QuickTime lossless Output

Hi all,
I have a ".avi uncompressed" file in AE, I want to have an output so I can import it to Final Cut Pro, since Final Cut does not supprt .avi I have to change it to something that it does without any quality loss. so I thought changing it to QuickTime file, but but I don't know if I use QuickTime with Compression type: None and Compressor Depth Millions of Colors+, will the file lose quality or not? or please tell me if you know any output format( with no loss of quality) I can have with AE that is supported by Final Cut Pro.
Thank you for helping,
Negin

I know that FCP converts any footage to it's own codec, ProRes, so you might wanna go with that. Use the same frame size and FPS as your original file, and for quality set the max you can. For quality check, I usually import both the original and the converted file in AE, stack them in a comp with Difference as blending mode for the top layer. If the result is all black, then there's no difference between the clips.

  • Quicktime Video Output Components equivalent in QTKit?

    I need to output video frames to external devices such as Firewire cameras and Digital Cinema Desktop. This used to be handled with Quicktime Video Output Components, but I'm not seeing an equivalent with QTKit. My application is 64-bit, so I cannot use Quicktime directly. Is this available in QTKit or another 64-bit compatible framework?

    Benjamin: The Digital Cinema Desktop is a Final Cut feature, even if implemented as a Quicktime Video out component. As you can see (by the lack of options) is not really meant to be invoked from other applications which use standard Quicktime video out for external previews. That requires a device with a proper QT video out driver. You could use an inexpensive device, like a Blackmagic Intensity with an HDMI to DVI cable, to feed the second display.
    Or you could just ask AE to play RAM previews at full screen, in which case you don't need to enable video previews at all. Together with the ability to take into account a calibrated display's profile, this should make for very high quality previewing on computer monitors.

  • After Effects warning: Couldn't open Quicktime video output component????

    Hello,
    I was wondering why this warning is coming up every time I open After Effects-
    (After Effects warning: Couldn't open Quicktime video output component.)
    It also reappears every time I go to a different program then back into After Effects.
    I am currently on a-
    MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.5
    2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    After Effects CS3
    Quicktime 7.5.5
    GeForce 8600M GT
    2 external storage drives (Western Digital, Lacie)
    Matrox MX02
    I just upgraded quicktime and this started appearing.
    ANY IDEAS.

    Sorry,
    Here;s another. I have Quicktime Pro installed. I have CS3 installed. I also have AE v7 which runs a few plugins I am still thinking work in v7. CS3 runs OK but in version 7 it gives me the "Couldn't open Quicktime Video Output Component " notice. I had a client working in v7 so I tried to work in v7, it was a bad idea. I lost days of work and finally just went to CS3 to get the job done but couldn't use one anothers files between versions.
    What can I do to get the AE v7 Couldn't open Quicktime video output component fixed. Make it simple if you can... I'm an artist.
    Thanks

  • Couldn't open Quicktime video output component.

    I was able to find 2 other posts in regards to the error. The one didn't have enough information to be answered and the other had a link to an apple page that no longer exists. Sorry for the repeat but I can't seem to find an answer that applies to me.
    The "After Effects warning: Couldn't open Quicktime video output component." message appears when I open AFX and is waiting for me when I come back to it from another program. In AFX's Preferences window under Video Preview I have set my Output Device to Digital Cinema Desktop. No options ever show up in the Output Model drop down. As you can probably guess I am trying to get my second display to preview the composition full screen.
    For other reasons, I just had to reinstall OSX (10.5.7). Then I installed Adobe Production Premium CS3 and the Final Cut Suite HD.
    My computer is a 4 core Mac Pro with 7GB of memory. I don't have any Matrox hardware. Actually I don't have anything except the 2 DVI monitors, battery backup, analog speakers, mouse and keyboard plugged into the computer.
    I have held down apple + option + shift while starting up AFX to reset the Preferences as well as replaced the DesktopVideoOut.component file with one from another working computer in the /Library/Quicktime folder finally I have tried Repairing Disk Permissions.
    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • After Effects warning: couldn't set Quicktime video output display mode

    After Effects warning: couldn't set Quicktime video output display mode
    I'm getting this error when exporting video from after effects. I also get it when the program starts up. I'm using Windows XP. Cannot find anything about a fix anywhere. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks for your reply. I profess ignorance regarding the GDI only mode and have no idea how to access that. Can you give me a little more info on that?
    I am using an ATI Radeon HD 3850. I have two monitors on that card, Monitor one is a Trinitron HP 1130 CRT.(set to 1280x1024 16bit) The other is DVI wide screen Ilo 26 inch monitor. (1024x768 at 32 bit)
    I have a BlackMagic Design DECKLINK standard definition broadcast card which outputs component video to a sony broadcast Beta deck. 480ix720 standard video.
    The machine has a gigabyte motherboard. Intel Core 2 quad cpu 2.66 ghz
    2.50 gb ram reported (4gigs installed)
    These hasn't been a major issue as I can still output AVI uncompressed but it is annoying.

  • Multichannel Quicktime discrete outputs not working in CC

    I have tried dozens of times after reading great tutorials like here: http://strypesinpost.com/2013/06/exporting-mulitchannel-quicktimes-in-premiere-pro-part-2/
    but still no luck exporting multichannel discrete quicktimes in premiere pro CC.  I have created and set a sequence for multichannels, then assigned channels in timeline to match and set export to match but still nothing but ONE working track out of 4 on number 1 and sometimes 2. I have tried outputting 4 strereo tracks with 8 channels panned and unpanned, 4 mono tracks, ect, ect. I am really liking premiere so far from FCP and Avid except this, please help.  Thanks
    Note:
    I am not seeing the split track button under the pan knob in the mixer like I did in version 6.  Is this normal for CC?   Thanks again

    All fixed, I was in clip mixer and not track mixer and could not see the assignment buttons.  Everything works like a charm now as stereo or mono multichannel discrete quicktime outputs (through two speakers) using quicktimes "show movie properties" to individually check each track for correct sound . Thanks

  • Mailbox effect between shared and quicktime video output

    Here are some screenshots from a movie I'm making. You'll see the kid doing the limbo in the clip at the centre of the top image is mailboxed with black top and bottom. I've added some type to the frame (lower portion of bottom screenshot) and it looks like it'll fall outside the image, but when I export the movie as a medium shared video, it turns out fine (upper part of bottom screenshot).  Make sense? I can't figure out why this is happening and where the edges of my frame are. The problem gets serious if I export to Qucktime because the mailbox effect shows while it doesn't show in the medium shared video output.
    Any advice appreciated.

    Hi this worked for me... After you've changed the stuff within the browser close it out completely, Open the actual QuickTime on your PC edit-preferences then you will see both player and QuickTime separately. You need to uncheck automatically start play in both preferences, in the second one it has a browser tab when you click that the default is set checked for automatically play in browser uncheck that go through each tab in both preferences and make sure autoplay is not enabled anywhere, Good luck Rhondar35

  • Messed up colors with quicktime h264 output

    Hello to you all,
    Probably not the first time this is mentioned on the apple forum, but I still can't find a working solution for this problem:
    Whenever I output a h264 file with quicktime, my colors are messed up.
    I have a red car on video. It's red in the original AVCHD MTS file viewed with VLC, it's still red when converted to AIC with voltaic and viewed in Quicktime. But then it happens, exporting to h264 results in a red car with a light blue cast over it, it looks purple!. Both in VLC and Quicktime.
    Tried colorsync filters, probably every existing combination, only makes things worse.
    Tried to attach other color profiles with automator, only makes things worse.
    I have a wonderfull screenshot of this...hmm I can't attach pictures into this forum...or can I ?
    Does anyone know why my car is red in the original raw footage, still red in the AIC file and NOT red but slightly purple in the h264 export.
    My settings for h264 output:
    Bitrate 24Mbps. Multiple cycles.

    Wrong forum. This one is to support the FCS application COLOR. It isn't to discuss the vagaries of how your software interprets color information.
    You will get better response by posting your question in the forum on this Apple site dedicated to the software you are using for the transcoding.

  • QuickTime Player output

    Hi, I'm a total beginner with FCE. While I'm waiting to save up for a good camera I just want to use the MBP iSight to experiment and practice, so I set up the QT player to record at "device native" quality.
    This means that the output mov files have the following setting:
    Format - Apple Photo - Jpeg 1280x1024
    The problem is I can't find a suitable Easy Setup in FCE. Any advice?
    thanks

    Convert the video after you take it using [MPEG Streamclip|http://www.squared5.com> to a frame size that FCE can use such as 1280x720, then use an +Apple Intermediate Codec 720p30+ sequence.
    You will also need to convert it to a format FCE can use such as Apple Intermediate Codec. You can also do this using Streamclip in the same +Export to Quicktime+ window.

  • HDD Quicktime transfer (output) to DVCPro HD & MiniDV

    I'm working on a project that is in Quicktime, and I need to output it to DVCPro HD & MiniDV using Final Cut Pro. I have a Panasonic DVC Pro HD deck & a Sony DVcam deck ready for it, but I was wondering what would I need to exactly due to transfer it to DVCPro HD & miniDV (step by step, settings and all for each one), so I can have the best quality for it?
    Thanks in Advance...

    I will only be using firewire cable to hook up my Final Cut Pro to the DVCpro HD deck & the miniDV deck...

  • Can I get HD Quicktime video output via Windows 7

    How can I put this.  I have a fellow employee to states that it is impossible to produce HD quality QuickTime via via Windows 7.  Is this an accurate statement?

    Not true.
    If your source files are in high definition format you can edit and export via QuickTime Player Pro.

  • Cannot render After Effects Comp to Quicktime, Lossless

    Hi,
    I am trying to do a very simple test animation using Video Copilots Optical Flares, an imported PSD file for lettering and a JPG for a background image.
    Below is the error I keep getting:
    And below are my settings:
    I tried some other settings and the file would render but there would be a large green area as if it were an interlaced image. I turned field rendering off (then on, same thing)
    I am using an 3.06 GHz iMac, with 4 GB RAM, and After Effects CS5.5.
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Could be a file allocation problem, because your drive is too large. Some legacy CoDecs cannot deal with drives larger than 1TB, because their metrics are from an age where files could not be larger than a certain size and the math simply fails. Try rendering the same file to a smaller volume to test...

  • Direct Digital Output through Quicktime?

    I've used iTunes for years (ever since my first iPod) and I've never had a problem with it. However two years ago I got a HiFi receiver. Nothing fancy or anything, but ever since I've been wondering if I could some how bypass my soundcard's DAC and get iTunes (through Quicktime? I'm assuming iTunes uses Quicktime to decode audio. If I'm wrong could someone please move this thread to the iTunes for Windows sub-forum?) to output directly to PCM through S/PDIF? My soundcard has the ports (both coaxial and Toslink), but the only way that I've so far found to do this is either with an Airport Express (which is pretty much $100 to connect my HiFi which is 2m away from my computer, although currently this is pretty much my only option) or through the 3rd party plugin, multi-plugin (and foobar 2000). Unfortunately multi-plugin doesn't support a version of iTunes that will support my iPod.
    Does anybody know of any other way to get iTunes/Quicktime to output PCM directly and bypass my soundcard's DAC? I can get it to pass it to the soundcard, have the soundcard decode it and recode it to PCM/AC3, but that's basically going from digital to analogue to digital again which is a lossy conversion. 3rd party plugins are fine as long as they work with iTunes 7.4 or newer.
    Plugging my iPod into the HiFi is not desirable as I would like to control the music from the computer.
    Thank you for reading.

    Anybody? Are there any 3rd party plugins for iTunes/Quicktime that I haven't heard of?

  • Quicktime + 5.1 output + MIDI

    Hi,
    I'm fighting with Quicktime to output 5.1 audio AND a MIDI signal via USB simultaneously. I've got an unusual AV presentation set-up that requires HD projection, 5.1 audio, AND a MIDI signal to control a servo shutter device which blacks out the video projector signal at synchronised moments in the presentation. Currently I've got it all to work from a Mac Mini over optical using Perian, with the sub-woofer channel going to an analogue input on the shutter controller. I'd prefer using MIDI to control the shutter for a number of reasons, but I don't know where to start - it's already so tricky just to get 5.1 out of the Quicktime / Mac Mini combo. My most basic question is whether it's possible to playback a file that's Quicktime HD (DVI) + 5.1 (OPTICAL) + MIDI (USB) all out of a Mac Mini without additional hardware. I've successfully used Perian previously, but without the additional MIDI output.

    Quicktime as default downmixes the audio to stereo, that's why you can't hear your video in Surround. However, there is this tool - Perian - which allows you to change output format (EG: stereo, multi-channel output).
    You can get it from here: http://perian.org/

  • Issues with embedding QuickTime for audio

    Two issues when playing audio files via a web browser (tried with Chrome and IE8):
    If I use wmode=transparent the control buttons are not shown, only the progress bar. When I removed wmode=transparent it worked fine. Is this correct behavior?
    Some browsers still invoke the embed part instead of the object part. I thought all browsers used object now.
    Here's the markup I now generate (in PHP):
    $output .= "<object classid=clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B codebase=http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab>";
    $output .= "<param name=src value='" . $url . "' />";
    $output .= "<param name=autoplay value=false />";
    $output .= "<param name=controller value=true />";
    $output .= "<param name=bgcolor value=FFFFFF />";
    $output .= "<embed src='" . $url . "' autoplay=false controller=true bgcolor=FFFFFF pluginspage=http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/>";
    $output .= "</embed>";
    $output .= "</object> ";
