Quicktime Movies - The audio plays but the video is completely messed up

Hi.
I have QuickTime V7.2 and my OS is XP.
All of a sudden QuickTime started playing back QuickTime movies with no video - there is just a lot of flickering green and purple - however the audio is there. Oddly, the files used to play fine. They were made on my PC as QuickTime movie files. The sound is there. (Additionally the files play ok in Realplayer.)
I've searched techy support but can't find an answer. Any ideas what is wrong?
I made the files on movie editing software called ULead, and as I said, they used to play fine.

A very similar and, I suspect, related problem. I created .mov files on my Mac, they play fine on the Mac, the audio plays but flickering video on my PC. I suspect it has something to do with the codecs used. Anyone have an idea as to how to make them compatible?

What you could do now is break up your video into smaller parts and render them out, then assemble them again as a whole.
I know this is not the best fix, but it might work.
You can duplicate an edit in the main screen, then delete the last bits and export,
do the same for the other half.
Then import the two bits (or more if you need) in a new edit.
Out of curiosity, can you post what format the video is in?
Copy a video straight from the camera to your computer.
Open it in Quicktime player, and with out playing type Apple + i
or Control + i for PCs
It should tell you lots of info about the video, and might help us to see what is wrong.

I purchased these music videos from i-tunes, in the past I just had to go into "Music" on the I-pad and select "music videos" then the one I wanted to play and it would just start playing with video. I am trying to project a film from an ipad mini with a vga cable to a projector. When tested, the film played, but the ipad did not mirror what was being projected, it was a black screen. I am trying to be able to mirror the devices AND figure out how isolate the window so I can use different menus with the film still playing.
Any one know an app or softward that i can use?

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
and select the Library that you moved. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
Your first option didn't work because you imported one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
Your second option didn't work because you simply referenced her library on the old machine.

HT1657 my movie won't play, but the 24 hour timer is running

I started downloading a movie, and received a message that my movie ws ready to view. When I attempted to watch it, it would not play, but the 24 hour timer is running. What do do to get the movie to play and get the full 24 hours to watch it?

Hi Steve - have you renamed the 'file' (actually a 'package' which can be opened with Control-Click), or a file within that package? If the latter, you may have lost the link to the Media folder.
If the former, it will have created a new project - you will find the originally-named project in iMovie's Trash. In fact it should have asked you about it.
I don't know if re-naming has been the cause of the problem you have though.
Try doing a 'Save As' with a new name and see it that new project works.
If not, open the 'package, click on Show Package Contents, and then go Shared Movies>iDVD and try opening the .mov file there.
If that plays, it hopefully can be imported into a new project - as one long clip.

I'm using the latest FCP and I've imported .Mov files which I've run through compressor so they all have H.264 at the end, however when I play them, the video stays still; only when I pause it does it jump ahead. The audio runs fine.
Am I supposed to run this through Compressor again (ie. I did it wrong)? Or is it just a settings thing?

I have a Flip and that takes video in .MP4; when I brought that into FCP it had a similar scenario play out so I assumed that I was supposed to have it as .MOV so I went to compressor to do that. I don't use Compressor often (read: ever) and I selected the one thing that said quicktime which also said H.264.

When watching videos in my library, the sound cuts out and it freezes. After a few minutes, the audio returns but the scenes are choppy. Any help?

I have updated Itunes and quicktime and it still does this. I have taken my laptop to get checked, but it seems to be just iTunes that is messing up.

Why would the audio play through the headphones but not the speakers?

I am working on an app that has embedded video. The audio works fine through my speakers and headphones as it does for some of my coworkers, but I also have other coworkers who get audio through the headphones but not the speakers. It's a variety of devices, 4, 4S, and 5. Any thoughts?

Keeping the audio flow, but changing video scenes

Okay, so I did an interview of sorts. A friend sitting by a window. As he speaks, I want to fade out of one scene and into another, then another, and so on. the back to him.. then fad out into another scenes. but keep the audio in sink so when I go back to him... for some reason I cant seem to insert a new scene without disrupting the audio. Yes, what I gave you will work. Let me describe what these steps do in another way and see if you agree. The scenario, you have 20 minutes in one long clip of a person reading news just like watching TV. Five minutes in they read a story about Cuba, while the long clip continues, temporarily the view of the person reading is replaced by a map image though you still hear audio and when the map "cutaway" is over the 20 min. clip is just continuing unabated. There's no limit (I know of) to adding cutaways throughout the 20 minute video.
Note that you do have to have Advanced Options enabled to do this, Preferences>General: Show Advanced Tools

Audio plays, but no video on all projects & events

I am running iMovie '09 & I have imported video from my DV camcorder. in the event library, I see the frame thumbnails, but if I move the mouse over them, they turn black & when I mouse off it, the picture comes back. If I hit play on an event or a project, all I get is a black screen, but the audio is perfect. It's almost as if iMovie left the lens cap on!
What could be causing this? I can provide screen caps if that would be helpful at all.

I have a similar problem. I'd finished a project, used the transition editor to get rid of an "um" and now the entire video part won't play -- audio only.
If I could revert to the original version, I could live with the stupid UM, but I can't even figure out how to get to there.

I watch a live service online and it was working just fine. Then I went to watch it and I could hear the audio, but not see the video. It just shows a black screen, yet I can hear it. I updated flash player and I can see the flash video thing on the website and it says flash player installed. The live video is using Flowplayer and I have Mac OSX. I downloaded the correct flash player for Mac OSX too.

Yes, disabling hardware accelaration I have no problem with flash player.

Try updating to QuickTime 7.7.3. (That has helped a few people who were getting that when trying to play the videos with version 7.7.2.)
