QuickTime MPEG-2 Component does play mpeg-2 files but without voice

Hi,
I bought the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component to be able to play MPEG-2 files from Hitachi HDD camera. I did install it and it plays files beautifully, but without voice. As a matter of fact, I can't hear any mpeg-2 audio on any software. If I'm changing the format to MPEG-4 the voice doesn't come back. If I listen to MPEG-4's converted before I installed to software, they are alright.
HELP needed
Matti

Muxed audio formats do not export audio when QuickTime is involved.
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) as it can export the audio portion of the file.

    Did you export the iMovie project to a movie file i.e. .MOV file?
    You said you burned the project to a DVD.  A PC will not be able to open an iMovie project.

  • QT won't play certain .avi files but VLC will - Both files using same codec

    Hi,
    I have numerous video files and all but two will play on quicktime. However, they will play on VLC. The files are .avi just like the others and the codecs on the two streams are xvid and mpga. The other .avi files have the same codecs. I have all the norm codecs perian, div x, x vid etc.
    The files do open in quicktime but only last 5 seconds as opposed to the full 42 or so minutes. The audio and video for the 5 seconds is fine. On VLC, they play for the entire 42 or so minutes.
    any idea why they will play on VLC but not fully on quicktime? is there another codec I should get? Thanks for your help

    Could be timecode breaks (would normally suspect the audio track). The QT Player is particularly strict with them. If you have QT Pro, you might try extracting both tracks to separate players and see which is causing the problem. If just the audio, you could then fix the timecodes (MPEG Streamclip?) or convert to another compatible format and and re-merge the original video with the "fixed" audio track.

  • HT3523 I can play an .mov file but cannot open it to move it to another drive/disc/etc. When we try to open it, we get a message that says "The movie file for "beanmine.mov" cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly."

    We can play a .mov file (a full-length film created in final cut pro) but cannot actually open it in QuickTime. We get the error message saying that a file is missing, and the movie can't play properly without the file. The thing is, we can play the film, we just can't open it to move it to another drive. Help?
    Also, can the lost file (which was deleted) be recovered from a Mac HD or an external hard drive?

    Sounds like you created a "Reference" file here. I.e., a "Reference" file is a file that tells the player how to play the data contained in a "Resource" file. When you try to open the "Reference" file in the QT Player app, the first thing the player does is check to see if the "Resource" data file is is still available where it is supposed to be. (I.e., moving/deleting the resource file or moving reference file without moving the resource file to maintain the relative path between the two will generate the error message you mentioned.)
    Also, can the lost file (which was deleted) be recovered from a Mac HD or an external hard drive?
    That depends. Deleting a file does not actually erase the data immediately. Instead, the operating system just tells the system directory that the space containing the movie data is available for reuse if/when needed. As time passes, the chance that some of the data sectors will be re-written by other data continuously increases. To restore the file normally requires use of a special utility that both locates and restores all of the linked sectors containing the "deleted" movie data in their correct order. Other methods of restoring files would depend on the software you routinely have active on your system. For instance, do you use "TimeMachine?" or orther software that automatically backs up your data periodically? If so, then follow the instructions for your particular application to recover a deleted file.

  • The music on my iPod plays at normal volume but the voices are too quiet to hear

    My iPod just started to play music at normal volume but the voices are too quiet to hear

    If you confirmed it is not due to a problem with the headphones
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
    Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Why does Quicktime 7.1 Pro stop playing my .MID files after only 30-40 secs

    My MIDI files have the sustain pedal permanently depressed, and after 30 - 40 seconds, Quicktime 7.1 Pro goes silent when replaying them. This does not happen on other computers such as Windows XP using a Soundblaster card. I assume that it is a fault with Quicktime. If I click on pause, then play, then playback resumes for a while and then cuts out again.

    More details. Running on Windows, CPU usage climbs steadily to 100% then the music cuts out. CPU usage remains at 100%. Running on a MacBook, CPU usage climbs to 25%, then the music cuts out. CPU usage remains at 25% until the end of the MIDI playback. This problem applies to Quicktime for Macintosh and Quicktime for Windows.

  • Used Quicktime to export iMovie and play on a TV, but getting audio codec error

    I created an iMovie 11 project and exported it using Quicktime as a HD movie to play on a one year old Samsung big screen TV. The movie file ended in .mov, which the TV would not recognize, so I changed the extension to .mpg and the video plays fine.
    The problem I have is that during the first 3 or 4 seconds of the movie, I get an error pop up on the TV screen that the audio codec is not supported, obviously newer than the TV, right?
    So I updated the TV to the latest firmware via Samsung's website and that all went as expected. However, the error message is still there.
    The movie is made up completely of still images, so there is no audio to detach, and I can find no other settings to disable the audio portion of the movie.
    Anyone run into this before and be able to share some advice, please?

    I found that these audio codecs are supported:
    AC3
    LPCM
    ADMPCM (MA, MS)
    AAC
    HE-AAC
    WMA
    DD+
    MPEG (MP3)
    DTS Core

  • Quicktime 7.5.5 Cant Play AVC 1 files

    I got this movie that i try to open with quicktime is a mpeg4 file the video codec is avc1 but every time i try to open i got this error message "An invalid public movie atom was found in the movie" can someone help me please to find out if a need a different codec to view this file

    I have had the same problem, yet no easy solution from QuickTime. Now, I was able to instantly play my movie using VLC media player. It is a free media player. After installation you open the appl and go to the File menu to "Open" your movie (note: If you just click on the movie file, it will keep on bringing the QT-unable-to-open dialogue). It is unfortunate, indeed, but it seems like we have many types of files which QT does not play at all. Get the free VLC appl at <http://www.videolan.org/vlc/>

  • Quicktime Movie created in iMovie plays in FCP timeline but NO AUDIO

    I don't get any sound out of the Quicktime movie I made in iMovie when I drag it into Final Cut Pro. I get the red line indicating that it needs to be rendered, but even after I render, there is no sound.
    Can this be remedied?
    Rx

    I got the movie into FCP a couple of different ways, hearing no audio the first way then trying to bring it in another way to see if it gave me audio. First I imported the QT movie that resulted from my iMovie project. I found it in my external drive where I had it stored, and I imported it.
    When I detected a problem, I undid that and opened Finder, selected the external drive, found my movie and dragged the icon into my bin.
    In either case, when I opened it in the canvas, it played -- video only. When I dragged it into the timeline, it separated the media into one channel of video and two channels of audio. It would play -- video only. There was a red render bar that I eliminated by rendering all, to no effect for recovering audio, and then by rendering 'audio only,' which also didn't work.
    I then tried dragging in a second iMovie QT project to see if the same problem existed. It did. With that project, however, responding to the red render bar by hitting 'render all' gave me a window saying it would take two hours. Why that wasn't the case for the other movie, I don't know. Perhaps it's the only one that might have worked, should I have had two hours to wait. It freaked me out a little 'cuz it didn't even appear to start working on the render after several moments of watching my cursor turn into a rainbow on and off. So I just closed it out and posted my question.

    Now, I wish to upgrade from Mountain Lion 10.8.5 to latest version of OS X Yosemite, but I am in doubt and worry if after upgraded to Yosemite, can I still using my Windows XP where I installed now in Mountain Lion 10.8.5 BootCamp?
    Yosemite does not allow a new installation of XP, but an existing XP installation is self-contained and will continue to work. Does your XP installation use a FAT partition? You may be better off using NTFS and then upgrading to Yosemite.
    Will the Yosemite upgrade process delete my Windows XP partition or crash my current BootCamp? Can I still have an option to load OS X or Windows XP (press 'alt/option' key during boot up) after upgraded to Yosemite?
    If you have made any re-sizing attempts to WXP partition Yosemite will cause problems, otherwise the Yosemite upgrade leaves XP untouched.
    Are there any specific reasons to upgrade to Yosemite?

  • How can I play Spotify through 3G but without downloading music to my phone?

    I have an iphone that does not have any capacity to download my music files. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to get itunes to play through the icloud and wondered if, by purchasing Spotify Premium, I could play all of my music through Spotfiy when I don't have a wifi connection. If the offline facility requires downloading the files then this is not an option.

    Hello,
    I will do my best to answer your question!
    With Spotify you can stream the music to your iPhone through the mobile network as well as through a WiFi-connection. You don't need to download it to be able to listen to the music.
    Please keep in mind that streaming a lot of music uses a lot of data. :)

    It's corrupt. Delete and redownload it if doing so is free in your country.

  • Client_text_io does not write the file but does create it.

    Hello there!
    I have a form which generates a .txt file using client_text_io webutil function.
    this is the procedure:
    PROCEDURE CREA_FILE IS
    MYFILE CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FILE_TYPE;
    OUTFILE CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FILE_TYPE;
    MFILE VARCHAR2(1000);
    MLINE VARCHAR2(5000);
    RESP NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    MLINE:='LINE TO WRITE...';
    MFILE := C:\test.txt;
    OUTFILE := CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FOPEN(MFILE,'w');
    CLIENT_TEXT_IO.put_line(OUTFILE, MLINE || ' 123');
    CLIENT_TEXT_IO.Fclose(OUTFILE);
    EXCEPTION
         WHEN OTHERS THEN
         CLIENT_TEXT_IO.Fclose(MYFILE);
         message('ERROR: '||SQLERRM);
    END;
    It works on OAS 10g + forms 10g. the file is created fine, BUT I have tried with forms 11g unsuccessful.
    My forms 11g are running under weblogic and the RedHat server.
    Im running the forms app from my laptop Windows XP.
    I configured webutil as the MOS note said, the thing is, the file is created, but no data is writted.
    I can open the file test.txt but the line I tried to print is not there, the same thing with 10g and the file is good.
    help me please.

    What are you doing after writing to the file? Are you leaving the form? Forms performs event bundling when sending data over to java beans;
    v_FILE_HANDLE := CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FOPEN (FPATH, 'W'); most certainly uses get_custom_property at the end to retrieve the file handle from the bean which will cause a "synchronize" as data must be retrieved from the bean before continuing in the PL/SQL code whereas
    CLIENT_TEXT_IO.Put_line(v_FILE_HANDLE,v_string_prov);
    CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FCLOSE (v_FILE_HANDLE); most certainly uses set_custom_property which is a one-way street and data is bundled up and sent as one package. If you have e.g. a exit_form right after those calls there is a chance that forms waits for some other data to be sent over to the bean but won't send it, as the form doesn't exist anymore after the exit_form. The same would happen if you'd do a
    v_FILE_HANDLE := CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FOPEN (FPATH, 'R');
    CLIENT_TEXT_IO.FCLOSE (v_FILE_HANDLE); right after writing your form as fopen will cause the sync (with the possibility that java will still hold a file lock on the file as the fclose method won't be called).
    cheers
