Quicktime functions disabled because a compatibile version of QT could not be found...

Suddenly I am getting this error on start-up...Quicktime functions disabled because a compatibile version of QT could not be found...what give
? AECS3...I have Quicktime Pro 7.65, I works fine, quicktime works in Premiere and in the Bridge. AE can't even see .mov files....I searched the net, tried some suggestions (putting a .dll in a folder.) and just can't get it working again. Any help?

Are you on Windows?
I've seen one of the apple software updates corrupt my Quicktime install.
Uninstalling it, or iTunes, or both, then redownloading it from apple and re-installing fixed the problem. You can download Quicktime independently of iTunes, but you can't get iTunes without quicktime. Make sure both are gone from Add/Remove programs.
I would give that a shot.

would you like to locate it.i just want to play directly..what i do?  please help  thanks

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

Your password was sent to your emergency email address.  Perhaps you have an email you never use?   I use the free email from my cable TV account as my emergency email.
Your Apple account and cloud account are separate.   You could even have completely different user and password.   Most of us use the same user ID and password, but they are not the same thing, don't mix them up.
If you can't retrieve emergency email, you will have to call apple support.

  • Error messages:  "itunesobjspl/jenetsvc.dll The specified module could not be found."  And Error -2032  "Quicktime failed to initialize."

I initially got the Error -2032 message after downloading the newest version of itunes.  I read a geek blog that said to uninstall Quicktime and I did that a bunch of times.  I also uninstalled and reinstalled itunes repeatedly.  None of this works.  I noticed that the apple website said the requirements for the new quicktime/itunes download included an intel processor and I have a celeron processor, so I wondered if that was the problem, although everything has been running fine up until now, so I don't know.  It also doesn't address the missing .dll file, but I may have accidentally deleted that because I went into the registry to try and unload some Quicktime files when I uninstalled Quicktime.  I did this at the suggestion of the blog, but I may have screwed it up.  Now I need to repair the missing .dll and still try to get itunes running

  • "The iPod ... could not be updated because it could not be found" on Mac?

I just updated to the latest version of QuickTime and was notified that there was a new iPod update but when I try to update it I get the message:
"The iPod "My Name's iPod" could not be updated because it could not be found."
I tried to remove the iPod Software Update folder, but that didn't work.
I also tried to restore the iPod too, but I got the same error message??
I see documents for Windows on this error message about the firmware being corrup bug not for Macs.
    What's going on??

Well, back again... a new iTunes and QuickTime update via Software Update and it got my iTunes in the same state again after the web installation. DOH! I reinstalled both QT and iTunes again to fix the issue again. I can't be the only one that this is happening to so just reiterate the fix works but that I'm beginning not to trust the Software Update versions of the installers for QT and iTunes. There IS a difference and it's a buggy result of not being able to find the iPod afterward. Next time I get the prompt to update I'm going to refuse and then download it from the website.

  • "The picture could not be opened because the original image could not be found."

"The picture XXXXX.jpg could not be opened because the original image could not be found." - I've translated from Portuguese, so it's possible to contain errors on text but I think it is clear to understand.
This error message has appeared on my screen for a thousand times, repeatedly. I've canceled everyone, but still appears, how this error has ocurred for every picture in my library.
I gave up, I'm tired to cancel every window. I don't know what to do. And worst, I'm not able to open Settings or any other command, only "Cancel" or "Search Image", and it opens a Finder window that doesn't give me access to iPhoto Library.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Photoshop Elements 6:   Could not use type tool because the file could not be found

Using Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 well for a while.
Tried to use the Type Tool to overlay text and obtained this error:
Could not use the type tool because the file could not be found
After research, I reset all tools, tried to repair (failed: insert disc one), and then removed/re-installed.  Still have the same problem.
Are the system fonts corrupt or is an Adobe .ini file suspect?
Other reports have suggested using a 3rd-party font manager to inspect/disable fonts.
First wanted to post this error here for feedback/recommendations
Any suggestion on how to recover the Type Tool functionality?

    Adobe Photoshop Elements Repair Workaround
When trying to repair the well-known:  insert disc one, error occurred.  Was able to successfully repair the installation by dragging the entire Adobe Photoshop Elements directory from the original CD-ROM onto a hard drive and executing locally.  Seems it does not like repairing over the CD-ROM but it works correctly if the install source is on disc...

    John,
Yesterday, I decided to completely remove all Adobe products:  PSE 6, Premiere 4, Reader, ActiveX plugins & legacy/old uninstalled product directories that Adobe has left turd-lets around including old Acrobat 3/6 directories.  Used A/D Software to remove all adobe products and then followed your instructions AND the instructions on Adobe's support web site to manually remove these products.
It boiled down to manually removing the entire Adobe directory in Progam Files, "saving" the entire Adobe directory structure in each users (3) Document and Settings in the Application Data and Local Settings (as instructed by you and Adobe) and rebooting.
I also saved the local All Users "configuration" database/cache that contained the Tag and other information to make sure the system was clean
This included following the manual Regit instructions to remove legacy Adobe registry hives.  I deleted all keys for all Adobe product trees that I could locate (following instructions from Adobe).
    Reboot
Scheduled a CHCKDSK on all drives and rebooted
Dragged my complete image library to an archive location and deleted them on the C: drive
    Did a complete system Defrag
Re-installed Adobe and alas still have the same problem with the Type Tool....
The only thing I did not do was selectively remove the "fonts" because various instructions seemed to indicate many are "required" by the windows or other applications and I was not really sure how to identify which ones were safe to remove w/o affecting the core system..  I'll have to re-read these instructions next.
Microsoft has a "Font Validator" tool, but that only checks 1 font at a time and you have to read the "results".  May look for other tools.
Will be able to check the font structure this weekend since it will take some research before I'm comfortable just removing fonts in trial/error mode.  I'll need to make a backup image of my computer before I start this (just in case).
    Thanks for follow-ups too!

  • "song could not be used because original file could not be found..."

My entire music library files cannot be found. When I click on a song I get a popup that says "song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" I can't find the files anywhere, can't open any from my Windows Media player, from Quicktime or anywhere and can't find them on my hard drive. I have about 2300 songs downloaded from my CD collection and a handful of songs purchased on itunes. I have searched for all "mp3" files, no luck, searched by "title/artist", no luck. Yikes!!

I've occasionally had an artist or LP go missing from my library, but to have the entire library disappear is incredible!
Depending upon which version of itunes you are using, you should find your music here: (if it still exists)
User (insert name here)>Music>itunes music>(Folders for each artist)
    or
User (insert name here)>Music>itunes media (I think)>music> (Folders for each artist)
If you find your music folder in either of these places, close the windows, open itunes, from the file menu, select "Add to Library" and navigate to the music folder and select it. Itunes should recreate your library.

  • Quicktime: "Required Compressor Could Not Be Found"

    OK, I have a Powerbook G4, running Mac OS X 10.2.8 (1.33 GHz PowerPC)
    I'm running Quicktime version 6.5.2.
I've just downloaded some quicktime videos I just need to watch on my computer, Quicktime is opening the files with the notice:
You may experience problems playing a video track in "video file" because the required compressor could not be found. Would you like to close the movie or continue?
Whilst playing the files, I have audio, but no picture.
Can someone possibly help me by telling me how I find out what compressor I would need to play these videos and where I can possibly download/install the missing compressors?
I do hope it's an easy fix as that, failing that, does anyone know how I can convert the video files to something usable by my computer without losing audio or picture quality?

So is there no solution for this? I just can't watch the videos because I can't upgrade to a newer version of Quicktime?
I saw in another thread someone having a similar problem to mine and someone suggested flip4mac WMV/Perian software to solve the problem, although both of these are also not compatible with my older operating system. Is there a solution for 10.2?

    Hey xxCreepyFiaxx,
First, I would try the following suggested steps for when you don't see content in iTunes after updating:
    Quit iTunes.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
Use the Finder (Mac) or Windows Explorer (Windows) to go to the iTunes folder that contains the iTunes library files:
    Mac OS X
    /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
Microsoft Windows Windows XP and Windows 2000
    \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Microsoft Windows Windows Vista and Windows 7
    \Users\username\Music\iTunes\
Drag the iTunes Library file from the above location to the Desktop.
Open the Previous iTunes Libraries folder in the iTunes folder.
Locate the file named iTunes Library YYYY-MM-DD where YYYY-MM-DD is the date you upgraded iTunes (Year-Month-Day).
Drag this file to the iTunes folder (the enclosing folder).
Rename this file to iTunes Library.
    Open iTunes.
You should now see your missing content in iTunes.

  • The TV show could not be used because the original file could not be found

"The TV show “Blah-blah ep.23” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
I know this problem is listed (and unanswered) from quite a few users in the forums for song files, but I haven’t found any that mention TV shows. To add to the heap, and help emphasize to iTunes that this is a major bug in need of fixing, here is my version of this problem.
I have a variety of season passes to TV shows that normally download on almost a daily basis (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, for example). About once every four or five downloads iTunes decides to silently delete a file. No warning given, no chance to stop it, just gone. ITunes downloads the file (clearly seen in the process in the Downloads part of the Store menu) and then lists the file under its correct menu in the TV Shows Library section (with the correct amount of MB listed for the file). I usually watch the episode right after I download it (with no problems), but of course I have left episodes unwatched when I shut iTunes down.
On the next startup of iTunes, I go in to watch an old episode again or click on an unwatched episode, but it isn’t there anymore and the old “would you like to locate it?” message pops up. After being through this at least a dozen times in the last year, I know there is no point in looking for the file because it’s gone. The only choice is to go into iTunes support and ask them to reset the download, which they’ve always done without question, and then I have to download the file all over again. This is a huge hassle and all the more frustrating because it happens so irregularly.
I’ve tried to find answers in these discussion forums, but have been unable to see any reasonable solution and wish to add to the voices of annoyed paying customers in the hope something will be done. If anyone is interested, the bizarre and time consuming workaround I’ve had to employ is:
    1. As soon as any of my TV shows are downloaded, I stop whatever I’m doing to go grab the file out of iTunes’ folder and move it to a location where iTunes can’t get its grubby little silent deleting hands on it.
    2. On the next shutdown-startup cycle, I can then go back and move the file back into its correct location in the iTunes TV Shows subfolders and I’ll never have a problem again with THAT particular file being deleted.
Of course, the problem with this solution is that it’s painfully annoying to have to do it every time. I get lazy, iTunes seems to get its evil deleting ways under control and downloads all seem to work again. That is, until they don’t and the issue mysteriously returns with files being picked off anew and I have to return to these forums in the hope of finally finding out why this is happening. After more than a year and two or three iTunes version updates, it’s the problem that just won’t die.
    Anyone?

Yes, only TV shows. I've never had a random silent delete of a song file. I also considered that Windows might be blocking the file to save space, but with no limitations set in the control panel that isn't the problem either. In fact, I've only had this problem with season pass downloads. It's never happened with a single download of a video or TV episode.
Tonight, when I downloaded my Daily Show episode, I really kept tabs on what the heck iTunes is up to during the process. As many know, iTunes creates a folder called Downloads during the download process. Inside that folder, a video file gets downloaded as “download.m4v” along with another Qtime info file. When the download is complete, iTunes is supposed to use the info file to identify and tag the download.m4v file and then move it over into its correct artist subfolder with the correct file name.
The problem, I discovered tonight in watching this process, is that iTunes (for mysterious reasons) does not do the relabel/move step with some of the downloads and leaves the files in situ as download.m4v in the download file. Additionally, in the iTunes software you can click on the file (correctly labeled and appearing, as I said in the first post, under the correct TV show banner) and watch it one time. However, after shutting down and restarting (and this is where the evil happens) iTunes will delete all files in the Download subfolder as part of a cleanup process. I suppose because it assumes that those files were correctly relabeled and copied into the corresponding TV show folders. So, there is the reason for the loss of downloaded video files (in my case).
There appears to be no way of knowing, from within iTunes, when the file has been correctly copied over to its corresponding folder and when it hasn’t and remains in the Bermuda Download Folder of Death. Again, I have to go into that folder each time (before shutting iTunes down) to make sure the move took place. If it didn’t, then I have to make a copy of the download file and place it outside that folder.
Finally, since this only happens occasionally, I’m wondering if it doesn’t have something to do with the way the info file is being tagged and labeled prior to being made available to download. However, if that were the case then the problem would be happening to lots of users and I would have expected a lot more complaints in the forums.
By the way, I’m not big on fidgeting with any of iTunes folders or settings. It hasn’t been the case where the downloads were fine, I made some goofy change to the folder structure and then it doesn’t work. I haven’t fiddled with the settings for months, but all of the sudden this issue starts to appear and can just as easily disappear in the following week’s downloads.
    Still seeking answers or advice.
    Cheers.

I just spent several hours dealing with this when switching to a new PC. It was extremely frustrating as I knew my files were on my external HD but no matter how many times I copied my old iTunes folder over the files were still missing...because dummy me had forgotten to "unhide folders" on my new PC and my old files were actually stored in a hidden folder created long long ago.
This is how I did it on Windows 7 with iTunes 10
    1. Look in iTunes Advanced Preferences to see where iTunes is saving files. (Edit, Preferences, Advanced)
         Example: C:/Users/Woildbill/My Music/iTunes/Music
    2. Ensure you are able to see hidden files - Control Panel, Folder Option, View, Show Hidden Files
    3. Use Your Computer's Search Function to Locate the Missing File (Start, Search, type name of song - I started my search in "My Music" folder but be sure to expand to entire Computer if not found right away)
    4. In Search Results, right-click found folder and select properties. This will tell you where the file is actually stored.
    5. Use Windows Explorer (right-click start) to navigate to the location of the file. It is likley your other missing files are in the same location.
    6. In Windows Explorer, copy the newly located files to the iTumes location from Step 1 and everything should work again.
    Hope this helps!
