QuickTime Mask Disappears

I am using Director MX2004 with latest 10.1 update
Windows XP Pro sp2
QuickTime 7.1
ATI Graphics with latest update
New Dell computer with latest BIOS
Videos are MP4 QuickTimes compressed with H.264 codec
I have a series of QuickTime files, all have a mask. I apply
the mask using both
on beginSprite me
sprite(me.spritenum).member.mask=member("Mask-1)
end beginSprite
and
on prepareFrame
sprite(3).member.mask=member("Mask-1)
end prepareFrame
I started with just the beginSprite and then when things went
wrong, I added the prepareFrame.
The QuickTime videos will always start with the mask OK. Then
sometimes, in the middle of the playback the mask will disappear
and the video will show through everywhere. When this happens, I
also get a florescent green vertical line at the right edge of the
video.
This does not happen with any regularity or to any specific
video.
Does anyone have any thoughts?

Just a guess
Have you tried reading mask property after it fails (if it's
readable)
There may be a low RAM condition in which the mask is one of
the purgabl
assets tha get tossed to keep director afloat.

Layer Mask Disappears

I have Flash CS3 and have a music spectrum analyzer on the
bottom layer. It is masked by a graphic in a movie clip on the
second layer.
The mask disappears when I add any graphic or movie clip to
an upper layer.
Why could this be? Thanks

Quicktime controls disappear and I can't get them back, in Lion.

When I open a movie in Quicktime 10.1, in Lion, the play controls are there on the movie. As soon as I start the movie and move the cursor they disappear, as they are supposed to, but if I move the cursor back over the movie the controls do not come back and I cannot control the movie. When the movie ends there are still no controls. I can't seem to find any Preferences or settings to contol QT's behavior at all. What is the solution to this?

I'm having the exact same issue. I lanch a video in QuickTime Player (Version 10.2 - 603.6) and the title bar and player controls are there as expected. Note I'm in the windowed mode (not full screen). I click play within the player contorls and the video start playing. I move my cursor out of the window bounds and the player controls and title bar disappear. So far all of this is normal. But if I bring my cursor back within the window area, the player controls and title bar never reappear. I try everything- clicking in the window area, moving my cursor in and out, bring the QuickTime app into focus, etc. Nothing will bring the controls back. I can tell that the are really there, because if I click where the play/pause button should be, the video will play or pause. I can even click where the scrub bar should be and the video will jump to that part of the video.
I've tried using the third command (Always show titlebar/controller) on this page:

and that dose cause the controler and title bar to stay on the screen at all times. But that’s not what I want- I want it to disappear when my cursor is out of the window (which is the normal behavior). If I run the command to undo it:
defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGUIVisibilityNeverAutohide 0
that will return QuickTime to the same messed up functionality. I'm running OS 10.8.2 on a 2012 Mac Mini. I also found other people on the boards that seems to be having the same problem from years ago so it seem like it might be a long-standing problem. Any thoughts?

IMovie 11 - Export Using Quicktime - File Disappears after Export......

Hey everyone:
I've got a weird one here. I've made my first project using iMovie. I want to burn a DVD, so I clicked >>Share >> iDVD and it comes over fine. I then setup a menu and stuff and burned it. However, when I play it on my 52" plasma, it doesn't fit correctly. It fills the screen, but it's almost like it's zoomed in so it cuts off of ALL edges.
So I did some research and found this post and went to try it out. So within iMovie, I click "share using Quicktime" and change some of the various settings and export the movie as a Quicktime (.MOV) file to my "Movies" folder. The movie is about 55 minutes, it says it'll take about 35 minutes to export.
35 minutes later I come back and the export box has closed, iMovie is still open, just like it should be, and the file I just exported is nowhere to be found. It just disappears. The second and third time I tried, I open a Finder window and watch the file get created, then get larger, and larger. But once it's done, the file is gone.
So then I created a new project and made a movie that was only 10 minutes long. It exports fine and the file is there when it's done. In other words, I can't replicate the problem with a new project. However, I have a lot of time in editing this movie and don't want to start over for fear of finding the same result.
What should I do?

I have this same problem and there are several threads running about it. I have the paid-for version of iMovie, and cannot even get it to export a Quicktime movie. This makes it even more useless than I already find it to be. I spent the last two days working on a video, and for me to send it to my client, I would have to freight my computer to them so they could view it.

Illustrator clipping masks disappear in pdf from IDCS3

I just tried exporting a pdf from an InDesign CS3 document that contains an imported Illustrator-eps. In InDesign everything looks fine - but in the exported pdf some of the clipping masks (on tiff's) in the eps have disappeared.
I tried saving the Illustrator-eps as an Illustrator-pdf - now the exported pdf from IDCS3 is OK.
I tried switching to InDesign CS2 - keeping the old Illu-eps, and the exported pdf was OK.
Is there any way though that I can get IDCS3 to work with my old Illustrator-epses - so I don't have to open all of them and save as Illustrator-pdf? The idea of going back to IDCS2 isn't thrilling eather...

Is CS3 fully updated to 5.0.4? If so, and this is easily reproducible it
will never get fixed for CS3 so your workaround are all you have.

Rounded corners from image mask disappear with Drop Zone

Hi All,
I'm really stumped here. I'm on Motion4 and per directions from other posts I have used the following method to attempt a mask shape. The desired outcome is a photo that has a nice square shape with rounded corners.
1. Using a photo on the canvas.
2. In the layers menu, I click on the image and select, Add Image Mask
3. In the inspector I go to Image mask and drop in Frame17 from the contents folder.
The problem...every time the rounded corners from the shape seem to disappear. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? Or suggest another method.
Additional info from Image Mask Tab: Source Channel is set to Alpha, Mask Blend Mode is set to Add, automatically-I did not set these.

When you say that the rounded corners seem to disappear, what do you mean exactly? Are they there at first, but then disappear after you start playing the sequence? Or do the rounded corners not happen at all?
If the corners start, but disappear after playing the project, then it probably means that the Frame 17 image from the content folder is not as long as the image mask. As soon as the Frame ends, it will stop providing the source for the image mask. Fix this by making sure that Frame 17 is at least as long as your image mask.
Alt way, and easier unless you're working in a 3D project, is to simply draw a rectangle mask around your photo and in the Mask tab of the inspector, adjust the roundness parameter until the corners are sufficiently rounded to your liking.

Codec Settings window in QuickTime Options disappears.

Im on a mac with OSX 10.7.5. Whenever I try to open up the Codec Settings on any codec within Quicktime the settings window doesnt appear, or it apears for a second and disappears very quickly. Any idea what might be going on?

Im on AE CC on a Mac Pro with OSX 10.7.5 with quicktime 7.6.6 and a Quadro FX 4800 and AJA Card. I have the latest drivers for the AJA, and I am not using the AJA AE plugins because they fail miserably if you also run Avid Media Composer.

Quicktime Audio Disappears after Publishing

Hi -
I'm using iWeb 09; I have long been using iWeb to publish my website - part of that has been uploading mp3 files for people to listen to.
My problem is suddenly my files, which play perfectly in iWeb, don't even show up on the page after I publish it. Previously, when the page first loaded, the Quicktime symbol would appear under the image placeholder until the file loaded and then you could play it. Now, after waiting, there is nothing but the image placeholder.
For the life of me, I cannot figure this out. It is this way on Firefox; Safari 4 shows an Quicktime sybmol with a question mark (both on my Mac), and on a PC with IE7 it doesn't show up at all.
I've searched here and across the web and cannot find anyone else who has encountered this problem. Please help!

Quicktime Pro disappears

I purchased Quicktime Pro online and used it ok for a few months. My computer Mac g4 powerbook has now reverted the quicktime back to the free version. What' happened? Can I get the pro version back?

Was the QuickTime Pro you used QuickTime 6? Is the QuickTime you're using now QuickTime 7? They have different Pro numbers, and you would have to buy the QT7 one in order to use QT7 Pro features.
You could get back to having QT6, except that I don't think that will work under 10.4. Perhaps that's the change you made, going from 10.3 to 10.4?
If it turns out that you did have a QT7 Pro number, just go back to the online Apple Store, and in your account area you can look in the software downloads section and you'll see your QT Pro numbers listed. That's a good way to be sure of which version you did buy.

Ever since I installed Snow Leopard (10.6.8), masking in QuickTime 7Pro has stopped working. Has anybody experienced this? Is there a work around? Can I use FCP to add masks to video?

Masks disappeared in old videos where I had previously and successfully added a mask, and I could not longer use QT 7Pro to add a mask to a new video. When I installed Snow Leopard I also installed QT X, but I found QT 7Pro in the Utilities folder, so it is still there but the masking function is definately not working.
Has anybody else experienced this?

A extremely weird and crazy problems trying to install Quicktime

For the last couple of hours I've tried every angle to try to fix this problem. Now the crazyiest part of this is not only can I not install Quicktime but I can't even download a file that has "quicktime" in the name. If I try to download any version of Quicktime that has "Quicktime"(all of them) in the name, it finishes and I try to open it, and I get a msg "(filename) doesn't exist. It may have been renamed, moved or deleted...". So the only way I can download the installers is if I change the name to something random, I get the error msg even if I rename the file "QU".
The main issue is when I try to install Quicktime, with Itunes or Standalone I get a runtime error "This application has requested to terminate in a ununsual way" I have searched the forum and have tried every fix, from Regedits to virus scans you name it. I went to oldversions.com and I couldn't even download version 3.
The other crazy part is that after i get the runtime error message and hit "ok" Quicktime completely disappears from my computer. On some of the older versions I don't get a error msg, it installs, I hit "finish" then I try to go where I installed it to and every single time it disappears, i've tried to install it on the Desktop, external harddrives, etc. but its never their. I'm usually able to fix problems like this but this one is just unbelievable so I more then appeciate any help I can get with this, thanks.

The behavior you are seing suggests a virus or system corruption of some kind. The best way to get back up and running may be to perform a repair installation of Windows. There are steps for performing a repair installation of Windows XP on the Microsoft support site here. There are several other sites on the web that have more information about Windows repair installs. Here is one you might want to review.
Keep in mind that repairing Windows will not remove malicious programs from your computer. After the repair, you will need to update and run a full scan with known-good anti-virus software.

Quicktime 2093 error

Everything worked fine until I attempted to upgrade to Itunes 7.0. Itunes will not load and it produces "Quicktime gives a fail to initialize error 2093"
I've tried the various troubleshooting suggestions I've been able to find on this forum.
1. throughly scanned my computer using AWG, TrojanHunter and Eiwdo.
2. done each of the steps of http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
3. error checked my hard drive
4. reinstalled windows installer.
5. when i attempted to change the QuickTime settings via the Control Panel I receive a Buffer Overrun Detected! Program C:\windows\system32\rundl32.exe
6. Also at that the upgrade knocked the sound out of my Windows Media player.
7. I cannot get a response to clicking on the Speaker Settings Advanced Options button in the Sounds and Audio Devices in the Control Panel
8. I went to the RealTek site and upgraded my sound driver

After creating a mask on a pixel layer and then throwing it away, the pixels disapper

If I create a mask on a pixel layer and then throw the mask away, the pixels under the old black mask disappear. Help! How do I fix this? I have already reset preferences. I am using the most current version of Photoshop CC 2014 on a Mac with OS 10.9.5

Or just leave the layer mask in place. It's a valuable recourse that you might need to use again. The layer mask exists as an alpha channel. It's there in the Channels panel when you click on the layer that contains the layer mask. You might want to restrict an adjustment layer to the same area, or the inverse of that area. It's not always convenient to do that by clipping — you might be targeting a layer way up the stack.
OK, you can Ctrl click the layer if you removed the mask by Applying it, but it feels just plain wrong to me to throw a hard won selection in the dustbin.
