Quicktime freezes explorer

Every time I open a directory in explorer with quicktime movies in it (Windows XP) explorer freezes. In task mgr Quicktime is taking 50% of rescources, but can't complete whatever the operatyion is, showing thumbs or whatever...it's only when in thumbnail mode I'm pretty sure.

Select User Library/Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist and com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Quicktime freezes everytime I open it. Windows with previously watched videos keep opening. When I close them, and when the only one I wish to watch is left, it freezes and I have to force quit. A window of that video is then added to the many that open upon starting up next time.

Here's a few things I try when an app misbehaves and crashes.
1. Quit the app and restart it like this: Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it work like normal.
2. If the first suggestion did not work try quitting the app again but instead of restarting it right away, reset your device like this: Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. Ten restart the app and see if it works.
3. If neither of the previous suggestions worked I suggest deleting the app by tapping and holding on the app until it jiggles and displays a Rex X. Tap the X and confirm that you want to delete the app. Then reset your device. After the device has restarted go to the App Store and download Facebook again.
If all these fail you might just have to search for an alternative app until Facebook fixes the problem.

Quicktime Freezes my G4

I had to upgrade my video card from a Radeon 9000 to a Radeon 9200 to function with my new cinema display 23". Now quicktime freezes after about 30 sec. of playing. I can't force quit, mouse doesn't work, Nothing! I have to push power button. Any ideas?

ITunes doesn't open, QuickTime freezes

Well, as I read on the subject, a lot of people are experiencing this issue so I don't expect to hear a quick recommendations, still ... Mine is that I upgraded to the last version of iTunes yesterday. Till that moment both Quicktime and iTunes worked fine. Today I tried to launch Quicktime several times to play my mp3 CD but failed, at the same time it start freezing. And if the first two times I was able to extract the CD, then the last time it was impossible and it still is inside my Mac, meanwhile I even't can't shut down or restart the system, despite two attempts to end all working programs in a forced mode. iTunes won't launch as well. What's going on and have you some ideas what to do? Any your suggestion appreciated greatly.Thanks.
P.S. Forgot to mention I tried to access MP3 playlists through Finder. It doen't respond.

Quicktime internet explorer problems

When i click on an mp3 sample link in internet explorer it opens it in the same window with quicktime.
Is there any way of reverting this back to the way I had it (winamp)?

It sounds like what happened is QuickTime set itself as the default player for MP3 files.
One method to fix it is as follows -
1) Open Windows Explorer
2) Goto the Tools Menu -> Select Folder Options
3) Goto the File Types Tab, Click it
4) Search for the MP3 Extension
5) Once located, click it, and click Change
6) Find WinAmp in the List and Press OK (Or Browse and find where WinAmp.exe is installed)
7) Click close, close any other open windows.
Should be fixed!

Quicktime Freezes When Recording Audio

Quicktime froze one time when trying to record audio, so I restarted my Mac. It still froze, so I tried repairing by using the uninstall program.
It still froze, so I uninstalled it and re-downloaded it. It's still freezing. I'm starting to think it's something in my system files but I don't really know.
The program freezes when I click the record button.
I really need help because it's the only recording program that doesn't slightly slow down my audio, so I really need it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Quicktime freezes

I produce a lot of video, and lately have been experiencing serious and continued problems
with quicktime and final cut freezing on me.
the only changes I've made lately are that I started using Lion several months ago, which
actually seemed to make things faster at first.
also recently installed Screenflow, a screen cap utility, but not sure if the problem
started before or after that. wondering if there could be a problem with scratch disc
space or something like that, although I'm not clear that QT has those kinds of issues.

I believe the bigger issue here is that QT is simply not yet compatible with Vista. I have gone round and round on this; trying multiple patches, and setting changes. I have come to the realization that I will purchase no more video content on iTunes until QT creates an update that solves this playback issue.

Quicktime freezes on start

I have been using Quicktime 7.7 for some time without any real issues. Today I attempted to open it, and it simply freezes; the window opens but the cursor becomes the "busy" hourglass when it is held over it, and the software crashes after a time. It has been recently updated, and this is the first time I have run it since the last one.
Any thoughts?

Quicktime freezes image, sound still runs

I've downloaded some files in mp4 format some HD ones, sizes 848x480x264 and when I press play they work normally but after 3 or 4 minutes the image freezes and sound still running, why is that? Is annoying doing a presentation and having this trouble, does anyone have the same issue or how to make it work again?
Quicktime version is 10.1

After a while I gave up, but is not an isolated problem, some of my friends and people I know have the same issue... I've downloaded MPlayerX from the App Store and now everything works fine... You should try it, it's free

Export QuickTimes freeze and skip while playing back

I’m new to Motion, and growing concerned. I’ve purchased and learned Motion for a specific job. I’ve built some very cool elements with many layers. I’ve grown accustom to the slow performance, skipping etc. while working on the project. That’s ok.
What concerns me is exporting. When exporting Draft or Best versions, most all the time the movies freeze or skip while playing back, either in QuickTime or Final Cut Pro
When exporting I select Export, as QuickTime Movie, using current project settings
I’m using Motion 3.02-HDV 1080-60i project, 10 seconds long
4x 2.5 Ghz G5
5 GB Ram
I would appreciate and advice or tricks to be able to export a decent version of what I’ve built.

I have 30 gigs available on the hardrive. The file exports are usually less than a gig. I have a GeForce 6600 card.
When I select export setting from “current project settings” it uses the Animation codec and plays with freezes and skips. But with in that video that does play well, it plays very clean and clear.
When I change the export to 1080i60 at best quality, I’m guessing it uses the HDV codec? It does play back with out the skips and freezes. But it looks like **** with horizontal lines in titles stripes etc.
Is there a way to make the 1080i60 video playback clean?

Why does Quicktime freeze when opening .movs?

For the past few months, I have experienced intermittent screen "blackouts"; essentially the screen goes black as if the computer has gone into sleep mode (while still working in a given program) but there is nothing I can do but a hard shutdown to exit this state. Recently, both Quicktime and VLC have stopped working properly; I've discovered that Quicktime will open .AVI files, but freezes when opening .mov files. VLC will open neither. Both programs work fine when working with audio files. I have updated my mac's graphic drivers (to the best of my knowledge) and have worked around various preferences (open GL video output in VLC for instance) to no avail. My only remaining theory is a corrupt .mov codec file, or a compounding issue stemming from the initial screen blackouts (which I've discovered could be an actual hardware problem with mac pros sold around 2010..), but I feel it's time to outsource for some new solutions. I'm still running Snow Leopard 10.6.8; 2.66 GHz Intel core i7; 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3; MacBook Pro from 2010. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated, as I've researched for hours and have yet to find a solution or even a potential cause for these issues.

Quicktime freezes and then closes when doing any editing

Each time I try to do editing functions in Quicktime such as copy/paste, or cut, Quicktime will freeze and then close. I have updated to Quicktime 7.6.5 and purchased Pro 7. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you resolve it?

I'm not a regular Windows user but I seem to remember a post that involved third party codec "paks" (bundles of codecs).
When these bundles were installed many times they interfered with QuickTime.
Do you have any third party codecs installed?

HP SimpleSave freezes explorer

I have an HP SimpleSave drive (md1500h) that freezes Windows explorer anytime it is plugged in. It worked fine for a few days and I transferred all my files to it, but now I can't get them back. The drive emits a steady clicking sound while the light flashes (not sure if it always did) and my laptop does read it but I can't open the subfolders before explorer freezes and has to be restarted. It never fully recovers unless I unplug the drive. I've tried it on two different computers (plugged in before AND after startup) with the same result. I just reset my laptop to factory and everything I had is on this drive
Is there anyway I can recover some of it?

Guys I had the same problem on my SimpleSave and traced the issue to swapping it to three computers--a PC Laptop running XP, my laptop running Windows 7 and a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard OS. The problem is the data is available only on the Mac but not on the Windows--but still it cannot download to the hard drive. I called the Philippine HP guys and they told me to reformat the hard disk. I told them "are you crazy? They have no other solution for me. It seems that the length of time on this thread, even HP has no solution. By the way in the Philippine PC Online Forum a lot of HP SimpleSave users have had the same problem. Could it be a product defect?

Quicktime Freezes Computer!

I had to upgrade my video card to work with my new Cinema display and now Quicktime movies invariably freeze the whole system after about 30 sec. of playing. When I say freeze, I mean the mouse has no effect, force quit doesn't work, nothing. I have to push the stop button and restart. I'm running the latest quicktime and have made sure there isn't an older conflicting version. Any ideas?

The freezing seems an idiosyncratic symptom, but I wasn't closely watching video display issue reports with QuickTime 7.6.4 and the few earlier versions, Jeff.
However there were some problems with viewing movies embedded in web pages that were addressed by the recent QuickTime 7.6.5 update:

... so it might be worth checking to see if that PC performs any better (while watching an embedded movie) with a QuickTime 7.6.5 on board.

I've come across an interesting problem when using a QT poster frame in IE7. I have QT 7.1.3 and the most recent IE7 7.0.5700.6, RC1) running on Windows XP Pro.
I'm embedding a poster frame movie in an HTML page. The HREF points to a regular QT movie file (or a Master movie file; it doesn't matter). The poster frame displays properly in IE7. When I click the poster frame to advance to the regular movie, I receive the "question mark" QT icon.
This HTML page works fine in IE6 -- clicking the poster frame loads the regular movie, which then plays fine.
Has anyone at Apple, or any forum member, experienced this problem and perhaps have a solution for it? Thanks very much.
