"Quicktime not found"

I upgraded to windows 7 64 from vista business 64 (though I had the problem with vista, thought this would fix it) itunes will not open. I uninstall it than I can install it and it will open once. When I exit out of it, and try to open it again, I get "Quicktime was not found" error. Quicktime is installed and yet works, but itunes doesn't. I've tried about all the suggestions I can find and nothing works. I tried installing just quicktime standalone then itunes, doesn't work. Any other suggestions other than starting from scratch?
Apples wonderful support I can't find a single email address nor am I paying for support to help figure out a FREE program. Microsoft may have outsourced but it seems apple just got rid of their customer support. My only hope is here.

Will I be able to resync my music (as well as my wife's music) from our ipods into itunes?
After you reinstall iTunes.

  • When I click on iTunes it says QuickTime not found

After I got a movie file from a friend (and a player), everytime I tried going on iTunes it would say "QuickTime not found. QuickTime is required to run iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes."
So I uninstalled iTunes and redownloaded the set up and installed iTunes. It's still saying the same thing. What is wrong?

It might be worth trying a complete removal of iTunes and Quicktime followed by a phased reinstall.
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and also the version of QUicktime that does not include iTunes (it is not the defualt option):
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Use the following method to remove iTunes and QUicktime etc:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista

    Restart your computer.
Install Quicktime and check to see it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

i downloaded iTunes but when i try to play it, it says "QuickTime not found" and i go download quicktime itself and when its done it says Quicktime not found again.
When i go to my control panel and try to remove the program it says "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." And when i try to delete it, it says the source cannot be found.

Hello the following article below will assist with a more thorough cleaning of Apple Software.
The following Apple programs should be uninstalled in the order listed to reduce the amount of reboots needed. Keep in mind not all programs in the list below will be listed in your Add/Remove or Programs and Features list. So if you can not find the exact name or something similar then continue down the list.
If you have never uninstalled Apple software below by removing all the programs listed but always just removed iTunes and Quicktime. Try just the basic uninstall of what is listed. If it still does not work. Repeat the step and then check out link below.
    1. Uninstall the following Apple Software in the following order to help reduce reboots
    -Apple Mobile Device Support
    -Apple Software Update
    -Bonjour

  • ITunes won't run on Windows 7: Quicktime not found. .. But Quicktime works!

Installed latest version of iTunes 10 on a Windows 7 64-bit PC. Occasionally iTunes runs, but usually it gives the error: "Quicktime was not found. Quicktime is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again".
I have done this about 3 times, making sure to uninstall everything apple (itunes, quicktime, bonjour, etc.) Once I even followed a recommendation to delete all application data and reinstall. Rebooting, etc.
    Quicktime runs absolutely fine.
I even tried repairing quicktime, installing quicktime by itself after iTunes was installed. No luck. Any ideas???

I've downloaded the iTunes installation file and tried to install or repair 3 times but keep getting a message that a required component is not installed (-45075).
Just in case the component being referenced is not part of iTunes but is rather part of one of the other related programs, it might be worth trying a complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and related componentry, as per the following troubleshooting document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • QuickTime not found error when trying to run iTunes 64 bit on W7, QuickTime not found error when trying to run iTunes 64 bit on W7

I have quicktime installed on windows 7, 64 bit, and then installed the 64 bit version of iTunes. Install is successful, but when I try ot run iTunes, I get an error - "QuickTime was not found". Any suggestions?

I have the same problem, and while I can 'fix' it with the approach described here, I have to 'fix' it that way EVERY TIME I launch itunes.  I suppose the lousy support for mainstream computers is apple's way of saying, 'well of course you can't use your phone, you're not living in a (TM) apple home (TM) please sell your existing home and purchase one from apple if you want your phone to work.'  I never would have imagined that as a computer programmer it would be a multi-hour/failed installation process to get iTunes and the iPhone4 working properly.  What a joke.

  • PC message - Quicktime not found - unintall iTunes - Advice please

I was trying to update iTunes & Quicktime software & it stalled. Now when I try to open iTunes I get this message...
Quicktime was not found. Quicktime is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes. Then reinstall iTunes.
    Questions:
    1. What is the recommended way to uninstall iTunes on a PC?
    2. Will I lose my music & apps?!!!
    3. To reinstall, when I plug my ipod back into the computer will it prompt me through the process? Any pitfalls to look out for?

  • Strange "Quicktime not found" error - unless connected to corporate network

I'm attempting to get iTunes running on a new HP laptop from work running Win 7 64 bit. My user login was created by the corporate IT group as an Active Directory object. I was granted administrator rights on the PC. There is an additional "temp" user that also has admin rights.
I installed the 64 bit version of iTunes and I get the "Quicktime was not found." error every time I try to launch iTunes. That is except when I'm connected to the corporate network. I can connect and it works and disconnect and it throws the Quicktime error. I have connected and disconnected many times and this behavior is 100% reliable.
I have tried several complete uninstalls and reinstalls. I have tried both the Active Directory login and the local login and both accounts experience this behavior. I have performed repair installs on both iTunes and Quicktime. Quicktime runs perfectly whether connected to the corporate net or not.
I'm running out of options. I need this to work as I've gone rather long without updating my iPhone. All I can think of at this point is the fact that the PC shipped with a Win 7 Home license which was upgraded to a Win 7 Pro license. Maybe there is some permission problem or even a group policy issue?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Many of us on my corporate network are having this problem too. (We are all running 9.1.1.12)
I am the IT guy for about 1000 users, and most of the users with cells have iphones. Our biggest problem right now is those users with iphones and laptops. We install iTunes so they can sync and all that.
As soon as they disconnect the network cable off the corporate network, and try to load itunes, they get the "Quicktime could not be found". I can reliably reproduce this.
    1. Plug into corporate network.
    2. Load itunes, works great.
    3. Close itunes.
    4. Disconnect your network cable.
    5. Load itunes, gives error.
This means, of course, that they can't use itunes at home, or on the road, with this one exception:
If they are connected to the vpn, it works great.
I have tried uninstalling itunes, and installing 9.0, but I had the same problem.
Add me to the list of people having the problem. I would love to get this resolved for my users.
Things that I have not tried yet, but would like to:
    - Install a version of itunes earlier than 9
    - Install itunes from home, and bring my laptop to work.
    Thanks guys!

  • Upgrading iTunes for Windows 7.4.3.1 to 7.5 - Quicktime not found?

My version of iTunes (7.4.3.1) works fine, as does QuickTime (v7.2) independent of iTunes. Yet, running the download for iTunes 7.5 results in an error message that installation cannot continue as QuickTime is needed. I downloaded the update a second time, with the same result.
Checking for updates to QuickTime yields the message that my software is up to date.
Anyone else encounter this issue? Have a resolution?

Did the installer at some point ask for a reboot and you didn't reboot? If you don't reboot when it asks you to, I believe that the two Quicktime files in C:\Windows\System32 are not being correctly deleted as part of the uninstall of the previous version of Quicktime.
Try manually uninstalling Quicktime from the Add or Remove Program Control Panel (XP) or the Programs and Features Control Panel (Vista). Rebooting and manually deleting the two Quicktime files, QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx, in C:\Windows\System32 -- unless you're running a 64 bit OS, in which case they will be in C:\Windows\SysWOW64. (See it really helps me when you fill out the configuration information at the bottom of the post.) And then re-running the iTunes installer.

  • Quicktime not found in Camtasia, After Effects...

    Big problem here.
    Quicktime player installed (version 7.6.4).
When I open it and play mov-files there are no problems at all.
But when I need access to quicktime via other programmes (such as Camtasia or After Effects) I get Error messages or the programmes tell me that Quicktime is not installed. So, for instance, it's not possible to export an After Effects project as mov file. Very bad.
I tried different possibilities mentioned in this forum (reinstall, clean registry, etc...) but nothing helped, which is very annoying.
Hope that some of the experts here are able to provide a solution for the problem. Thanks a lot.

itunes wont open at all, error message : quicktime was not found .... please reinstall ... i did that but no luck this only seems to have happened since the 10.4 update, im on windows 7 ..

Can you start QuickTime on your computer?
You'll probably have to search for the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and use it to remove QuickTime Player and iTunes. Then download and install the iTunes again.

  • Quicktime gets a file not found error in running of set up.  tried downloading twice

Quicktime gets a file not found error in running of set up.  tried downloading twice

    Hi Spex,
I can import the VI Logger task OK (from another PC running VI Logger 2.0), but I can't run the task.  I've attached the file.  The "1 channel" task runs OK.  The "x-probe" task starts, takes 1 or 2 data points, then hangs for a few seconds, then pops up the "file not found" error. The data acquisition taks run OK, so I don't think they're the problem.
This file I've attached includes 2 good data tasks ("1 channel" and xprobe"), 1 good VI Logger task ("1 channel"), and my non-working VI Logger task ("x-probe", which works fine on the PC it was exported from).
I have also tried exporting the non-working VI Logger task on its own, and it still imports OK, but still doesn't run, and gives the same error.
    Thanks,
    Jake

  • I can't export to QuickTime, it gives message "Codec not found."

I have long sequence, in which I have some Channel Swap effects.  I get an error message saying it can't be rendered for a sequence this long (72 minutes) with my hardware (2009 iMac running OS 10.6.8).  When I try to export to QuickTime, it tells me "Codec not found." I'm trying to export to Apple Pro Res HQ.  What should I do?  I took out the Channel Swap effects and didn't get the message anymore in the sequence, but I'm afraid the codec issue will crop up again, even though I changed it to Apple Pro Res in the Render Options tab under Sequence settings, rather than just "Same as Sequence".  Eventually, I will have to export to HQ, and I'm not sure this codec lets me do that.  Help!

You don't give any details about your format or sequence settings, so I'll be general here.
    Just a couple of observations...
The only time limitation messages I've seen (in the last decade) have been resource-oriented, not NLE constraints so if your system doesn't like a 72-minute sequence I'd be looking at drive space or something like that. Have you tried outputting two 36-minute pieces?
I don't understand your logic in using the sequence codec option (which is limited to two specific formats) to control output of the sequence rather than the output "same as sequence" dropdown) options. Personally, I don't use either, I output the sequence as is and transcode in Compressor.
Simple as it sounds, "Codec not found" generally means exactly that, so I'd be looking at whether the codecs need to be re-installed.
    Hope this helps
