exports are all you probably need to use.
Compression type = file format (AVI, MP3, MOV, etc.).
Motion = frame rate allows you to change the source frame rate to meet the restrictions of your delivery media (nearly always adjusted to reduce file size for Web delivery). E.G source is 30 fps and delivery is 15 fps (reduces file size).
Key frames = "special" frames of the video that either "predict" or "optimize" for the delivery media format. The Export for Web feature of QuickTime Pro defaults should be all you need.
Quality slider = is "optional" but usually defaults to "medium". In most cases this is best left at the default setting.
Dimensions = file size dimensions. Well crafted, H.264 video codec QuickTime files will look very good when displayed at up to twice the file export dimension. This means you can display a Web based 640X480 file at "Full Screen" size (display resolution) without much degradation of video quality. Older codecs will not look as good when doubled in size.
Preserve Aspect ratio = just what it says. Widescreen source = widescreen display.
    De-interlace source = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deinterlacing
Hope this helps you sort things out.
Data rate = the amount of compression (data limit)

  • Quicktime Pro closes out when i click on Export:Options:Settings

Hi I have a Latitued D630 Laptop running Windows XP pro with a Nvidia Quadro NVS 135m graphics card. When I go to File, export, options, and click on any of the options under video quicktime will close completly out. I remember when i first installed quicktime and opened it up it gave me an error that talking about the buffer. I am no longer to get the error message to research it online.
I narrowed it down to my graphics card because if i uninstall my graphics card and try the same steps it works just fine. I have tried to find older drivers for my graphics card and they all do the same thing. I called dell on the issue and they have no clue.

Some people with that issue have reported that they can get past that crash if they go into their QuickTime Control panel (Advanced tab), and select "Safe mode (GDI only)". (Click OK and restart QuickTime after making the settings change.
Does that bring any relief in your case?
