QuickTime export suddenly no longer works.

Hello,
We recently upgraded our new studio equipment from Final Cut Pro to Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 on a brand new, latest edition Mac OS. We have had a handful of problems but most I have been able to work out. However, this recent one has me stuck and I need some help.
So far, we have been exporting our videos the last two weeks by going to File--Export--Media and then selecting the Format as QuickTime and Preset as HD 1080i 29.97, H.264, AAC 48kHz. We leave everything else alone and hit export (of course changing the output name, but dumping it in the same place as the project file is). These settings looked great and were what our clients preferred, and they matched our incoming video settings. The size of the output file was also not too bad.
However, yesterday for no reason it no longer works. Now, it says "Error compiling movie. Unknown error." when I try those settings and hit export.
I have verified that there is no specific video clip it does this with, all of our different intros and outros and video clips from this past weeks logs of video have all been loaded in and they get the same error, we can't export. They worked before so it can't be the video clips. In addition, it is ONLY with QuickTime. If I say select the format to be H.264 and then preset as say HD 1080i then it works. It works with all of the other presets and formats I have chosen EXCEPT the QuickTime format! Even choosing the other presets under QuickTime yields nothing.
Basically I can't seem to be able to produce .mov files anymore. In the directory I chose as the output, it creates a .mov file with the name of video I was trying to export but you can't open it and it has hardly any size.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on? For now we are exporting at .mp4. It takes longer though and our files are much bigger and some of our clients have to do some converting so we'd like this fixed.
Mike

I have some updates, does anyone have any ideas?
After reinstalling the software, the problem was fixed and we could export with the QuickTime settings again. However, a couple days later the problem came back. What is wierd is that is only affected certain users. For instance, on my account I am still export .mov videos just fine. However, after the error showed up for someone midday , anyone who logged into Adobe Premiere for the first time since the installation but after the error appeared get the error. I logged in before the error appeared and do not get it.
I tried deleting the settings and files for specific people who have the problem, but it doesn't seem to fix the problem.
I am trying ti figure out what tripped the error, and can find no reason other than the potential that not having all of the files saved in one place where the video is exported as being a problem....as that is the only ting the person did differently than I did. They had there stuff saved in multiple places. However after fixing that that didn't fix the problem.
Lastly, we nee to export .mov with the H.264 codec. Most of the codecs don't work and changing other settings don't work....if its a .mov files qith QuickTime it fails with unknown errors. However, a couple strange Apple codecs work, but we can't use them because the files they produce are like 4-5GB big for our 3-4min videos.
Thanks....and feedback is appreciated.

Hi - Not sure there is a lot you can do, unfortunately.  With that said, I'd definnitely do a reset of the printer:
Press the Power button ( ) to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from back of the product.
Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 90 seconds.
Connect the power cord into wall outlet.
Connect the power cord to the back of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button ( ) to turn it on.
    Try the touchpad.
One other thing to try, disconnect if from the computer/router, power it off and see if you have the same problem.  If you're still seeing the same issue after following the steps listed above, it would likely need to be serviced if you want the touchscreen fixed.
    Hope that helps.

Why is  Siriusxm  suddenly no longer working on safari?

Here are some suggestions for getting the best results from this site.
Create a user profile that accurately reflects the type of hardware you're using and your version of OS X, or include that information in your first message.
Give details of the problem. A statement such as "it doesn't work" conveys no information. If it did work, you wouldn't be here. Instead, you should post something like this: "I did A; I was expecting B; but I got C instead." Include the complete text of any error messages you saw and where you saw them: in an application window, a CrashReporter window, a log, or whatever. Also include the steps you’ve taken yourself, if any, to try to resolve the issue. If the problem is of recent origin, did you make any changes to your setup just before you first noticed it? Is the problem reproducible or intermittent? That is, does it always manifest itself when you take a certain action, or only at unpredictable times?
Before posting, ask yourself whether it’s likely that you are the the only person ever to have had this problem. If not, search the discussions for answered questions similar to yours. If you found any pertinent information, but it didn't help, include details.

  • Quicktime "Share" feature no longer works for me.

For the past year now I've been using Quicktimes "Share" feature to upload videos to YouTube. As of today, the feature no longer works. When I open a video, click "Share" and then "YouTube" absolutely nothing happens. I've tried with multiple different video files, even some that I previously uploaded using this same method, but to no avail.
I rebooted the computer, and that did not help either. I tried some of the other "Share" options, but non of them work either. The most I've gotten was from the "iTunes" option, from which I got a drop down menu and a few export options, but after selecting my options and clicking next nothing happened.
If it helps, I am on a 2011 iMac, running OSX Lion, and yes, everything is up-to-date (as of 07/04/2012)
(Also, it may be worth mentioning that whenever I export a video from Final Cut, even though I have the option "When finished open in Quicktime," the files will not open automatically. This started happening at the same time as my other issue, but I'm nowhere near as concerned about fixing this.)

  • Airport Express suddenly no longer works

I'm thinking from reading the boards that it may have something to do with the 6.3 update, but in case anyone else has any suggestions, I wanted to outline my new problem.
Computer worked (wirelessly) absolutely fine this morning (G5 imac, Airport Express).
Got home tonight - internet connection was no longer working.
I ran my own diagnostic - the airport and the computer are talking, green light on the airport, network showing up in the drop down menu. This means it's a cable problem, right?
No. All of the cable modem lights are still working, but just in case, I unplug everything to reset.
I reset, still having the same problems.
I spend an hour (2 phone calls) to cable company, who resets my modem, yells at me for using wifi (they refuse to provide support to anyone who uses a router), but points out that if I plug the modem directly into the computer, I'll know whether it's actually the internet connection.
So I do this (annoyingly, I might add, since the wifi has previously enabled me to have my modem in the living room near the stereo, and not in my office). After stringing wires everywhere, voila! I have internet (as evidenced by this interminably long post). However, when I reset everything again to use the Express, I'm back to the same problem. All the lights on every device say it's a go, but nothing (e-mail, internet, etc.) loads. When I run the diagnostic presented in safari, all lights are green except second to last, "Internet". Gee thanks for that obviousness.
Cable company won't help me at this point, because as far as they're concerned, when the computer is hooked up "correctly", as in hard line to my computer (as in, not violating their terms of service), it works perfectly fine.
I read a few things here, and try a hard reset on the express. no luck (and yes, I know to reset, repower, etc. all the devices before each attempt). The ONLY thing that I did was yesterday, when I ran all the software updates on my iMac. Doesn't explain why it was working this morning...
I've had this airport for several years. I've set them up in all of parents', friends, etc. homes. I've never had a problem like this (I've had plenty of problems, but they always have fairly obvious symptoms - lights out or yellow or whatnot that hint at something wrong).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the quick response! just to give some further detail...
    • Turn off the Airport card and then turn it back on.
-- I did this during the initial attempts (all further attempts will have to wait until tomorrow, as it's past my bedtime)
    • "network showing up in the drop down menu" with a check mark next to it?
-- yes, the network has always shown up.
    • This thread has a user with a bogus DNS entry.
    • Does your Powerbook work?
    -- I'll try these tomorrow
    • What IP are you getting on your iMac?
-- I was getting the standard 10.10....address created by the airport.
    • Create a new Location on your iMac's Network System Preferences and re-create the Airport connection
    • Keychain First Aid?
    • Temporarily connect via ethernet directly to the Express and check it's configuration again.
    • Reset the trusted networks.
-- I'll try all of these tomorrow
    Good Luck!
    -- Thanks!

  • Quicktime Export taking a long time

I rendered a project. Took 4 hours. Quicktime Export took the same after the render. Did NOT export self-contained. Usually a Quicktime Export is a matter of minutes, not hours.

I've had a similar problem before. (after render) I ask it to export as a reference movie, but it still takes forever. However, when I check the supposed reference file, it turns out that it's self contained (you can tell by the size). So, check the file that was exported...if it's huge then that's a good indicator that FCP didn't recognize the referenced video command. Maybe it's time to trash preferences or some other kind of troubleshooting? Then again, this problem has been random for me, happening on some projects but not others. --David

  • Router suddenly no longer works with my iMAC. Please help, I'm desperate.

SSIA, pretty much. One day, after a few years of working fine, my Linksys BEFSR41 Vers. 3 router just stopped working with my iMac. I've dtermined through process of elimination that it is indeed the router since I can access the internet by plugging the cable modem directly into my Mac and thus can write this to you guys now. I tried just hooking up the Mac and the router directly and trying to access it through the http://192.168.1.1 address. Didn't work. So I thought the router just crapped out for some reason. Then I went out and bought a brand new Linksys BEFSR41 Vers. 3 router. Considering I had no problem with the first one for a few years it seemed reasonable. Now that one won't work either. Although I can access it via the 192.168.1.1 address. However once I do that, I no idea what to do. I tried to upgrade firmware and that was only supposed to "take a few minutes" but it said that for 3 hours so I stopped it. The thing is, with the first router I didn't need to do a thing. All I had to do was plug it in and it worked beautifully with my iMac and TiVo. Maybe something in my iMac wigged out and that why it won't work with these things anymore. I don't know. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to get my iMac and TiVo back online again via this router? I truly appreciate any help and the patience it must've taken you to get this far in reading long post.
    Sincerely,
    Scott

Oh my God thank you so much. I spent the last week trying to figure this **** thing out and that's all it took. Sometimes the most simple explanation is all that's required but last looked at. Thank you for pointing out the obvious. I kinda wish Linksys would've pointed that out to me when I exchanged a total of 25 e-mails with them. Oh well. Thank you again. I am so grateful.

  • TS3961 Quicktime in Lion no longer works. I cannot playback even the Apple ads

I have an older iMac that cannot be upgraded to Mountain Lion, therefore I'm stuck with Lion, but Lion will no longer run Quicktime movies, even those on Apples website. Is there a workaround?

    Hi,
I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal.  I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8.  Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved.  Here is the steps sent to me
Try doing the following to see if the problem gets resolved:
Please follow the instructions here: https://www.expressvpn.org/support/setting_dns_servers_mac_os
(should still be the same for Lion) and then add the following DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 & 208.67.222.220. After adding the DNS servers, please do the following steps as well:
Note: If you're connecting to your ISP via a PPPoE connection, then set the DNS servers on the PPPoE connection itself and then restart your computer for the DNS settings to take effect.
    1. Click on Applications
    2. Click on Utilities
    3. Click on Terminal
    4. Type the following command (without the quotes): "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"
    5. Press enter and then try reconnecting to the VPN.
If you're still unable to connect, please send us in the latest log files.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

  • Quicktime images suddenly won't work on the internet

I have recently had problems accessing movie trailers and even sites with links that need Quicktime to view them. What happens is that I get a faded Quicktime icon with a question mark over the top of it.
I have checked all my preferences, including Quicktime preferences, and all the MIME settings are activated, just in case. I have downloaded Perian and WMV player, to no avail.
This seems to have happened recently, and it's as if the computer can't locate the Quicktime player when it is needed.
    Help?

I have downloaded Perian and WMV player, to no avail
There may be a few more you need:
Download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 11 for Mac from:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15540
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
There is an additional 'fix' you could try if you are having problems with Flash and Quicktime, depending on which type of Mac you have:
On Intel Macs, make sure that you are not running Safari in Rosetta. You can check this, and change it, in the Get Info window.
On PPC Macs, go to the Hard Disk/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and drag the file 'QuickTime Plugin.webplugin' to the desktop. Quit and restart Safari. If things have improved you can trash that file. If they haven't put it back, as the lack of this plug-in can cause QT content in some widgets to cease functioning.

  • FTP suddenly no longer works

This has been a chronic problem with Dreamweaver for me. I searched these forums and see plenty of people with the same problem and plenty that reporting  DW works fine for them. Well... I'm glad Dreamweaver's FTP works for so many of you BUT is there anyone who has had this problem and has figured out why my CS3 DW no longer will log in to a site where it used to work? Or anybody know of a link to a post that has an honest to goodness solution? One by one multiple DW sites I maintain will no longer allow me access to the server. I am now forced to upload using an FTP client.
This isn't about one site, its hit and miss for 20 sites! All with different settings. None of the settings have changed—they should still work. However, DW no longer cooperates. I've tried every combination imaginable of options. With no luck. Not all my sites do this but one by one more and more of them no longer will access their servers. Its like a disease slowly spreading.
    Is there a fix?
    Mac OS 10.5.5
    DW CS3

    Thanks for your reply Murray,
Nothing has changed in my server settings or my local network. I read the instructions at the URL you supplied. I removed my router from my  internet connection and even while connecting directly through the cable modem I cannot access the FTP servers to any of my 20 sites.
I don't use virus protection as I am on a Mac and I'm careful where I go and what I expose myself to.
If FTP configurations are enough to prevent me from accessing these servers, why is it that while using these exact same settings I can still access these servers (consistently) using another FTP client?
If a simple FTP client works for me here I would think that the problem is with Dreamweaver. But if its on my end I would love to discover what's wrong and fix it. I am considering uninstalling and reinstalling DW. Wondering if anyone has solved their problems that way?
Last year when this problem first started happening with only one site, I grabbed an older copy of the file that Dreamweaver stores the FTP information in. Replaced that file with TimeMachine and my DW FTP worked for a several months. Problem is that file keeps getting corrupt and now ALL my sites are inaccessible.
It will take a couple of days (I have many irons in the fire) but will come back and post whether I've been successful using the Troubleshooting URL you posted. Thanks.

  • Export suddenly doesn't work

I have Aperture 2.1.4, on system 10.6.4. I'm not aware of anything changing recently, but now Aperture won't export versions. When I select export versions, it shows as exporting and takes the same amount of time, the export complete message pops up when it's done, but the images are not exported. If I click on "reveal in finder" it goes to the location I specified, but there are no images. (The images are all jpgs, some adjusted via Adobe bridge from RAW, but saved into Aperture as jpgs.) I can export masters. Help appreciated!

I am running OS 10.6.4 and Aperture 3.0.2. I also cannot export versions all of a sudden. I have the exact same problem with the program saying that it is exporting and I left it today for 6 hours and came back. It didn't export any of the pictures and I had to Force Quit the application. I need help or my money back!

  • Netflix suddenly no longer works. Error code S7363-1261-FFFD000

Can anyone suggest a fix. Netflix seems to have stopped working once I upgraded to the latest OS X Yosemite

I believe I know why everyone is having this issue. If you go to your Apple menu and click "About This Mac" I bet everyone who has this issue will find that your serial number will not be present in the about window. In order to view HTML5 video I believe it's a requirement to identify a computer by its unique number.
In this case the hardwares serial number. I believe the question you may be asking yourself is; why does my computer not have a serial number? That's a really good question. Things you might ask yourself; have I recently done a PRAM reset? Perhaps even a SMC reset? Who knows why but here's a solution to the problem. You can go to the Apple store and have them enter your serial number in using a piece of software they use or you can do it yourself. If you want to do it yourself you'll need to download this Apple part number 063-7137-A. If you do a search on the web you'll likely find a place to download it. I'd post a link here but I'm pretty sure Apple would get a bit upset. Once you've downloaded that file you'll want to burn it to a CD or if you're crafty enough you can also burn it to a USB flash drive. After you've done one of those you'll want to boot to the CD/USB and follow the simple instructions. I would take a picture of your serial number off the bottom of your Mac so that you'll be able to see it easier when it prompts to enter it.
    I hope this helps.
