Quicktime, importing, exporting

I recently upgraded my system and re-installed Premiere Pro CS6, moved my video hard drives over and opened the working files I had started on my old system. On my first install I had a codec error, which I resolved (https://forums.adobe.com/message/5020132) but now it will not read, import the video portion or give me an option to export in QuickTime.
Any ideas or something I missed?
Thank you!

John,
I just re-installed and activated again, hoping that was the case. However it still will not let me import certain videos files, read the video portion of others already in my timeline or export in QuickTime. Could I be missing a plug in I am not considering? These files worked fine on my previous computer. Thanks for the idea and the link.

I always have QT Pro installed (separately installed) on my systems so I never know it thats a requirement or a  factor in any QT issues of this nature or not.
I install it and dont have issues.

  • Import/export XAVC 4k content to PP7CC and so on

    1) How to import/export Sony XAVC 4k content ? There are sequence-presets for ARRI and RED but non for XAVC 10bit 4:2:2.
    2) How to change the frame-numbering to e.g. 8 digits whit JPEG or DPX export? 4 Digits = 3'20" movie-lenght only!
    3) DNxHD Export is availlable. Why not also ProRes on Mac sytems?
    4) How to sort clips in the icon-view up or down in the bin-window?

    Hi Trent,
thanks a lot for your answers.
It seams, 4) was not clearly described. My F55 generates clips with names "Clip0000" to "Clipnnnn". In the list view, they are sorted  starting with 0000, but in the icon-view, there is a unlogical muddle. Of course I can sort them individualy by drag and drop but with some hundred clips???  FCP even in Rev.1 had a sort by name up/down command. Is that so difficult to implement also in PPCC?
    3) I use 10.8.4 but after Media > Export > Format, e.g. DNxHD is listed but not ProRes, even not in the Quicktime-Presets. Later in the Video-Codec window, ProRes is finally available. Why that hidden?
    1) Yes, I know this procedure but when I check the sequence attributes, the report is "AVC unlimited" what ever this means but no answer, if it's 10bit 422 as XAVC or regular 8bit 4:2:0 H264.
With other words, XAVC is not very well implemented in PP CC.

  • No More DigiCam Video Import/Export in QT or iMovie after 7.0.4 Update

I have been taking digital video clips from my Canon PowerShot S2 IS (they are JPEG Video compressed .AVI QuickTime files) and importing them into iMovie to make small video projects, and up until today (when I upgraded to QT 7.0.4), everything worked perfectly. Now, I cannot even get QuickTime to export the video.
In iMovie, I drag a clip into the 'Clips' pane, and I get the error "Error During Input. The file could not be imported: Unknown Error."
In QuickTime, I get the error "Failed (-2126)" if I try exporting the movie in any format whatsoever (it plays fine, though...).
I'm going to try downgrading to QT 7.0.1, then re-upgrading to 7.0.3, but I'm getting iLife '06 in a few days, and I don't want to have to hold off on uninstalling it. Is there something I'm missing?
[EDIT: I tried with 7.0.1, and no dice (in iMovie or QuickTime).]
[EDIT 2: After doing a little more research, I noticed Flip4Mac was causing some other people problems, so I uninstalled it. Now I have no problems. I am re-upgrading to 7.0.4, and I assume I'll have no problems.]

I have the same prob. I also read a lot about uninstalling Flip4Mac, but I don't know hot to uninstall Flip4Mac? Can somebody help me?

  • Strange quicktime codec export behavior

I was trying to make a movie from an image sequence using "export quicktime movie" today and had some odd results. The goal was to get the best quality for the least file size, and I needed alot of compression, so I tried many combinations of codecs and quality settings. The first oddity, was that the file size of the movie using "least" quality was higher than that of "low" quality for several codecs, including H264, MPEG and Sorensen 3. The second oddity was that if I scaled the movie during the export, I got a file that was the same size as the unscaled movie. If I scaled first in another program (ImageJ) and then made the movie, it was smaller than the unscaled. Comments?
    BTW- the winner was Sorensen-3-low

Not sure what you mean. The codec used and quality setting have dramatic effects on the final file size. Just try rendering a movie with different quality settings and you will see the difference. I have done this many times and know it is true. I just never went to "least" before.
Some codecs have independent controls to restrict the data rates and set "quality" (i.e., reiteration of certain processes) while In others, the data rate may be incorporated into the "quality" control. The Apple Animation codec, for instance will increase the video data rate in proportion with increases in the "quality" setting but H.264 has independent/active control settings for each.
In more concrete terms, think of the data rate as the speed of a traveling car, the duration of your clip as the time a car travels, and the file size as the total distance traveled by the car. It is easy to see that a car traveling 100 mph for 4 hours covers a total distance of 400 miles while a car traveling at 50 mph only covers 200 miles. In a similar manner a clip having a total average data rate of 4.0 Mbps is twice as large as the same clip having a total average data rate of only 2.0 Mbps. Thus, if you really want to compare the differences in your file storage sizes, compare their their total average data rates and not their quality settings.
I scaled the movie from about 600x400 to 400x200.
Still not sure if you are referring to a change in the display dimensions or a change to the encoding matrix. This is important since it affects how different devices/applications deal with the content. Any clip can be re-scaled independent of the the encoded resolution. I.e., you can simple grab the lower right-hand corner of a QT player and drag it to change the clip's display dimensions. (Alternatively, you can change the properties window using QT 7 Pro). However, this action does not change the "encoded" resolution of the clip even if the scale change is saved in the file. On the other hand, if you exported or transcoded the modified file to video compression formats not having a "standardized" encode data matrix (e.g., like NTSC MPEG-2 or DV content has), then both the default scale and encode matrix are changed.
In the first case, where a file is simple rescaled, QT 7 would open with the display defaulted to the "Current Size" dimensions stored in the file and, if converted to a different video compression format, it would use the "Current Size" to set the target dimensions for the conversion. QT X, on the other hand, would not. It would ignore the "Current Size" setting and use the encoded dimensions for a "save" conversion.
To complicate matters, some conversion processes are device aware and may additionally restrict export/conversion dimensions. For instance, let's say I have a 640x360 file encoded at 29.97/30 fps. If I scale it to 1280x720 and then export the resulting file to the QT TV preset, I will end up with 960x540 encoded/display file. But, If I do the same thing to a 640x360 23.976 fps file, I would end up with a 1280x720 encoded/display file.
BTW: you do realize you are changing the 3:2 aspect ratio of the 600x400 file to 2:1 in the 400x200 file. (Or are we also taking about "cropping" as part of your work flow?)
In one case, I scaled the original data with ImageJ and then used the reduced size image sequence in Quicktime to export a movie... If I scaled first in another program (ImageJ) and then made the movie, it was smaller than the unscaled.
This is what I would normally expect in QT 7 Pro if the "scaled" clip has a changed "Current Size."
The second oddity was that if I scaled the movie during the export, I got a file that was the same size as the unscaled movie... In the other, I imported the full sized images sequence into Quicktime and set the smaller size with the size dialog during movie export.
You would have to provide more detailed information regarding your work flow here -- i.e., specific QT Player and/or target compressor and size settings if both options were available in your work flow.

  • Quicktime only exports audio in Lion

I have just upgraded to Lion and I can no longer get Quicktime to export video. When I select Export>Format>480p (for example) only the audio will export. What's goign on? Is there a fix for this?

    What version are you using?
I was using QT 7 Pro version 7.6.6 as indicated by the ability to select different video compression formats as stated above.
As far as I know, there is only one QuickTime version available for OS X Lion, Version 10.1. It is the program that came with the new OS X Lion.
If you had QT 7 Pro installed on your Snow Leopard system at the time it was upgraded to Lion, then it would still be there after the upgrade. In addition, users can install the QT 7 Player to Lion after upgrading and key it for QT 7 Pro use if they so desire.
I was capable of exporting video and sound in Snow Leopard. Here is the flow process: In OS X Lion, open a .mov file. Go to File then Export. At the bottom of the dialog box it says Format. You can choose 480p, 720p, 1080p, then a line, then iPod..., Ipad..., Mac & PC, then a line, then Audio Only. These are the presets.
You still should be able to do so. I just ran four additional tests using four of the QT X "presets" at random. All successfully created an H.264/AAC file with playing video.
I'm not sure you are using the same version of QuickTime or the same OS if you do not see these things. At any rate, no matter the selection I choose, the only output I receive is an audio file. I think there is a bug in the new QuickTime.
I wasn't. That is why I asked which you were using so I could try and duplicate your work flow. Since I have no problem converting files, it does not sound like a bug—rather a bad software install or a conflict between the QT Player X and some third-party app you have installed on your system which I don't. However, you still have not indicated what video compression format was used in the source file. WMV for instance would be playback compatible if you had the free Flip4Mac player codec component installed but not conversion compatible without paying a minimum of $29 for the WMV "import" codec.

  • Import/export codecs/settings for FCE with HMC40 footage?(lengthy post)

    Hi all,
I am pretty new to video editing in FCE, and brand new to 'tapeless workflow' (just bought a Panasonic HMC40)
so am not sure of all the technical protocol yet.
What is AVCHD as opposed to DV or HDV?
    What is meant by 'transcoded'?
For the following series of questions, my final usage will be for the web, flash video (.flv file as converted in Adobe Media Converter from the quicktime file exported from FCE, unless there is a method to export directly to a flash video file from FCE i.e. what is the FLC format?) streaming from my server and played with a flash player (.swf file)
Obviously, I would like to achieve the best quality possible while still maintaining a fast streaming time
here is an example of the above: Road Runner Akron Marathon
I see that if I go to menu-->final cut express-->easy setup I get a window with default import settings as in figure 1 below
    figure 1
Which import format is best for footage from the HMC40, shooting at 108024p? 108030p? see figure 2 below
    figure 2
Which import frame rate is best for footage from the HMC40, shooting at 108024p? 108030p? see figure 3 below
(don't understand the odd frame rate choices of 25 and 29.97)
    figure 3
The default import codec is DV-NTSC as seen in the popup menu in figure 4 below
    figure 4
which of the above import codecs would you recommend for footage from the HMC40 if I am shooting in 108024p? 108030p?
I am using the 'log and import' option for importing footage directly into projects from the SDHC card.
Does the check box option under the 'import settings' tab mean that audio/video will be compressed
with the import codec specified during 'import setup'? see figure 5 below
    figure 5
When exporting from FCE with quicktime conversion, is it best to use
the same type of codec as the import codec? see fig 6 below
    figure 6
Thanks very much for any advice. Much appreciated.

Wow! A huge amount of questions, almost all of which are available using search engines. The forum isn't really designed to give you a detailed instruction on digital video or on basics of how to use the application.
AVCHD is a highly compressed MPEG-4 based HD format. DV is a standard definition format. HDV is an MPEG-2 based HD format.
FCE does not encode Flash. You need third party software.
24p is not supported in FCE.
If you're shooting HD you should select HD.
25fps is for PAL based formats. 29.97fps is for North American based video standard. 24fps is a film frame rate. Most video cameras do not shoot 24fps, but 24fps recorded at 29.97 with pulldown. If your camera shoots true 24fps, it is not supported in FCE.
What you select depends on exactly what you shot. Read the camera manual carefully for the different options of frame size. Native 24p is not supported in FCE. 30p can be ingested using a 1080i60 preset.
How you export depends of where you're trying to get to. If you're going to third party encoding software you should export to QuickTime Movie.

  • Questions on Subviews and Import/Export in Data Modeler v3 EA1.

I have a few questions about the capabilities of Data Modeler v3 EA1:
    1) Is it possible to rename subviews? Would like more meaningful names then Relational_x - Subview_x.
    2) Is it possible to save documents at subview level?
    3) Is it possible to import/export subsets of data?
    4) Having problems importing Erwin 7 .xml file, is there known problems with this import?
    Judy

    Hi Judy,
    1) To rename a subview just right click on it in the browser tree and select "Properties". In the properties dialog change the name and click OK button.
    2) You can save a subview as new Data Modeler design - from the File menu select Export -> To Data Modeling Design. In the newly opened dialog select the subview you want to export and click OK button.
    3) After saving a subview as new design (see answer #2) it can be imported in some other design (File -> Import -> Data Modeler Design).
    4) What kind of problems do you have with import of Erwin 7.* xml file?

  • Getting an error while importing/exporting the universe from my BO Designer

    Hi,
I am facing a issue while importing/exporting the universe from my BO Designer to the Server. The error is mentioned below.
'File Repository Server Input is down'
Once I click the OK button on this error message, it displays  the message
       'Could not import the Universe'.
I tried the check the status of the File Repository Server (Ouput and Input) and also the of the Root Directory on the  Physical Server and also my machine. They all have read-write access.
Installed Version of the Universe Designer Client: Business Object XI Release 2 SP3
Installed Version of the BO Enterprise Server: Business Object XI Release 2 SP2
Can you please help me to resolve the issue

    Hi,
The step you have mentioned may not be applicable to my issue as one of my colleagues can import/export the universe from the same server
The second thing is that a DB2 Client v9 is installed on both mine and my colleagues system. The Designer software can recognise the DB2 drivers on his system but it cannot recognise the same drivers on my system.I even checked the versions of the BO software installed on his and my system and they are same.
The only difference is that his machine is a Windows XP Machine and mine is a Network Desktop.
Will any of the above two things will affect the operation of the BO Designer.

  • Attunity connectors for Oracle in Import Export Wizard in SQL Server 2008 R2

Is there a way we can see the Attunity connectors drivers in the Import/Export Wizard (64 bit) for SQL Server 2008 R2?
Although I made it work for SSIS, I would need these drivers in the Import/Export wizard so as to automate it for numerous number of tables which I want to migrate.
Can the Attunity connectors for Oracle be used in the Import/Export wizard? If so please let me know.
    Regards,
    Ashutosh.
    Ashutosh.

I have 100 tables to migrate. Creating a data flow for each table is tedious and that's why I was looking out for a way to do it through import export wizard so that I don't have to create a separate data source and destination for each table in the Data
    flow Task.
Is there a way to loop through all tables and transfer data in SSIS without having multiple sources and destinations created for each table? This also involves a bit of transformation as well.

  • IMPORT/EXPORT statement in Background Mode

    Hey dudes,
I am facing a problem in my coding. I am dealing with coding in several events in IS-U, transaction FPY1.
However, it's not so important ya. Now I am written some code on IMPORT and EXPORT some parameters between 2 program code. It's work very fine only in 'DEBUG MODE', but when it's running not debug mode (Is BACKGROUND MODE), coz it's massive run program.
I suspect it's because of the background job. Does background job using ABAP Memory? IMPORT/EXPORT is only for dialog work process, not background work process?? I have a lot of question mark on my head now..
Hope anyone facing dis issue before can help.
    Cheers,
    Isaac.

Are you trying to pass data via EXPORT/IMPORT between two programs that are both running in background, or from an online session to a background process?... i.e. what are the two lots of program code that you are wanting to pass parameters between?
It would be fine for a background program to "export" data to a memory ID, then for the same batch program to submit another program that does the "import" from the same memory ID... but this method won't work for an online user doing an "export" and a batch job doing an "import" -> for this to work, you would need to persist the parameters so that the batch job can retrieve them.
If you can explain the scenario a bit more, will try to offer more help...

  • Import & Export of Internal table

    Hello All,
In my requirement I need to call the MB5B program RM07MLBD. I used the code like this.
    SUBMIT rm07mlbd AND RETURN
                WITH matnr   IN  so_matnr
                WITH werks   IN  so_werks
                WITH datum   IN  so_budat.
Now from the RM07MLBD program I need the get the values of the table * g_t_totals_flat * to my zprogram.
Is it possible to import & export the Internal table from one program to other.
    Regards,
    Anil.

    Hi,
You can export the internal table ot memory id and can access the (Import) in the called program.
Consider this small code from ABAPDOCU.
DATA text1(10) TYPE c VALUE 'Exporting'.
DATA: itab TYPE TABLE OF sbook,
          wa_itab LIKE LINE OF itab.
    DO 5 TIMES.
      wa_itab-bookid = 100 + sy-index.
      APPEND wa_itab TO itab.
    ENDDO.
    EXPORT text1
           text2 = 'Literal'
      TO MEMORY ID 'text'.
    EXPORT itab
      TO MEMORY ID 'table'.

  • ABAP command IMPORT/EXPORT

    Hi!
I would like to know whats the replacement for the IMPORT and export commands used in 4.7c  in ECC6. Can anyone tell me whats the replacement commands for import and export command that is used in abap/4 4.7c for ECC6.
    Thanks

    Hi Aarav,
there is nothing like replacement for import/export.there is another statements to transferdata which are Set/Get.
when you are working with sap you have sessions.so in between session if you want to transfer data then you will use set/get parameters.import/export are used within the session.means you opened se38 and written a program and then go back to se38 initial screen and entered another program name and in that program you want the data which is in the previous program you have written in the se38 in same session.
    reward points if helpful.

can i write a plug in c#(or any other language) for import/export  a screen of the adobe illustrator cs6 in html (or any other format) if document of web type.

If I understand you correctly, yes, you could write a plugin that imported an HTML file into Illustrator. You could also write one that exported to HTML. I'm not sure how easy it would be, and you won't find any HTML parsing help in the Illustrator SDK, but it's quite easy to create artwork with the SDK.
