Quicktime not working properly on Mountain Lion

I recently tried to open an client's AE project on my MACPRO (late 2010, running on Mountain Lion) and everything seemed to be offline, after digging in my client's portable drive, I found all the media but could not reconnect it to the project. AE kept saying the quicktime files were not recognizable, so I checked them, and they all were commun animation files, but nor quicktime 10 nor quicktime pro 7 could play them correctly. Both opened the files but with a blank or greyed window. I try then to playback those media files in my MACBOOK PRO (early 2013, running also in Mountain Lion) and everything played back normally, next I tried opening the AE project and everything worked, I was able to finish the project but I was forced to work on my laptop instead of using my workstation with 2 monitors. Both are running Creative CLoud's AE so Adobe's Software is not the issue, Quicktime seems to be. I tested other quicktime files and noticed that my MACBOOK PRO plays back almost anything I throw at it, while the MACPRO doesn't. Please Help.

I sort of hesitate to jump in with all of my ignorance, particularly with no Mountain Lion experience, but I have seen in other threads that apple's recommendation was for Mobility settings to NOT use profile manager but to use good old Workgroup Manager. Now this rec was for Lion Server. I had heard that WGM was a goner in Mountain Lion, but I have seen some posts that it still lives for 10.8. If that is true, you might try getting and using that and see if it makes any difference for mobility. For those other issues in this thread, well . . . .

Quicktime not working properly in Mountain Lion

Hi, I have a Macbook Pro with plenty of RAM and processing. For some reason, Apple has decided we need two different Quicktime Players, but one of mine won't work. Any time I get a video for version 10.2 (dark blue and grey Quicktime), everything works great. However, when a video is required to be opened in version 7.6.6 (light blue Quicktime), it will play for about 3 seconds and then freeze eternally. I have tried reinstalling the program, but nothing changes. I cannot change the settings either because if I click on anything, it will instantly cause the freezing. Any ideas why this might be happening or how to fix it?

just opened my mac this morning and tried sending a couple of messages...... didn't work.... got the red circle exclamation mark..... first time this has happened... all accounts appear 'online'.... able to send messages through iPhone but not using Mountain Goat on my MacBook Pro build 2012...... these Mac machines are behaving more and more like Windows computers..... another half hour of my life looking for a solution to a software problem???

Tap to click not working properly in Mountain Lion. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

The tap to click does not work with mountain lion as it did before the mountain lion install. I purchased a brand new imac in August of 2011 and got a wireless keyboard and selected the wireless trackpad instead of a mouse. The trackpad worked wonderful pre upgrade with tap to click. Now after the install of the newest beast, I have to actually press the trackpad rather than a slight tap. I have carpel tunnel and this is causing great stress upon my hand. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

I have an imac purchased in Aug. 2011 which came with Lion 10.6 (two uprades before mountain lion)
Recently, I just purchased a macbook pro retina with Mountain Lion
On my imac, my settings allowed me to "tap to click" everything EXCEPT the initial log in at the star up of my imac, again running Lion 10.6
On my macbook pro retina which has Mountain Lion, I set up the "tap to click" option, but notice that a "hard" click was neccessary when trying to click things. I thought this was a macbook thing (my first one) so I went and upgraded my imac to Mountain LIon, BIG MISTAKE! Now both my imac AND my macbook only have limited "tap to click" options. Before mountain lion I could "tap" to highlight and select text, tap and drag, and many other thiings that Mountain Lion has disabled.
I am truly surprised that no one has noticed this MAJOR issue.
Is there a way to uninstall this update, similar to how on a PC you can go back to a restore point.
On another note even the way PREVIEW has changed is less user friendly, there used to be icons on the bottom right corner of the screen, now I have to double tap and select the option I would like to switch between contacts and thumbnails. This is really annoying and is causing me time when reviewing files.
Just in case anyone was wondering, I did go to system preferences -> trackpad -> select tap to click
In fact almost all of the trackpad functions have been selected.

In-App-Purchase is not working properly at Mountain Lion

Hi,
I am using Mountain Lion pre-release version. I am developing a cocoa application which uses In -App-Purchase. The In-App-Purchase is working fine on OS X 10.7.4, when I run the same code on Mountain Lion, the application freezes and I have to force quit the application.
Please help.

Messages not working properly in Mountain Lion?

Hi and thanks for reading.
I am writing because while I instantly receive my iMessages on both my iPhone and iPad, it happens only sometimes on my MAC running Lion Mountain.
Even if I launch the iMessage apps it does not receive anything until I start typing and sending message using the Mac.
Any advice?

Home sharing does not work with new mountain lion update.

home sharing does not work with new mountain lion update. Does anyone else have the same issue. Updated all computers in my home, deauthorized and reauthorized each computer. turn off home sharing and turned it back on. don't know what else to do..please help...

Our Apple TVs continue to lose connection ever since installing Mountain Lion on the host computer. The only thing that fixes them is to quit and relaunch iTunes, which only works unti the ATV goes to sleep. If a movie is paused for more than a few minutes and the ATV goes to sleep, pressing play again on the remote is greeted with "There are no movies on this computer" or "Turn on Home Sharing."
If we stop a video on one ATV and attempt to resume it in another room, the error begins again. The other ATV can't connect until iTunes is relaunched.
My guess is that it has something to do with the new [annoying] security settings. But I still haven't found a fix other than restarting iTunes everytime we want to watch something from our downloads. Fail.

I have tried to open old session i have done in garage band and many of the effects and instruments I have used will not show up. The system seems to have a bug.

If the graphical user interface looks broken, that is quite often a problem of corrupted user preferences - have you tried to remove the preferences file, as described in the FAQ

Here is again the short version:
Quit GarageBand, if it is running.
Open your User Library in the Finder. It is hidden in MacOS X Lion, so use the Finder's "Go" menu:
Finder > GO hold down the "Options" key, until the library appears in the menu, select it.
In the window that opens, open the folder "Preferences" and remove the file:com.apple.garageband.plist and com.apple.garageband.plist.lockfile
Then try again to run GarageBand and download the loops.
The preferences file stores all you user settings that you set using the "Preferences" panel in GarageBand, also the layout of the GarageBand window and the location of your recent projects. You will have to enter these settings again after removing the file.

Mail preview not working any more - Mountain Lion

Ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion - the preview is not working in Mac mail properly. So the first email in the list that I click on shows the preview but when I click down to any of the others in the same mailbox - the preview does not change. The only option I have then to see what the email is all about is to double click the email and look at it in its own window which is really annoying.
Any ideas anyone? Yes I do have all the software upgrades installed and am on the new Mac Bool Pro Retina display...

I had a problem with Hotmail, which as you know Apple Mail somehow links to when you press "send mail"
on some Internet sites.
I had to add a new Hotmail mail address. Now my old address in HGotmail doesn;t exist, but I still receive
mail through the new one (which is called a default mail address).
So Apple Mail is still linked to my old non-working Hotmail adress, and will not accept the password for my
new Hotmail account.
I canl;t remember my old password for my old Hotmail account.
Can someone help?

After up dating Itune now my Quicktime files not working, I getting massage that Quicktime on this computer not mached with Itune I have tryed all Quicktimes available on your sight with no succes.
I have Lion oprating system.

Lets see if I can make sense of that improper English.
iTunes and QuickTime run mostly independant from each other. Updating iTunes shouldn't impact QuickTime. If you are playing videos in iTunes they play in iTunes -- not QuickTime.
If you cannot use QuickTime, you need the most recent version of QuickTime X available from Apple. This is updated using Software Update on Lion. If your computer can update to Mountain Lion, that's your best bet to fix this issue.
It is also a possibility that you are just missing something.
Also, I'm not sure why this is listed under Boot Camp...

The trackpad/gestures is not working correctly on mountain lion

After I have downloaded Mountain Lion, my trackpad/gestures is not working correctly. I cannot swipe with the three fingers, etc. and have to reboot and then it works, but will eventually not work over time. Does anyone else have this problem?

I am having the same problem now.
Was okay when first installed on date of Mountain Lion release.
Now I have lost function in Spaces.
Spaces would only work if I used Dock icon to move between Spaces.
Now just run everything in one Space.

Why does my canoscan 9950FII suddenly not work anymore? Mountain Lion. Error: scanner not found and PCPower no longer supported.

New iMac with OS X Mountain Lion. Canocan 9950F II, bought new because my old 9950F was not supported by Mac. Driver installed from CD, everything fine, worked perfectly. After some time of not using the scanner, I tried to scan a document now. It did not work. It says it cannot find the scanner although everything is plugged in and switched on. And then the message that PC Power is no longer supported. HELP!!!

Check the Canon Web Site for new software and download the software for Mac OS X (Intel Mac) or select Intel Mac from the install disk.
I checked the Canon Support Site, but there isn't a 9950F Mark II on the U.K Site, but there is a 9000F Mark II.
The messgae you are getting suggests the PowerPC software version has been installed instead of the Intel Version.

Altiverb 6 not working in Logic/ Mountain Lion

I just bought the new 27" iMac and used Migration Assistant to transfer over all my stuff from the old iMac. In the past this has always proved successful, but I'm experiencing some problems with Logic. Specifically, Altiverb ( 6 ) won't work, no matter what I try, and I've done all the usual Audio Ease-recommended "tricks", like opening Logic in 32 Bit and manually getting the AU manager to pass Altiverb. In the past this always worked, but not so in Mountain Lion. In fact I tried downloading Altiverb and the IR installer, to reinstall, but they refuse install in Mountain Lion! I keep getting error messages on both counts.So far, so bad, then.In all other respects Logic seems to be fine, though I haven't actually run it yet; but I mean that other third party plugins work fine.
So, while I'm waiting for a reply from Audio Ease support, I wondered if anyone out there had an answer to what might be happening here,please? It's puzzling and annoying. I heard bad things about ML and Logic, but, then, I also heard that everything is OK from other quarters. Right now, I'm on the fence, because other plugins seem fine, though the Kontakt Memory Server doesn't want to work in ML right now.
I understand that one will usually encounter some issues when starting out on a new OS, but I really never had any problems like this in the past, even when using Migration Assistant....

It is entirely the decision of the 3rd-party software developer - hence, his responsibility - which OS and its versions his software or plug-in is compatible with.
You are mentioning that you have contacted them, and that's the best, if not the only, thing you can do other than sit and wait.
The other way around, if you depend on 3rd-party software or plug-ins, it's always wise to make sure that their versions are up-to-date and fully functional with a new OS before you switch to it. Sorry, but you having been lucky in the past doesn't mean it must always be so. And sorry again, but you can't blame Mountain Lion or Apple for it...

Logic Studio 9.1.7 not working with OS Mountain Lion

I downloaded Mountain Lion yesterday and Logic is no longer working. I thought I had the latest version? 9.1.7 right? Anyway, does anyone have any clue why this would be? When I open the app it opens, but will not open any files and then cannot be closes without manually shutting down the system. ???

Did u just update to 10.8.1 today? I've just loaded up and it's fixed a major problem with the analyser if anything.

I am helping a friend with his computer and what it is doing is NOT normal. He has Mountain Lion, I have read not very nice reviews. Mail and iPhoto are not comunicating properly; 'sleep mode' takes forever and other small bugs that I am not used to having with a Mac. Any advice? Thanks!
