Quicktime inst error searching for old drive

Please help,
I am using win xp, trying to re-install itunes/qt 10, after replacing bad hard-drive. My old hard drive had 4 partitions on it d,e,f and g. I originally installed itunes/qt on drive g. My new drive only has one partition drive d. I have removed all apple installations including bonjour using windows installion cleanup utility, etc. I have cleaned up the registry. I tried to install qt as a stand alone and itunes/qt setup. For some reason both installations stall because "drive g is an invalid location" and does not complete. Is there a way to trick the installation to choose a valid location? or a work around?

Excellent news, xo.
In QuickTime install contexts, messages mentioning the \lib\ directories can be associated with trouble with your Java runtime on the PC. (There's a QTJava.zip file that the QuickTime installers and existing .msi databases can look for in your Java program files, and that \lib\ folder is in the Java program files.) So it might be worth also checking to see if your Java runtime is currently up to date. (Updating the Java on the PC often gets people past \lib\ errors.)

Is the computer in you equipment line:
    Dual Core Intel Xenon
(which is not a PowerMac but a Mac Pro) the one you are asking about, or do you have an older PowerMac?
If a Mac Pro, their forums are here:
    Mac Pro
and, as Mac Pros have a totally different architecture from the pre-2005 Macs this forum covers, you may not have the same issues that can affect the older models. If someone didn't notice your equipment line, you could get advice that doesn't apply.
If you really have a pre-2005 PowerMac, read on.
If the stubborn external is USB and does not have its own power brick (i.e., it gets power only from the computer's UBS ports--"bus powered"), it may not be getting enough power. As electric motors age, they can demand more power than when new, and the power available on any USB port is limited.
The typical workabouts to making a computer recognize an aging, bus-powered USB drive are:
Get a powered USB hub (has its own power brick
Get a "Y" USB cable: 1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
The second gets power from two USB ports on the computer and often that's enough.
Remember that the USB ports on your keyboard seldom provide enough power even for a thumb drive, so be sure to use the USB ports on the back of the computer.

    Hi Peter!
I'm sorry to read that you are having issues with your Sync account.
Your best bet is to follow the steps described in this blogposts and open a bug:
    https://philikon.wordpress.com/2011/06/13/how-to-file-a-good-sync-bug/
After that, if you don't want to user Sync in your computer, you can stop it with this simple steps:
    * At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options.
    * Once the options window opens, click on the Sync tab.
    * At the bottom of the Sync tab click on '''Deactivate this Device''' link

Very recently, my computer stopped opening quicktime when I click on a video clip in iphoto. I have quicktime X, and it still works to play videos if I open quicktime and then search for the video. How do I go back to quicktime automatically launching from iphoto?

Well since I do not have iPhoto 7 I can only guess what may be: As far I can remember up to iPhoto 8, iPhoto insisted on Quick Time Player 7. As I can see you have Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) and there Quick Time X is the standard playaer. Basically Quick Time 7 is not part of Snow Leopard.
Can you please check if Quick Time 7 is installed under Applications->Utilitis (in 10.6 Quick Time 7 if presenet is installed not under Applications - there Quick Time X is - but under Application/Utilities).
If not: insert your Snow Leopard installation DVD.
Once the installer opens, double-click on the Optional Installs folder
    Double-click the Optional Installs.mpkg package
    Click continue.
Select the option for QuickTime 7 then click Continue to start the installation.
If it is there you may try to move the iPhoto prefernce file to another folder and let iPhoto create a new one.
Please keep the old file until you are sure that iPhoto works how it should.
The iPhoto preference file can be found under your home folder then Library then Preferences and there
    com.apple.iPhoto.plist
As alraedy mentioned do not delet this file, since if something goes wrong you can put it back.

  • Error "searching for movie data"

    Hi,
Okay, here's my problem. I edit on FCP 4.5 and used a Lacie drive for all my media. I was putting in non time-coded media for a new project and I ran out of room. So, I bought a G-Drive. I copied all the media for the new project onto the G-Drive, trashed it on my Lacie and started editing the project. After I got everything on the G-Drive, I wanted to edit on my Powerbook on the road with the Lacie, so I copied all of it back onto the Lacie after moving a few things around. Now, when I work off the Lacie drive and have the G-Drive off, I get a "searching for movie data" error on several clips when I open the project. It ultimately opens after a few minutes and the footage is all there, but I can't for the life of me remedy the problem.
I know I caused it by copying media back and forth, but how do I fix it? My scratch disk is set as the Lacie drive.
    Thanks,
    Mike

I'm pretty sure that's what it does. Some formats will benefit from capturing audio and video to different drives. DV on the other hand functions better capturing to one drive.
I've seen fcp get hung up on this searching for movie data thing and not let go. I recently tried to open an old project and got this message. I cancelled and for the next day or so, I kept getting this message everytime I tried to launch fcp (and I have open last project disabled in my preferences).
The moral to the story is: Avoid reference qt's at all costs. Drive space is cheap.

  • Searching for Old Calendar Appointments

I keep my full Calendar with all my old appointments on my iPad. As such, I have appointments going back 4 or more years. I routinely have to look up dates of some of these older appointments, yet I can't find a way to tell the iPad to search/find them. According to any documentation that I can find, it says that SpotLight Search will only search 1 year in the past and 1 year in the future. However, even if I search for a phrase using the search bar in the Calendar, it will not find these old appointments. Does anyone know of a setting that needs to be changed or how this can be done?
    Thanks,
    Merg

Hi QTsearcher, I had the same problem, and am now running Myst on Windows 98SE along with Riven and Exile. If you have games from the same era as Myst, i.e. the same time or up to a year later, check the folders and files that come up when you get ready to install them, some have QT programs that you can install alone without installing the game. After you install the QT, then install the Myst and it will find the version that it wants... This is what I did, and it worked for me.
    Good Luck

  • Transport error - Search for technical name

    Hi Experts,
I have transported an order from T-System to Q-System without any errors. But from Q to P-System it shows me some errors.
The error protocol gives me some technical names which are not in the system. For example 4E15PO57C6T4LN8Y3EI6W0EA5.
Now I have no idea which object calls 4E15PO57C6T4LN8Y3EI6W0EA5. I can`t search for it or anything else.
How can I identify objects If I have just this id 4E15PO57C6T4LN8Y3EI6W0EA5?
Thank you very much for all answers.

    Hi Marian,
If it is a transformation ID, dso etc you can search for the ID in the DEV system by selecting RSA1 and ctrl + F to find.  Paste the ID in and search.
If it is a bex object (query, view, variable etc) then you can use table RSZELTDIR from se16 enter then name of the object in ELTUID.  This will display the name of the object.
    Thanks,
    Nick.

  • Search for a driver: Ricoh Multi Card Reader for Windows 8 - for my T61 (6463) -

    Hi!
    I`m searching for a Windows 8-Driver for my T61 (6463).
I have a Ricoh Multi Card Reader inside and I can`t find a driver for this one.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thank you,
    Heiko
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
    Try downloading the following driver:
Name:  Ricoh Multi Card Reader Driver for Windows Vista, XP
    Version:  3.54.02
    Date:  06 Mar 2008
    URL:  http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=migr-68053
The drivers will extract to a directory named "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\4IN1\", if I recall correctly.  Once extracted, run Device Manager (filename: DEVMGMT.MSC), go to the entry where the unrecognized card reader is located, and perform an update, using the "Have Disk" option and pointing it to the directory in which the drivers were extracted.
I do not recall if a reboot is required, but in any case I would recommend doing one, at which point you should then be able to see the card reader from Windows 8.

  • SCREEN LOCKED error "Searching for your client device. Please wait..."

This error is locking my routers configuration screen. "Searching for your client device. Please wait... If you haven't clicked on the Wi-Fi Protected Setup button on your client device, please do so now."
Is there a fix for this issue without restoring to the factory defaults?.
Your work around is not an option because restoring the factory defaults and reconfiguring the router manually is would be too time consuming in our small office and can afford the downtime. Is there a fix for this issue without restoring to the factory defaults? This problem has been crippling many of the Linksys routers for some time now; just search the error on goggle.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Power cycle the router. Unplug the power cord for 30 seconds and power it back on. If it still won't work, then you will have to reset and reconfigure the router. Please check the links below on how to reset the router and set it up for either cable or DSL:

  • IMovie error 'searching for movie data in file "IMG_4365.MOV"'?

my iMovie goes into a loop at startup with the message "searching for movie data in file IMG_4365.MOV"?
I'm on iMovie 09 (version 8.0.6) and it's driving me mad. Help!

I am also seeing this bug and often work on 400mb+ presentations that use larger screen sizes and have lots of video assets for work.   On large files I find that autosave is not ideal, and would also like a way to turn it off. The computer that was seeing the issue was running 10.7.5.  It was just updated to 10.8.2 so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it works better now.  Time will tell.
I also really hope that Apple gives us a real refresh on Keynote on the Mac.  As old as it is, it still ahead of Powerpoint.  But it wont stay that way forever standing still and nobody else has a better alternative that is as fast and flexible to work with.  They are squandering somthing special by letting it gather dust.

  • Error Searching for TaskId in BPEL

    Hi All,
I need to search and retrieve Task Id from a group of human tasks (created through different BPEL processes) inside a BPEL service using Human Task title and other parameters such as Task Definition Name.
Is there any way to get the Task Id using TaskService partnerlink inside a BPEL process.?
Currently, I am trying to use embedded java code to search and retrieve TaskId. This code works fine but when I tried to deploy this BPEL service and run it, it throws the following exceptions.
Please let me know what can be the reason, is it because some jar files are missing or not in a particular sequence? Or is it because i am trying to use remote client API but this BPEL service is running on the same server?

You could have encountered a problem with RMI here, caused by one OC4J container calling another over RMI. We had a problem like this: different error stack, same error code.
It's this part that triggered us:
    2008-01-15 15:54:26,639> <ERROR> <default.collaxa.cube.services> <::> Caused by: javax.naming.CommunicationException: Connection refused [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused]

Have searched for days and just in pure desperation found a "note" in one of the manuals to run this command:
java -jar jazn.jar - grantperm myrealm -role myrole com.evermind.server.rmi RMIPermission login
    or
java -jar jazn.jar - grantperm myrealm -user myuser com.evermind.server.rmi RMIPermission login
Since documentation about this call wasn't much, we just tried to run it with the user orcladmin and our default realm AND IT WORKED.... Maybe it should work with a public role as well.
Don't ask why, I don't know. Am still trying to find out... May have to do with different library versions in the OC4J containers, or a chgiphost after installing.

  • My intel iMac keeps searching for a drive that doesn't exist.

My intel iMac opens a window saying it cannot find a drive with the IP address of 10.0.1.196 which, ot the best of my knowledge doesn't exist. The address is always the same, even after reprovisioning our entire system from modem to all the computers we have. The window will come up after a restart but before I have our server selected, but it will also pop up at almost any time. When it does, after clicking OK, it will reappear every few seconds for 5-10 times then stop. Very aggrevating because the window puts whatever I am doing in the background and I must click the OK and close the window before proceding with my work. Any way to stop this?

I am not sure that I got the wireless instructions correct. I opened the window to connect to a wireless network and instead of typing in a name I just typed in a dash. This caused my Airport icon to be grayed out. I then rejoined our office network by turning off and then restarting Airport.
For the ethernet connection, I did as instructed and then tested by turning off the Airport on the computer so I was only connected using ethernet.
Neither of these worked and the computer still searches for the same IP address.

  • Housing for old drives

I just replaced my old internal 160gb hard drive with a much larger one. I am loathed to dump the old drive. Can anyone recommend some kind of low-cost housing I can shove it into so I can still use it and where to buy it from? (I am in the UK). Thanks

I'm not sure how difficult it is - while it's under warranty - there's no point risking damaging it - I take mine to the service centre and get them to do everything.
I don't see how just changing the case to the ME edition will allow you to connect a normal 3.5mm headphone jack to it... you can get converters though, that will allow you to connect the adaptor to the pop-port and then connect a normal set of headphones to it...
You can get several different headsets for motorcycle helmets - wired and bluetooth... I'd just look at something like that instead.

  • Nokia 2275 error: Searching for service.

I have a Nokia 2275.  A few days ago, was unable to receive texts.  Came to this website and someone recommended factory reset.  Now I can't do anything on my phone and it says searching for service.  Anything I can do?
Moderator's note: The subject was edited as the post was moved to the correct board.

    Hi Bridgette,
Sorry to hear that. Are you seeing the "searching for service" when turning on the phone? Have you tried to remove and reinsert the back cover, battery, and the SIM of the phone?
