Quicktime installation issues

i was having issues with my quicktime, so i deleted it with the intentions of reinstalling it. during the installation process it says the computer must restart. upon restarting nothing happens and i can't find any traces of the quicktime player installing in my applications. any ideas?

If you wish to extract QuickTime Player from the installer, here are the steps:
1) download Pacifist from http://www.charlessoft.com/
2) Download the QuickTime installer and open the disk image.
3) Launch Pacifist
4) Click the button that says "Open Package", navigate to the QT disk image, and select the QuickTime76x_Leopard.pkg file
5) In the window that will open, click the disclosure triangle next to both listings saying "Contents of QuickTime76x_Leopard.pkg" to show the list
6) Click the disclosure triangle next to "Applications"
7) Click "QuickTime Player.app" to select it
12) Click the "Install" button in the Pacifist toolbar.
13) Make sure that "Use Administrator Privileges" is checkmarked and that the file will be extracted to /Applications/
14) Click the "Install" button.
Pacifist should then restore QuickTime Player to your Applications folder.

  • Itunes and Quicktime Installation issues

I am getting seriously frustrated! I am tring to install the Itunes 8 version and I already had Quicktime on my computer. It keeps giving me the same error: "There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I don't know what this means or what to do? I went online and made sure that I checked for updates and installed them. I did the removal and reinstallation separately of Quicktime, but when I go to reinstall Quicktime it gives me the same error message now. Anybody have any ideas?

Check out the itunes technical support group website. I had similar problems and they had the answer I needed there. Here's the link. Just copy and paste and you'll get to the area that solved my problem. http://www.techsupportforum.com/microsoft-support/windows-xp-support/108283-itun es-will-not-install-uninstall.html

  • Manually copy a Quicktime installation from one Mac to another?

We have an office full of computers with a very specific setup that includes Quicktime 7.1.3. And no, I cannot upgrade to the newer versions of Quicktime due to various technical issues that have arose during our testing. I'm setting up a new Mac station but have discovered that Apple removed all links for Quicktime 7.1.3. So i'm curious if i'd be able to manually copy/paste all the relevant quicktime files from one Mac to another (same specs on both). Would that work? Anybody have a list of files that Quicktime installs?

See if this will work (I've never tried it):
    HD>Library>Receipts
Check to see if you have a QuickTime or QT7.1.3 pkg file. If so, click on same. See if it will re-install QT.
If the above works, then you will have no need to transfer QT from one Mac to another.
I wonder if you can transfer just the .pkg files? Hmmmmm.............

  • Lightroom 4.2 Installation Issue

Leaving this around in case anyone else has the same problem -- Solution found -- Windows installer issues / registry issues -- used the Microsoft Fix it tool (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651#reso3) to correct.  4.2 install ran fine.
I've read through the posts in the Lightroom forum regarding  LR 4.2 install issues. I will list here the things I've done to try to get the install to work:
    1) Downloaded the installation software twice.
    2) Ran the setup program in admin user mode.
    3) Ran the install in admin user mode.
    4) Get the following error in a Windows Installer window:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi' in the box below.
    Use source:
    c:\Users\RMJF\AppData\Local\Temp\{...}
What I have found (after displaying hidden AppData folder):
The location where the .msi file resides is different from the one defaulting in the above window.
I select this alternate path, but still cannot complete the installation.
Furthermore, when I cancel the install, I get this error:
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.2 64-bit Installer Info
Error 1714. The older version of Adobe Photoshop Lightoom 4.2 64-bit cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group
I have been running LR since the beginning of time and most recently LR 4.1, so there is no 4.2 installed.
Also, I tried to fix the install of 4.1 via the programs in Control Panel. I cannot repair it and get this error:
The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.
All versions (except the 1.0 version) were downloaded and installed from the Adobe LR site.
    So, looking for suggestions.
Seems like there are some missing files from the 4.1 version that are hindering the install of 4.2???
All quite frustrating.  Hope you can get me to a speedy solution.
(System info:  Windows Vista 64-bit Home, SP 2, 20 GB of disk space to spare!  Also, I have set the install program to be allowed by the anti-virus program. I have run a registry clean-up, as well.  No other apps are running during the install.)

  • Quicktime installation failed - error 1312

Can anyone please help me? I'm trying to install Quicktime 7 (on Windows XP) but I keep getting the following error message:
    Quicktime error
Error 1312. Cannot create the directory C:\program Files\Quick Time\QTSystem\Quicktime MPEG4.Resources\fr.lproj. A file with that name already exists.
I've tried locating the file, but it doesn't seem to exist.
    What should I do?
Thank you very much in advance.
    M.

okay. the initial trouble with the QT component of the itunes may have left dodgy program files/folders/installation-configuration-information on the PC, which is interfering with the subsequent attempts at the QT install (even though nothing is currently showing on the PC).
working on that theory, here's what we'll try first.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
next use the QuickTime component of the complete uninstall instructions in the following document as a guide to a manual removal of any leftover QuickTime program files and folders.
Trouble installing iPod, iTunes, or QuickTime software in Windows
once we've got any existing QuickTime scraped away, let's try another careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
does it go through properly this time? if so, does your itunes launch properly?

  • Quicktime Installation Failed: error -3

I have been trying to install iTunes & Quicktime on my new Dell Windows computer without success. I get the above error and Quicktime will not install. iTunes will not function without Quicktime. I have spent hours on the phone with Apple support and Dell support who could not assist me. I have tried all the remedies suggested in this forum and the discussions obtained by Googling "quicktime installation failure." I have uninstalled and reinstalled the standalone versions, tried cleaning the registry of quicktime references and tried Microsoft installer cleaner without success. I would appreciate any assistance offered. This appears to be a somewhat common problem that Apple claims to be totally unaware of. Thank you.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the standalone versions

    Hi Alex,
Sorry I've been away and just got back.  Presently I'm working from jrun4 and would like to use blazeds instead.  Once my projects get going I would need the ability to use my customers already made linux/tomcat boxes and just plug in blaze.
I look forward to your answer.

Are you just trying to install and run BlazeDS? Why do you need to build from source?

  • Forms 10g Installation issue on windows 7 Professional service pack 1

    hi
I am trying to install oracle forms 10g  64 bit windows 7 Professional service pack 1 ..
Below are 2 files that i am using ..
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip (626,122,752 bytes)
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip (236,880,881 bytes)
But it failed but the error is ..
Checking operating system version: must be 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2.    Actual 6.1     Failed <<<<
just wondering if there are any workaround ..

Christian is right - Forms 10g R2 (version 10.1.2.0.2) is not certified for installation on Windows 7.  You must apply a Forms 10g R2 patch to bring the version to 10.1.2.3.0 for it to be certified.  You must have a My Oracle Support account to obtain the patch.
Now, to your question - is there a workaround; the answer is yes.  There are known issues with this installer.  I'll list them and their workaround.
    1.  The Oracle installer checks for a specific set of Windows versions rather than check for a minimum Windows version.
Workaround:  Right-click the Installer and select Properties.  Click the Compatibility tab and click the checkbox: Run this program in compatibility mode for:  Windows XP SP3).
    2.  The Oracle Installer can't detect Windows Managed Virtual Memory (VM).
Workaround:  You must temporarily change the Virtual Memory settings and specify specific Initial and Maximum sizes.  See this Microsoft article for more information on changing VM settings.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
This change will require you to restart your computer.  After you have successfully installed Oracle Forms 10g, you can restore the original VM settings.
    3.  The Oracle installer MUST be installed as an "Administrator".
Workaround:  Windows 7 uses "Least privileged user" so you must right-click the Installer and select the Compatibility tab.  Click the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox.
    4.  Not a Oracle installer issue, but you will have to install the 32-bit version of the Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) (1.6.0 - not 1.7.0) because Oracle Forms is a 32-bit application so it will not be able to use the 64-bit JRE.
Run the Oracle installer and it should now install succesfully.

what are the precise numerical and text codes that you're getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)

  • NWDS installation issue - "Please wait... completing the install"

    Hi all,
I got the same "Problem" each time I update my NWDS.
[Re: NWDS installation issue.|Re: NWDS installation issue.]
After the installation, when I start the NWDS I get always the message:
    "Please wait... completing the install"
If I create a new Workspace this really solves the problem but I don't like to create every time a new workspace after an update and copy all my projects back to this new workspace.
Is there no other solution around? I think I'm not the only one who has this troubles, am I?
    Regards,
    Stefan

    Hi all,
I solved this problem by myself. So for everyone who is interested in how to solve this problem:
Just delete the folder .config in
    \workspace\.metadata\
During the next start of NWDS this folder will be created and everything will work as excpected!

  • Quicktime Installation error message

I have been trying to install iTunes and keep getting the error message "The older version of Quicktime cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group".
I followed some of the instruction from previous posts. I've deleted any file with "quicktime" or "qt" in the name, restarted and tried installing just QT w/o iTunes. Still keep getting this error message. When I tried just installing QT, during the installation I got an error message saying it could not locate the ".msi" file, so I cancelled then got the "older version" message. Any ideas?

download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility, then use it to remove any existing QuickTime installation configuration information:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll make sure we've manually removed all leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
now try another itunes install. does it go through properly this time?
