Quicktime movies in Movie Maker for Windows XP

I would like to use parts of the videos I purchased from iTunes in my movie maker for pleasure, not for selling or anything like that.
But Movie Maker won't accept them.
Is there a way I can do this? If I purchase Quicktime Pro will I be able to download MPeg4 movies(Quicktime) to my Movie Maker.
Thanks for any help

windtalker64, if it's a .mov you cannot take it into movie maker, it has to be converted to a .avi for movie maker to accept it. I used QT pro to convert a .mov to a .avi, took it into movie maker and it then became a .wmv, which is what I was trying to do. I'm going back 3 years ago when I did this so unless things have changed?

    Try Mixing Down the audio before export.

  • Quicktime Pro 7.6.5 for Windows - Chapter Tracks problem - Preloading?

    Hi there,
    I have Quicktime Pro 7.6.5 (which is the latest I believe) for Windows and I'm trying to add a chapter track. I'm using Apples tutorial at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials… and I'm up to step 10. In my Other Settings tab under chapters all I have for options is "none" (see? http://i50.tinypic.com/30958wk.jpg) which means there is no properties popup and I can't make it preload.
    Please help? As I'm on Windows I can't use Garageband or whatever, the only programs I have is the CyberLink DVD suite, Windows Movie Maker (for Vista if that matters) and some form of muvee, though I dunno which one.. I also have Showbiz 2 on a disc somewhere.
    Thanks
    (PS: to get this straight, it will work on a DVD right? If I put a chapter track on then burn to DVD when I put the DVD in my player the chapter track will come up?)

    QuickTime Pro does not play .wmv files. It doesn't export them without some other third party software.
    Try reading the steps and supported file formats before your complain about what it does, or doesn't, do.

  • Error in Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

    Hello Everyone,
    I am a regular user of I-tunes but recently i dont know why but I got some error in Launching I-tunes. So as recomonded by "Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7" section. I started removing the products. But after removing Quick time, I tried to remove Apple Software Update but while uninstalling it gave error that "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." and the uninstall rollbacks.
    Please send me a feasible solution to this problem.
    Thank You.

    Uninstalling the iCloud control panel should allow you to do that folder deletion.

  • I have Windows 8.1 and just bought the quicktime mpeg-2 playback component for windows and it won't install. I currently have Quicktime Pro.

    I need to run Quicktime Pro and playback DVD with mpeg-2 content for school. I just downloaded Quicktime Pro, and purchased the quicktime mpeg-2 playback component for Windows, but I can't download it at all. Is this because my PC is running Windows 8.1?
    If so, is there anything I can do?

    What do I do?
    You actually have several options. However, since you specifically want to use it it with MPEG Streamclip, the easiest approach would be to download the MPEG Streamclip "Beta" package for the Mac which includes a utility app that will help install the QT MPEG-2 Playback component on Lion and later operating systems. Instructions and background info can be found HERE under the "Lion/Mountain Lion and MPEG-2 Playback Component" tab.

  • Quicktime movie rendering for time lapse does not work in CS4

    Hey guys,
    I m trying to render a time lapse video on PS CS4 and the process works well up until the export window. When i go there the first option under file options, quick time export, is unavailable( grayed out). The only available option is Image sequence. What do i have to do to enable the quicktime movie creation or any other movie format for that matter? Thank you.

    Welcome to the forum.
    For PS CS4, I assume that you have PS-Extended. Is that correct?
    What OS/platform?
    Do you have Apple's QT installed on that computer? If so, what version?
    Good luck,

  • What quicktime movie settings for use in Logic

    Hi, I'm working on a 50 track mix of a live gig which was also filmed and I have to work to picture. I was advised to ask the video editor to give me the following:
    Quicktime Sorenson codec (or Sorenson3). Limit data rate to 500 kbps, 320 x 240.
    But, working with this quality of movie makes it hard to really see if all my audio is in sync especially when the lighting is low in certain shots. It's too pixelated if I try to blow it up to see better. The editor is in France and he has to upload the files etc and I want to get better quality from him but I need to know what the highest quality movie I can run with my set up without wasting the editors time by outputting and uploading something which Logic won't work with. Anybody got any ideas. There's nothing in the manual that I can see that discusses Quicktime resolution/quality.
    thanks
    Mark

    Using Quicktime Pro, convert your movie to PhotoJPEG format (.mov), and use that version in Logic for best sync and small filesize.

  • Movie Maker in Windows 7

    Although it doesn't come with any version of Movie Maker, I copied all the folders from other systems onto an external drive, didn't register any DLLs, and checked them in Windows 7 by opening the executable from Win7.
    At my first found of checks, they all work... I now have 5 versions of Movie Maker running in Windows 7
    MM1 from the first version of XP
    MM2.1 from XP MCE
    MM2.6 from Vista Home Basic
    MM6 from Vista Home Basic
    Windows Live Movie Maker and Photo Gallery from Vista Home Basic

    I'm not currently running MM6 under Windows 7 so I can't test it.... I'm working with MM2.1 on it, along with Windows Live Movie Maker beta.....  Here's a copy of tip #3 on my website's Vista > Publish Movie page...
    3 - In addition to the standard choices, custom profiles can be used as in MM2. Most of them can be simply copied from an XP system to the same folder in Vista (... Movie Maker\Shared\Profiles) and used without revision. Create the folder if it isn't there. See the Save Movies > Custom WMV Profiles page for more info and some downloadable profiles.
    Create or edit profiles with the same Profile Editor used in XP. Those from the Expression Media Encoder will also work.
    I have HD quality custom profiles for download... see the Save Movies > Custom WMV Profiles page.
    PapaJohn www.papajohn.org
    But MM6 that comes with Windows Vista already has the HD profiles PapaJohn, and I'd much prefer to use the ones that were in my prior package than have to create my own.  The method you gave works with MM2.1 in Vista, but does not work with the Vista MM, either running in Vista or in W7 OS. There has to be a way to incorporate the Vista MM6 profiles into the W7 environment if they can just be located.  They are not in the Movie Maker folder that comes with Vista, so there must be a .dll file in the System32 folder or somewhere that has the magic bullet.

  • Quicktime movie in separate window - how?

    Hello:
    2 part question...
    I am wanting to have a quicktime movie open in a separate window - that opens in addition to the homepage AND I want that window to display the movie only at 320 x 240.
    Is this possible and how do you do it?
    thanks!

    Hi James thanks for the recommendation.
    I apologize I haven't updated my site in a while (I've been studying for the Apple Certification Exams)
    This code should acheive the desired feature:
    STEP ONE: Paste this code into the HEAD of your HTML document
    <HEAD>
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    <!-- Begin
    closetime = 0; // Close window after __ number of seconds?
    // 0 = do not close, anything else = number of seconds
    function Start(URL, WIDTH, HEIGHT) {
    windowprops = "left=50,top=50,width=" + WIDTH + ",height=" + HEIGHT;
    preview = window.open(URL, "preview", windowprops);
    if (closetime) setTimeout("preview.close();", closetime*1000);
    function doPopup() {
    url = "<b><a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://YourPop-upURLHere.com">http://YourPop-upURLHere.com</a></b>";
    width = 320; // width of window in pixels
    height = 240; // height of window in pixels
    delay = 0; // time in seconds before popup opens
    timer = setTimeout("Start(url, width, height)", delay*1000);
    // End -->
    </script>
    STEP TWO: Insert the onLoad event handler into your BODY tag
    <BODY OnLoad="doPopup();">
    <!-- Script Size: 1.27 KB -->
    Play around with that code and see what you can come up with!

  • Quicktime.mov file to Windows media file?

    Question what is the best settings to convert a Quicktime.mov file (40mb) done in HD 1080i wide formate to a windows media file so I can send in an email for review. I use FCE 3.5.1 apple G5 computer, I'm not sure of the settings in FCE for output to compres the file, I know it won't look very good it is just for a review of content
    Regards
    Merlote

    The settings will depend in part on how small you need to get the file. And exactly what format you want to use. Are you talking Windows Media literally (wmv) or just something that will open on a windows machine (such as mp4)

  • Can a QuickTime movie play for more than 60 seconds per page

    Can a Quicktime movie be set to play for more than 1 minute per page in Keynote. I have clips that run up to 3 minutes. For now I have pulled the clip into 3 different pages and set the times to match but I get a 10 second delay between the pages that is very distracting.

    Yes I am trying to set up an automatic transition after the movie has played. I have still photos between the movies. I want the entire presentation to be self running. I did use the special builds in and out and have the action set at none. The movie clip will not run more than 60 seconds?

  • Quicktime 7.0.2.120 for Windows only crashes...

    I've installed the latest version of Quicktime (7.0.2.120 with itunes 5.0.1) but whenever I try to launch the quicktime player I get:
    QuickTime Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience...etc...
    Under Microsoft error reporting is this:
    AppName: quicktimeplayer.exe      AppVer: 7.0.2.120      ModName: quicktimeplayer.exe
    ModVer: 7.0.2.120      Offset: 0006162a
    I've had the same issue with previous versions of quicktime 7 but hoped it would be sorted out with the non-beta version. Anything above quicktime 6.5.2 doesn't work.
    I'm running XP SP2
    Any suggestions?

    Well, I think this one definitely falls into the Quicktime bug category as opposed to driver issues, etc. It was a convoluted path to figuring this out but here it is:
    The crash I described when loading the Quicktime player occurs only if the C: drive (or probably whatever drive Quicktime was installed to) has a volume name of greater than 28 characters. If the volume name is shortened to 28 characters or fewer the player loads just fine.
    However, if you attempt to play a Quicktime movie residing on another drive which has a volume name of greater than 28 characters, you'll get this error, "Error -2000: a necessary data reference could not be resolved". Again, shortening the volume name of the drive where the file is located to <= 28 characters resolves this issue and the movie will play fine.
    That being said, I'd have to say I'm not terribly impressed with this effort. There are some other minor bugs like if you move the player window while a movie is playing, the window edges around the video do not get properly refreshed. But the performance issues are what really disappoint. It just doesn't seem to perform very well and upscaling movies larger than their native resolution looks really bad. I had higher hopes with all this HD talk, but playback of one of the sample movies from the gallery at 480p looks more like a slideshow than a movie. And even the slideshow, when stretched to fullscreen, has lots of visible compression artifacts. To be fair, my system doesn't meet the requirements Apple lists, but those are pretty steep. Good old mpeg2 or divx/xvid video encoded at lower resolution and stretched to fullscreen look a lot better on my system. Maybe on a higher-end system that wouldn't be the case...

  • Problems installing QuickTime 7 with iTunes 6 for Windows XP

    I am encountering problems with the latest version of QuickTime (version 7.0.3) together with iTunes 6.
    Installation is fine except at the end when I receive an error message saying ’1628: Failed to complete installation’. It appears that both programmes have been installed and work but I am unable to uninstall them. Neither program appears in the Add/Remove programs list when they should be. If I select ‘Uninstall QuickTime’ from the Program list the uninstalation process starts but stops half way through.
    I have tried downloading QuickTime standalone version but this is exactly the same. I removed the QuickTime folder, and all its contents, from C:\Program Files\QuickTime and installed the previous version (6.5.2) which installs and uninstalls fine.
    I am at a loss as to why the latest version is causing problems.
    Would appreciate any help or advice as to why this is happening?
    Thanks
