Quicktime movies in iWeb??

I want to include a lot of movies in my site I have presently 8 of them but when you go to the page they all have to load. Is their a way to create a button or link to a file that will open the movie in a specific section of the page and when another link or button is hit the other mowie will play in the same area? To prevent the loading of all the movies or the visitor playing them all at once.
Thanks
Guy

How large is the file size?
My guess is over a gigabyte and that is just not practical for Web use.
If the large QuickTime icon appears on the page for more than 30 seconds I would also guess that the file has lost its "fast start" properties. That would mean that the entire file must download before playback could begin. With such a huge file that could take a day to download.
Save As using QuickTime Pro will fix the fast start feature.

  • Uploading Quicktime Movies to iWeb

I've exported a photo slideshow with music to Quicktime movie format, but even though I've selected the small size file, when I try to upload it to iWeb, I get a message saying that the file's too big. I can't figure out how to make it any smaller, and it already looks to me like the quality is compromised -- the pictures are blurry in the smaller file size, and I'd like people to be able to view it in a larger window. Suggestions? Thanks!

Just because iWeb says your file is too big does mean that you can't use it. It just means that it will take longer to download for the end user.
The file size selected as being "too big" is arbitrary. It really all depends on the speed of the internet connection used to download the file.
The best thing to do is publish it and see for yourself if it takes too long to download.
One of the things you can do is to put a text introduction on the same page for viewers to read while the movie downloads. As long as people have something to hold their attention they will wait a bit longer.

Anyone having problems posting movies in iWEB. I
posted a few nad when I launch the site it won't
    platback.
I have. I posted a topic on it and haven't gotten any suggestions. Movies, audio and video will work fine on the .Mac site, but won't work on the non-mac site. 1.01 worked fine on both but since upgranding I haven't been able to figure out the problem. Here are the addresses:
    http://www.salemcityfire.com
    http://web.mac.com/jpelura3
the "Test" page is a small audio file. The "Movies" page is a rather large file. The Fire Calls page has some audio too, that's more like a podcast.
I would appreciate any help and am not sure if the OP is publishing to .Mac or another site.

  • Nobody can watch my quicktime movie in iweb!!

I made two movies in iMovie and imported them directly into iWeb. I can watch them on my website and so can the apple tech people, but most importantly my professor cannot! I am the only one using a mac for this class - does anyone know if this could be a glitch between PC/mac? Or has anyone else had this kind of trouble with Quicktime 7.0.4???
I'm frantic cuz it's for my final that was due on Friday!!!! TIA
    Vicki

It could be that you are using the latest and greatest video codec called H.264 to encode your movies and your professor's PC doesn't have the latest version of QuickTime 7 to be able to decode the movie. This usually results in a blank white movie frame with audio.
Two choices depending on which might be easier given your individual situation... Get your prof to upgrade his QuickTime player to the latest from Apple... or ... reencode your movie with anything other than H.264 if you know how to do that. Good luck!

  • Optimizing Quicktime Movies for iWeb 08- HOW?

    Hello,
Question about converting a movie I made for my web site uploading to my .Mac account - using iWeb 08.
When the full quality movie is open in Quicktime Pro, and you click on export for web, you get this info box saying this:
In the same folder as this instructional HTML file, QuickTime Pro has placed various versions of your movie optimized for web-delivery. Also in that folder is a reference movie, which selects the best version for your users' various devices and connection speeds. By including this reference movie in your HTML page, you can ensure a quality video experience on your site.
THEN IT GOES ON TO SAY...
Use the following HTML code to embed your movie into your web page.
    Important Notes:
•To make your media viewable on the internet, your media assets (movies, poster image) must be placed on a publicly accessable server.
•The URL parameters must be modified if your media assets are served from a different location than your web page.
•The movie URL parameters must always point to the reference movie (Fluid-Cam Test.mov) rather than a source movie.
•The reference movie must be kept in the same folder as the source movies.
•Source movie names cannot be changed, but you can change the name of the reference movie (remember to change it in the HTML code as well).
•Please note, to properly validate as XHTML, the <style> tag and the first <script> tag should be placed within your page's <head> tag.
•Use this code in the <head> of your web page:
(AND THEN THERE IS A BUNCH OF CODE AFTER ALL THIS- WHICH I DIDN'T BOTHER TO TYPE HERE OF COURSE)
There are no instructions (that I can find) explaining where this code goes, which optimizes your movie for various formats. You can't drag and drop this whole folder into an iWeb Movie page.
So where do you copy and paste this code in iWeb, that Quicktime creates from your movie?
    Any input is appreciated!
    Thanks!

Best way I know is to put the movie into Iphoto, select it, go to "share" and choose to iweb. It will go straight to a new page in iweb which you can rename and include in your site.

  • How do I make quicktime movies Fullscreen in iWeb?

How do I make quicktime movies Fullscreen in iWeb? Can anyone help me please?

You have to create a QTL file that opens the QT movie in the player. Based on the settings it opens in Full Screen.
You may want to read this:
    [QuitTime Tutorials and more|http://www.apple.com/quicktime>
[Launching QuickTime Player from a Text Link |http://developer.apple.com/documentation/QuickTime/QT4WebPage/samplechap/speci al-11.html]
An alternative is to publish your movies to Vimeo and embed the movie in your page. These movies can play full screen.
Or use DivX of Flash Video.

  • Resizing Quicktime Movies for use in iWeb + published to .mac

    Hey everyone,
I have some home movies I want to post on my .mac website but the files are just too big. The movies are already in Quicktime format from my camera. It just takes forever to upload and forever to download when you view the site.
How do I go about dropping the file size of my quicktime movies? Any suggestions should be helpful.
    Thanks

Smart move to get QT Pro! It will now be possible to do this:
When exporting From iMovie or Final Cut, the expert settings choices can be daunting to understand. Here's a simple solution. Whenever you find a QT video online that has the download arrow (down facing arrow) at the far right of the play time line and you're impressed by the quality you see, once the movie has fully loaded, click on that arrow.
With QT Pro you'll see a drop down menu appear that offers 'Save as Source' or 'Save as QuickTime Movie'. Usually either choice gives you the same type of file. Save to your desktop . Then open and play. As the movie plays, go to the Quicktime menu at the top of your screen and choose from 'Window' ...Show Movie Info. Eureka! There are almost all the settings used to create that movie
To keep a photo record of this movies settings (if you don't keep the movie) line the player and the info window side to side and do a Apple key+Shift +4 targeted picture snap. Store the pic you just created in an iPhoto folder labeled 'QT Info Pics' as a later reference. In fact, Apple key+ Shift + 4 (targeted) or Apple key + Shift + 3 (Full Screen capture) used with 'Get Info' windows and iPhoto storage is a great quick & easy record keeping system.
    Have fun!

PSS Once dragged to an iWeb page you can alter the physical size (reasonable amount) of your movie while file size stays the same.

  • IWeb Published Quicktime Movie Won't Play in Safari. Only Quicktime Logo Shows.

I created a movie using iMovie and, after publishing my movie, using iWeb, to my MobileMe account, I visit the site using Safari, and can only see the Quicktime logo instead of my movie. When I use Firefox to view the page I created, it shows fine. I'm all up to date on my software and OS.
Any help you can offer me? It seems like all the Apple pieces aren't working well together.
All my other published movies still work fine. It's just this most recently-published one that won't show correctly.

    Hello to you all.
Translation excuse my English, I unfortunately can not do better. I have the same problem as you, I created a site for our travels in Brazil and I put videos on a page:

Avenida jazz, Jazz avenida2 and Muritiba.
They are compressed in H.264 .mov. Only one works well on my macbook leopard snow and air ipad ios8. The two other Jazz and Jazz2 run on iPad but not macbook. Sometimes I succeeded, but this is very rare. Can anyone tell me please what I should do or not do?
    Thank you to you.

  • HD quicktime movie create page with iweb and host externally?

    I made a 3
min HD movie the file is 1.5gig I have an account with
blue host that allows me 300gigs of space. I uploaded the movie no problem.
Now i want to make a web page with a link to that movie using iweb.
So in other words i design the simple page on i web and than upload it to
bluehost. How do I size a quicktime movie to be the correct size example
852x480? on the templates the movies are to small?

How did you fit a 1.5GB file into 300MB's of space?
What viewer is going to wait two or three hours (weeks on dial-up) to view a 3 minute file?
Your best solution is to link to file and let your viewers download it. Just use the complete URL as your link.

  • Viewing iWeb Quicktime movies on PC

    Greetings,
I've posted several Quicktime movies on my iWeb site and am getting reports from most of the PC users who've tried to view them that the movies won't open. I know that Quicktime 3 or later is needed. Is there any other advice I could give PC users toward viewing these movies?
    Thanks!
    BnB

Yes, Quicktime 3 is wayyyyyyy outdated.
Post a hyperlink on your web page with this link
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
add hyperlinks on you site in iweb easily by highlighting your text-
    then menu>
    insert>
    hyperlink>
    webpage>
the inspector will open on the right hand side of your screen
first drop down menu should say link to "external page"
second input your full web page link in the next text box
    repeat as needed.
    Good Luck

  • Quicktime 7 Screen movie in iWeb '09

Is there a way to include a Quictime 7 Screen Movie in iWeb '09?
I tried dragging the file onto the page I want it to appear and exported the changes but on the actual page it just shows the "Q" marker.
I then tried uploading the actual movie file to the directory that goes with the page and even the root of the site. Neither would allow me to view the site from the site.
    Any ideas?

  • QuickTime Movie File-Uploads on iWeb but no playback on the internet

    Hello, Forum Techies,
Always trying to go beyond and want a movie clip on my website,  but I may have met my match
I have the following QuickTime Movie file uploaded to the web page as noted below.
The file extension is MVI_038-#3-13. The file size is 663.8 Mbs
The website space is 1 GB using 10 Mbs upload speed.
The movie clip does not play on the website.
Question arising: I believe the space is sufficient on the website, but not sure if it this is a internet speed issue? I have other movies mounted successfully on another website, but their file size is not a huge and the webspace is not as much.
Therefore, I am curious to know if it is an internet speed issue?
Here is the URL for the page that I have included the movie clip:
    http://thebigbenmemorialtrail.ca/Backgrounder_Trail_Scouting.html
It's a well visited site internationally and because it is a major project in our County, documenting the construction of a new trail is an interesting feature to include on this website.
Hope there is a solution. And, YouTube is not an alternative because for some strange reason I cannot get signed on no matter what efforts have been made with Google and I am not able to find a channel that applies to this kind of a movie, which is not entertainment, musical, etc. It's an information-based movie.
    Thanks!

    This is the movie :
    http://thebigbenmemorialtrail.ca/Media/MVI_0368-%233-13.MOV
It's not an extension, it's the filename. Sanatize it.
    Size = 632MB (Megabyte)
    663.8Mbs = Megabits per seconds = speed
    Videosize = 1280 x 720px
Filesize after download = 10.3MB (download stops at this size)
    Nobody will wait for this.
Resize you movie to something smaller ie. width x height = smaller filesize.
    Use common sense.

  • How can I export a graphic slide with a quicktime movie from Keynote?

I export a title slide with a quicktime movie from Keynote to my desktop and it plays fine with audio. Once I insert or drag the clip into iWeb the resolution is degraded and very choppy. The resolution is 320x200 and I'm exporting from Keynote as a custom size (320x200) Frame rate: 29.97 Key Frames: Automatic Key Reordering is checked Data Rate: Automatic Quality: Multi pass. I need some help.

how large is the video and if you publish - does it still have the same horrible quality?
you might considering exporting as flash (loads faster) and integrating that into your iweb site using post-editing: http://karreth.com/index.php/articles/iframes-iweb/

  • Using a small quicktime movie as a button (a hyperlink)?

Could anyone tell me if I could use a small quicktime movie as a button? iWeb seems to not let simply select the hyperlink checkbox for a quicktime movie. I would like to be able to allow my site visitor to click on an animating image (I exported from keynote) to take them to a different page.

Insert a Shape and re-size & position it to cover the movie. In the Inspector > Graphic tab, set the Opacity of the Shape to 0%. Then hyperlink that transparent Shape.

  • Adding a movie in iWeb using a movie template.

I wanted to add a small QuickTime movie to my web site.
I added a movie template page to the site and then dropped the movie to the box. In iWeb, I am able to click on the play button and the movie plays just fine. But when I publish the site and upload it, where the movie should be is just a Q for QuickTime.
So then I made a plain box with the enable as a hyperlink and a link to the movie. Just like I would to do a pdf file.
My question is how do I get the movie page to work? It looks better with the movie page.
    Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

you cant make changes to released template, if you do also, new changes wont be shown
    Please refer the note 888650
