Quicktime mp3 into iTunes

I found an audio file on a web site. When I click the link, it plays the link on Safari through QT. I want to import this mp3 into my iTunes. Anyone with any help would be greatly appreciated.

In order to burn a disc from within iTunes, you need to create a playlist to burn from.
Click the +(plus) sign at the bottom left-hand side of the iTunes window - this will create an 'Untitled playlist 1' in the list above these buttons.
Then drag the file you want to add to this playlist from the music library window, and drop it onto the playlist. When you move the pointer over the playlist, it should highlight it and add a green plus icon to your pointer.
When you have added all the files you want to the playlist, just click on the playlist name in the list at the left-hand side of the iTunes window, and click the 'Burn Disc' button which is at the bottom right-hand side of the window.

  • Can't import mp3s into itunes

Hi, I was just importing videos and mp3s into itunes, and it suddenly won't let me import any mp3s into itunes.
What can I do to fix it?
    thanks

hmmmm. does there seem to be any size limit on the number of files you can transfer?
(say, by way of experiment, does a single file add when dragging and dropping, or if you use add file to library?)

  • How do I transfer music from Sony MP3 into itunes

I have had an old sony MP3 which died and got an Ipod Touch for xmas. I have read the instructions on how to install music from computer into Itunes but it is not working.
    Any ideas

    Hi Tracey.
One of the simplest methods of importing existing music files into iTunes is to open iTunes, and use the File | Import... menu option. You can then browse to where your music is currently stored, and select the entire folder, or individual files. iTunes will then inspect these files, copy them into the iTunes library, and then report any problems or issues encountered.
Can you tell us where the process of getting your existing MP3s into iTunes seems to be falling down?

  • Can't drag anymore mp3 into ITunes version 11.1.138

I now have ITunes Version 11.1.138 but I used to have an earlier version 8 before. At that time I was able to simply drag an mp3 (from whichever pc file)  into  Itunes which also inserted the same mp3 into my 160G Classic IPod. Now with ITunes Version 11, it no longer works. Now I have to click in ITunes File tab>Add File to Library = Only then will the mp3 go to Itunes and IPod.
But that's not the end of it.
I now have an additional file in Computer/Local Disk C/ Ipod Music  with so far 46.3GB which I don't need since the mp3 are already in other Mp3 files.
Also this new IPod music file creates a new sub-file every time I insert an mp3 in ITunes & IPod.  The worst thing is the sub-file is identified by a title like F00 - F01-F02  and on and on. Each of these sub-files  (when I open them) show the track simply by 4 letters like CHOO or JDWT as example; thus no title or description like I have for all my mp3s  ie., ''Gary Peacock - Tales of Another - 01 - Vignette''
In other words I can't even Identify them anymore.
Am I doing something wrong or is this the new M.O. ?
Help please and Happy Holidays to All with Yours.

    Hello Ed,
Re:  your 2nd question:  If you mean taking the Gary Peacock mp3 and copy it to the Library Itune Folder = no problem. The full mp3 listing is properly shown.
But if you mean going to ITunes and ''Automatically Add to ITunes'' folder I can't see any such tab in ITunes tabs or sub-tabs.
Re: your 1st comment: Not seeing that phenomenon...... quite strange on my part. it does not insert by dragging.
I even tried to go back to an earlier version installation (after uninstalling version 11 and cleaning  registry) and I'm getting a message that it's now impossible to go back to an earlier version. Can you beleive this.
Yours truly, an old 78yrs old geezer with puter experience is bewildered for a first time and embarrassed.
I'm tempted to delete that Ipod Music file of some 46.3GB but am afraid to loose all music in my Ipod which is not connected at the moment.
I have now connected my IPod to my puter and tried dragging an mp3 file to Itunes it still does not work.

  • OPT Drag MP3 into iTunes broken with iTunes 12?

Prior to version 12, I could hold OPTION and drag an MP3 into the itunes library. It would then be automatically copied to the itunes media folder.
Now when I do OPTION>drag and drop, or regular drag and drop, or go "File>Add to library"....the mp3 is added but from it's current location. It is NOT copied into itunes media.
How do I drag new songs in and have the automatically added to iTunes Media?

    addelsol wrote:
Thanks. Sure enough, this method still works.
Odd that nothing exists for drag-and-drop onto the app though.
Dragging an MP3 file into the open iTunes window is working normally for me in iTunes 12, although I have seen a few posts on this forum from people where it is not.
Luckily, using the Automatically Add to iTunes folder seems to work.

  • Help with importing mp3s into iTunes

Hi, I'm running the newest version of iTunes and having problems loading mp3s into the library in correct order. I'm not sure how the mp3s i want to import are tagged, but when i import them, iTunes arranges them automatically by song name (alphabetically) and loses the track order.
    1) how do i import them keeping the same track order (in future)?
    2) how can i re-order the existing ones i've imported into the library already as efficiently as possible (without going into the 'get info' option and adding track numbers for each of the separate tracks (i have several thousand like this - they are mainly live concerts)?
Many thanks for any help, its much appreciated!

You don’t say quite enough to be sure if I am being helpful or how much you know, but …
Start in the library window with browse on and select an album. (Click on the little eye, upper right of screen if you don’t see the browser).
You can then use “Get info” to inspect some of your imported tracks for that album. If you click on the info tab, you should see a field for track number. If you have a correct track number in this field, you should be able to sort by track number.
If you don’t see a Track # column to sort on, you and bring it into view by right clicking on the header row (Name, Artist, Album etc) and then checking Track number.
You can sort on any column by clicking the header.
I ripped all my CDs with Free Realplayer and imported the tracks into iTunes when I got an iPod – all the track numbers were already correct.

  • Cannot Import MP3s into iTunes 9

I have a server in my house where I keep all my music. (WHS since Apple doesn't currently offer anything of this nature.) I tried to drag a standard MP3 file from my server over Samba to iTunes 9 and it just fails silently. iTunes doesn't freeze or anything. It just doesn't addd the song. We have two identical MacBooks that are both exhibiting the same problem.
    The song doesn't import after...
    - restarting iTunes.
    - restarting the computer.
    - updating to OS 10.6.1.
    - dragging it to my local computer, then dragging it to iTunes.
    - altering permissions on the file to 777.
    - using the File | Add to Library method to import.
The song plays just fine in Quicktime.
The song played fine in iTunes 8 and imported fine in iTunes 8.
Any clue what is going on here or how to get information about the problem out of iTunes?

    Eagad wrote:
It must be something to do with some of the files, because I was able to import a different CD from the same server. I am still looking for a way to get a reason out of iTunes as to why it won't import the file.
You will not get a reason out of iTunes, since it is designed to "error silently" when you try to add a file that it finds incompatible.
If the MP3s play fine in other players but not in iTunes, then you have met the problem of iTunes being strict/finicky/incompetent (pick your own interpretation) about slight variations in MP3 formats. The problem can usually be corrected by treating the files with a 3rd party tag clean-up program such as MP3 Validator.

  • Importing MP3 into Itunes

When I move my MP3 files to itunes they will appear in the Library but when I double click to play a song on my computer, it gives me the following message:
"The song "......." could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it? "
Unless I return the CD I imported, I cannot play the song and probably will not either on my Ipod.
What could possible be my problem. Can anybody help with this??Thanks

Thank you so much for your help. Now I have a bigger problem because of the failed upgrade to itunes5.0. My itunes disappeared because of the mess this 5.0 upgrade did to my computer in general and to my 4.9itunes in particular. I only recovered on my desktop via a system restore. However when I click icon on the desktop, nothing happens and it gives me a message to restore itunes. I first tried to uninstall itunes using the uninstall software in Control Panel but it won't let me uninstall! Why is that?.My question is how can I install itunes as the message prompt me when I cannot even uninstall the old or modified itunes in my computer? Is there a way around this? Can anyone help me out? I really appreciate it very much.

  • How do I save an MP3 into iTunes using an iPad?

I'm using an iPad 1 and there's an MP3 on a web site I like. How can I save it to iTunes?

i have some more info I can add to my problem
if I login to the podcast website from a windows7 pc using firefox, and I try to download the MP3 I can make two choices. I can click on the link to listen to the podcast in the broswer. Or I can right click and select "save link as" to save the MP3 locally.
    the link is.   http://www.jimrome.com/member/stream-link?stream=2011-04-22&site=jimrome&type=download_show&clips=1
If i chose to "save link as" it will direct me to the .MP3 file to download.  And if I do this on my BB Torch it will do a similar thing. It will ask me if I want to play or save the .mp3 file.
but if I navigate to that linkk with my playbook, and I hold over the link and select "Save link as". It doesn't save the .mp3 file.  it only saves the link ...."http://www.jimrome.com/member/stream-link?stream=2011-04-22&site=jimrome&type=download_show&clips=1"
so on my playbook, my only option is to stream the file, because even if I stream the mp3 it will play in a new tab. but I will still have no option to save it.
hope that helps..  please let me know if there is a work around.
    thanks

  • OMG - what  apalava - importing MP3s into ITunes

Now, I don't really want to use ITunes at all. My music library is in FLAC (which isn't supported) but to be able to burn MP3s for the car I've mirrored the library in MP3 format. The ITunes is directed to this as its media library.
When I first opened up ITunes and did this it insisted on checking every file (14000 tracks) for gapless settings - no way out it seemed and this took the best part of 2 days !
Even then, when I started to buold a playlist for burning I came to an abrupt halt, the music folder only contained my music up to C (approx, by artist). The rest of the files were not ther (but present on the drive where they are stored).
So tried to re-import (Add to Library) and this time ITunes has started to process Album Artwork for all my music - at the same lightning (NOT) speed.
    What ????
All I want to do is get Itunes to read the music library so I can burn a few CDs.
Am I doing something wrong ?
    Agaggahahagah

Hmmm - searching the ol' weberoony it seems I'm FAR from the only one having similar issues. Namely that ITunes insists on these gapless playback and album art checks when it first imports a new library.
If I try and open ITunes I immediately get the pinwheel of death (aka beachball) and am unable to exit or even force quit. This pinwheel will run until those checks are completed. It's at that stage (after 2 days) that I was able to access the media library via ITunes but then found only about an eigth of my libary was in there (up to C and a few odds and sods which seemed out of order)..
I just have to turn the IMac off. And I don't recall any options in Preferences about gapless playback and album art but I can't get there to check at the moment (pinwheel . . . . ).
I can play, and see, all my music via Songbird quite happily. I can see both the FLAC and MP3 libraries, and contents, on my hard disk (it's an external Vortexbox server) using Finder.
I only wanted to use ITunes as it seemed to offer a useful way to create playlists and burn them to CD (Songbird does not have this capability).

  • Unable to play/import mp3 into iTunes

    Hi All,
This is what I am trying to do. I have a CD that needs to be transferred to my iPad. I figured I need to have the music in iTunes and then I can copy over. I used my Windows 7 laptop to rip the CD and put the mp3 songs on a shared network drive. From my MBA (mavericks, itunes 11.1.3) I can see the music. I am unable to play these mp3 songs using default iTunes player. When I try to drag the songs plus sign shows up but nothing gets copied. I have tried creating empty playlist but nothing goes in there. I also tried playing the songs using quick time and all play fine.
Is there anything else I am missing?
    Thanks
    Neeraj

If anyone comes across this, I am expericing the same thing on iTunes 11.1.5. If I first copy the mp3 to the my system I can add or play it without issues, but if I try from the NFS volume it silently fails.
If I check the logs I see the following entry, which seems related, but it doesn't happen every time:
5/4/14 01:57:04.999 iTunes[47723]: BUG in libdispatch client: kevent[EVFILT_WRITE] delete: "No such file or directory" - 0x2

  • Unable to Import mp3 into iTunes

Hey Apple - Howe about a little help...!
I'm running iTunes 11.0.4. I am not able to see new CDs, in mp3 format, that I have added to my hard drive.  Lots of folks are having this problem.  This renders my Apple iPod, and to some extent my iPad, much useless.  What do I need to do to get this fixed?
    Totally Disgusted with Apple!

    Celt,
Are you talking about an MP3 CD?  If so..
    Close iTunes
Copy the MP3 files from the CD to your hard drive
    Remove the CD
Open iTunes and add the MP3 files to your iTunes library using File > Add Folder to Library

  • Extremely slow import of MP3s into iTunes

Hi, I downloaded a bunch of free songs from Amazon and they all downloaded successfully. However, iTunes crashed while the Amazon downloader was sending iTunes the information, and now the Amazon downloader thinks its job is done. I've been trying to get iTunes to recognize the new songs, but it's either painfully, crawling slow or it freezes entirely. It takes 10-15 minutes for one song double-clicked from the Windows Explorer menu to make it to iTunes. Once it's there, it plays fine and can be added/moved to playlists and all of that. If I use the iTunes menu to import a folder, it freezes. If I try more than two songs at a time, it freezes.
A few months ago I had downloaded a bunch of free Amazon songs and iTunes didn't crash, but it took four days of the computer never being allowed to power down/sleep for iTunes to process all the songs and have them available for play. I think it was maybe 15-20 songs.
What's up with this? It's driving me crazy. I'd use something other than iTunes if my iPod didn't require it.
I'm on Vista (which won't surprise me if that's the problem) on a reasonably fast machine. I've rebooted and gone straight to iTunes without starting other programs, so it's not like I have a gazillion things running in the background. Nothing makes it go faster.
I've read through the Apple support files and run a diagnostic. I do have an NVIDIA GeForce 7500 LE, but the support files talk about problems with a different NVIDIA. I have the latest version of iTunes (8.2.1.6).
    Advice appreciated, thanks.

Don't use the Amazon downloader. Just get the songs from Amazon using your browser, download them to your machine, and then add them to the iTunes library the normal way, i.e. either by using File > Add File/Folder to lIBrary, or by dragging the icons into the open iTunes window.

  • Can't drag/drop mp3's into iTunes

Today I tried to drag a few mp3s from a folder on my computer into iTunes, but it won't work. I've tried other copying mp3's from different folders & drives on my computer but none will work. I have been using this method to import my music into iTunes for years, so I am completely baffled why it suddenly no longer works. Any advice would be appreciated.

cgphoto2, I had the same issue today - and that is my preferred method of importing music into iTunes as well. I first noticed that I couldn't import artwork into mp3s, and then that I couldn't import individual mp3s into iTunes.
The properties of the iTunes Music folder showed it was partially Read-only. I unchecked that box, but it didn't solve the issue. I then unchecked it for the iTunes folder itself, but no go. After rebooting, however, the problem has disappeared.
In Windows 7, I believe, like in Vista, the iTunes library is located here:
    C:\Users\<username>\Music\iTunes
If anyone tries this, remember to reboot.
Note: incidentally, this comes the day after iTunes decided (after a two month hiatus) to allow me to update my hundreds of apps. The only other thing that happened in the interim was I installed AdAware.

  • Moving an mp3 into the new iTunes 11.0.1?

I have tried tragging the mp3 into iTunes, I have used the "Add to Library..." in the File menu and "Import Playlist" in the File Menu - Library. None of these worked.
The only way I have found to move an mp3 into the new version of iTunes 11 is to put it on a track in Garageband and Share it to iTunes. This is too labour intensive. Are others finding that the "Add to Library..." isn't working?
The mp3 is a recording of a friend's voice so I know that copyright infringements are not involved.
    Thanks.

I was also having this problem, any file I added was not showing up in my library.  Go to Itunes, preferenced, advanced and notice where your Itunes media folder is being directed to.  When you find it, quit itunes, and delete the Itunes folder **BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR MUSIC SOMEWHERE ELSE**
then relaunch and try to add them, this worked for me.
