Quicktime Export With FCP Markers

Is there a plugin/program that would allow me to export a Quicktime that includes markers from the FCP timeline?
I would like to be able to export a QT with a marker at every cut that would allow the viewer to jump to each one, and even loop between marks.
What I am NOT looking for:
DVD Chapter Markers.
A QT tutorial of how to Trim to Selection and Loop.

If you export with markers they will show up in the QuickTime file and the markers should show up in the pulldown in the QuickTime Player you can jump to the markers.
But it sounds like you want to be able to author a QuickTime movie that adds something more than that (the looping or another means of jumping?)

  • Quicktime export from FCP quality bad on Windows Quicktime

    Hey all,
I believe this question has been brought up in a previous post (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2932763&#2932763 "Quicktime export from FCP quality bad on PCs"), but it was never answered. So I captured video using final cut pro using the following capture preset:
Sequence Preset - DV NTSC 48 kHz
    DVR-TRV900 using NTSC
    29.97 fps
DV - NTSC at Best Quality
    24 bits per pixel
    720 by 480
When I view the video under quicktime for mac, it looks good. However, when I view the content under quicktime for windows, the quality is noticeably degraded. For instance, when I looked at the video clip in mac, there was a text overlay that displayed the time and date. When I look at it in Windows quicktime, the quality has degraded to an extent that the numbers are no longer readable. Besides the overall quality difference in playback between mac and pc quicktime, there are no other noticeable artifacts. Also, I tried viewing the video in VLC (video lan client) on windows, and it looks perfectly fine.

seems like this is a PC Quicktime issue rather than an FCP issue, you may have more success in resolving the problem if you post your question on the Quicktime for Windows forum
that said, you might want to check the Quicktime Player preferences on your PC (Edit > Preferences > Player Preferences)
make sure you have checked the "Use high quality video setting when available" checkbox
    good luck

  • Still Frame Quicktime Export with Interlace. what can I do?

    hi.
do you know how to avoid the interlacing happening when making a still frame with quicktime conversion in fcp? I need some stills for promotional purposes but the interlacing is a problem obviously.
    thanks for you help.
    best rob

2 ways- make a freeze frame and export a still of that or de-interlace in photoshop.
The problem is you are throwing away half of the vertical resolution. If you're going to be printing these, they'll look like heck. I understand there's a niftyplug in called genuine fractals for photoshop that does a decent job of up-rezzing.

  • Quicktime export with Audio ?

Using Keynote '08, when I export a Keynote presentation with Recorded Timing using Quicktime for export, there is none of the audio that I recorded. Has this been fixed in Keynote '09, or do I still have to use some kind of workaround?

    For clarity's sake -----
I got the EXPORT with Audio to Quicktime part to work, using the DEMO of Keynote '09.
But I was NOT able to get Keynote '09 to RECORD the Audio.
When I tried to do an animation with Recorded Timing using Keynote '09, here's what happened.
I set up a small animation with a move.
    Hit the RECORD button.
Spoke over the top of the animation.
It looked like it was recording.
The red light was on and the little meter was working.
But after finishing, when I went back to the Audio section in the Inspector,
there was no Slideshow Recording listed.
In other words - the recording did not take.
So I had to do my ANIMATION & AUDIO RECORDING using Keynote '08.
And then open that file using Keynote '09.
    Then EXPORT using Quicktime.
    That worked.
    Go figure.

    OS X 10.5.6

  • Embed Quicktime export with hyperlinks in web page

I've got a project I exported from Keynote with hyperlinks -- forward, back, return to menu, etc.
The links work fine in the Quicktime export playing in the player. They work fine if I open the file directly in a web browser.
If I embed the file in a web page, however, the link functionality goes away, and it ends up as a 'click-to-advance' movie. Does anyone know if there's a parameter I need to include in the embed code to enable hyperlinks? I couldn't find any likely candidates in Apple's official list...

My apologies; something must have gone wrong with my export. Tried again, and it works fine!

  • Quicktime export from FCP universal, audio export function

Hey there, I just recently bought the 17 inch mac book pro and did the crossgrade swap to the latest version of FCP studio.
Doing my first complete video edit and DVD project and am at the export stage.
I am doing what I normally do on my dual 2.5 g5 and setting and IN point and an OUT point in FCP and exporting using quicktime.
Just as the defaults, (I do this and have done this dozens and dozens of times)
I do this, then I import that file (after FCP is done into compressor and go from there)
we all know the export using compressor thing isnt ready for primetime..
anyway, doing this and after the first dialgo box is done and it seems the whole thing is done...then a box comes up saying its exporting AUDIO and its going to take 4 hours!
I didnt choose this extra step, the default quicktime export dealy (not "using quicktime conversion) had all this covered I thought...I mean, it has every other time on the OTHER computer)
I canceled this and checked my resulting exported file (the quicktime one) and all the audio and video is intact..
but the process I cancelled bothers me...any ideas?
    thanks so much

    > sorry I am all over the place info wise maybe
No problem - we all find it hard to explain things clearly when we're frustrated by problems like this!
Well that's strange - but at least it's clear what's happeneing now!
I'm at a loss really but if it were me, I'd trash the preferences and repair permissions, then if that didn't work, I'd create a new project in FCP and transfer the clips over. Sometimes this can iron out strange bugs.
Failing all, I'd create a new ID on my Mac and work from there - but if this works, then Jerry's advice regarding the clean install is a must, really.
Another thing I'd try is exporting direct through Compressor - it's a wonderful tool and you really should get to know it. It would be worth using Compressor to export a QT movie to see whether it makes any difference.
Is the full project on the G5 as well as the MBP?

  • Help with Quicktime Export from FCP

    Hi,
I just completed a wedding in Final Pro 5.2, and exported as self contained movie. I open it in IDVD, and the quality was not so good with converting from HDV to Mpeg 2. What is the best setting for HDV conversion to SD Anamorphic for a DVD? any special tweeks in the bitrates that I can ajust for greater quality? I am also encoding to H.264 HD for Studio Pro so there will be two veiwable versions on DVD. Ideas?
    Thanks Tim C.

  • All I want is a QuickTime Movie with chapter markers :)

    Hi,
This should be simple . . . very simple . . . but I don't think DVD Studio Pro will do it? I have a QuickTime movie - shot with the HVX200, overcranked - stunning video with numerous chapter markers created in Final Cut Pro exported as a self contained movie. I love the way you can click the little window at the lower right side of the QT player, and the chapter markers just drop drown so you can choose which one you 'd like to see.
I'd like to create a DVD of exactly that . . . what looks like a QuickTime player where I just click the little play triangle, and it plays. To see chapter markers, just click the little number (chapter marker) at the bottom of the screen - and voila - the chapter marker dropdown comes down. Is there a way in DVD Studio Pro to simple let the quicktime movie look exactly like . . . the quicktime movie? No menus, no special screens - just the QT player window and movie in it !
Can this be done? Thanks very much for considering.
    Larry
    Thanks

Thank you, Eric. On one hand this is "Solved" because you're confirming what I want doesn't exist - so I can put it to bed! On the other hand . . . you were "helpful" because you didn't SOLVE the problem!
    Welcome to life
Thanks for confirming what I believed, though - it's always nice to have other opinions in a decision.

  • Premiere Pro CC can't open audio from QuickTime exports with Animation Codec

Exported a file with format: QuickTime VideoCodec: Animation, with an alpha channel. When I opened the exported file back up in CC it doesn't recognize or play back the audio, but when I opened it in cs6 it worked.

    Hi LeGrandCorbeau,
I had the same issue and solved, here is how:
Opened a new project and instead of choosing presets I selected resolution as 2048*1152 and 25fps which was the same with my ProRes footage and preview file format to I-Frame Only MPEG everything everthing got just fine!
    Good Luck

  • QuickTime compatibility with FCP 4.5

Are there any other people out there using FCP 4.5 on OS 10.3.9 successfully with a version of QuickTime later than 6.5.2? I haven't dared upgrade QuickTime since all kinds of things went wrong and I hade to downgrade QuickTime at great trouble. But perhaps more recent versions have solved these problems. Anyone know?

This is not true. You can run QT 7 with OSX 10.3.9 - HOWEVER - it really is a good idea to keep families of software together.
    This means osx 10.3.9/FCP 4.5/Qt 6.5.2
    or
osx 10.4.9/FCP5.1.2/QT 7.x (whichever is current)
    good luck.

  • Quicktime export from FCP quality bad on PCs

    Settings
Sequence Preset - DV NTSC 48 kHz
Capture Preset - JA Io: SDI A/V 8-bit NTSC to DV 48 kHz
Device Control Preset - AJA Io RS-422 NTSC
    Video Playback - ProID - NTSC US - Component YPbPr SMPTE N10 - 8-bit 422 (720 x 480)
After completing a movie I got to File > Export > Quicktime Movie
    Setting: Current Settings
    Include: Audio and Video
    Markers: All Markers
    Make Movie Self-Contained is checked
After the movie is exported, if i play ithe quicktime on any Mac (I tried it on 3 in the office) the playback quailty is perfect, if I play it on any PC (I have tried it on 3 different ones in my office) the playback quality is very poor any ideas on what could be causing this? I went into the quicktime settings on the pc and enabled high quailty and i still get the same result
    Thanks

the playback quality is very poor<<</div>
Can you be more descriptive? "Poor" in what way? Does it stutter? Keep in mind that the gamma settings on a Windows system are different, so everything will look a little darker/muddier on a Windows machine unless your export settings adjust for that.

  • What version of QuickTime goes with FCP 6.0.3?

I'm running OS X.4.11 and I've gotta be careful how far I take QuickTime for the sake of other applications on my rig. I can't seem to find spec info to tell me what version of QT runs with 6.0.3.

  • After exporting on FCP, quicktime video freezes with perfect audio.

First off, this is my first video I've exported with FCP.
I made the video, edited and everything with no problem. When I exported, however, a 10 second clip would turn every color of the rainbow and flash, but the audio was perfect.
After researching a little bit I used compressor and it somewhat solved my problem. It went from colors, to freezing. Again the audio is fine but the video freezes for the duration of the clip.
    I'm lost at this point.
    Thanks!

Without any information regarding original material codec, seqence settings (codec) and output format (codec), it's just generally useless guesswork.

  • Export 16:9 .move file with FCP

    Hello,
Since May this year I cannot export my FCP 16:9 project to a 16:9 .mov file anymore. The last good one I exported was May 4th, 2009. When I open this QuickTime file with FCP it is widescreen. I exported the same project on May 27th. That .mov file is letterboxed when opening it with FCP.
I never used QuickTime Pro because this program could and can only display my videos letterboxed.
I tried several options to try to export the movie 16:9 (Current Settings, DV PAL 48 kHz Anamorphic).
Someone advised me to use the Cmd-J option in Quicktime, but before May 27th, the export was good and I could use it in iDVD. But since that date it is not possible anymore. When importing the movie directly in iDVD, it is 4:3 format. And after changed it to 1024 with Cmd-J in QuickTime it is halfwidescreen in iDVD (looks like 14:9 i.s.o. 16:9)
How can I get my old good working version of FCP back I had on May, 4th and earlier ?
Or how can I export to QuickTime movie that gives me a 16:9 video again as it was before May 27th ?
    Thanks,
    Hubert

    Hello,
I tried a new 16:9 project. In this new project FCP the video is exported in 16:9 format.
So there must be somewhere a 16:9/4:3 option switch in my old 16:9 project.
Where can this option be set to 16:9 ?
    Thanks,
    Hubert

  • Quicktime Export causing Out of Sync Audio?

I'm trying to export a self contained Quicktime movie from my timeline, and every time I try, the audio ends up being out of sync. What am I doing wrong?
The audio is set to just the defaults, 16 bit, 48khz.
    Sequence settings: HDV1080p30
When I bring the final exported movie back into FCP, it plays out of sync.
Exporting through the Share feature to bluRay resulted in perfect sync audio, so I'm at a loss as to why this isn't working.
    Please help!

Allright, since nobody out there seems to have the answer - I'm going to share what I discovered so that the next person will actually get an answer without having to spend hours and hours finding it in other forums. Here goes:
Problem: Audio plays in sync on the timeline, an export from the timeline through Share to bluRay results in correctly synced audio; but a Quicktime Export with current settings results in a final movie where audio is out of sync with the video.
Solutions: I found two solutions to this problem:
1- When exporting to Quicktime Movie, check "recompress all frames". This solution had mixed reviews, with lots of people saying you should never do this, as it will reduce the quality of your final output; while others said the reduction in quality was not noticeable to the naked eye. I guess you can try it and be the judge.
2- In your sequence settings, change the compression setting to Apple Pro Res. This is the setting I decided to go with, as I'm currently awaiting the 10 hour render.
I did do a quick and dirty test on the ProRes option, where it appeared to work. Since the audio is correctly synced in the beginning of the video and then slowly falls out of sync (obviously the 30p to 29.97 problem), I had to run a test using my entire sequence. If you run a test on a 2 minute sequence, it will appear to be correct, because it is a slow falling out of sync issue - the problems occur later in your project (just fyi). Here is what I did (in case you want to try it on your project):
I created a new sequence and then changed the compression setting from HDV1080-30p to Apple Pro Res 422. I dragged my sequences into this sequence (so they were nested). I unlinked the audio and then selected about a 20 second area from about 3/4 of the way through the project. I sliced this section and then removed all the video before and after (so it would speed up render time and only render black, but I would still be able to see if the audio synced up later - I hope that makes sense - this made my export time only 12 minutes). After it exported, I reimported the movie, found the little 20 second area, and it was correctly synced. So, now I am exporting the whole thing. I sincerely hope this works. I don't have lots of 10 hour blocks just lyin' around!
Since my audio issue was most likely due to the fact that I captured and edited in 1080 30p, I believe it must be a bug in FCP that exports the Quicktime movie in 29.97 regardless of whatever your sequence settings are (believe me, I tried to change it to 1080-30p and it didn't work). That is why I think the Apple Pro Res option works, but it involves a total re-render of your project. This is also why I believe it plays fine in the timeline, because my timeline was set to 30p. Again, I also believe that is why my export to BluRay through Share resulted in correctly synced audio - the bluRay export I believe uses the Pro Res codec (which, by the way, took 19 hours).
Wish Apple would fix this bug.
