Quicktime on iPhone...

I really want to watch online mpeg clips but like many of you, cant. What about sticking Quicktime on the phone? I mean, it is rare to come across a media clip that is anything but quicktime format. I definately dont want to go home and download the clip, reformat it then push it out to my phone if I can just watch it on the phone. This is the only downside to this phone and it really burns me...

You can not put Quicktime on a phone at this time.

  • Can't fast forward in QuickTime for iPhone 3.0?

Does anyone know how to get the slider bar that allows you to fast forward a Quicktime on iPhone 3.0? On the previous version, any quicktime apps had the volume slider on the bottom, and the play timer up top, which you could slide to forward to or go back to a time on the track. On 3.0, i only see the volume slider, and a 30 second rewind, and a 'next track' button. what if you want to fast forward?

I suspect it's the way they were recorded. I've seen that behaviour before with music and video files I have downloaded. I'm not sure of the actual reason or any possible solution.

  • QuickTime 7 iPhone preset doesn't work with iOS 7

Using the QuickTime Pro iPhone export preset doesn't seem to create movies that can be played in iOS 7.  When clicked on, you get the "no" play symbol.  The same movies can be played on an iPhone with iOS 6.
    Any workarounds out there?

  • Interactive QuickTime on iPhone/iPod Touch

    Hi All
I am a relative newbie. I have created an interactive quicktime mov using Keynote. Works fine on screen and on web. Can't get it play on an iPhone/ iPod Touch. Is there any special quicktime settings I should be using? All help gratefully received.
    cheers
    Greg

Thanks for suggestion. I am puzzles though. Qt is such a powerful medium. Apple has enabled some of the text tracks within QT to play closed captions on iTunes / iPhone. That is great. How / when do the other tracks get enabled so we can use the full power?

  • QuickTime on iPhone: What is that double arrow button?

What is that double arrow button on the top right of the QuickTime window that started appearing in iPhone 2.0 software? You click it and the arrows just change direction, but it doesn't look like anything else is happening.
If you don't know what I mean, see this image:
    http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l476/spiderdad19/qtimeicon.jpg

It has been there. Imagine having a movie in widescreen format. You can watch it with wide screen (and have black bars above and below) or have it zoom in to size of screen (chopping off left and right). Can also be done just by double tapping video during playback.
You may not notice if watching a video that fits both ways. Can see it work better with real movie content playing (depending on size encoded for).

  • Problem using QuickTime for iPhone

    Hi Everybody,
I am a developer and i program an application for the iPhone. I want to know if it is possible to block the controller in the Quicktime player for iPhone ?
I use the embed code with the "<param name='controller' value='false'>" but the controller is always here.
I want to stream a video, where the user can't paused the video.
    Can you help me ?
    Thanks a lot

I had this same problem and solved it when I realized that the software upgrade download was about 600MB, but I had less free space available on the iPhone.
So I deleted some large music files to make space available, then started the upgrade again and it worked fine.
One caveat: since I had "Automatically fill free space with songs" checked in iTunes, under the iPhone "Music" tab, simply deleting songs from the iPhone's playlist did not clear up the space.  Other songs got loaded to fill up the space.  I had to uncheck "Automatically fill free space with songs" as well as delete songs in order to free up the space.
    Hope this helps.

  • Quicktime for iPhone

is there an iPhone version of Quicktime?

A Quicktime plugin is included since I'm able to view quicktime videos at Apple's website and at other websites that provide content with Quicktime, but there is no stand-along Quicktime version to install.

  • IWeb with QuickTime for iPhone

Can someone give me a simple recipe for embedding a QuickTime movie in an iWeb page so that it plays on the iPhone 3G? Has anyone done this successfully? I'm generally pretty savvy with QuickTime, but this has me currently stumped.
    Thanks.

If you subscribe to MobileMe, you could publish your QT movie from iMovie '08 to a _MobileMe Web Gallery_. Select the tiny and mobile sizes to publish. Your iPhone or iPod touch uses either of these sizes, depending on how it’s connected to the Internet.
Then in iWeb, you can view a list of all the albums and movies in your MobileMe Gallery, and incorporate any of them in an iWeb page. Visitors can click to go directly to your MobileMe Gallery:
    http://www.apple.com/ilife/iweb/#album
And a little over halfway through this video tutorial, it briefly shows how to embed a MobileMe Gallery:

  • Quicktime screencast is not displaying my iphone

I have an iPhone5s that was working great with Quicktime screencast w lightening cable.
But now the screencast shows iphone as an option in new movie recording, but doesnt show the iphone screen.  It remains a small black box.
The iphone is recognized by the computer, iphoto and imagecapture.  I do notice that the iphone in iphoto is iphone(7) but in quicktime is iphone(3)
i think it started having issues after i installed the ios8.2 update on my iphone5s
As a trial i tried another iphone6 and it screencast perfectly fine.
any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I have had this happen when I allow the iPhone 5s to "go to sleep" before starting/finishing the QT X "Movie Recording" set-up. In my case, I simply complete the set-up selections (app normally defaults to FaceTime camera when iPhone falls to sleep) in the "small black window" and then "wake up" the iPhone and sign in again to "re-fresh" the iPhone recording window. Check to see if this is what is happening in your case.

  • Where are all the "DCIM" folders on iPhone?  Everything not in Camera Roll.

I just finished stripping down all the DCIM folders accessible from a PC via Windows Explorer.  I'm really looking for answers on the "how to", not "why it is" or "it just is that way" please.
The DCIM folders (mine [iPhone 5 w iOS 7.x] shows 5, naming convention is beyond me).  These consist of the following...
Total files equals the total number of pictures/videos in Camera Roll.
         - JPEGs (iPhone Created, iMSG Saved, or Moved (file xfr/emailed) to iPhone & Saved to Camera Roll),
         - PNGs (screenshots)
         - QuickTime Videos (iPhone Created & iMSG Saved to Camera Roll)
What is not accessible in the DCIM folder, but visible via Photos & Albums on the iPhone, are the following,
         - Instagram
         - Facebook
         - User created folders, mine came from iTools
         - Access to Albums created on the iPhone
                   * If I organized on the iPhone, why can't I access that organization via the DCIM folder?
What I know, if a file/image is in a user created folder, I cannot access it from Instagram.  An image must exist in Camera Roll for Instagram to be able to access it... aka I have to save the file to Camera Roll.
iCloud & iTunes, are not answers to the question, "How do I access all otherwise PC-considered "DCIM" folders?" when the only access allowed is "My iPhone --> Internal Storage --> DCIM --> '5 Folders housing all Camera Roll images/videos"
As you can read, this is not a question "What is Camera Roll?", I just defined what it is above.
    Thank you!

Maybe this will help you with a description of how iOS sorts photos. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4221.
As far as creating folders while in Camera Roll, the camera roll is not really designed to store photos on a long term basis, hense why if something happens to the iPhone, you lose your photos. It is designed for you to import the photos to the computer and do your organization there, and then sync the photos back to the device via iTunes. Then, should something happen to the iPhone, your photos are still safe on the computer. The ability to create folders and arrange photos through the Camera Roll is rather new. I'm not sure how it handles them, but earlier versions just put a "shortcut" so to speak in the folders you created, with the original file remaining in the Camera Roll. I'm not sure how that may have changed, but I am not sure how it handles these folders now. Seems you have discovered some of this by your comment on Instagram.
I do know that in Windows, and from what I have read it is the same on a Mac, you cannot use Explorer to put photos back into the Camera Roll. While you can read from the Camera Roll, you cannot write to it with the computer. Someone may be able to dispute that, but natively through Windows I can be sure that writing to the Camera Roll is not allowed.
Regarding your comment about the SD card, it is true, despite the fact the iPhone uses Flash memory, you cannot write to certain areas of the memory, and as I stated earlier, the Camera Roll is one of them. While it will save photos from the camera, and will also allow you to save photos from email, messages or other applications, it does not allow you to copy materials from the computer. This is the way Apple designed it.
I believe I read in your other post that someone suggested you use the feedback channel, but in case I was wrong, here it is. If you want Apple to see your comments, you need to post there, as they do not participate in the forum. The feedback link is www.apple.com/feedback and then click on the appropriate link.

  • JPEG export of QuickTime frame (with Location info)

Shoot QuickTime with iPhone 4S camera app.   Import into iPhoto and see that location data is recorded in file by nature of the fact that iPhoto shows a map pin of the location it was shot.   Park QuickTime on a frame in iPhoto.  Select File Export, Kind: JPEG, with Location information ticked (which when I hover over this option says "Include GPS data in exported photos" -- see attached photo).   Click the Export button.   Choose a folder and save.   Resulting file is not a jpeg but is a 31 KB reference QuickTime of the original 1080p quicktime.
    Why isn't this working?
    iPhoto ’11 (ver 9.3 650.39)

Prior to version 9.1.5, iPhoto would export the currently parked frame of a QuickTime file.  (See:
http://macmost.com/export-video-still-frame-as-image-with-iphoto.html)   This prior state of functionality, along with the fact that the current version's export menus do not dim or grey out during export from QT media, leads one to believe that frame export is a legitimate feature (or facility as you put it) of iPhoto that has somehow become broken, at least on my Mac.  Maybe it works on other Macs.
Also, what is so wrong with the expectation that a still exported from video (which, by definition, is a series of stills presented at 30 frames per second, giving the illusion of movement) can inherit geolocation data from the originating video?   What makes this such a radical notion?   It is inheriting the width, the height, the saturation, the luminance -- why not throw in the location, which is a tiny morsel of geodata just asking to be plucked?   Those piddly bits would grant the exported still a greater context; they would, indeed, place it on a map.
And what could be a finer honour for a piece of media, be it a photo, be it a QuickTime, be it a still exported from a QuickTime, than to be given its place on the iPhoto map.  Such a proud distinction that says "Yes, I am an image (or a moving image, or a still taken from a moving image) and I was taken here."   Do not deny the honour of placement to these media.  All are worthy of placement on the map, because all are historical artifacts that beg for geo-context.   And without geo-context, they become lost.
    Goodnight.
(P.S. I plan to export lots of stills from lots of QuickTimes and do not want to do manual geotagging.  No thanks.)

  • Quicktime doesnt play

in my safari browser i try to play a quicktime movie off a website and it doesnt work. Ive tried a few sites that have quicktime movies a no luck. Any help would be great.

    Hey guys,
I started a thread which I'm collapsing and joining this one. I did a little internet research and found an app that works as well as a dev link from apple.
    VISUALHUB:
App that you have to purchase that converts to the proper format. You can watch a demo here on your iphone: http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/iphone.mp4
    DEV LINK:
    http://developer.apple.com/iphone/designingcontent.html
This is a direct quote from their topics regarding quicktime for Iphone Safari:
iPhone streams movies and audio using HTTP over EDGE and Wi-Fi networks. To deliver the best web audio and video experience on iPhone:
Encode H.264/AAC at appropriate sizes and bit rates for EDGE and Wi-Fi networks. See “Encode Video for Wi-Fi and EDGE.”
Use reference movies so that iPhone automatically streams the best version of your content for the current network connection. See “Create a Reference Movie.”
Make sure the HTTP servers hosting your media files support byte-range requests. See “Configure Your Server.”
Follow current best practices for embedding movies in webpages.
Use poster JPEGs (not poster frames in a movie) to display a preview of your embedded movie in webpages. See “Embed Movies in Webpages.”
If your site has a custom media player, also provide direct links to the media files. iPhone users can follow these links to launch directly into playback.
Don’t bring up JavaScript alerts that ask users to download Flash. Flash isn’t supported and neither are downloads.
Don’t use JavaScript movie controls to play video on iPhone. iPhone supplies its own controls.
Encode Video for Wi-Fi and EDGE
You can use the QuickTime Player Pro Export command and the following exporters to prepare video content for iPhone:
The Movie to MPEG-4 exporter with the following settings prepares movies for Wi-Fi.
In the H.264 video options, make sure you restrict the encoder to use the Baseline profile, and select "Faster encode (Single-pass)" encoding in the Video Options dialog.
Video settings: 900 kbit/sec, H.264, 480 x 360; frame rate: current; preserve aspect ratio using: Fit within size
    Audio settings: 128 kbit, AAC-LC
    .mp4 file
The Movie to 3G exporter with the following settings prepares movies for EDGE.
Video settings: 64 kbit, H.264, 176 x 144; frame rate: 10 or 15; preserve aspect ratio using: Letterbox or Crop
    Audio settings: 16 kbit, AAC-LC
    .3gp file

  • FCP export to iPhone aspect ratio changes 16:9 to 4:3 Help!!!

I have been having this problem a lot lately I need the 16:9 aspect ration for iPhone but exporting through quicktime like I have for the last year now gives me 4:3 i don't know when this happened, obviously from a software update but I haven't done an iPhone export for a bit.
Old way of exporting to iPhone
    File>export>Quicktime conversion>iPhone = iPhone.h264 file in 16:9
New way to get the same thing
    File>export>Quicktime Convesion>Quicktime Movie
Then Open the Quicktime movie outside of FCS in the stand alone Quicktime Program and re-export
    File>Export>Movie to iPhone
extra work where there used to be none any help with this???? Very Annoying!

Open the file in QuickTime Player. Press command and J keys together.
In the pane that opens, click on the "Presentation" button then on the "Conform Aperture to:" checkbox.
It should automatically select "Clean" and your movie will change to widescreen format (you can always choose this manually if it doesn't happen automatically).
Save your movie -or "Save As.." if you prefer to make a copy, as opposed to overwriting the original.
