QuickTime not embedding properly in browsers

I use Windows Vista 64-bit SP1. Whenever I try to use QuickTime that is embedded into a Web page, the content is all replaced with a black bar. The QuickTime logo shows up while loading, and the audio plays fine, but the navigation bar and any video do not show up. This problem happens on both Internet Explorer 7 and Opera 9.63. Help?

Or Apple could finally fix this bug. It's only been around for... Ohhh.... I don't know.... 8 years.
Every one else is able to write a functioning plugin for Windows. Maybe it's time to spend a couple of dollars and employ a competant windows developer at Apple.
Quicktime is an embarassment to Apple.

Anchor links to accordion panels not working properly across browsers

Hi everyone,
I need some help to figure out why my anchor links to specific accordion panels on another page are not working properly across browsers.
I have a Map page which has tooltips on mouseover on the site markers. 15 of the tooltips have "Click here for information" anchor links (although only 14 are currently linked) which, in theory, would take you to the Nurseries page where the specified accordion panel would be opened with the nursery entry appearing at the top of the new browser window.

I've tested the anchor links on IE, Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari, and have received varying results. In most cases, the anchor links worked perfectly on two of the browsers, while on the other browsers, the correct accordion panel is opened but the nursery entry does not appear at the top of the new browser window. Anchor links using Safari and Google Chrome fared better (10 out of 14 links worked properly, and 8/14, respectively), whereas when using Firefox and IE, only 3 anchor links worked properly. The target audience for this website will be using IE and Firefox, so I would appreciate any help to figure out how to tweak the code so that the most, if not all, anchor links work properly on these two browsers in particular.
Here's an anchor link which worked perfectly in IE, GC, and Safari, but in FF, the entry did not appear at the top of the new browser window.

Quicktime not loading properly in internet browsers

Used to be working fine till if I don't remember wrongly, I updated Quicktime. I get the same response across IE, Firefox and Chrome.
I've attached the image, much clearer that way. Same response when I tried going Apple's site to view movie trailers.

I viewed your post earlier and the website played fine, but that was on a older version of QT also. I'm now on a newer computer with the latest version of QT 7.7.4 and getting the same result as you are, with the QT icon and ? mark.
My guess is that the website may have been setup to use an older version of QT and need to update on their end?? Interesting post if I can come up with anything useful I'll get back to you

Quicktime not working properly on Mountain Lion

I recently tried to open an client's AE project on my MACPRO (late 2010, running on Mountain Lion) and everything seemed to be offline, after digging in my client's portable drive, I found all the media but could not reconnect it to the project. AE kept saying the quicktime files were not recognizable, so I checked them, and they all were commun animation files, but nor quicktime 10 nor quicktime pro 7 could play them correctly. Both opened the files but with a blank or greyed window. I try then to playback those media files in my MACBOOK PRO (early 2013, running also in Mountain Lion) and everything played back normally, next I tried opening the AE project and everything worked, I was able to finish the project but I was forced to work on my laptop instead of using my workstation with 2 monitors. Both are running Creative CLoud's AE so Adobe's Software is not the issue, Quicktime seems to be. I tested other quicktime files and noticed that my MACBOOK PRO plays back almost anything I throw at it, while the MACPRO doesn't. Please Help.

I sort of hesitate to jump in with all of my ignorance, particularly with no Mountain Lion experience, but I have seen in other threads that apple's recommendation was for Mobility settings to NOT use profile manager but to use good old Workgroup Manager. Now this rec was for Lion Server. I had heard that WGM was a goner in Mountain Lion, but I have seen some posts that it still lives for 10.8. If that is true, you might try getting and using that and see if it makes any difference for mobility. For those other issues in this thread, well . . . .

Quicktime not working properly in Mountain Lion

Hi, I have a Macbook Pro with plenty of RAM and processing. For some reason, Apple has decided we need two different Quicktime Players, but one of mine won't work. Any time I get a video for version 10.2 (dark blue and grey Quicktime), everything works great. However, when a video is required to be opened in version 7.6.6 (light blue Quicktime), it will play for about 3 seconds and then freeze eternally. I have tried reinstalling the program, but nothing changes. I cannot change the settings either because if I click on anything, it will instantly cause the freezing. Any ideas why this might be happening or how to fix it?

just opened my mac this morning and tried sending a couple of messages...... didn't work.... got the red circle exclamation mark..... first time this has happened... all accounts appear 'online'.... able to send messages through iPhone but not using Mountain Goat on my MacBook Pro build 2012...... these Mac machines are behaving more and more like Windows computers..... another half hour of my life looking for a solution to a software problem???

Quicktime not playing properly.

I've downloaded a few videos thru Firefox and i could view then fine using Quicktime before. But now, the video's sound goes off in the middle.
I'm not sure what's going on.
I have tried to reinstall Quicktime, that didnt work. Also downloaded the song again, and again, it's sound goes off in the middle.

Your Cinema Display isn't really capable of showing interlaced footage with any sort of accuracy. What you see externally on the NTSC monitor is what you really have. If you must use the CD as a full screen display you need to get an "adapter" box that will rectifiy the problem. AJA & Blackmagic both make boxes, or the Matrox MXO would be the solution I believe. The MXO does some pretty neat tricks other than allow your CD to display interlaced footage correctly... Down converts HD to SD for one thing in RT, as well as allowing the CD to display things as they should be looking.

I am totally not a web designer so any input would be

In Firefox, part of my header is not displaying. Scrolling
down, under "CASRA Spring Conference" there is a normal text link
and then a text title done on .swf format that is not showing. To
the right there is a graphic in that red box that isn't showing. I
discovered on a different machine that this isn't displaying
properly in IE 7 but seems okay in IE 6.

Font for File information not embedding properly

On two different machines (32- and 64-bit Vista Home) with two different versions of IDCS4 (6.03 and 6.04) when I export to PDF with "Page Information" checked under Marks and Bleeds I get PDFs where the file info and time stamp are in a Times NR that Acrobat 9 Pro on the same machine cannot edit. Settings for PDF export are "Press" or close to, and the Acrobat Properties list of fonts says TimesNewRomanPSMT exists as an embedded subset, Truetype Identity-H.
Now I really don't want to alter the File Info, but at the printer's it seems that the font problem raises pre-flight flags. When I try Acrobat's Touch-up text on the File Info I get a notice the font isn't editable, though all the other text seems okay (and some is quite strange, including a custom font of Yiching hexagrams).
Am I missing something simple here? Killing the damn File Info makes the problem go away, but if I'm going to do that I wonder if I might as well kill Crops and Registration too.

Yes, I understood that Helvetica was necessary on the Mac for proper use of File Information, but I'm on Windows, where Helvetica is not a system font: according to the lists available from Microsoft Typography, Helvetica does not come with Windows nor with Adobe CS4; moreover, it isn't among the "Goodies" that came with my CS4 Design Premium.
It seems strange to me that ID would put the File Info in a PDF in a font that isn't standard on the platform and therefore cannot be embedded. This caused a printer's pre-flight to reject my files for un-embedded fonts unrelated to the real content of the PDF. Maybe I've run into an account representative at the printer's too new to understand a pre-flight check, but even so.... I checked my archives and the File Info was likewise un-editable although the PDFs displaying it still made it into print years ago -- so this problem isn't with my CS 4 installation.
I assume putting the File Info on the pages is a holdover from camera-copy days, and that the built-in metadata is more pertinent in an electronic workflow -- and immune to font issues. I'd also have thought the printer would not want marks for crops and registration, but like the Page Info, those are still in the September revision of their gudelines for file preparation. (The innovation in September was to allow direct export from ID -- previously they'd insisted on Distilling to Acrobat 5 format on grounds of transparency problems!) Keeping up with the technology is a challenge we all face.
Meantime, David Blatner's trick for modifying IDCS2's printer's marks seems never to have allowed modifying the typeface, and seems not to work for CS4 or Vista. But I shouldn't need to go that far.
Should I make the problem go away by leaving out the File Info, knowing they don't really want it anyway? Crops and registration?

Bridge Web Gallery Not loading properly in Browsers **HAAALP PLZ**

Ok so here is the deal.
Went to Bridge
Created Multiple Gallerys
Went to Dreamweaver
Created a page and inserted all the pertinents and such.
Uploaded to my site
Was happy.....
Good to go right? Well it looks all good, and the Gallerys perform as they should with one problem. My problem lies in the initial loading of the browser page. Every gallery loads on the page with the starting picture offset.
Is this a problem with the gallery file that bridge creates or is there something on my html file that needs to be edited to make this shizz load like pro?

Error "0"... Quicktime not installed properly?

I installed and re-installed the new Quicktime version 3 times now... and I am still getting this message when trying to view a Quicktime videos on Firefox.... and then get a message that I have to close Firefox, or, it sounds like something dreadful will happen...
Even worse, I can't open pics without it defaulting to Quicktime pictures and get another error message and the insistence that I close Firefox!
I had no problems before installing this update. I have read the thread about Error "0"... it is all questions and NO answers! What is the deal? How do I reach someone to help me with this?
I dislike using IE, but when I went to it, I was able to view Quicktime videos after installing a plugin... I think...????... and then I had to download DivX. I will uninstall it once again just so that I can view other formats of videos and pics on Windows Media player.
Please tell me what is wrong here or what plug-ins I need to make Quicktime work.

QuickTime 7.55.90.70 will not launch properly

I've been successfully running iTunes and QuickTime on this system for over a year. I often use QuickTime to watch iTunes Store-purchased videos when I'm offline.
The problem started yesterday evening.
When I launch QuickTime, the window flashes open for a split-second and closes. The program button still appears in the toolbar; however, everything but Move, Mininize and Close are greyed out.
I tried the following fixes. All have failed.
1. Ran Windows System Restore to point before problem occurred.
2. Ran Repair QuickTime from Start Menu / Programs.
3. Uninstalled QuickTime from Start Menu / Programs.
4. Downloaded QuickTime from Apple website and installed. QuickTime would still not run and iTunes stopped working, with error message that QuickTime was missing.
5. Uninstalled iTunes and QuickTime from Control Panel.
6. Downloaded QuickTime + iTunes from Apple website and reinstalled.
7. Deleted all QuickTime preferences files (I found four).
8. Re-entered registration number for QuickTime. (I upgraded to QuickTime Pro earlier this year.)
iTunes is now working normally but QuickTime still will not launch properly.
It's possible that yesterday I launched iTunes while QuickTime was running; it's the only thing I can think of that might have created this problem.

It sounds as if you have more of a problem than I did. I'm not an expert and I'm hesitant to make suggestions that might make the problem worse.
In the meantime, I do recommend that you back up all of your iTunes music before you do anything else, and get into the habit of backing up on a regular basis.
Then you might want to try this: completely uninstall both iTunes and QuickTime (using Revo, unless you know how to clean up the registry on your own). Then reinstall both programs (available at the link I posted earlier) and see if that takes care of the problem.
If this doesn't work, I suggest you start your own thread describing the problem and asking for help. Hopefully an Apple rep -- or at least someone more experienced than I am -- can help you.

Error on export : Quicktime not available. Please make sure Quicktime is properly installed.

I am getting an error when I try to export a .move Quicktime file. I have been able to successfully export movies in the past, however, I can no longer do this.I tried reinstalling and updating CS4 and Quicktime, but no luck.
I go File > Export > Quicktime, and get the following error:
"Quicktime not available. Please make sure Quicktime is properly installed."

I want to embed a pdf in a webpage, where the drop-down menu needs to be displayed on the top of the pdf. I am using iframe to embed the pdf.

It is usually best to attach a minimal test case to the bug report.<br />
In that case the code doesn't get lost if the page is removed from the server.

I get a message "your servers license has expired". While I can usually access my emails I cannot delete unwanted emails. This problem does not happen when I use Safari and Apple mail. Is this a Firefox issue or Comcast? Do you know what license expiration refers to?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

Quicktime not streaming movies properly

I watch streaming media a lot, and I was really surprised when the first problem I had was a quicktime streaming problem. The audio is coming through crystal clear, but I see no video at all.
Any ideas?

I'm facing different issues with Quicktime not streaming....I'm trying to access shared files over a LAN and sooner or later it's like QT loses the signal, can't buffer, and gives me rainbow wheel.
Do you see a blank white screen?
What you are quite possibly experience is a missing codec, the XVID codec.
Download it by opening Quicktime under System Preferences, going to "update" tab and clicking "install". You'll be taken to a list; select Xvid; then "Xvid component for QuickTime"; "XviD Component Binary" and then follow the instructions included.
Downloading "Perian" might be an easier solution than this--i believe it contains xvid as well.
Is anyone else having problems streaming/reading shared video since the 10.5.2 update and/or 7.4.1??? Any kind souls have suggestions? I've tried thousands of approaches and nothing works.
