Quicktime missing transitions

Hello,
I have exported my 63 slide presentation to Quicktime. There is no audio in the original presentation, so I don't have to deal with that issue. I have exported the presentation to play back manually - i.e. a new transition when I click on the Quicktime movie. However, I am finding that when I play the Quicktime version of the presentation some of the transitions appear to be "jumped over". For example, within a slide I might have new bullet points appear after a click. Within the Quicktime version, say, the first two lines will appear at once (not expected action) and then the next two will appear on separate clicks (expected).
Thoughts?
David.

Really old software that hasn't been updated since version 3. There is a more modern version named "samplemakeeeffectmovie" that runs in OS X and I used it to make this file:

All I started with were still images. The "Pepto-Bismol" pink was supposed to be transparent but the effects couldn't handle transparency.

  • Quicktime missing

After Getting a new pc with windows 7 it will not allow iTunes to start.  Something about Quicktime missing yada yada yada.  I treid a couple of the suggested "tricks" and file naming whatnots but to no avail.  I even made sure that the compatability was "off" and then again to select Windows Vista Service Pack 2 as another thread suggested.  I eve tried to load iTunes 6 from a website but even THAT failed to load. HELP! My music is monopolized by Apple. -Mark

The most likley thing is a problem with the %Path% enviroment variable.
The location of Quicktime is normally the last item in the list.
Work computers often have a network path in the path variable and if that location is not available and it occurs before the loaction of Quicktime, iTune gives up looking for Quicktime.
The solution is to move the network location to after Qucktiem in the %Path% variable.
In order to check this, type
    cmd
into your search box and click cmd under Programs.
The black cmd window will open.
Next copy&paste the following into the cmd window and press return:
    echo %path% >documents\path.txt
This should create a file- path.txt - in your documents folder which you can look at in notepad. If you paste the result into your next post, I can take a look and see if there is an obvious problem.
Fixing the issue involves editing the path variable, but we will get to that if my supposition is correct.

  • Keynote Recorded Slideshow tends to "miss" transitions in playback and upon

From time to time, I read, in these discussion, some outstandingly derogatory comments about some of the Apple software. Although disappointed at times, I had never felt the level of frustration that seems to lead other users to those outbursts - until now. I've run into a problem that I have been unable to resolve, but according to all documentation, what I am trying to achieve is one of the features designed into the product.
Keynote seems to have a tendency to "miss" a transition during playback and/or export, such that the recorded audio becomes one transition ahead of the visual component of the presentation. There is no apparent consistency to this, as re-recording may find the "miss" at a different point in the presentation, and exporting it to QuickTime may see the "miss" in another spot altogether.
In some cases, the "miss" was an "On Click" transition. In other cases, the "miss" was an automatic (after transition/previous transition) transition or move, but always with zero delay. Let me re-phrase this - the transitions occurred correctly during the recording. It is in the playback or export of the recorded slideshow that the transition is subsequently "missed."
I moved the work from my dual G5 to my IC2D and re-recorded, but resolution was not found.
One might suggest the imbedding of audio in each slide, however, a really good show includes audio that "bridges" slides to improve the continuity of the presentation (or movie, which is the ultimate objective for this current project). Recording the audio externally (e.g. Garageband) takes considerable effort to marry the video with the audio in close synchronization.
I am seeking others who have had the same experience and who have found the elusive solution.

Just read your post and I appear to be having a similar problem with a trial version of '09. I just posted this on another topic.
"I'm trying out the '09 Version of Keynote and have made a great slideshow that I want to export to a Quicktime Movie. I have a soundtrack playing in time with transitions through the first portion, then a slide which contains a quicktime movie. Then a further 2 slides with one containing a short sound effect.
I've done this before on '08 so I'm sure I'm not doing anything wrong, but everytime I export to a movie the movie within the slideshow doesn't play.
I've recorded the slideshow to get all the timings in time with the music, I've tried setting ALL transitions to automatic and fined tuned them to match the music. Then recorded it and kept quiet.
This slideshow will play from start to finish with no input from me, but when I export it, the movie in the slideshow just remains on the first frame till the next transition happens.
I've even tried uploading straight to YouTube but the same occurs.
Help, is it a glitch in the software. I've had 3 movies playing within a slide before and successfully exported it in a movie in '08. What's wrong!!!
    Cheers for any feedback"

  • Exporting to Quicktime loses transitions

    Hello,
I'm using keynote 4.0.2 and if I create a hyperlink presentation with multiple slides and have transitions between them (whether it's disolve or cube or curtains, etc.) it appears that several of the transitions get lost. The link works, it just doesn't transition.
Playing the presentation within Keynote is fine and everything works flawlessly, just exporting it into Quicktimes seems to kill the transitions. I have videos within the presentation so I can't use any other export method.
    Any ideas?

Hey, that works out fine.. except now I'm having another issue!
When I click a link to jump a slide, it doesn't transition into the next slide automatically unless I right-click, and hit PLAY in quicktime.
So in Keynote, I have a link on slide 1, that'll jump to slide 6, which will then transition to slide 7. When I export to quicktime and play, I click on the link, it jumps to 6, but then it pauses, then I have to right-click and hit Play for it to transition to slide 7.
I checked the slide properties for 6, it's supposed to automatically go to 7 without requiring interaction from the user. It works within keynote, but not after I export to QT.
    I'm running the "hyperlinks" option.
    Any ideas?

  • Quicktime Pro transitions

How can I add fades etc to transitions between clips in a movie? I want to add two movie clips together and get a smooth transition between them. I've read the old stuff that says 'use other windows software to do transitions', but I find it hard to believe this obvious shortcoming hasn't been corrected in 7. Have tried exporting to windows moviemaker, but the quality of the movie gets seriously degraded. If I can't do it in Quicktime Pro, is there some other software I can export to successfully that will allow me to do this?

  • How do I remove missing transitions?

I have used this project file throughout the years, and I added some third party crud to it sometime in the last year.
In the ever-moving Creative Cloud, I suppose I should know better to have installed anything 3rd party.  Because they're gone, and I don't think I miss them.
The problem is whenever I start my project I get this little error message.  "Video Transition Missing: Impact Flash", etc.  I feel like they're saying: "We're not telling you where you have a problem, but it's somewhere in here."  I have upwards of 52 different timelines.  I don't have time to look at every one looking for a transition.
It's a slight annoyance, but how do I find where (in the timelines) that these transitions exist?  Or just remove them from the project file?  I know the simple solution would be to remove old timelines, but I'm an organized hoarder.  Leave me alone.
    Thanks in advance!

I'm saddened that this has been marked answered.  It isn't solved.
The EDL export method is clunky, at best, but there are three problems with EDL exports (as a method to find this thing):
    1. As noted a little while ago, you can only export one EDL at a time.
In my case I exported 44 EDL files.
    2. EDL's allow for only one set of VIDEO tracks.  So, if you're layering more than one asset in a video track, you have to export them.
In my case, I exported 44 EDL files four times.
    3. Transitions have inconsistent identities in EDL's.  W000 009 might be the transition I'm looking for because Premiere doesn't consistently ask for the EFFECTS NAME.
In my case, none of the EDL files contained the word "Flash" - so after I had searched (via Ctrl+F in every Notepad rendition of these .edl files) for an hour and half, I realized that I shouldn't be searching for the word "Flash", but a variation of "W000 ###"
Again, this is a typical problem of archiving hoarders.  The easiest thing would be to just ignore this or delete my archive.
But I don't feel like that's a solution, ya' know?

  • Quicktime missing software?

ok.......when trying to watch movies / video clips in quicktime i get this error coming up: "Some necessary QuickTime software is missing. It May be available on the Quicktime Website". So i went to the quicktime website
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html
and tried to download any / all of the plugins that didn't cost
when this happens the quicktime screen is just plain white....and on some occassions i can here the sound but there is no picture....
i have a g5 with the intel processor and im using the Quicktime that came with OSX 10.4 ..........i believe its version 7.0.3 or sumthing like that.......can someone PLEASE help me with this?

How to Identify the file*, video and audio** format of a movie or sound file
    In QuickTime Player
    Open the file
Window menu > Show movie info
    Look in the Format: field
Note that QuickTime Player may fail to display any audio information for some files.
    In MPlayer OSX:
Show the playlist window if it isn't already visible.
Drag the movie file into the playlist window.
Select the movie in the list
Click the "i" button for info
    In VLC
    Open the movie in VLC
    Window menu > Info
Click the black triangles so that they point down
Note that VLC does not display the file format, only the format of the content (audio and video) within the file. A file ending in .divx for instance, is probably in actuality an avi file but VLC doesn't show that information - MPlayer will and QuickTime Player will - if - QuickTime Player will open the file to begin with.
Post in this thread which file, video and audio format your movie(s) are and we'll help you look for a compatible component.

  • Plug-in for Mime files for QuickTime missing.

I've been trying to view certain videos and listen to streaming music and sometimes it works (never that well) and other times it doesn't. I'm using QT not WM and when it works the videos don't play in the viewer. They usually download to the desktop and then have to be manually played. When it doesn't work I get a small blue box with a question mark and the following statement:
The page has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”, but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp.
I can't find the correct plug-in(s) on the website. What should I do?

Hi Jeronimo and welcome to the forums!
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 or 7.4 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5.2, but please see my footnote).
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
The new RealPlayer Plus (v.11) is still in beta and therefore free, but works well on Tiger. It includes a download function, and you can get that here:
    http://uk.real.com/player/mac/
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS, but please see my footnote if you are running Leopard.)
In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2007-009.1.1, which also deals with the Quicktime/Flash issues you may have experienced, such as the '?'. What happened was that both Quicktime as well as Adobe FlashPlayer tried to play the Flash video at the same time. This no longer happens. (N.B. Security Update 2007-009 1.1 requires both a restart and a permission repair.)
If you get problems with viewing video on a website try moving this file to your Desktop:
    Hard drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
and then restarting Safari. If all now works, you can trash that file.
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
    FOOTNOTE
    If you are running Leopard:
Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player (v.9.0.115.0) conflicts with Leopard, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=1

  • Help, exporting to QuickTime misses two-thirds my movie

I have a 30 min. video done with FCE HD3.5.
When I export the project as a QuickTime movie only 11 minutes are exported successfully. (It's about in the middle of the project).
    The rest is ignored.
I've tried this a half-dozen times with every setting imaginable. Same result.
What in the world is happening to the rest of the movie?

Are there In and Out points marked in the sequence? That will be the exported area.

  • PNG codec in Quicktime missing (Mountain Lion)

I would like to know why Apple decided to omit the PNG codec from Quicktime under (Mountain) Lion.
There are lots of people in the video industry who use this codec for its lossless quality, AND even more important for its possibility to include an alpha channel.
This codec is hypervaluable to VJ's who need a fast decompressing codec while retaining a transparency in their clips.
Yes, there is the ANIMATION codec, which will also give you lossless quality with transparency, but for fast playback purposes this codec is way too processor-intensive and the filesizes are astronomical in comparison with what PNG used to offer.
Apple now decided to remove the PNG option.
Even worse: clips encoded with PNG will no longer play!
    Can someone tell me:
    A. What was Apple's motivation for removing this?
    B. Will it be available in an update of Compressor (which would effectively re-install the codec)?
    C. Is there a possibility to install the codec as a third party product?
It seems the guys in charge of the video (and professional) services at Apple have lost all connection with the real world these days.
Best example : FCPX (Pro? Really?)
Too many developers, not enough people with practical knowledge?

I would like to know why Apple decided to omit the PNG codec from Quicktime under (Mountain) Lion.
They didn't. (Can you capture a still image from your display screen? If so, in what compression format is the image stored?)
On my system the Animation codec is faster than PNG (i.e., processes more than twice as much data as PNG per unit time) but, as you noted, its greater use of available data bandwith does create much larger target files.
Apple now decided to remove the PNG option.
Even worse: clips encoded with PNG will no longer play!
While I am not a "VJ" nor do I normally use PNG to create motion clips, a quick check (created a 26.70 sec PNG test clip using QT 7 Pro) produced a PNG/AAC MOV file that plays in both QT X and QT 7 players. If you are having problems, perhaps you need to provide more information about your workflow to better understand what is going on.
    Can someone tell me:
    A. What was Apple's motivation for removing this?
    B. Will it be available in an update of Compressor (which would effectively re-install the codec)?
    C. Is there a possibility to install the codec as a third party product?
As previously indicated, the PNG compressor/decompressor is alive and well on my system. And even if it wasn't, you whould have to ask Apple regarding motivation issues as this is a peer-to-peer forum and anything said here would be pure speculation. As to a third-party PNG codec component, since it is alreldy built into the QT current default codec component configuration, I know of none nor does a quick Google check seem to reveal any (that are actually for the Mac).
Too many developers, not enough people with practical knowledge?
(Chuckling and shaking head) I am sometimes forced to agree with these sentiments.

  • Missing Transitions Preferences tab

Just editing, went to insert a transition and fcpx would not allow it.  I went to preferences to change the "Apply Transition using available media"  but the tab/choice to do this is not there anymore.  I did just update to 10.3 earlier.  Thanks for your help.  Here is what it looks like now:

    No image. Wasn't uploaded.
Yes, it's gone. Available media is the only option. If there isn't available media you'll get a warning and the option to shorten your project. Should have been like this from the beginning.

  • Quicktime missing....need to reinstall itunes

First post and would appreciate any help!
I deleted an older version of QT and installed a newer version. Now Itunes won't open and it tells me it can't find QT and "reinstall" new version of Itunes. If I do this, where will all my music in my library go? Do I uninstall the version of Itunes I have on my computer? I have 1500 songs and don't want to lose them! Would appreciate any help!!! thanks

QT is showing on my all programs in windows. Click to open and get error message: QT failed to initalize. Error # -2093. Please make sure QT is properly installed on this computer..
okay. it sounds like the upgrade of your QuickTime didn't go through properly.
let's try swapping it out, taking a few additional explicit precautions with the uninstall/reinstall..
first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
Now, download and save a copy of the QT 7.1.6 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1.6 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • "Quicktime missing components". Okay...

...so why doesn't it TELL us which components it needs to play a particular video instead of taking to a shopping list of all sorts of codec accessories, leaving us to guess which one it might be?

    AWESOME!
I updated Flip4Mac a little while ago. Now, files that previously would open with audio but no video, don't even open at all! In addition, files that previously opened fine--both video and audio--won't open at all!
    Get an "error -50" message.
You know, this is an example of why, some time ago, I stopped touting Apple's 'ease of use'.

  • Missing ADBE GPM Video Transitions in PE v7

I recently upgraded from PE v4 to PE v7. This was a new installation on a second PC. I then copied my PE v4 projects to the second PC that has PE v7 installed.
When I open any of my PE v4 projects with PE v7, I received an error message there are missing video transitions. The five missing video transitions are:
    (1) ADBE GPM PageCurlTran
    (2) ADBE GPM PageRollTran
    (3) ADBE GPM SphereTran
    (4) ADBE GPM CenterPeelTran
    (5) ADBE GPM SpiralFlipTrans
In PE v4, the 5 missing transitions were listed/grouped under the GPU Transitions category. However, in PE v7 I do not see the GPU Transitions category.
All five video transitions are shown in the PE v7 Plug-in Directory (plug-in\en_US), but for some reason they do not appear to be available in PE v7. The names listed in the plug-in directory are:
    (1) TransationGPUCenterPeel
    (2) TransitionGPUPageCurl
    (3) TransitionGPUPageRoll
    (4) TransitionGPUSphere
    (5) TransitionGPUSpiralFlip
I use these transitions often in my PE v4 projects. In one case Im trying to complete the project in PE v7, but there are over 40 times I used one of the five missing video transitions that I would have to replace.
I would like to use the GPM video transitions. Can you tell me why the transitions are listed in the plug-in directory but not available within the application? How can I get these five Adobe GPM video transitions to work in PE v7?

I don't know exactly what the file (plug-in) naming conventions are, but there are file name differences between the "missing" Transitions message, and the plug-in names.
I wonder if copying the old Transition files over would be of any use. In Pro, I had to work on a very old Project (P6.5 Mac) and two Transitions also did not migrate into CS2. I had a similar Transition in CS2 and made a copy of it outside of Pro. I then copied this same Transition (with the name in the error message) back to Pro and it worked fine. It had the right "stuff," just not the name that Pro was looking for, based on the Project file. The other had nothing even close, so I just replaced it with a Cross-dissolve. My guess is that it was either a 3rd party Transition, or something that had the name changed completely over the years. Might be worth a try. I'd keep a list of exactly what was copied over to PE7, so one could go in and clean out these Transitions, either when the job was done, or if they did not work.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS Hollywood FX Transitions will usually work in Premiere, even if they come from Pinnacle. One just has to change some file extension. Here the extensions are *probably* the same, but the names have been changed in the new version.

  • Having problem with FCP 5.1.4 adding transitions. Just new to this app.

    So I get 2 maybe 3 transitions set correct. After that none work properly. ie: lets go for the quicktime zoom transition. So as it zooms out it plays the first quarter of the 1st part of the transition in the zoom box. This is not correct it should be playing the second part of the transition. Anyway about 1/4 of the way through it does play the second half of the transition which is correct and plays the rest of it properly. It does the same for cross dissolve and all other transitions. I have trashed the preferences but that doesn't seem to help. I have also changed the preferences and that doesn't help. OS is 10.5.8; 6g of ram; powermac g5 quad core 2.5ghz;
    Please if anyone can help.
Below I entered FCP 6 because 5 was not available.

Just to clarify, by "FCP 5 friendly source material," he means video files that are a format (codec) that FCP 5 supports. What FCP 5 supports can be found in the EASY SETUP list. If the format you are working with isn't there, say if your footage is H.264 or MP4 or some other web compressed format, FCP won't work properly.  It needs to be in an editing codec if you want FCP 5 to work with it.
Also, you need to make sure that your sequence settings match the settings of the footage you are trying to edit. If you add a clip to the sequence, and immediately have to render, that's a big clue to say that something isn't right. You should edit without rendering at all.
The most important thing you need to do is properly set up your project from the start, and the best way to do this is to choose a setting from the Easy Setups, located under the Final Cut Pro menu. Once you do this, you’ll need to create a new sequence.  This is because the sequence that is already in your new project is setup for the typical default setting of DV/NTSC, or for the settings of your last project, which might not match what you are currently working with.  So delete SEQUENCE 1 and create a new sequence:
This new sequence will contain the settings you chose in the Easy Setup menu, and should match the format you captured
