Quicktime H.264 1024x576 problems

I have been given a file to work with which looks to be an H.264 compressed 1024x576. When I drop the video into a sequence and accept the request to change settings the video works ok. I have a small change to make (adding a couple of web screen grabs) When I add these files over the original video there are some frames played out after the edit which are from before the edit. They do not appear when you look frame by frame but only on playback. Also, when I export quicktime movie for use in compressor the playback is disrupted where I have added screenshots. Is a simple solution? I have looked through threads.

Hi,
Convert the clip from H.264 to Quicktime DV and your dream to get rid of this glitch will become true.
The reason for this is that H.264 is not an editing but delivery codec and FCP does not behave well with delivery codecs in the timeline.
You can convert buy using QT, Compressor or [MPEGstreamclip|http://www.squared5.com>

I turned on my mac this morning after using Qt all day yesterday with no problems
    I get this message
The document “BOULET PEANUT - OFF LINE 3-QuickTime H.264.mov” could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-101)
Also QT will not play the audio of the files
    I'm on a mac pro, 10.7.4
    Everything updated
Any know whats up and can help solve this, it seems to be a software related problem to QT 7 or X

Exactly the same by my iMac.
"The document ... could not be opened. An error occurred (-101)"
I can play the same video with VLC player but not with QuickTime.
QuickTime and iTune can not play anything at all.
VLC Player however can play all medias without any problem.
    All my apps are uptodate.
    What could be the problem?

  • Share to quicktime H.264 not rendering sequence. It fails every time.

    Hi there,
I have a new sony HDR-CX700 camcorder. I imported the film in apple ProRes 422. When I dragged the footage in sequence, it said would you like to use footage format in sequence, I said yes. So I edited many sequences like this and now when I hit my share button to quicktime H.264, it says render time is about 2 hours (on a 5 min long film) and at the end of two hours, it says sharing failed. Does anyone know how I can solve this problem and export all my footage to quicktime H.264 for final viewing on iTunes, iPads, and iPhones?
Also, my final cut pro version is 7.0.3 Please let me know what I can do.
    Thank you,
    Caleb

What are your sequence and footage settings?
Also, don't share... instead export a qt movie (command-e) with current settings, "self-contained" not selected. Import that into compressor and apply the settings there.
The plus side to this, you can use FCP while compressor is chugging away.
If the export takes a very long time and your movie is rendered... it could be that your footage settings don't match your sequence settings...

  • AME fails to export as Quicktime H.264 each time

    Hello all,
    I'm having a problem.
I'm trying to export a project out of Premiere CS4, as Quicktime H.264.
Every single time that I try to export it, it seems to go though 99% of the process smoothly, yet on the last few seconds AME just stops and refuses to complete it (and can stand like that for hours). When I try to cancel the process AME freezes completely and force quitting it is the only solution.
I tried searching the forums but I couldn't find anything like this. Is there anything that I'm missing/doing wrong? A known issue? etc.
Using OS X 10.5.5 with all updates. Premiere/AME CS4 with all updates also installed.

    Please provide
these details to help us help you.
    Cheers

  • Can't export Quicktime H.264 from AE CS4

Whenever I try to set the export module to Quicktime H.264 I immediately get the error/message, "For reliable output with H.264 compression, please choose it directly from the Output Module Format menu instead of via Quicktime."
If you try ro render, you only get an error and there is no render.
What could be going wrong? Is a plugin not working? The only thing I can think of is I updated to Quicktime 7.6 a few days ago. Anyone else experienced this problem?

I'm encoding at 640x360. I usually use profile level 4.1, but this is only going to be directed towards software not hardware. There are work arounds to this, lots of them. Like encoding using Quicktime Animation codec and then re-encoding to Quicktime H.264 out of PP CS4, Sorenson Squeeze, or even Quicktime itself. All will work well. But the thing is that a person shouldn't have to go through a two-step work around like this. You want to maintain quality but Animation files are relatively huge. (By the way, its funny how PP CS4 has no problem exporting QT H.264).
How would I use Adobe Media encoder directly? Just drop the project from AE into the queue?

  • Importing a Quicktime H.264 movie into FCP and DVD SP

    Hi,
I am curious why when I import a Quicktime H.264.MOV file into FCP it always makes me render (just the audio) when I place it on the timeline. Also when I try to import it into DVDSP it says that it is an incompatible file.
I know its an odd question, so don't ask me why I am doing it backwards.
Thanks to anyone that can help!
    Gary

    Hi David,
Thanks for your help. These projects are legal video stuff and I usually pause every hour and a half for about 10 minutes. (so I can put each segment on separate DVDs) I am feeding a video signal into a stand alone DVD writer AND into my Mac (I need to make a redundant recordings in case anything goes wrong). The problem with my stand alone DVD writer is to put in accurate chapter markers is a pain. Also it has a rather bland DVD setup menu which looks poor. So basically I am trying to take a video source from my camera and have it do the compression on the fly. I want to write my DVD in DVDSP because it has a ton of formatting options, and chapter markers are much easier to place.
Basically I am looking for the absolute quickest way to write a DVD without having to bring it into Compressor.
    Thanks again for your time!

  • Exporting to web size Quicktime video from FCP Problems

I have run into a problem...
A few weeks ago and checked my Software Update and noticed that their was a newer version of Quicktime, so I installed the update and now have the newest version of Quicktime. Every since then, when exporting to Quicktime using the Export - Using Quicktime Coversion commands. The Use settings have changed. They are now...
    LAN/Intranet
    Broadband - High
    Broadband - Medium
    Broadband - Low
    Dial Up
    Dial Up - Audio Only
    Streaming - Medium
    Streaming - Low
These are the choices I have now after updating my Quicktime. They have changed since before. With the older version of Quicktime, I used to be able to select the highest quality option, LAN and get a very good picture and a decent file size. For example, a 2 minute 16 second video was 16.5 MB.
Now when I go to export using the LAN setting, it takes forever and always seems to start at 7% completed, saving that less than a minute until completion, then it slowly savs, 2 minutes until completion, 4 minutes etc. until it says 45 minutes.
Something is wrong and I don't know what. Please help.
    Thanks

Well I did a search of the forums and found this infomation...that Compressing as H.264 means that only people with Quicktime 7 can view the movie. I checked my compression settings and indeed the default compression setting I was exporting with was H.264.
What was the compression I had before I upgraded to Quicktime 7? I think if I switch my compreesion to this from H.264 my problems could be solved.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Block noise in CC2014 Adobe Media Encoder Quicktime H.264 Export

I would love some input from the community here. Perhaps someone else is having a similar issue.
I've been wanting to make a full switch from CS6 to CC2014, but I am experiencing a host of issues that I don't experience in CS6. For one, when I export my Canon 5DMK3 DSLR timeline using Quicktime (H.264), I get an abrasive global noise all over my rendered video as if I was using a low data rate. I use the same settings in CS6 and experience no issues.
Since YouTube compression hides these artifacts, so please download and view original file: Dropbox - RenderArtifactsQuicktimeH264.mp4
    Format: Quicktime
    Video Codec: H.264
    Quality: 100
    23.976fps
    progressive
    Use Max Render Quality
    Render at Maximum Depth
    10,000 kbps
    What I've tried:
    1) exporting at 720p and 1080p
    2) another codec (H.264 mp4 exports are clean)
    3) all combinations of the "Use Max Render Quality" and "Render at Maximum Depth" settings
    4) exporting straight from Premiere
    5) rendering with and without effects (Magic Bullet Looks, sharpening)
    6) GPU (CUDA) enabled and software only (on project and on Adobe Media Encoder)
    Custom Desktop Specs:
    Intel i7-3960X @ 3.3GHz
    32GB RAM
GTX 780 Ti 3GB (and tested Adobe certified regular GTX 780 3GB)
GPU Driver: 340.52 (up to date)
    Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
    SSD OS drive
    WEstern Digital 2TB data drive
    SSD adobe cache drive
I'm at a complete loss. What else could be contributing to this?

    Hi Mark,
I did install the CC 2014.0.1 update and the issue remained. I had a colleague tell me that he experiences the same issue for Format= Quicktime, Codec= h.264 when he has the "limit data rate" option checked with a value. When I unchecked the limit data rate (of my standard 10,000 kbps 720p preset) I got a clean render devoid of the previously mentioned artifacts. However, it defaulted to a 70,000 kbps data rate which of course is higher than I'd like/need. For now I guess I'll be exporting .mp4 h.264, but I'm still curious why the limit data rate doesn't behave like it did in CS6.

  • I get 120 hours render time on quicktime h.264 usualy setting

    My Computer :
Processor : Radeon HD graphics APU A10-5745M 2.10GHz
    Ram installed : 16 Go ( 15.52 usable , 12go on AAE CC )
    Graphic cards :  R7 m260 and HD 8610G
My project : 10 min long , 3 audio spectrum with glow and a '' bass shake fx on all of them ''
Usual render time for 1 audio spectrum 5 min long song and bass shake FX = 30 min  , Same setting
My setting Quicktime H.264 , Lossless sound , Best quality .
I try to render and i alway get between 80 and 120 hours ... make no sense , it should be max an hour . theres 20k frames to be rendered .
Now when i installed media encoder it does not help it and still is Sooooooo long to render .... im not sure how to fix this without losing quality

It seems to be helping quite a bit , but the render is still up at like 41 hours so .... i don't understand ? does having multiple audio spectrum and a bass shake effect on all of them for 11 minute increase the render time by so much ? my first video was quite fast even on h.264  ?  it doesnt look that fancy to me lol

  • Quicktime H.264 1080/50p workflow

My camera has has been given an upgrade to 1080/50p (Quicktime H.264). Just wanted to check best workflow for editing in FCP7.
I converted to Apple Pro Res 422 using compressor 3 and then imported into FCP7. I dropped into a sequence and chose the option to change sequence settings to match clip.

Yes this is what I did - just wanted to confirm this as best practise. I had a test clip of about 1 to 2 mins which, as you say, does not work in Final Cut. I then used Compressor which took about 15 mins to convert to ProRes 422 - so seems like it could be a fairly lengthy process.
I have Mpeg Streamclip but haven't used this to convert this file type yet.

  • HD Export to Quicktime H.264 quits after approx. 14 minutes

How can I enable Quicktime h.264 to accept video exported from my Avid editor longer than around 14 minutes ?  The HD 720p video sequence is 40 minutes in length. Quicktime quits at around 14 minutes. Thanks.

Well I didn't end up doing that, since it was going to be so time
    consuming
Well, proper conversion will be time consuming. That is unavoidable. I showed you a bunch of options that can drastically speed it up, but it is always a tradeoff of time vs. quality. There is no "perfect" method of doing these conversions.
and my client wanted a compressed format anyway. So I
thought it would save time to convert straight from the PAL QT file to
h.264, as well as being higher quality.
Yes, but by converting it "straight" to h.264, you will be using the crappier deinterlacing of AME or ProCoder, thus lowering the perceived quality regardless of output format. Also: if you use a lossless or uncompressed AVI intermediary, there will be no loss of quality.
I don't have an uncompressed NTSC Quicktime file. Is there a way to do that?
Create your lossless AVI file using some variation of the process I showed you before
    Open Adobe Media Encoder
Drag the AVI file into Media Encoder's Queue
Create a custom QuickTime setting (such as 1920x1080, 29.97 fps, no compression)

  • Quicktime H.264 with chapter markers

I tried encoding a DV25 sequence with Encore/chapter markers to a Quicktime H.264 movie. Upon playback and checking through markers on Quicktime X, the movie keeps jumping to the end of the file rather than at the marker point. Anyone know why this is, and how to remedy it?

The markers actually show up when I playback on Quicktime X. I tried Make Movie again from Premiere to a Quicktime movie with DV25 codec (HUGE file size since it's not H.264), and the markers actually work right. What gives?

  • Share - iphone VS share - quicktime H.264

CONFUSED....ok, so i encoded a video for iphone and ipad and it was like 300 megs. now i encoded one for quicktime h.264 and it is like half the size, AND works on my iphone....what is the point of the iphone / ipad template if the quicktime h.264 is half the size and also works on mobile devices?

Then use that if you think the quality is the same. The additional bits are there to support quality. If your material doesn't have it to begin with or you don't have the eyes to see it, they are certainly extraneous.

  • Adobe Media Encoder: Quicktime H.264 Problem

I'm trying to output my video using QT H.264, and whenever it processes through the media encoder, it gets stuck with the status "encoding", with the elapsed queue time frozen at about :13 seconds.
I've tried using different settings, but I get the same issue every time.
When I encode using a different QT codec (DV/DVCPRO- NTSC, etc.), it works no problem.
My machine is dual-quad with 16GB of memory, so I'm pretty sure it's not my system. The video is only a couple minutes long, so there's not a whole lot of video to process.
Does anyone know a work around to this problem?
    Thanks,
    Anders

    Anders,
I have to make sure we are talking about the same thing. In the Effects Control Panel, you twirled open the Opacity intrinsic effect and clicked on the stopwatch to create a keyframe, correct?
I ask this because you can also adjust the Opacity by using the clip's opacity "rubber band" in the timeline, but no keyframes get added there unless you use the Pen tool or a modifier key in combination with the selection tool.
For the workaround to fix the issue, a keyframe has to be created.
    -Jeff
    PS - You're welcome. :)
