Quicktime keeps restart my computer
I just downloaded and installed itune and quicktime 7 but it does work right. Everytime I drag and drop a video from my video file or trying to open quicktime (by double click the icon) it keeps restart my computer. Can anyone out help me fix this problem? Thanks
I don't know the exact reason for the re-starts. But one thing I am absolutely sure of is if a windows computer has a video card driver that is not compatible the computer will do re-starts. A thing to look for is a yellow circle with a ! in it in Device Manager under Display Adapters. If you have that, then you have a driver problem

Can't access iPhoto library through IPhoto or Aperture. Keeps restarting the computer.
My library is on an external WD 6T drive. Recently, while flipping through an album, it locked up and shutdown the computer. Now it will restart the computer anytime I open either of the apps. And will stay in this cycle unless I disconnect the drive. I'm on a 27" iMac, with a 3.4G processor and 32G of RAM, running 10.10.1, iPhoto 9.6 and Aperture 3.6. Disc Utility does not discern any problems and I'm considering purchasing Easy Recovery to see if that will do any good. I've also tried several things garnered from WD support, but again, to no avail.

try to isolate the problem. We do not know yet, if your drive is malfunctioning, if the particular iPhoto/Aperture library is corrupted, or if you are having a general problem with your system.
In addition to LarryHN's advice I suggest the following:
Since your external drive may be failing, back up all data on that drive to a different drive as soon as possible, if you do not have a current backup. But do not overwrite any older backup you have, because you may need it.
Then test, if you can open any iPhoto Library on that drive at all. Create a new iPhoto library on that drive and try to open it there. Can you open new libraries on that drive?
If you cannot even open a new library on your external drive, there is no point in trying to open your main library there. Get the library off the drive to a different drive formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled) and try to open it on the different drive. Follow Larry's instructions to rebuild the library.

Windows on bootcamp keeps restarting the computer and take me back to windows

on my macbook air i have a partition for boot camp and windows 7 pro is installed on it. today i decided to install autodesk maya mac version on my mac which really has nothing to do with windows or boot camp ,but after installation was done ,when i was going to install the network license manager , the computer had to restart to finish the installation process,instead of booting in mac it booted in windows and when i tried to restarted and keep it in mac ,it didn't let me to stay in mac for more than 2 seconds and started the booting process again by itself and took me back to windows again.
this process went on and on ,no matter what i do ,it does not let me stay in mac .Even i decided to get rid of the bootcamp and windows altogether and say **** with it (as i did 8 years ago) but it does not let meenogh time to do this and get rid of that .I really have no idea what else to do .i did google the problem ,but obviously nobody else had this kind of problem ,so google was no help.please help me in this matter and let me know what i can do .I have no prblem of uninstalling the bootcamp ,if no other option is left .

yes i can start into osx . but as i mentioned i just let me stay there only 2 seconds , and after that restarts by itself.
i just noticed that may be safari is the cause of all this . i just changed the startup disk ,and now mac is the start up disk ,but again after 2 seconds the rebooting process starts automatically and does not let me do anything . -
Mountain Lion keeps restarting my computer
I just installed this yesterday on my computer and before it wouldn't even start-up. I booted it using CMD + R and repaired all of the permissions and drive. Then it started and let me log in. However, seconds after logging in, it immediately restarted itself and repeated the same process over again. Is there anyway I can fix this?

Desktop not loading, I have to keep restarting computer and it doesn't always work!! Why???
everytime I turn on my computer it loads the basic desktop (factory settings one) with non of my icons or image.
Sometimes if I restart my computer it loads correctly and other times I have to keep restarting my computer.
This is extremely annoying can anyone help to fix this issue.

What operating system are you running and what model of HP computer do you have? Based on your description it sounds like your user profiles may be corrupt or the computers are experiencing other problems. According to a Knowledge Base (KB) article from Microsoft this can also be caused by antivirus software scanning your computer what you try to log in. See the link to the KB below for troubleshooting steps if you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7.
As you can see in the symptoms Windows is loading a temporary profile for you. Do you receive any messages similar to "The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."? Let me know what happens.

Itunes, iphoto, garageband, quicktime won't open, computer keeps freezing..
Hello, I am new to this forum, and am hoping to get some help. In just the last couple of days my computer has began to run a bit funky, freeze, and the pinwheel spins. I have to restart the computer, and sometimes can't even access the force quit. Also, my itunes, garageband, iphoto, etc will not open, nor will quicktime. I just tried to play a youtube video and it shut down firefox. A couple of days ago, I had been transferring data from my computer to an external hard drive, trying to back up all my info so that I could do an update to leopard soon. I tried running Disk Utility which is located in Applications/Utilites folder and run a permissions and disk repair, but was only able to do a verify disk permissions and repair disk permissions. When I tried to verify disk, it said it could not complete due to "volume" error. The option to repair disc would not even open up as a prompt for me to try. I also noticed that the external hard drive was listed along with Macintosh HD as an option to chose to repair or verify. Here is the other thing that has been happening, and I'll try to word this as best I can. The little clicking sound that the computer makes when it is transferring data to the external hard drive won't stop. Even though I have the external disconnected, the sound that the computer made when I was transferring data, still is being made. It seems as though the computer still thinks that the external is still connected, like it is stuck, constantly making that little clicking noise, which is located in what seems to be the front right of the laptop. If anyone one has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thank you. J-NY

Try running +repair disk+ from your *software install DVD* and afterwards, run +repair permissions+ *from your HD.*
If the volume cannot be repaired, you will need to use a 3rd party utility. The following utilities you should consider looking into if you do not have any:

Multi-functional utility.
Drive Genius Multi-functional utility.
You will need to make your own decision on which to purchase. Read up on them on their websites because each does something a little different.

when i click to open firefox it says that "firefox is already running but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." and I've tried to shut down and restart my computer but it keeps showing the same message. I've even uninstalled Firefox and then reinstalled in the hopes that the problem would be solved but it this message is still popping up. What can I do to solve this problem?

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

My son installed a toolbar and I uninstalled it but it didn't disappear. A friend told me if I uninstall firefox and re install it, that the toolbar would be gone. I uninstalled firefox and went to reinstall it and it told me I had to restart to get rid of the old version completely, I restarted my computer and tried to install it again and it keeps coming up with the "you must restart your computer" thing. I have restarted my computer at least 20 times and it keeps happening and I cannot install firefox and its making me mad cause I hate using IE but if I can't figure it out I am going to be forced to use it instead of Firefox :(
If the toolbar installed something into the rest of the system, you will see an entry in the Control Panel in the software uninstall applet which should be removed. You might need to make a new profile if you cannot find an extension that has something to do with the toolbar.

Hi all.
I need some help. I have recently installed a new Hard Drive in my Macbook and have re-installed Snow Leopard. Since doing so there have been a few things that haven't been quite the same.
1) Certain buttons decided they didnt want to work anymore. These being the Space Bar, the Tab key, all four arrow keys, Caps lock, Volume up, Eject, and a few others.
After putting up with this for a couple of weeks and looking at numerous forums, they all of a sudden came back to life (Hence why I'm actually able to type this message) THEN, they packed up again. Then started again, then packed again, and so on. They seem to have a mind of their own.
Please... does anyone know whats going on? Is it a hardware prob? Is it something to do with the way Ive installed the Hard Drive? Have I forgotten to do something?
2) Ever since my buttons initially came back to life, the "Do you want to restart you computer?" window keeps popping up every couple of minutes.
It's the window that says "Restart, Sleep, Cancel, Shut Down"
It's driving me insane and I can't help but think that the two probs are related.
If anyone out there has any ideas at all, they would be most welcome.

I looked in console and its saying that it may be because of Sophos Anti-Virus, i deleted and uninstalled all traces of Sophos but looked in console and this is some of the lines coming up:

Can anyone help me get my iMac to reboot? I get a gray "curtain" over the light gray start up screen with a message that I need to restart my computer and to hold the power button until it powers off and then press the power button again to restart. It just does this over and over again and won't restart.
Yeah, as necronym stated, it is a hardware issue and more than likely a RAM problem. Disconnect everything from the computer except keyboard and mouse and try again. If it still happens try removing one and/or swapping your RAM sticks over. Keep trying until you have eliminated all possible combinations. Just put a mark on one RAM stick so you know what have tried. If it still fails to boot properly you should probably replace your RAM, but that is no guarantee of success. I have an iMac that I am running OSX 10.8.3 on. I keep trying to install 10.8.4 but it will not install. I tried updating and installing several times and it restarts the computer but it will not install the software. My machine is about 8 months old so, it's in the newish range. HELP!
Sometimes the App Store version doesn't work correctly. In this case, install 10.8.4 with the Combo version > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
The Combo installer is the safest way to update OS X, and it allows you to update more than one computer with a single download
